Pros: Signage was clear and we had no trouble finding our way in to the unit at the back of the complex, very quiet. Our unit was new and spotlessly clean. There was heating, an electric blanket and a heated towel-rail. Hot chocolate, tea, coffee and plunger coffee were all generously supplied. The location was perfect, everything was within walking distance, including fresh milk directly from the dairy farm! Also the art gallery, Emmas Bookshop, local craft store, wine-bar, cafes and grocery shops. We were able to comfortably entertain family members and will unhesitatingly book the Oxford Village Motel on future visits.

The highlight however was the dinners Robert prepared each evening. They are reasonably priced and so delicious. The best meals we have had in New Zealand by far. The flavour combinations, the presentation...everything was superb. We are still talking about it.

Pros: Cosy & clean & helpful hosts
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners were great and loved their little paradise away from civilization. Made me feel welcome and it was a nice place to wake up in.
Cons: Nothing, I wish I could've stayed longer
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely furnished hut in very attractive garden. Comfortable bed, lovely view from windows. The family were wonderful - charming and helpful. Exceptionally nice ambience. The heating works fine, and i was very comfortable there.
Cons: It isn't easy to find the address and there need to be instructions to help. Knowing that '93' is actually the number of metres from the junction rather than a consecutive house number would have helped; also it is easier to get there from Darfield than from SH1 - the latter involves some gravel road and fords (luckily dry that day). Payment to the host fine but I needed to know it was in currency: lucky I had enough on me. Had i known I could do a bank transfer i would have. The shared bathroom facilities fine but in the main house - involves walk in dark garden if you pee in the night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is peaceful and quiet- perfect wind down after a long flight. Karen is the supreme host!! She is a dream. The bed was awesome and soft. Sitting under the walnut tree having a wine was beautiful at sunset. Ashburton is worth a visit and I went for a swim in the Waimakariri River just 25 mins away- that was gorgeous. Great value.
Cons: People with mobility issues may have trouble with going to the toilet at night as it's in the main house. This wasn't a problem for us.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The meals were lovely.
Cons: We had nowhere to get water from except from a jug of water provided in the fridge and nowhere to tip water or wash up cups except in the allocated sink in the main house. The sink was old and not very clean and lacked privacy to brush our teeth etc. The sink and toilet were outside the sons bedroom which made it very uncomfortable for us. We also felt uncomfortable using the family shower. There was nowhere to put anything of ours in the cabin or in the shower. We also disliked their dog running up to us after a long journey. Although we love dogs it was too much to cope with.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the hospitality of the owners and their family. We felt immediately welcome and comfortable. The meals provided at extra cost were excellent and good value and the accommodation was unique with thoughtful touches e.g. Handmade soap.
Cons: We liked everything!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely quiet location. Comfortable cabin, charming hosts and friendly animals
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. From the welcoming, the gorgeous cottage, the cuddly animals. Such a beauty of a spot and a wonderful find for a stay near Darfield.
Cons: No hooks in the room for towels/coats or tissues- but this is hardly anything to complain about!!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Dinner and Breakfast were very nice - especially at the first day (@Karen: scored! ;) ). We really enjoyed the peaceful place which was obviously created with love.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Karen & Nick made you feel like family. The animals were entertaining (Benji the parrot took a liking to my bare feet.) The garden. The tranquil location. The bed. We didn't want to leave.

Cons: Our fault but the initial booking was for a double room. When you looked at facilities there seemed to be everything we needed but when we got there we realised those facilities were shared. My days of sharing toilets are long gone! However the did let us hire an attached bungalow so we could have privacy, but reasonably, at a cost.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The size of the room we had was great. The parking was right in front of the property.
