Staff very helpfull, nice reception areas, we ate at a restaurant owned by the owners in the town and the food was outstanding Bedrooms very dated, perhaps need updating
cannot comment as visit was for a funeral No tea or coffee facilities in bedroom
Very friendly & helpful staff.Very good eveinng dinners Room facilities a bit basic.
The staff were so helpful, for example, when we would leave for work too early for breakfast, they would pack us a breakfast/lunch and leave outside out door - even on coming home, they didn't let us go without food and drink for the journey. They even gave us a lift to the railway as they thought it was too far to walk! Certainly a true family environment, and equally as caring1 Absolutely nothing we can put in this box!
The setting, ambiance and staff were very nice. There were good trails to walk our dog. The rooms were comfortable.
great area to hike, cycle, etc.
Breakfast was very late
I loved the historic feel of the hotel - renovated from an old home and the ambience was very warm and European - it reminded me of the show Faulty Towers except they were very professional. The rooms were very small but I understand there's going to be a big renovation.
we liked the location No tea/coffee making facilites in the room or in the guest area
Great location; friendly staff; clean and tidy; great breakfast; easy access to parking and other facilities. For our liking the mattresses were too soft, but that is a personal preference. The hotel also seemed to be a thoroughfare for tourists with no connection to the hotel.
Would have liked to check in earlier than 3 pm, but aside from that it was very nice. Newly remodeled inside , I think, as the rooms were nice, and the bath was great, with a tub and shower. The dining room was beautiful, with fresh flowers, and good food at a reasonable price. The decor, lovely.;the dining staff good. As for location, it is perfect, right on the canal, with boat for hire. or footpath for walking; plenty to see, with the lovely homes on islands, and resturaunts along the canal. an adventure in beauty is what i would call the town of Geethoorn. The hotel is very convienient to the attraction, which is the town. The stairs were difficult to climb with luggage to our rooms.
The rooms are too small and you can understand what your neighbours are saying to each other.
It is definitely a quiet, relax and romanic place. I totally got a full refresh after the short stay over there. Thumb Up!
The hotel owner was very friendly. We checked in early but still she let us in a very comforting way. The room coupled with breakfast was definately worth the money.
Hotel very clean, Good breakfast with excellent selection, Hotel is right on the Geithorn canal where you can rent a boat. Rest. is closed for renovation until late summer of 07. Meanwhile breakfast is served in a modular building. This is a very minor point as the breakfast and service are excellant.
Environment is superb.Ladies in the service were helpfull. There were severel thing noticeable: Outer space and walls surrounding the Hotel was being painted thus heavy smell covered the room. No shower curtain was available leading to water splash everywhere. No fridge in the room. A few weeks ago ownership changed and many new initiatives for refurbishment and management were underway, not necessarily to the good of guests, but I believe after a while things will turn to normal. Of course construction work and cleaning work in and around the channel, just next door, exacerbated the situation.
An excellent location close to the city center with shops but also close to the channelsystem with its charming houses. This family run hotel has a staff that really cares for the guests. We forgot some items when we checked out and the manager phoned our next hotel in Amsterdam. We strongly recommend this hotel when you travel to Geithorn. This little town is a fantastic place with all pitoresque channels and houses. Really the Venice of the North. The town without roads.
comfortable counter in the bathroom is a bit small
Clean and pleasant room, good restaurent, convenient and spacious car park.
Staff very friendly & helpful Bathroom showers make no sense ..... 1/3 of a shower door with the shower located in the rear of the tub. Do you folks really like wet floors? Seems this is typical of Europe, but these deep tubs and crazy showers are accidents waiting to happen. Hope you have good insurance.
My stay was very enjoyable, the room was clean as well as the bathroom. In the bathroom we found the placement of the toilet roll very inadequate. The room was also a bit too warm.
Large rooms. A excellent selection for breakfast.
Clean, nice staff, good value although a little far from gronigen which I ask for.
Great staff and good service
Easy to find and centrally located. The meal in the restaurant was disappointing.
Good excess from main roads Soft-drink machine placed against my room. Noisy men and women in the room(s)
Ambiance and friendly staff May be the rooms too hot
location, pool, dinner (though expensive), breakfast
Very quiet, relaxing place. Very recommendable hotel. Very clean.
