10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful house and grounds. Room was modern, clean and comfortable, with our own terrace overlooking the grounds. Our hosts were wonderful and very helpful. Can't rate the breakfast highly enough, everything homemade and delicious.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beds very comfy, spacious room and great breakfast. Host was very friendly despite our lack of french!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location and surroundings. The property is wonderful!
Cons: Decoration and restaurant pretentious. Thé château is beautiful, ruins by the need of adding design and modern decoration and art. Modern rooms are ok.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Claudette and Jeannot were fantastic. Our flight into Rodez was very very late and they were so gracious, they arrived at the airport and guided us to their house in the dark. I cannot thank them enough for rescuing us and turning a bad start to our holiday completely around to such a good one. Breakfast was lovely with so many homemade goodies. If you’re flying into Rodez, and want to stay in a lovely old converted priory, please take the time to do so here.
Cons: Everything was great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Claudette is the perfect hostess. She met us at the impressive ancient door with a smile and a cheery hallo. After going up the twisty windy stairs, she showed us our lovely room, which was very spacious and light. Immaculately clean bathroom. As we had been travelling for 8 hours, she very kindly brought us a tray of tea and home made cake. She recommended a bar/restaurant in nearby Marcillac (5mins in the car) to eat in the evening. 15 minute drive to Grand Rodez golf course. Claudette and Jeannot are the perfect example of how to do B&B. The breakfast table was laden with home made jams and cake. A choice of at least a dozen loose leaf teas. There are 4 B&B rooms and 3 gites to rent. Would definitely recommend. 10/10
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts! They were fantastic! Honestly, Claudette and Jean welcomed us with coffee and cake and fresh juice for the kids. Though not much English is spoken, and my french broken, it didn’t actually matter!! We stayed in the self contained 2 bedroom Gitê, which we were not expecting, and it was perfect! The grounds are amazing, with a stream running through, and it’s also close to an amazing village called Salles-la-Source, which has a beautiful waterfall. The chateaux is stunning, exceptionally clean and very quiet. Claudette laid out a beautiful breakfast for us all in the morning too, it was truly a home from home experience. I would honestly go back just to see her again! Wonderful.
Cons: Not applicable!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful breakfast, amazing !!! Homemade yogurt and nut torte
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were wonderful! Homemade cakes and great breakfast, really exceptional friendly lady, perfect overnight stop. Very happy.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Jeannot & Claudette could not have been more attentive hosts. Even guiding us on a 2 hr 'off the beaten track' walk around the area, as well as playing taxi for our trip to/from a local restaurant which we had booked for dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Claudette and jeannot are wonderful hosts. They made us feel very welcome. The room is in a 15th century residence of a count, and the building is very grand. The ground floor rooms have a terrace with seating. Ours had a view over the large garden. It was very quiet at night, and we slept soundly. The breakfast was served in a dining room nicely furnished in a style that befits an historic residence. We enjoyed home made cake and preserves, terrine and cheeses.
Cons: Restaurant options in the area are limited, especially on a Wednesday.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ideally suited for a short stay or overnight stop over. Our host Marie was exceptionally warm, friendly and helpful. The room was perfect, so too was the breakfast.
Cons: Nothing at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable and well equipped. Marie is a great host. Wonderful home made breakfast!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The host was exceptionally helpful and went out of her way to make my stay enjoyable and stress free. A real pleasure to stay at anytime of the year.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A very warm welcome after a long hot drive, a chilled apero in the fridge, outside seating area in the shade - so we gratefully combined the two! Very spacious and well thought out space, excellent new shower room. More varieties of tea and coffee than you could ever need! Instead of finding a restaurant, we chose to walk to the supermarket and buy a salad ready meal and eat it back at the house. Breakfast was delivered to our door and was a perfect mix of fresh fruit, juices, croissants, homemade jams and yogurt and local bread. We made our own filter coffee, so it was excellent in every way.
