Pros: Marie and Jean-Luc are fantastic hosts, the property is beautiful and peaceful. We had a wonderful time.
Pros: Despite the fact that we arrived late in the evening (22 / 2300h) at this last stop of our road trip, we were still warmly welcomed. And we were so happy when she showed us our room! What a wonderfully large (and especially clean !!) room. A nice and big bed and a bathroom with a large walk-in shower. And, everything was fresh and super clean, great way to end your road trip !! Also, the room is cleaned every day. Breakfast was delicious and cozy, with different homemade jams every morning. They both looked after everyone super well! Lovely swimming pool, Jacuzzi, peaceful environment, beautiful garden. Train station nearby, for about 15 euros you have a return Porto for 2 people, but it is also easy to reach by car. Lastly, we were waved goodbye early in the morning (0600), very sweet!!
Cons: Nothing! It was perfect! Wonderful place to end our vacation here. We hope to visit them again one day!
Pros: The Quinta was exceptional. Beautiful, clean, relaxing, gracious hostess.
Pros: The room is really cozy and comfortable. The garden is amazing and peaceful. Very nice and friendly hosts.
Pros: Super nice hosts, Marie and Jean Luc, beautiful property, only minus is for the road. Breakfast great, home made jam, croissant, bread, butter, jogurt, fruit, granola...
Cons: Listen to Marie about the road, gps can navigate you to some realy thiny streets that makes you wonder how can anyone drive there
Pros: We loved the room, the hosts, the location....... We loved EVERYTHING...... OMG the hosts cannot do enough for you.... they are AMAZING...... AWESOME facilities and breakfast.... Loved the pool.... Easy to catch the train into Porto....

Pros: The staff. The great advices on what to visit and where to eat.
Cons: Fantastic venue, great and so friendly staff. IVA and her team are going of their way to help and please. The house is a home away from home. Will return on our next Portugal trip for sure.
Pros: Extremely comfortable place to stay! Very friendly staff who are ready with any type of help all the time. Nice breakfast with fruits, pastries and eggs. Clean and light rooms, pool and loungers. Welcome drink with homemade porto wine:) Also they can organize for you bike trips or excursions, dinner in restaurants nearby and personal taxi driver.
Cons: Everything was excellent.
Pros: Everything super great
Pros: Impeccably clean and beautiful hotel in Penafiel. The staff went out of their way to make you feel at home and like you were visiting family. Every little detail was beautiful, from the napkins at breakfast to the stairs leading up the room. The dinner they offered was one the most memorable and delicious we had during our entire time in Portugal. The owner's port wine that he makes himself is magnificent! Location is peaceful and remote. Perfect for you to do a day trip to Porto. It does take about an hour to get to the Douro wine region, but the hotel is next to a winery famous for its green wine. Breakfast was also the best we had in Portugal!
Pros: We enjoy everything! The staff was very kind and friendly. One of us is intolerant to lactose and the meals were prepared according to this problem
Cons: The bathroom was a little small
Pros: It’s a beautiful, charming hotel with gardens and a swimming pool. We stayed 3 nights with our 2 young children and dog. We felt very welcome as soon as we arrived and were catered for brilliantly. They have children’s corners, plates and cutlery for children and a park outside! The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I recommend 100% if you’re travelling as a couple or a family.
Cons: Nothing, it was really beautiful and we will hopefully return one day!
Pros: Yes it may be a little distance from the centre of Porto ( no bad thing being at peace from the noisy throng?),and you do have to take care on entering the main gateway, ( we had a Volvo X60 and negotiated gingerly the historic portal), but this all pales in comparison to the truly exceptional personal attention we received from the staff!! We were greeted with a genuine warmth of welcome by Barbara and Claudia , and later by Pedro and Patricia. Nothing was too much trouble to make us feel comfortable and at home. There is an atmosphere of peace and kindness that seems to exude from the thick stone blocks of this 19th century manor house that has been expertly restored. The breakfast is delicious, wholesome and satisfying and will be set you up for your day exploring the beauty of valleys and coastland. The Douro valley is a must..and the staff have great suggestions for places to visit. My greatest compliment has to be that I want to return ASAP!!
Pros: My car did not fit through the gate after a few beers
Cons: Staff friendliness
Pros: An absolutely dreamy place that makes you feel like you are staying with the most welcoming, charming family.
With a stay at Quinta do Padrao in Penafiel, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Magikland and Penafiel Church. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge, and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Horses on the property.
Cons: Outside furniture was broken and/or not present. Very bad pillows and hard bed.
Pros: Staff were pleasant and helpful. The location is beautiful and the grounds are well kept.
Cons: The breakfast was poor, and served only late (9 am). The wifi was awful, phasing in and out, disconnecting and re-connecting every minute or so. Made it really hard to work in the room or elsewhere. On arrival we could not find the reception - there is good signage to the property but not on the property. No fault of the owners, but constant dog barking around the property - including throughout the night - was really disturbing. The shower was broken off the wall.
Pros: very friendly and helpfull, nice area, lots of things to do on site
Pros: Everything, staff very nice and helpful...accommodation was lovely and clean, breakfast was excellent.
Cons: Hills on my scooter.
Pros: This is our 2nd Visit, it is really Pet Friendly they make the dogs as welcome as ourselves and for the managers and staff nothing is too much trouble for them.
Pros: Beautiful property, friendly staff and great breakfast
Cons: Shower was cold
Pros: All was nice. Good place, pleasure staff, good breakfast. But seems that bed sheet was used more than one time.

