Pros: Entering the area, the world just felt like it stopped to turn. It's such a wonderful place, absolutely beautiful and full of ambiance and history. We stayed in the room with a private sauna. It was expensive, but totally worth it! Dinner was lovely and we slept like babies. An amazing stay which took us back a hundred years and yet brought us inte the very presence.
Cons: We loved everything except perhaps the breakfast. Having had dinner here last night, we felt like the leftovers was turned into breakfast the day after. This is NOT your traditional breakfast, but still wonderful with lots of fish and local produce.
Pros: Super kind and thoughtful customer service. Amongst the best I have ever experienced in Finland. Warmly, highly and honestly recommend destination!
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff.
Pros: Friendly staff, good breakfast. Great experience to stay in a farming place rather than in the city but while still only a short drive away.
Cons: Small bathroom and the uncomfortable bed.
Pros: The very quiet , rather isolated location. The fabulous concept with a onsite kavila, where delicious homemade snacks were offered. The very very friendly aproach by staff and owner. A no nosence atmosphere
Cons: There’s nothing, “WE” can imagine, people complain about.
Pros: Very nice location. Very friendly people.
Cons: Breakfast could be more variable. Reception and restaurant close at 6pm.
Pros: Everything was great, would totally recommend Tertin Kartano! Great value for money and best customer service probably ever :)
Pros: Everything was just SUPER!!!! (as always!!!)
Pros: Amazing staff who were so welcoming. Incredible food!
Cons: More furniture in the room
With a stay at Tuukkalan tila B & B in Mikkeli, you'll be 13.1 mi (21.1 km) from Urheilupuisto and 13.2 mi (21.2 km) from Mikkelipuisto Park. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Excellent breakfast, nice host and the cutest chicken!
Pros: Easy to find. It was in the country. Our hosts were friendly, attentive, helpful and spoke English which was wonderful for us. Breakfast was excellent.
Pros: The breakfast was excellent with home made breads, and porridge and fruit and apple juice from the garden. The B & B is run by a lovely couple and the shared kitchen and breakfast facilities are a good way to meet fellow travellers.
Pros: Breakfast was excellent, traditional Finnish service. Room was basic but it did what we expected. Good B&B!
Cons: Bed was too soft and flimsy.
Pros: Perfect inexpensive accommodation. I stayed after a long hike at Repovesi NP. Breakfast was great and good conversation with owner who was taking a break from harvesting his fields. Lots of tips on where to see in the area as well.
Pros: The breakfast was fantastic. Most all the fruit was grown on site. The smoked salmon was a treat. The waffles very good with the home made apple sauce.
Set in a refurbished 1882 building, Huoneistohotelli Marja is within 10 minutes' walk of central Mikkeli. All accommodation options include private kitchen facilities. Wi-Fi and on-site parking are free. Overlooking the garden, Marja’s options feature wooden floors, a TV and a bathroom with shower. Kitchen facilities include a microwave, fridge and dining area. The hotel has a gift shop. In summer, guests can grill on the terrace. A hiking trail runs right by the hotel. A grocery shop is less than a 5-minute walk from Marja, while Mikkeli Station and Mikkeli Cathedral are within 1.5 km. Mikkeli Congress Centre is reached in 20 minutes by foot.
Pros: I liked the interior; there was also everything for a short stay and I got a bigger room that I had reserved. Quiet neighbourhood, walking distance to Matkakeskus and city centre. Sunday evening check in was no problem.
Pros: Very nice! Really love this hotel
Pros: Cozy, old building. All rooms different, good beds, room was big enough. Peaceful environment in old army facilities. Walking distance from city center. Army museum in neighborhood, which is nice (I didn't visit in it). Friendly staff and good breakfast buffet. Coffee maker in room, fridge also.
Cons: No air conditioning. Even in Finland this summer it has been really necessary. Otherwise no anything negative.
Pros: A very good choice to stay in Mikkeli. Old fashioned and comfortable hostel in the old wooden distict, close to city centre and natural surroundings - parks, lakes, forest and recreation areas. Tasty and diverse breakfast.