Location was nice, quiet, and their dining experience was excellent. An airconditioning unit would have been highly appreciated, during the hot summer months
Well positioned hotel in the grounds of the Oranjewoud park, clean, well maintained and with an excellent restaurant. Staff efficient and friendly.
employee kindness interior bit rundown
the hotel was situatedin a very nice forest area. The swimming pool was very nice and the room was big.
This hotel has it all. Great facilities, clean and comfortable rooms and excellent restaurants where the food and service were fantastic. Its ideal for a peaceful weekend away in lovely surroundings but easy to find. Probably the nicest "chain" hotel I've stayed in
smoking fumes incorridor filtering into our room
Welcoming staff, countyside location, swimming-pool, free coffe and fruit in the ground floor.
The atmosphere is nice. It makes you feel at home. No
Surroundings, nature The restaurant, only 5 main dishes in a 4star hotel restaurant. It was too easy to choose...
The large and well furnished room. Extra facilities such as washing machine and bicycle hire. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was poor. No choice of size and style of hire bicycles one of which needed attention.
Very friendly staff, nice big pool
The owners were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area and had lots of suggestions for places to visit. The meals were excellent and even a last-minute order for vegetarian food was no problem. Just a lovely place to stay. There was nothing we did not like
The staff was friendly and helpful and the facilities were excellent. Location was perfect for exporing the area. Dinning room food was excellent.
the staff is excellent, kind and helpful! decoration of the restaurant no
Manager was very good and the food was excellent
Was not close to any other major cities nor were places open in Giethoorn late into the day.
Really friendly hotel, staff wanting to help. Boat hire gave extra incentive to stay longer. Good quality food
Small and simple hotel with excellent staff -- very friendly, very helpful. Fine hotel for a short stay. The breakfast was inadequate: the coffee we got served was lukewarm and the toast was old. The scrambled egg was great, even though there was very little left when we had breakfast and nothing was resupplied.
We were made welcome from the minute we entered the Hotel, everyone went out of their way to accommodate us, we were given information, maps, weather forecasts and anything we asked for. Generally this is a first class hotel with first class treatment. I would not say that I did not like the breakfast but I think their could have been a more varied selection, there was only one juice, two cereals, one yogurt and no toaster for scrambled eggs on toast!!!!
No hay plabras.Fantastico. Highly recommended. Giethorn is after Amsterdam the most touristic village in Netherlands (1 million per year) but is only known in Netherlands -only 20% are foreigners- so we should discover it !!!. The hotel is really great .... you can rent bicycles and electrical boats there. The rooms are very big, all new and nice. 10 over 10. No tengo ninguna.
Good service, nice Grandpa
Friendly helpful staff and an excellant restaurant.
Staff very good , very modern, very clean and quiet
Very friendly staff. Good breakfast. Nothing special about the hotel.
Excellent service and civility. A first class hotel\at affordable prices. Restaurant selection excellent
Location, close to Thialf. Location, rather far away from city centre.
Clean hotel, friendly staff, good value, have stayed frequently and will continue to stay in the future. Bars of soap have been replaced by little bottles of soap which are a bit inconvenient. The restaurant is very average - it used to be superb. Either the chef has changed or the ingredients. If it's the chef, please get the old chef back for a week to train the new one.
There was freezing.
Quiet hotel. Nice environment (golf). Excellent starting point for a bike tour. Breakfast and dinner were alright. Asked for a non-smokers room. However, stayed in a smokers room. The weather was fine, so, we slept well with windows wide open.
The hotel had very good bicycles for guests to use; they might provide the service of a good old fashioned "fietspomp" in addition to the bykes.
the staff was extremely helpful and friendly, the location was perfect. it was extremely noisy, but overall value for money is excellent.
spacious, clean family room. nice bathroom. Good restaurant. Beds not comfortable (mattresses too soft). Hotel staff not professional, not helpful. At reception staff could not understand and was not able to answer questions (in english) like "do you serve breakfast a la carte?", or "can you recommend a nice bike trail nearby?". Children room not safe, too many furniture sharp edges, beware of in-room accidents. Parking-facing rooms are noisy and not offer value for money if you're seeking quiete coutryside holiday. WiFi extremely slow (couldn't use VoIP or streaming video) and very expensive.
Hôtel reception, restaurant and bar are really nice. Tower rooms are a good value for money The staff was not that pleasant. I use to stay in other Van der Valk hotel with much more friendly staff!
Excellent staff service
I always like the proximity to my family that lives in the area and the friendliness of everyone, staff and others. I only wish they had better beds... Queen or King size, instead of two twin beds pushed together...
