Pros: Really lovely staff. Fabulous rooms with amazing castle view. Beautiful old building and very well located.
Cons: The spa and indoor pool were closed and this information wasn’t in the booking. It probably reflects in the bargain rate we paid and it didn’t spoil our stay at all.
Pros: Beautiful hotel, but stayed off season, so many of the amenities were not available. It also happened to be on a holiday, so NOTHING in the village was open, including the castle. The restaurant in the hotel did not open until 2100h. Easy check out, and has a 24 hour desk.
Cons: Only small coffee bar open in the hotel, windowless. Prices were good.
Pros: Nothing really.
Cons: It was our last place to stay during our vacation in Spain, so we stayed in different great places before this one, and it was the most expensive and the worst though it pretends to be sort of luxury. We came by car and it turned out that we can't park here as everything is reserved (and it costs 5 EUR). But our window looked out onto the parking lot and we could see during the evening, at night, in the early morning that there was always 3-5 free lots. We couldn't use any of spa as it was all reserved too. In the room there was 2 separate beds but we asked for a big one. The air conditioning worked loudly all the time. The bath was so strange. It had a large glass partition which made it difficult to step in the bath. I don't say about any wish to take a bath. The bidet was broken - it made a significant puddle on the floor. The body milk was half full (it seems like they just didn't change it after the previous guests).
With a stay at Ribera del Duero, you'll be centrally located in Penafiel, just a 4-minute walk from Bodegas Protos and 6 minutes by foot from Casa Museo de la Ribera. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk and an elevator. Event facilities at this hotel consist of conference space and a meeting room. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The front facade is attractive. The bedroom was clean.
Cons: The bathroom smelled dreadfully of drains. The receptionist barely spoke to us, offered no map, no information. There were no brochures available. This hotel is in the wine region of the River Duero, there should be info about wine tours etc. As we left, we were not asked whether we had enjoyed our stay or wished a good day. The restaurant and café were closed. Breakfast was poor.
Pros: Hotel is situated right in the area are where main wineries are, so it's a short walk to many of them.
Cons: Too many cold in the rooms with castle views.
Pros: Lovely looking building on the outside
Cons: The hallway had rising damp coming through from the bathroom. And the restaurant was closed albeit all the other restaurants in the town were also closed. Is it out of season?
Pros: Price and location are ok
Cons: There was a lot of dust under the bed. The matress was very bad and walls were humid
With a stay at AF Pesquera in Penafiel, you'll be near the beach, within a 10-minute walk of Bodegas Protos and Casa Museo de la Ribera. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
Pros: The hotel is an old factory that has been refurbished. It is beautiful, and the rooms are a nice size, comfortable and clean. There are outdoor areas for relaxing and both a casual and more formal restaurant. The breakfast is generous and delicious. We ate in both restaurants and the food is good. The hotel is outside of the little town of Penafiel on a main road, about a 15 minute walk away. It is set up for business type of gatherings in addition to regular tourists. We had an excellent visit and private tour of the Abadia Retuerta Winery and Hotel. It is a good location for exploring the area, and an easy day trip to Segovia.
Cons: The WiFi signal was weak to nonexistent in our room, but worked okay in the public areas. The reception staff was polite, but not overly helpful or friendly. They sit behind a big black partition, so you have to wait for someone to notice that you are at the reception desk, which seemed a little odd. We didn't need help with our luggage, but none was offered, which may be an issue for some travelers. It wasn't clear when the more formal restaurant would be open. We did have dinner there one night, but it was closed on the other nights, no explanation. It seemed like they were short staffed. When we arrived, the casual restaurant was completely full with only one waitress doing all of the work. She was excellent, but seemed pretty stressed.
Pros: Stylish hotel. It could have been a great stay.
Cons: In the absence of a hotel manager, the staff didn’t have authority to deal with complaints properly - of which we had many. Definitely style over substance and things got worse. Problems with room maintenance so we were moved to a smaller less comfortable room with no WiFi. Problems with dinner and we got a shrug of the shoulders. Maintenance throughout the hotel can be seen to be poor. The manager is based elsewhere - enough said.
Pros: Beautiful old building Staff in bar very good. Rooms good
Cons: Receptionist not very helpful and did not explain a lot of things to us. No one to help with bags. Restaurant not open full time. Only one spa visit for whole stay (1 hr only) whether you are there for a night or a week. Not worth paying the extra for. Have to pay for parking even though its a hotel car park and was empty. We were not offered a cooked breakfast on our first morning, only the second morning. When I mentioned a few problems on check out they were not interested.
Cons: We had a big problem, we left our passports and our money in the safety box, when we arrived at the next hotel we realized that it was missing an amount, so be careful
Pros: Beautiful building and a very nice room. Great breakfast
Cons: The food in the bar. It was served cold and not of the same quality as the rest og the hotel
With a stay at Lavida Vino-Spa Hotel in Penafiel, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Plaza del Coso and Playa de la Judería. Featured amenities include multilingual staff, luggage storage, and laundry facilities.
Pros: - The possibility to have a private access to the SPA, with an additional fee, for a limited time to 50 minutes. - Restaurant was quite good, considering that around the hotel there is nothing. Also the city of Penafiel, 5 minutes far by car, seemed to be in a ghost city on Thursday evening/night.
Cons: - Breakfast could be improved for the offer and selection of food. - Room also needs a bit of renovation in the furnitures and in particular needs to be equipped for a more larger desk with chair and a TV with acceptable size.
Pros: Clean and staff were friendly and helpful
Cons: Hotel was in the middle of nowhere, didn’t expect additional charge for use of jacuzzi and steam to be €25 per hour per person?!
Pros: The location was good, near to the wineries, easy to find, easy to park.
Cons: The price-quality ratio was not Ok. Very overpriced.
Pros: Sheila and Gema’s service was outstanding

Pros: Great price quality ratio - very clean and functional - walked to the downtown to enjoy the Ribera wines which was key.
Cons: The property is next to a busy road, it was very noisy with trucks passing. Couldn’t sleep.
Pros: Lovely staff.
Cons: It's by the road so a little noisy.
Pros: Nice big room, really comfortable bed and nice bedlinen. Spotless
Cons: A bit out of town on a busy road with lorries going past
Pros: Pleasant staff, room was clean and comfortable. Ample parking on site.
Pros: Great value
Cons: Bed a touch uncomfortable
Pros: Spotless. Penafiel is a real find.....We're keeping it a secret
Pros: Comfortable, Very friendly staff.
Cons: All good