Pros: Old wooden houses close to the city centre. Nice breakfast with homemade porridge and pan cakes. We went for a morning walk around a small lake Urpolanlampi which is quite close (less than 1 km).
Cons: It is not a fancy hotel but we were not expecting that either. Good breakfast and silent room!
Pros: Lovely setting - very quiet. Like staying in a cottage or the like. Superb homemade breakfast. Staff super friendly. Got a great night's sleep. A welcome change from chain hotels.
Cons: It's a bit of a walk from the city centre, but manageable.
Pros: Good atmospheric place. Ideal for cozy and relax after activities and driving. Museum surroundings
Pros: Great personal, cosy and genuine atmosphere. Great breakfast for the money.
Pros: Spacious, comfortable, everything you’d need.
Pros: I love the place! This is my second time in this facility. I love the rooms, their set up and simple but sweet décor, the location. I like the small kitchenette where I can prepare my meals.
Cons: Maybe the staff could pay a little more attention to the cleanliness of the kitchenette, but no major complaints regarding that, either. Cannot mention anything else. Like I said, I love this place and wish I could have stayed a little longer in the hotel. It is my old hometown.
Located in Mikkeli, Gasthaus Mikkeli is within a 5-minute drive of Urheilupuisto and Mikkeli Cathedral. Featured amenities include a computer station, multilingual staff, and microwave in a common area. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Lovely people who run this place. The location: quiet and friendly. It feels safe. A lot of guests would like the tea, coffee and cookies that are always available in the kitchen.
Cons: If you know what you are getting into then everything works out reasonably well, and the guesthouse gets 10 points. If you a "burly" man working a construction job in Mikkeli it's a perfect place for you. The room has an odd smell, but, perhaps, a lot of people wouldn't even notice it and scented detergens are used: again, maybe, a plus for some (I have allergies). Darkish and musty. I expect a shared kitchen to be cleaner.
Pros: Nice and comfort place to spend night and good shower.
Pros: Cheap price, big rooms, dog friendly
Cons: Facilities were outdated and corridors cluttered with random items
Pros: The owner was friendly, nice and clean room, cookies on the kitchen, located in quite place.
Cons: The bathroom could've been a bit cleaner
Pros: Moderate place with reasonable price much under normal Finnish prices.
Pros: This was one of the best hotels we stayed at for a few reasons. Easy to get your room, passcode provided prior to arrival so just enjoy the free parking and go straight to your room. The placement of electrical outlets, lights and shelves was logical. Two desk areas was great, lots of room for luggage also. Nice to have a sofa living area in addition to the bed. The large window overlooked a peaceful forest. Beds were comfortable, the place was clean. I would recommend this hotel. Note that it is not in the centre of town, but that is also what I liked about it. There is a common area at the hotel but we didn't use it during our stay.
Cons: All good
Cons: Put mosquito nets on the windows. We came to Finland when it was about 28 degrees. During night as no aircon (normal for Finland as weather does not require one) was too stuffy. We have decided to open the window and then as the hotel is facing the forest were eaten by mosquitos, so had to close it and sleep in very warm and stuffy room.
Cons: 16:00 pm I didn’t catch this fact when I’ve booked. That was the problem, when I’ve arrived in 10 am.
Pros: Location was great (extremely quiet) plus plenty of parking spaces. Access into room was very simple with using key codes provided by email (no staff on site at all - that's how it's run) - if you do have any issues there is a notice with 'help' phone numbers. Room was huge as was the TV. Microwave & fridge in the room
Pros: Easy to use, big parking place, fan in the room.
Cons: A little bit far from city centre.
Pros: Wonderful place to stay, I loved every moment of it! It's not a very central location, but the beautiful forest and stream just behind the hotel makes up for that. There's no breakfast, but you get a big fridge and microwave. Very easy to check in via code, and no keys to fumble with. The room was surprisingly large, with two desks and a sofa.
Cons: I had trouble finding the sauna; there should be a more obvious sign pointing towards it. I also wish there was a microwaveable cup and plate instead of paper plates and cups.