Cons: In driving into the area, it didn't look like it would be a great location, but the house is in an avenue of other substantial properties with private gardens and some parking. Any concerns we may have had were dispelled immediately. We would stay there again!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It's a large appartement. Excellent breakfast. Would recommend.
Cons: Opposite the train station
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Marie was the perfect host. Great welcome, made us feel welcome and gave us a great introduction to our accommodation. A lovely night in a comfortable and spacious room. The most beautiful breakfast filled with home made products.
Cons: Nothing at all
La ferme de Bourran - Rodez - Building
3
9.5 Excellent (251 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at La Ferme de Bourran in Rodez, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Soulages Museum and Rodez Cathedral. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, multilingual staff, and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location with excellent staff and facilities. Very good suppers at night and lovely local wines. A car or taxi is necessary as public transport out of town does not cover the lovely old villages.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff is very friendly and could accomodate our request for baby sitting even though it was for late night. The hotel is very nice for kids, with a sweets bar in the lobby and beautiful garden in front.
Cons: There was a small confusion about the cost, since the use of the existing sofa bed in the room was charged extra only because the sofa was set up as a bed with bedsheets. Staff explained the situation kindly.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: 1. Small is beautiful (just seven rooms!) 2. High quality furnishings and fittings; tasteful design 3. Quiet setting outside the centre yet within easy reach of main sites 4. Several good restaurants nearby
Cons: If you place the bathroom and toilet on opposite sides of the room, you should equip the toilet with a small hand basin - or at least oil the door hinges so that a prostate-sufferer doesn't wake his wife each time he gets up in the night!! (Room 7)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent large well equipped room overlooking Rodez with everything you could need for a great break. Parking on site with a Michelin star restaurant at the bottom of the road. The manager was very accommodating and Anthony the receptionist was outstanding and could not help enough. This is a truly exceptional property and we would recommend staying here to anyone who likes to be pampered and enjoys quality accommodation.
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The house, interior, room space and comfort was super. Loved this place. Breakfast was easy and relaxed and to set outside with the garden view was so pleasant.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything lovely - dog friendly
Cons: Slightly expensive
10.0 Excellent
Pros: On arrival we were told they had upgraded us to one of their best rooms. The room with 37 m sq. was luxuriously appointed and very comfortable. The hotel is quite close to Rodez but in a quiet upmarket area with excellent restaurants very close by. All in all an excellent experience.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious, decor relaxing, breakfast excellent.
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Quiet location, but close enough from Rodez city center. Very big room, comfortable bed!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Annie and Julie were both excellent hosts and very responsive to any requests.
Cons: A very minor annoyance was that the one air conditioning vent was built into the recessed window sill so you can't really fully close the curtains to avoid the sunlit mornings or you would cut off the flow of the cooler air. The air conditioning could have been a bit stronger as the room never got fully cooled. Shutting the bathroom door helped though. Of course it was in the nineties every day so that might have had something to do with it! Nevertheless, these complaints are minor and the overall stay was wonderful.