Great room, nice interior, good breakfast.
nice and new hotel breakfast for our 7 years old child for 1O,5O it is a lot of
When we arrived in the evening, we asked to have dinner. Even if it was a bit late 21:30, it was still possible to eat. But the waiters told us that it was not possible to have dinner in the restaurant so the served us dinner at the bar which was not very comfortable.
The room was splendid. Surroundigs were nice with children. Nice little village with friendly people.
excellent service very clean and tidy no complains at all
Lovely hotel, attentive staff, clean, comfortable & well looked after rooms - what more could you need?
The hotel is designed as modern farm house, which feels great. Lovely library. Located in the countryside, the hotel is quiet & it's fun walking in the area. It would be nice to have a kettle in the room. The restuarant is very pricey, hardly a variety for vegeterians. Since it's remote - there are no real options to dine out.
What we like best about staying at Huis Ten Wolde was the friendly family who own and run the place, the delicious meals in the restaurant on the premises and the absolute cleanliness of the room. We would stay again when in town! Lovely view from the room which was in the back of the hotel, top floor. No, not really!
Very good kitchen, friendly service all around. The dinner table that was reserved in advance was given away; The requested seperate beds were not available.
The service was excellent, the hotel was what we had expected as we had stayed at the Hotel the year before.A very relaxing village in the heart of Holland. The Church bell was a little annoying
Friendly staff, big and spacious room and good restaurant. Nearby church bells provide a lot of noise on Sunday for 5 to 10 minutes.
excellent price, location and good menu
It is located in the centre of Dwingeloo, a touristy but nice village close to the National Park Dwingelerveld. We did not like the fact that we booked at Hotel Wesseling but our room was in the opposite building, in what used to be another hotel. Quality of the rooms may probably be the same, but the facilities and the general look and feel were certainly different, and less inviting. And it is not pleasant to have to go to the breakfast room in the pooring rain.
Reasonable prices, good food, pretty location no internet access
Incredibly friendly staff, right on the Brink, bar and restaurant, beautiful room. One of the best hotels we've stayed in! Nothing
Stylish and quality finish , food good ,staff friendly and helpful .Located in a beautiful wooded area within picturesque Dwingaloo. Well recomended. Cryptic menu,no fridge and kettle in room.
excellant rural position , good restaurant
Surroundings No wireless internet
We enjoyed the country admosphere, very nice
The staff were very warm and welcoming and the breakfast was excellent.
in the morning we arrived in a well served dining room , alot of food in all kinds off tastes, worth wile if u look at the total prise.there is not much noise, because all the rooms are spread over the area , all on one floor we could not enter our room after hanging at the bar in the hotel , the badge did not work , after looking for hotel personel -which we did not find - we slept in the same room of our friends , 2 bedroom with 4 :(., next morning we told it , but did get poor respons . Bur after all , it was a nice time in that room ---laugh---
The location was picturesque. The hotel and decor was dated.
The room itself was fairly large and very clean with a lovely bathroom, however the furniture was rather old and worn. The rooms are in a seperate annex and the corridors had a slightly musty un-aired smell to them. The hotel advertises that it has a swimming pool, however when you arrive you discover that it is only open in the morning and is closed in the afternoon from 4.00 till 7.00pm for what appears to be the local swimming lesson classes, as the restaurant closes at 9.00pm it means you don't really get much chance to use the pool at all during the week.
The people at the front desk were very nice and the breakfast buffet was excellent and delicious. We came in late at night (10.15 p.m.) and would have loved to make a cup of tea in the room. A coffee maker would have been nice, or an electric water boiler in our case.
Good breakfast selection
Very nice location and excellent bed Charging 17 euro for 24 hours in a hotel like this is over the top. I expect service. The also send one a survey. 10 minutes is far too long and it contains questions pushing you into a specific statement. deleted it.
The setting of the hotel was beautiful, the rooms lovely, the food great and the staff friendly & helpful. The pool and pool-side areas are lovely! We had believed the spa services would be more extensive and more professional than they were. In our view they were over-priced for the services received and we felt a little cheated by them. For example, the expensive 30 minute massage was actually 15-20 minutes with time left over to "lay and rest".
The quitness and calmness, beatifull surroundings.
It was all very good.