Pros: Easy check in, nice room, reasonable price.
Cons: No staff, only phone numbers which answer in Finnish. Ordering a taxi was quite a challenging task. Cleaning lady helped us out.
Pros: The purpose for us to stay in the hotel is to attend a concert in Mikkeli. The concert hall is very close to the hotel, 5 minutes to walk. The hotel is so quiet and we can see a beautiful pine forest right outside the window. Facilities are simple but enough for a short stay. We didn’t see a single stuff member.
Cons: Liquid soap is already empty! Cleaner should always check it.
Pros: There was no breakfast. Liked the location otherwise, but no chance to eat.
Comfortable and charming hotel with an indoor pool in the centre of Mikkeli. From here, it is easy to explore life in Savonia and to enjoy a good night’s sleep.
Pros: Friendly staff, clean room and comfy beds. . The buffet breakfast was grand with a wide range and early start (0630). Ideal location to the town market and train station.
Pros: Good city hotel, very quiet, easy to find. Very good breakfast, free parking. Kind staff
Cons: The heating temperature was really too high: we lowered the thermostat, but it wasn't enough. Also the windows were locked and could not be opened. Shower had curtain and not glass wall, so the bathroom floor got wet
Pros: Good breakfast.goid location
Cons: We booked doubke room for two. We got single one with bed for two. After we complaine Credit us they
Pros: Very nice hotel. Efficient receptionist. Trouble- and costfree parking. Centrally located. Nothing to complain about.
Pros: Breakfast was good
Cons: No facilities in room to make a coffee - tea had to buy at reception Restaurant closed on Sunday
Pros: Really friendly staff at check-in and in the restaurant.
Pros: The room was very clean and comfortable, had a really good stay.
Cons: I'd love to have a fridge or kettle, but over all the experience was excellent.
Pros: Nice Scandic standard. The best hotel in Mikkeli.
Pros: The breakfast was excellent. The good location, at the city center.
Cons: I told to cleaning staff that my room was cold. They did put the heat higher but of course that didn't work because an air-conditioner was on high. My niece came to visit me and noticed the problem so I turned it off and had a few warmer days. I should read the small print of instructions as I went so it was partly my own fault. The weather was cool and rainy on that week in Mikkeli. I slept very good anyway.
Pros: Posh, friendly, clean and comfortable. Good breakfast. Lots of options for taste and dietary requirements.
Cons: Everything was perfect for our requirement of a stay over whilst cycle touring.
Pros: Breakfast was served even early in the morning.
Pros: convenient location, staff is good, comfortable room.
Pros: The staff here are always friendly and helpfull. Excellent location for the town and easy parking. The rooms are well decorated but they really need a fan in them as they can get a bit stuffy.
Cons: The gym is quite old and needs refurbishment.
Pros: Mikkeli has many museums and vacation spots, but, unfortunately, the most part of them works since June.
Cons: In our room it was cold. The conditioner has no independent regulation. In restaurant of hotel prepare it is very tasty. The personnel attentive.
Pros: A wonderful hotel, very friendly (and also dog-friendly). I liked everything.
Pros: We like breakfast and quit
Cons: in one room heating system was broken and it was very hot during a night
Pros: Very good location in the centre of the city. Availability of parking. Excellent breakfast. Excellent sauna. Very friendly personnel.
Cons: One of the rooms - 318 was rather cold due to metal window frame pumping heat to outside. The other room was veru warm and comfortable.
Pros: Room was recently renovated with style and with good workmanship. Clean and ordely. Energy saving had been taken into consideration when planning the interior. breakfast was excellent.
Original Sokos Hotel Vaakuna Mikkeli is centrally located in Mikkeli, a 4-minute walk from Urheilupuisto and 8 minutes by foot from Mikkeli Cathedral. Featured amenities include express check-in, express check-out, and complimentary newspapers in the lobby. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
Pros: Good, clean hotel.
Pros: Good location, easily accessible by car and public transport. Short distance to the lake shore and the city. Standard room was spacious and very clean. Friendly and welcoming staff.
