On mid-October, 2010, I stayed eight nights at the Orange Creek Inn. My room was immaculate: freshly painted with fine tile floors throughout. All the furnishings, including the bathroom and kitchen nook, were in excellent shape. Nice TV. The hotel has welcoming, friendly hosts. They seems to handle the business side and operates a good grocery store on the first floor. The grounds are nicely laid out and well maintained. This is all especially very wonderful when one considers that Cat Island is fairly cut off from the rest of the world. It is expensive and a lot of trouble to get materials and supplies, including groceries, to the island. I have visited three of the ex-pat operated hotels on the island and I'd take the Bahamian owned and operated Orange Creek Inn any day. Given that, in any case, a visitor really needs to rent a car to experience this screamingly beautiful island, the Orange Creek Inn is situated perfectly for quiet evenings near a very scenic part of the far North coast. There are truly heavenly beaches all along the coast. Some of them are fairly hidden and all of them, in my experience, were deserted of other people. There are sitting spots more beautiful than words can tell. The Snorkeling is excellent but you have to learn where to look for it. This is an island to explore. Great adventure. Safe as your own back yard. I wish i could just live through that same vacation over again!