Pros: The house in itself, the surroundings, the pool and the garden
Pros: Nice friendly owner
Cons: Very difficult to find, no name on house
Pros: We have found our home away from home! Claudia treated us like her family, we felt comfortable, taken care of, and in awe of her property and the history behind it. The house is fascinating! The design details are just incorporated perfectly to represent the history and draw your eye to every little detail. The views were breathtaking! The air clean and just warm enough in the day and in the evening just cool enough. Claudia is a perfect hostess, catering to our every need, answering all our questions and going way out of her way to help us with anything we might need. We will most definitely be back and will bring more friends and family.
Pros: Beautiful remote location! Claudia who owns and runs the Casa is an awesome hospitable host. The property is historic with refurbished beautiful rooms. Nice to have kitchen and laundry facilities. Everything was super clean. The rooms are spacious and inviting. There is an excellent restaurant not far away.
Cons: The bed was a bit hard.
Pros: Excellent location, great history, quiet area

Pros: This is a beautiful and elegant traditional style house. And the hosts provided great hospitality. They were very accommodating and helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to visit Porto.
Pros: The place was very clean. The owner was very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast bread was amazingly delicious.
Pros: The breakfast was excellent and so was the Attention of the hosts. The accomodation is a Beautiful townhouse with a couple of guest Rooms, very much what you expect from a such place in Portugal. HOWEVER, my room had unfortunately Windows facing the street, which was an uphill, cobblestone street in the Center, and you do hear this. Unless the Windows dont receive a good Sound insulation I would not fully recommend this place.

Pros: Clean, huge room, kitchen inside. Good place to stay
Cons: They can change the mattress. Not really comfy
Pros: Spacious apartment.
Cons: Stained carpet in the apartment. Small double bed - only 140 cm and was a nightmare to sleep in it with a child in the middle. Bathroom door wasn't closing properly. Tight underground parking and couldn't get inside or outside without hitting the bumbers or the car under because of the bad inclination of the entrance.
Cons: Very poor breakfast. Everything in the coffee machine tastes like chocolate instead of just coffee. Food selection wasn't great either. It wouldn't be difficult to upgrade the breakfast with quality items.

Cons: My room was far from the router. The wifi connection was really bad. Impossible to work from my room.

Pros: We had a junior suite for 3 nights, actually one for one night and another for 2 nights. The second was excellent, the first was a little dark. The spa is great, the pool has lots of water massage options, there is a sauna and steam room etc. The young lady on reception was very helpful.

Pros: Everything was relexing. Nice people. Nice place. Nice food at the breakfast. Very good!
Cons: Everything was good!
Pros: We have appreciated very much the attention of all the staff. The hotel is new and we feel comfortable there. The rooms are nice and clean. The toilet is also modern and easy to use. The location is good. It is relatively far from the city and is quiet. However, it central to the Douro area and is a good starting point to visit it, including Amarante, Porto, the river Douro, etc. For those who travel in family, it is also important to say that there is a recreation park nearby, the "Bracalândia" park, which is a sort of little "Isla magica". Finally, there is also the pool in the hotel. But for more about the pool see below.
Cons: The spa and pool are not exactly owned by the hotel, but it seemed to me that it belongs to another owner. The staff there is not as nice as in the hotel. I think they try to keep a quiet ambience in the in the installations, and so they react a little bit negatively to the presence of kids. Actually, there is a restricted period when the kids are allowed, which is from 10h-12h and 15h-17h. We did not know about that, and had to wait to get in! Apart that, the rest was ok.
Pros: The hotel is very comfortable. good breakfast.
Cons: We needed to leave reasonably promptly in the morning to catch a flight and the hotel were a little reluctant to begin breakfast before 7.30am

Pros: welcoming, excellent facilities, friendly staff, excellent spa & indoor pool
Cons: Canned music at breakfast! Could also be more variety of food at breakfast
Pros: Beautiful modern hotel in beautiful surroundings, will return for sure.
Cons: Breakfast coffe not served at tables. I am a coffe drinker and had to get up many times just to get a cup of coffe
Pros: The staff, bedroom and food.
Cons: The hotel is still being done. It should be noticed what is available at the hotel information page.
Pros: Staff, rooms and food very good

Pros: The staff were vey friendly and helpful.
Cons: I do not have anything negative to say.
Pros: location next to the main road, next to the iconic church; staff were very accommodating & helpful!!
Pros: The hotel is on the top of a hill, next to a church, with a pretty active bell. The breakfast was very basic, but ok, we didn't expect anything spectacular. The room looked like as it was on the photos, a bit old and worn, but everything was functional, got what we paid for. The staff is very friendly, helped us out with calling a taxi, checking the train schedule. We were satisfied with the stay here.
Cons: rooms could be a bit refreshed.
Pros: the hotel is a bit dated but nevertheless the rooms are well furnished and in good working conditions and the bathroom has nearly all amenities, breakfast is a cold one but with quite an array of choices; the hotel has his own nice parking space right in front of the hotel, staff is nice especially Paulo at the reception who gives very good information for the surrounding eating places
Cons: the bathroom needs a hair dryer for completion and the insulation of the place is not the best …..
Pros: I liked the room size, friendly and helpful reception staff. Everything was very clean.
Cons: I really didn’t like coffee during breakfast. It seems a much easier fix than replacing bathrooms and it would improve experience much more than some costly renovations. However given such dedicated staff, I am sure this hotel is capable off delivering better quality coffee.