7.5 Good
Pros: The owner is non-resident and needs to be called to let you in. The apartment is on the first floor with external access. It is a functional space with access to cooking facilities if you were having a longer stay. Very close to the centre. Parking was available though we were able to park on the street outside.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location and shared apartment
Cons: In a shaded position parking a little tight

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The grounds were beautiful and serene - the chateau was beautiful and well appointed. Great in-room amenities. The hotel restaurant was one of the best dinners of our 2 week trip, and the breakfast was delicious. Remy was extremely helpful and friendly to us each and every day. Créator, the puppy, made us smile every morning and night! Great location for exploring Aveyron surrounding area. Great hikes and drives nearby. A perfect chateau hotel for a relaxing getaway.
Cons: We loved the restaurant ambience (especially the bar/lounge) so much we kept saying it would have been nice if they kept the bar open at other times of day outside of just dinner time. Maybe a daily afternoon happy hour? Also would love if there was an area that provided snacks or goodies during the day like meat and cheese or something along those lines.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It is an idealic setting in quiet countryside. Lovely secluded swimming pool in what looks like former orchard or walled garden. Very relaxing place.
Cons: Walk up two flights of steep steps to get to your room but it’s over 200 years old and they didn’t have lifts in those days.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property We stayed in the treehouse - it was lovely
Cons: Nothing Wished it hadn’t been raining so that we could have taken advantage of the lovely swimming pool within the vineyard
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel, perfect location in the countryside and very quiet. Amazing building and overall friendly staff. Great breakfast
Cons: Dinner in the restaurant on the first night was somewhat disappointing. Not the food or the location. But the waiter seemed to imply that as a female single traveller, I was " unusual " Many flies and wasps in the dining areas, this could be solved easily with citronella candles or similar. Given an amazing property I was very surprised this is not looked at. Only took dinner one night as a result, which was disappointing, given the menu and location and views from the restaurant.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A warm welcome with a guided tour of property was a great start & our room, Cardinale, was lovely, spacious & very comfortable. Dinner in the bistro was equally good. B'fast buffet with good selection was delicious. Beautiful property & it gets better every time we stay! The resident dog was entertaining too! The weather was cool & windy so a pool swim was not on the menu sadly.
Cons: The only thing i can think of was lack of a shelf in the bathroom for our toilet bags.
6.8 Good
Pros: The beds were really comfy and the room was spacious. Food in the restaurant was excellent but limited. Breakfast was good.
Cons: It was hard to find a member of staff. The staff multi tasked - booked you in, served in the restaurant and cleaned the rooms. This gave the impression that the establishment was being run on a shoestring for maximum profit. No bar apart from an honesty bar is one example. A very small fixed menu with no a la carte option is another example. Watch out for the stair rods, they have a life of their own!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The surrounding area is very nice, just like the hotel. Rooms nice and roomy
Cons: We had an art- deco style room. Black and white very and luxe, with shower in middle of the room (wich we dont like, but for everyone different) and behind that a very beautiful ceramic double sink. But without room to put even a toothbrush and thats really annoying. But the most grief for us was, that this is an expensive hotel (ca150€ a night) with a very good restaurant (they are members of the connaiseurs hotels witch we would like to visit all ;). But on our stay the restaurant was closed (MON and TUE) and i think that is absolutely insane. There u are in your expensive hotel with no bar, no food whatsoever nothing! Yes a leaflet to show you wich pizzeria you can visit 20km away, surroundings dark as hell, you dont want to do that when you did 600+ km already. I think it is proposterous to close your restaurant when you have a hotel. Close for 3 or 4 or 5 months but not when your open that is a slap in the face of your customer. I called customer service from booking, they were very nice and understanding. They promised they would look into my solution of mentioning a ‘“the kitchen is closed on your booking day” message before booking so you can look for alternative hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Unspoilt traditional feel Beautiful countryside
Cons: No air conditioning but we expected this as we were in a very old room
9.3 Excellent
Pros: So much. Great restaurant. Fantastic tranquil pool setting. Spa with view lounge areas and all admist rolling hills and country outlook. Staff lovely. Setting lovely food lovely will definately be back
Cons: There were a lot of flies in the room. There was no air conditioning. So I guess windows had been open for a while to cool it down. So before we settled down I needed to kill about 25 flies. Otherwise everything was perfect

Pros: Nice grand old house, nice gardens and pool. Very friendly host and his son, we speak very little french but got on very well - we did not have time to use the pool but it looked very inviting.

He even gave me some seeds from one of his garden flowers when I admired it.
Cons: Nothing, it was all very good indeed.

Pros: Very pleasant staff/owners.
Cons: The room was very basic, with poor lighting and furnishings.
6.5 Good
Cons: Audible conversations nearby from 10 pm to 5am
7.0 Good
Pros: The location was good, away from the main roads. Quiet at night. Friendly staff.
Cons: Despite the hotel not being busy when we stayed we were still allocated a room in the roof on the 5th floor. It was very hot and uncomfortable to sleep despite the windows being left open.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was charming, the room comfortable and the service friendly and efficient. The location could not have been better - right in the centre of town. Parking would have been difficult under normal circumstances but as it was Ascension Thursday there were no parking fees and these was a reduced level of traffic so finding a space (right outside the hotel) was a dream. There are many restaurants and bars in easy walking distance and, more importantly, the main sights of the old city are on the doorstep.
Cons: I understood from the booking information that breakfast was included but in fact it was not so that was a little bit of a surprise and pushed the final cost above what we had expected. However the choice and quality of the breakfast was great. Overall reasonable value for an hotel in the centre of the city.
7.0 Good
Pros: Central location and close to all facilities and restaurants.
Cons: No car parking which maybe an issue. The breakfast was expensive for what it was. Otherwise it was fine.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was perfect for a city break. The parking was convenient, just across the road in an underground car park. The bed was very comfortable.
Cons: Our room had a shower over the bath. This can be very dangerous and is unusual in Hotels and B & Bs today. If we could have changed room we would have done but the hotel was full.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely employee Nice decorations in the room
Cons: Breakfast is too expensive for what it is There was a sock under the bed You don't feel special when you enter

