Atmosphere and staff service
We love this place. A gorgeous quiet hotel that puts work way out of your mind. Great place to relax and unwind.
Hotel Schloss Durnstein was a wonderful treat! We had 15 year old daughter with us and she felt like a princess. The hotel restaurant was excellent. Our eyes rolled when they brought out the chocolate cherry dessert. Elegant display and service. Another favorite was the spa. It was beautiful and we had the entire pool to ourselves. Daughter loved the tanning solarium
This is a great hotel with wonderful history. It is a great place to begin exploring the wine area and medieval towns along the Danube. The town is adorable and there are cool ruins a short walk up the hill.
Everything, great room, impeccable service, excellent food. Our first experience with Booking.com was exceptional! None
Romantic atmosphere, perfect service and cuisine, stuff was very helpful
Situated directly on the Danube in a gorgeous region of Austria, the Hotel Schloss Durnstein is a wonderful hotel -- great rooms with fantastic views and a very pleasant and helpful staff. Breakfast on the terrace above the Danube was a highlight of our trip.
We had a truly lovely time, from the beginning to the end. We carried huge luggage but they gave us a lift from the pier to the hotel entrance, (we will remember the kindness and patience of the driver who went all through the crowded road) the room was upgraded and superb, the staff helpful and meals delicious. We regret we only stayed one night. I would change the curtains, though there were sun screens so not a real problem. But it would be nicer if they were practical as well, not just decorations.
Food, Danube terrace, Swimming Pool, Hotel atmosphere, Lack of aircondition, reservation system was not up to date, no internet access at the room, too much German speaking TV channels,
Breakfast was excellent, hotel very clean, splendid view. The hotel is quite hard to find, it is a little too far from the town. The bed had a radio placed at the top of the bed on the middle, very annoying for was because our child slept with us and he kept hurting his head.
We liked the relaxing atmosphere of the hotel, and the restaurant was excellent. We had a lot of difficulty in finding the way in. It turned out to be a very sharp turn through a hole in the wall under the railway line - off a very busy road.
The hotel was clean It6 was too far to walk into durnstein.Right on the road but not too noisy at night Drinks very expensive for own vinyard No
Very friendly staff, lovely rooms (suites really) and super food. Thoroughly recommended - beautiful location.
the staff was very kind the food (evening ) was excellent the rooms were big clean and comfort hard to find the entarance from the road
Nice room. Nicely appointed. Very energetic, friendly and helpful staff. Outside of town. Too far to walk, certainly in hot weather, but parking in town is easy.
Very friendly and accommodating staff. Not easy to find. Street address listed does not exist so our GPS could not find hotel.
staff pleasant and helpful; good food Great selection at brkf. There was construction going on in the front remodeling garden and pool. It was noisy and by the restaurant when we were trying to eat dinner. They worked until late, about 7pm and started again early at about 730am which is early if you are on a vacation and may want to sleep in.
This hotel was in an excellent location and the staff tried to be helpful. There was a restaurant in the hotel which was a bonus. Two light bulbs did not work which was annoying
location is excellent, right in town centre and easy walk from the river terminus. Also a good choice of fresh food for breakfast bed was practical rather than luxurious and internet facilities were limited
the difficult to carry our luggage until our room at the end of the building
Family owned. They were friendly and helpful. Nice room. Good food. Convienient to the Abbey and the river cruise.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice and very lean. It was a great location in a great little town
Charming small hotel in excellent location. Very nice restaurant. Rooms are comfortable but aging.
Breakfast - both layout and the restaurant ambiance. Somewhat noisy at night.
The restaurant was quite good and hotel staff was very kind.
The quality of the food (fresness, taste,......).
The staff was wonderful
This was my 3rd stay at the hotel. Obviously I like it very much. I love the warm reception, the friendly staff, the beautiful antiques, the large, comfortable, clean rooms, the Danube views, the excellent cuisine, the extensive list of superior Wachau wines and sitting on the terrace for meals. The management clearly cares about maintaining and consistently imoroving the hotel. George M.
Very nice and cozy atmosphere, friendly and kind staff, no problem with speaking english, good location for walking around the town.
Quiet location for relaxing stay. Good facilities and food.
The location was terrific. The bed was a rock. Staff was not great, just ok.
Domestic kitchen, fantastic wine, quiet place
warm medieval atmosphere, great dining, beautiful setting and view of the river Danube, fabulous location in old city of Durnstein n/a
I liked the help given by the staff at reception and the duvets and bathroom and other amenities provided inthe room. Although luxuries were provided in the room it was very inconvenient--- not enough space to lay things in bathroom,No drawers for storage, the shelves which might have been used were taken up by blankets. robes, pool towels, and safe leaving only 2 empty shelves at a low and inconvenient level. The surface space in the room was minimal and further reduced by brochures etc.In view of the fact that I booked very early I should have been given a room with a view of the water.
The room had a nice view facing the park with a lot of rose flowers.
We were disappointed of the hotel. The staff was not very friendly (zigarettes in the hand when we brought back the bicicle and so on). For a 4 Star hotel no mini bar!!!! we never have seen this!!
Nice and confortable hotel but a little bit old fashion.According to the standing of the hotel some add ons or updatse would be welcome : fitness centre, real free wifi, meals less old fashion style, reception more dynamic and more helpfull.
the terrace and dining areas, and the friendliness of the staff
The bathroom was spacious I thought the serving staff could have been friendlier
the hotel was very nice, clean, excellent.... no, everything was excellent.
Clean, comfortable room, excellent bathroom, fabulous restaurant - 5 stars
At first impression quite ordinary (for the Wachau, which has quite a hight standard), but the service is extraordinarily good because of the manager, who takes a very personal interest. The location is great, the amenities are all sufficient, and the breakfast is bountiful. no.
