Pros: Ideally situated for easy drive to Santander - very convenient. Very clean, lovely meal, big menu and large portions.
Cons: Nothing. We visited Fontibre on our way which was lovely down by the river.
Pros: Our third stay here, and as fabulous as before. The room was quiet, clean and really comfortable - best nights sleep for ages. Our rate included a very filling three course menu. We chose mountain soup, croquettes and home made blackberry cake - just what we fancied. We enjoyed our dinner so much, we didn't have room for the full breakfast (cheese and ham toasties)! However, we very much enjoyed the cereals, pastries, cakes and juice. Thoroughly recommend staying here - good as a stop if you're heading south, or for a few days exploring.

It was wonderful to see so many Romanesque churches but visit the Interpretation Centre in Villacantid first. It's amazing to see how they were changed from the 12th century onwards. Another site not to be missed is Juliobriga with Roman forum and Romanesque church probably built on site of Roman Temple perhaps Jupiter.