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room, breakfast, and facilities were all very good and location was great. The reception staff were very nice and the Hotel is literally a short walk from the cathedral one of the best features of Rodez.
Cons: The parking was a bit tight though that's what you expect in city centres. The Mercure sign is not prominent enough so again we drove past the Hotel initially, which is a pity as it usually means a trip around the one way system.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Elegant public rooms ,with a most interesting modern " kiosk" in dining room for the top quality breakfast buffet.Pleased to find hot breakfast also, and SIX types of real tea,not fruit concoctions. Superb facilities in spacious room(401) and very helpful staff ( despite management policies) giving information ,service ,and a professional manner. The location was very near historic centre and shops. The town of Rodez is surrounded by beautiful and interesting countryside, comparable to the Dordogne.
Cons: Owing to the normal French city centre noise, the windows needed closing at night. In our top floor room, conditions were too hot for this. The air conditioning was centrally turned off until the last weekend of May,and I had great difficulty in getting this altered until my final night of seven.

Pros: Staff were friendly and helpful, we arrived before the check in time but were allowed to leave our luggage in a safe place. There were also umbrellas available which was handy! Heavy weight curtains created a nice dark room to sleep in. Lovely bathroom with a lovely shower.
Cons: The carpet needs replacing, lighting in room is very dim. No milk for hot drinks.

Pros: Lovely hotel for an overnight stop on our journey to the South of France. Comfortable and spacious family room, brilliant breakfast with loads of choice - the orange-juicing machine and pancakes/waffles were a big hit with the kids!

Pros: Location and comfort
Cons: The shower partition is much too small, and you can only flood the bathroom while taking a shower. Soundproofing is also poor, at least for bedroom 401. These two points are not up to le level of the rest.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: A great place to stay; good environment. Good restaurant. Nice helpful staff and very dog friendly.
Cons: The bathroom could be restyled so the water stays in the shower and the glasses of wine that cost four euros could be larger.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We have stayed here before and will no doubt do so again as it is ideally placed for the Blue-Green Golf club Golf de Grande Rodez, where we sometimes play in competitions. The staff are very friendly. The relatively modest price reflects that though a pretty chateau it is in dire need of some interior upgrading of decorations and facilities. However breakfast on the morning after the competition on the terrace overlooking the park and the swimming pool (not tried, but looks good!), was a pleasure in perfect summer weather with very pretty views - a real mini holiday!
Cons: bathroom with shower over slippery bath was only adequate, but no more.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beds really comfy but, best if all, the staff were really welcoming. Vincent and Hassan in the restaurant stood out. On the subject of food, don't miss out on the chocolate fondont. You'll want more!
Cons: Nothing of note.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is very nice although it need a bit of renovation.
Cons: The breakfast could be better, there was no fresh juice and it was a little poor. They did have nice jams and bread but that's about it. Could be much nicer.

Pros: Lovely property....with an excellent pool. Our evening meal was first class.
Cons: Some of the furnishings/bathroom were quite dated. Fire alarm went off at 12.30pm.........no staff attended to tell us it was a false alarm. After 10 minutes the alarm went silent....still no staff, so we returned to our room.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful building full of character. The swimming pool area was excellent. Nice terrace for enjoying an evening drink with nice view of Rodez. Within walking distance of city centre (45 mins). Free car parking.
Cons: Hallways were a bit tired which gave me an initial bad first impression. However, the rest of the hotel was really nice. No air con in room which wasn't a problem for us because of the weather we had. Might be an issue in height of summer.
7.0 Good
Cons: We needed to check out early in the morning (6:00 am) but they do not have 24h service :s and they do not announce it either, so we had to wait until the receptionist arrived to be able to do the check out! Once she arrived everything was supper fast but it was very frustration to have to wait for her since the person in watch didn’t know how to do the check out
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous old building, with excellent views of Rodez from the terrace. The pool was very welcome after a day in the car. A delicious champagne as an aperitif. We loved it
Cons: Slightly formal staff, though they were helpful. Restaurant good but not outstanding.