The very kind, personal attention of this family-run hotel. Moreover, the excellent breakfast.
good service, family run business, nicely decorated country rooms, excellent breakfast unfotunat;y no garden access to relax in this beautiful surroundings, just a small terrace
Staff were wonderful - very friendly, breakfast was the best we had in Europe. Great location.
Just about everything, especially the warmth of the personnel, the comfort and the location.
The friendliness of the staff, the fact that it's basically touching the Danube, the beautiful village, the surroundings, the beauty of the scenery and the friendliness of the staff. Breakfast was good, varied and plentiful. It also accepts pets at no extra charge. It's also tastefully decorated. No.
Being wonderfully located on the Danube bank, the hotel offers a high quality service and personal, cosy atmosphere. The manager is outstandingly helpful, the rooms are nice and quiet, and the breakfast is plentiful.
very pleasant staff, beautiful hotel, lovely spacious room
The lounge arrangement The shower should be on the wall
Beautiful old building in Weissenkirchen, a wonderful little town with many heurigen. It would have been nice to eat dinner in the beautiful hall of the hotel unfortunately only breakfast served.
It probably is one of the best hotels whithin the Wachau region, very well located, opposite the Danube river. The bedroom was spacious and furnished tastefully, including a bathroom and separate toilets. Breakfast was excellent and the staff was very helpful and kind. There was no air cond. It was very hot when we stayed. You can hear traffic from the road when opening the windows together with lovely bird singing early in the morning ;-)
Ancient Ship Master's House that has been convereted into a romantic hotel. Everywhere you look is art or a book that makes you want to learn more. The breakfast was the best during a 2-week trip, including a mocha walnut torte, fresh cheese plates and more. Very friendly staff toppped it off. Mattress needs update. Springs made it uncomfortable. Room 11.
Family owned and run. Very friendly and accommodating staff . The area was very nice. nothing
Spacious, quiet rooms with comfortable beds in a small not so touristic village. Modern comfort nicely integrated in an ancient historic building. Good service. Superb breakfast, one of the best ever. No airconditioning.
The staff was very friendly and helpful This is not a four star hotel it is maximum three stars therefore I consider the price a little too expensive
Good place, staff, comfort, design, food
Staff were helpful. Light meant to illuminate hotel was shining into our room at night.
Location was excellent and staff were able to accomadate our bikes. Romm was very good value and breakfast was good.
very quaint and comfortable. Lovely breakfast buffet available at 7:00 am for people who needed or wanted to be up and out early.
Loved the outside garden restaurant! Also appreciated having an area inside to smoke. Breakfast was wonderful!
Room was rather gloomy.
Setting, cleansiness Close to the main road
I felt that the room price was high in comparison with other Austrian hotels that we have stayed in.
quality price was perfect. staff friendly and competent. swimming pool, etc. for the type of hotel was perfect. staff did cope very well with the high water of the "Donau problems very wel. The rooms are well equipped and very large; comfortable for staying inside by bad weather. Well situated for making trips, cycling, walking, etc. Night time very quiet. Only disadvantage the rooms with balcony are positioned around the entrance square where people do not always realise that they speak loud, etc. But in general quite quiet.
The hotel was quite nice and had excellent facilities. They overbooked, so put us in a different hotel in a different town for the first night. We were meeting friends there, so being in different towns was not very convenient. The hotel handled things very pleasantly, but should not have allowed other guests to extend their stay so there was no room for us the first night.
Pretty little hotel. Nice indoor swimming pool. Location is in a tiny residential area. Not even a town center to go to.
The food was excellent. The pool is indoors so you can enjoy it in any weather. Difficulty communicating. Most staff doesn't speak English and one can feel ignored or isolated when you try to greet them or speak.
The room was very spacious and clean. The breakfast had wide choices of cold and warm food. Since I arrived late the night and left early for the Melk Abbey, I regretted not able to try out the indoor pool and sauna. I would definitely recommend it to anyone travelling with a car. (One probably irrelevant point: most of the paintings hung inside the hotels and the room were beautiful.)
evening meal was excellant; one or two members of staff were very friendly and helpful. Holel and restaurant have good ambience. swimming pool was too cold. Spa was also cool and we had to keep getting out to switch it back on 20yds away One member of staff was very curt and unwelcoming. Room was huge but lay-out could have been better. Separate toilet with no hand basin. All information at hotel is in German. A little info in English would have felt more welcoming
Quaint hotel on the Danube River, a few miles from the Melk Abbey. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful, and the cooking excellent.
Staff amability. Very small bathroom.Room refurbishment needed. No air conditioning.Poor breakfast.
The menu in the restaurant was uninspiring. Between the hotel and the river, there is a busy road, which was really very annoying.
Tres beau paysage. Calme, silence, on se reveille au chant des oiseaux. les proprietaires sont charmants et souriants. Les odeurs de fritures et d'ail venant de la cuisine a l'heure du petit dejeuner.........
Friendly staff. Good service
I liked the room, the meals, the staff. I think the staff are flexible and polite.
Great place with big rooms, very accomodating staff/owner, nice view of the Danube from the bier garten, good food. Nothing, we would return again.
We enjoyed the hotel and being able to walk along the shores of the Danube as well as seeing the river from our room windows. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
We liked the room, the staff and the breakfast. The view from the dining room was over the Danube which is just across the road. No, but be careful that your sat-nav does not take you to one of the other 2 hotels nearby with the same name!
attention of the staf the food is poor, but it is all over the area in these kind of hotels.