Cons: The lay-out and quality of the breakfast could have been better. There were local products but all in all the choice was not that abundant. This might however be due the dates (on Christmas).
Pros: The willingness of the staff to advise us about the local area as we had not been to Mikkeli before. And the ability to keep the room a couple of extra hours on departure day. The breakfast was excellent.
Cons: There is nothing that I did not like about our stay as everything was fine s and very professionally handled. This question doesn't really apply to us as the stay was well worth the money and we have no complaints at all..
Pros: Comfortable bed. Good shower.
Cons: Wifi was slow at times. Forced-air heating/cooling system made alot of noise. The first night I needed earplugs to sleep
Pros: Enough calm to sleep well
Cons: Expensive according to the comfortable
Pros: Stayed here one night on a business trip. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The room i stayed in was recently renovated, which was nice. rooms equipped with iron and board! need to get those wrinkles out. The wifi was very good. The breakfast was very good for such a hotel. I appreciated the home made local bread.
Cons: no minibar, however it was easy to get lots of stuff from the lounge bar.
Pros: A nice hotel of the hotel chain. Clean and comfortable. With a super breakfast. Surely I do recommend it for a stay.
Cons: Well, I travelled by car. Unfortunatelly, parking is not included and will be charged extra, but that's not a big deal.
Pros: Everything was great
Cons: Impossible to sleep before 4am due to terrible noise from the night club. Also otherwise value for money was poor.
The Kyyhkylä Hotel and Manor is an ideal spot for travelers wanting to discover the city. This property features Wi-Fi in designated areas. The hotel is conveniently located a short 11km drive from Mikkeli. After a long day of sightseeing, guests can retire to the comfort of the hotel.
Pros: Room was tidy. The spa area is lovely! Breakfast was good and in the beautiful manor house. Location is queit and peaceful and the road there extremely beautiful!
Cons: I was dissapointed that the room wasn’t in the manor building. No double beds except in suites. I wished for more local specialities for the breakfast! Location is far from downtown. Reception personnel could have been more prone to customer service
Cons: Alittle hot without air conditioning
Pros: The Rustholli building where the guest rooms are located feels very new. Has a lift, although only two floors, thus utmost comfortable for those with "weak knees". The room is not so big, but has modern amenities (free wifi, flat screen TV), but no fridge. Bathroom was spotless clean with practical shower cabin. Enough space to store your personal "beauty items" on the shelves. The old manor house has a restaurant and is used in the mornings for the sumptuous breakfast buffet. Breakfast buffet left nothing more to wish for. Perfect start for a day! Panoramic views to the lake from the lake side sauna terrace and jetty. Huge garden to walk around, even a fitness trail starting from hotel's own beach. Complete wellness center belongs to the hotel, some 200 m away. We did not visit it. Excellent value for money!
Cons: We cannot think of anything we didn't like!
Pros: Summertime, beautiful grounds with trails to explore and a swimming beach nearby, and it smells so great. Beautiful balcony view of mature trees and lake. Very close to nature.
Cons: Actual room was a WiFi dead zone.
Pros: Beautiful, clean, accommodation, beautiful location & nice activity area (tennis, mini golf, trampoline etc.)
Cons: Only thing was that there were no evening meals served. Only starting in July.
Pros: Stunning location right on the lake with charming rooms in the Manor house. Even a sauna on our floor.
Pros: The history associated with the Manor and the design features within. The gardens and the lake frontage were a beautiful setting.
Cons: Could have been better sign posted as we had to drive through a new estate and past a golf course which seemed to get better signage.
Pros: The manor, where the breakfast is served
Cons: Wi-Fi is not working properly (before totally out of use, after very slow). Only a part of the room is well covered by Wi-Fi signal The scheduling for breakfast and swimming pool is limited and uncomfortable (breakfast only from 07.30 - 9.00, swimming pool one or two hours per day) The breakfast was not good: old and not crunchy biscuits and the buffet is not properly refilled bt the staff A lot of dead and alive insects in the room The room is very simple
