When you stay at Paradis d' Ouvea in Ouvea, you'll be on the beach and within the vicinity of Fayaoue Church. Featured amenities include a business center, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and dry cleaning/laundry services. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available on request), and free valet parking is available onsite.
Pros: Let's start by saying that this hotel is very expensive , but is the only real option if you go to this beautiful atoll . That's unless you want extremely basic camping or tribal huts . There is one other hotel in the village , but it did not look great to us at all. Having said the above , it does provide a degree of absolute luxury on a stunning beach . The rooms are supersized and well furnished- ours was right on the beach Service was great and the staff were exceptionally friendly. The main restaurant was a bit up and down - some excellent meals , some not great for this type of resort. Wonderful breakfasts and great coffee
Cons: Lack of hot water on 2 occasions The swimming pool - which was lovely - was closed for the last 2 days we were there for maintenance , but we did not see any work being done - no discount was offered for the lack of this amenity at this luxury resort- which many hotels have done in the past Main restaurant was a bit of hit and miss - and maybe there is a need for a bit more variety . There are a large number of visitors from Japan , so maybe a few dishes from Japan would provide a bit more variety Snack bar was pretty good Ouvea is a stunning destination
Pros: Location and friendly helpful staff. Eg. The travel desk helped me organize a last minute boat trip, the ground staff were always friendly and the reception staff were helpful when I got bitten by a dog etc. The room was well equipped with a great view of Mouli Beach.
Pros: Confort and location are incredible .
Cons: Restaurant is not at level as it should be. a lot of things are missing .
Cons: No Wi-Fi on the Room (Bungalow), far from the Reception Lobby. Receptionist a bit far from their own job, no gentleness, no helpful with my information questions. Very hard to get extra shower towels for shower and bath.
Pros: AMAZING Location. Any minor shortcomings of the hotel are swept away by the beauty of the Mouli Beach. Please keep in mind that this is a VERY small island, in a VERY remote location. If you are expecting the 5 star service of large hotel in a city, you are looking in the wrong place. We had a magnificent stay in Paradise. The room was very comfortable, with a picture postcard view from every angle. We ate at the hotel for breakfast, some lunches and some dinners. The food was perfectly fine - You have to be understanding that this is an isolated location and they may not always have everything on the menu. The dinners were highly priced, with smaller portions. We ate lunch from the poolside bar, which was quite reasonably priced. Overall prices were high, but in line with the rest of New Caledonia. We had very little problem with smokers anywhere - and not in the restaurant at all. The beach is just magnificent. Prior to our stay, we were a the Le Meridien in Noumea, but would have traded that for more nights here without a doubt. So relaxing. Wifi was great, ac was cold on the warm nights, water was fresh, room was clean.
Cons: Our airport transfer wasn't great - The hotel arranged it for us, but there were too many guests on our plane for their van to carry. We waited an hour at the airport for another shuttle to collect us and the other remaining guests. But we soon forgot all about that and had a wonderful stay.
Pros: The place itself is absolutely stunning. The sea has unbelievable shades of blue and the beach is beautiful and wild.
Cons: The resort needs a restyling also in terms of service. Otherwise the high prices are not justified.
Pros: The location and scenery are amazing. wonderful white sand beach and a sea of colours you could only dream of - right in front of your bungalow. A lot of privacy and perfect relaxing on your terrace. The bungalows are also great - spacious and nice (apart some broken things, e.g. shower holder, which you would expect to work in a bungalow you pay 540 euros per night).
Cons: The management and the staff unfortunately are very poor: many things just did not work out (e.g. the rental scooter that should have been waiting for us at the airport; the whirlpool of our "spa bungalow" was empty, just on the 2nd day it was filled with water; not even a complimentary water bottle on arrival in your bungalow - also none you could pay for (the "mini-bar" was just an empty fridge during the entire stay, although it says on the brochure it gets filled every day) etc etc. Hate to say it, but the staff (apart from 2-3 exceptions) was very unfriendly all the time - they simply don't care about you; whatever request you have, everybody just tries to send you to someone else - nobody cares; and no matter how friendly you are, you hardly get a "hello" or a smile back. Don't know what the reason is (bad payment? bad treatment? bad management?), but we never met in any place such unfriendly, non-caring staff (and we travel a lot). maybe it is because we do not speak french, but still you would expect better treatment and service in a place you pay 540 euro per night. nobody from the management ever showed up at dinner or brekafast or so, to see if everything was fine. they don't seem to care much either. Breakfast buffet was ok/good, but the restaurant for us was very bad - very poor selection (the menu is small and never changed) and for me as a vegetarian there was simply NOTHING. I am vegetarian since about 25 years and we travel a lot (to southeast asia, africa, south pacific etc) and I never experienced anywhere such difficulties to get something proper to eat. I guess if the staff had cared more, somehow it would have worked (cause its them communicating with the kitchen), but they did not care and I was only able to get very poor food (e.g. pasta with butter and nothing else). The silvester buffet (100€p.p.
Pros: Good beach
Cons: I was disappointed that there was no option provided by the hotel to travel to a reef area for snorkelling (either by boat or by shuttle)
Pros: Excellent Wifi and beautiful beach
Cons: - hotel staff not welcoming and lack of staff (long waiting time in the restaurant and many times nobody at the bar). Well knowing that it was holiday season, the management should plan accordingly. - à la carte food of the restaurant was below average (cold, small portions, not well presented, not as ordered (e.g. beef was well done instead of rare)) - house keeping forgotten once, plus no fresh towels every day - nothing to drink in the bungalow, not even a bottle of water AND no bini-bar (although mentionned in the „welcome booklet“ - personally I think it‘s unacceptable for a hotel of this price range - no showers at disposal after check-out if leaving in the evening