We stayed there many times over the years. ( For all above-mentioned reasons.) It is even better now that the hotel is totally smoke-free. And we like the 'new look' following their recent renovations (2008)). It is our favorite hotel in North Holland. We had an excellent service in the dining room the first evening. However, the second evening - they were short of staff - and it took much too long to eat a simple 4-course meal (19h00 to 22h30..)
The 3* star hotel tried to provide 5* service. For example, change fronk-desk check-in with welcome coffee. Room is spacious with good furniture. Food (breakfast and dinner) is normal and overpriced. Curtains in both bedroom and bathroom are full of dust. The room we stayed is a cottage which is isolated in the yard.
Service was good. Food delicious. Booking.com stated free wlan. Is only available in the restaurant and is not for free. The hotel explained it very politely and gave a voucher for 50 minutes. Is ok but not what was expected....
Helpful staff. Hotel clean. Nice quiet location about 20 minutes from Assen TT circuit. Excellent breakfast and evening meal. Meals in hotel restaraunt a bit expensive.
The room looked lovely, clean and pristine, the staff were helpfull and friendly During the night I constantly heard scuttling (probably rats or mice) in the wall cavities and along the roof (I rules out bats as they went along the beams). I got the worst nights sleep I have had in ages, which didn't exactly make me on top of the world for the next day, especially as I had to drive almost 300 miles back to Dunkirk at the end of it.
nice hotel on the edge of shopping area beside canal. great staff good service nice bar area . very good dinning room food to very high standard. all in all a great place to stay.
The Pub down the Road and the friendly Staff at the hotel Beds Not fantastic
Food was very good, staff extremely welcoming and friendly. No bad points, only one on my behalf that we didn't stay longer.
Staff were very helpful and brekfast plentiful. Bar area was very nice. Our room was in need of some re decoration and updating however it was very clean
Location, clenliness of room & restaraunt. the staff were polite. I will be coming back. I would like to have seen tea / coffie making facilities in the room
helpful staff good food and nice location
The staff were really helpful, especially with information about attractions around the area and travel arrangements.
All round I was very impressed with the hotel and the staff None
Location excellent staff friendly and helpful hotel clean tidy resturant food good breakfast included in price good and plentiful second time stay for bike racing but would go back just for a lazy break with the wife
It was not noisy at night. I liked the surroundings, and the small town. Great breakfast.
very comfortable and relaxing no
Very convenient to a stay in the town of Steenwijk. Most guests will arrive by car, but it's only a 15 min. walk from the train station and 20 min. walk to/from the town center. Try to set time aside for that most Dutch activity: biking!! Easy and cheap to rent a bike at the train station. There's a forest to the North, heathery landscape to the East and unique Giethoorn with it's wetlands and small lakes to the south. All roads/trails well marked, icecream, snackbar, cute eating places everywhere.
Great area and good people did not have double beds
Kindness of people and good ratio quality/price The wrong communication between web channels and the hotel.
the garden no
Wifi internet connerction was deplorable
good all round experiance
Checking out by 10:30am was inconvenient. All other hotels allow you to check out by 12am.
friendly and helpfull staff- large, clean rooms with a desk-good breakfast-good bed an TV-free internet-good value for money. the signal of the free internet is not always stable or strong enough.
All staff were very friendly and accommodating safe did not work
the kitchen closed at 8.30 so you were unable to have any food after this time. The staff were v helpful and allowed us to eat a take away in the bar. Te rooms were ex retirement homes so ours had a shower seat in it and there were pull bars everywhere. i think this should be made clearer, my daughter room was next to some one that was in the home as the doors and lifts were dual access, she would not sleep in the room on her own as the " old" people creeped her out as she cold hear someone coughing, it was so loud we had to put the tv on all night to try and drown it it. the residents ate in the restaurant with their friends and family so it felt like we were staying in a care home not a hotel was v strange. on a plus point the beds were
Large room well situated to town
Nice staff, to soft beds ,
The homy athmosfare.
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful they made the checkin easy and accomadated us in the restaurant at short notice, breakfast had a good selection and the hotel rooms were very clean. An ideal short stay hotel
Pleasant surroundings. Good location. Good sized rooms.
I was only at the hotel at night, and it was very quiet
it isn't a hotel but a kind of a hospital...
Level of service was very good through attentive and very helpful people. Bedroom decore was modest.
Very clean, staff really helpful especially the blonde girl when we arrived (sorry don't know her name). The food was not only good value the quality was excellent. None all positive
