Pros: An absolutely wonderful guest house in a spectacular place, hosts were very helpful and welcoming. Exceeded our expectations.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This guesthouse was fabulous! The staff were wonderful, very accomodating. The room itself was beautiful so wonderfully decorated. The breakfast was incredible (best I have ever had), and it was such a lovely option to eat it on the veranda with the stunning views of the hillsides. There is a lovely wine bar to relax in and watch the sunset.
Cons: The pool was not very appealing - I think it may have needed a clean, but then the weather was rainnig so we didnt miss it and it did not take from our overall experience which was fantastic.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was our second visit and was every bit as good as our first. The bicycle room was great although we will probably go for an upgrade next time as the better rooms look to be good value. Staff were lovely and the snack menu and breakfast were excellent. Love everything about this hotel.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This guesthouse is a true architectural gem. Every attention to detail from the really cool copper taps and piping to the gabled bamboo ceiling. The room had a tiny complete kitchen and a lovely little balcony for breakfast. Said breakfast was delivered in a basket at the time we specified. That was delightful, too! Although we came to see the Mystras fortifications and churches (which, to tell the truth were hideous to climb around in and a waste of time), we loved the guesthouse and the suggested restaurants!
Cons: N/a
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Tranquil environment Friendly to families with kids
Cons: The interior of the room is quite old-fashioned, it’s funny, but not always functional
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location is simply astonishing! Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. There are a few good restaurants at walking distance: we tried Chromata and had a wonderful and unforgettable dinner.
Cons: Nothing

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was in such a beautiful location high up in the mountains. The staff were lovely and very helpful. We made good use of the pool, restaurant and pool bar (great cocktails!) during our short stay The rooms were excellent, although we didn’t use the kitchen. Wish we could have stayed for longer.
Cons: Only a very small point- the fridge in our room hummed (as fridges do) during the night which didn’t help a light sleeper.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the fact that this hotel is located in a remote village in the mountains above Mistras.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Having the bonding with greek lifestyle, we felt like we met old friends. The family running the place is wonderful. Soul balm , I could say. No Greece without Archontiko guesthouse experience !
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Interesting location, super view from room and restaurant. Very friendly and helpful staff.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming place, very knowledgeable owners (regarding the area), flexible and hospitable. Unique area, which may be visited more (the village is almost abandoned and merits more 'life').
Cons: All was as expected and beyond. The abandonment of the village is unfortunate and though it is not desirable to become flooded with tourists, for its livelihood and maintenance more visitors would be welcome.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hosts, excellent breakfast, good home made dinner cooked for the guests, great place to visit.
Cons: The road up the village is long, but well made and large.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous owners , offering great food , a beautiful home and a wealth of local knowledge
Cons: Wish we had time to stay longer
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast view from The hotel was breathing and perhaps The best view I have ever had from a hotel. The personel was super sweet and extreamly helpfull. (Picture is from our balcony)
Cons: There is atleast 30min drivning to The nearest decent restaurants and IF they would have an option of 2 amazing local dishes for dinner, Then I could not think of a better place to stay at with my girlfriend.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Marie and George were fantastic hosts and very welcoming. They made us a dinner that was superb! And the breakfast the next morning was delightful! Gorgeous location high up in the mountains.
Cons: Probably getting to the Mountain guesthouse was the most challenging (drive up and then getting up the stairs to the house itself). I knew it wasn't going to be easy, but still was more of a challenge than expected. It wouldn't keep me from staying again though.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: - Mary, Christina and George are amazing - you feel like visiting your family - definitely ask Mary to cook for you, its the best food you can get in Greece. Without a reservation Mary performed an amazing dinner and the whole family made it a perfect romantic highlight for us! - very warm reception (free coffee and cake) ->we were a bit to early for our check-in, but we were welcomed by George like old friends - amazing view - very good breakfast - fresh water from a mountain spring - good shower with always hot water - bath amenities - very clean - enough space in bathroom and sleeping room - very good and helpful tips on Mystras and the surrounding area - enough parking space - street to Anavriti looks horrible, but you get used to it very fast and its easier than it looks
Cons: Mattrass in room Stalos was too hard for us
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Most charming guesthouse in a beautiful location, 800 m up in the mountains above Sparta and Mystras. Maria, Georges and Christine are the most lovely, warm hosts we have ever met. Their hospitality is heart warming. Maria cooks a lovely traditional Greek meal in the evening and the breakfast is very nice as well. Very highly recommended if you are looking for an authentic, beautiful guesthouse, away from the crowds.
Cons: Everything was delightful.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The people were wonderful and extremely attentive. They went out of their way to accommodate my desire for an afternoon swim when the pool was closed. The location and grounds are stunning. The hotel is a series of buildings scattered between the olive trees with views of ancient Mystras. It is incredibly beautiful and atmospheric. Everything top notch, 5 star indeed.
Cons: The pool was closed for private functions both days I was there. But the staff more than made up for it.

Pros: Lovely location at the base of the Taygetus Mountains, just down the road from Mystras. The staff were friendly and always helpful.
Cons: The room was dark and the decor didn’t invite a sense of relaxation. For a five star hotel, we were surprised that there were several areas of the grounds either in need of repair or poorly kept. In general, it felt like a good 4 star.
7.5 Good
Pros: Attention to detail. The hotel is well managed and the attention to all small details in service and quality is impressive.
Cons: I liked everything about the hotel
9.3 Excellent

Cons: More activities at different times of the day
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The design, the delicious food, the spherical structure in the pool and its acoustics, the staff who were all very attentive and friendly. In short, it was a blissful few days. Vassilis the head trainer, Antonia the nutritionist, everyone at the restaurant including the chef who was kind enough to share more than the recipes to the delicious meals he prepared for us.
Cons: I can’t think of anything I disliked.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Never slept on a more comfortable bed in my life and the pool and spa area was sensational.
7.5 Good
Pros: The decor is lovely - beautiful carpets and lighting. The room was very comfortable with a great bed, and the public rooms are beautifully decorated.
Cons: The staff were willing and friendly but the restaurant service was slow, especially at breakfast, and especially given there were only a handful of people in the hotel. The sap is highly rated and we enjoyed using it, but I suspect it would not be pleasant when the hotel is full.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This hotel was amazing. The staff were absolutely incredible and did everything in their power to make my stay as comfortable, special and enjoyable as possible. The food in the restaurant was healthy and tasty. Breakfast was incredible! And the rooms and spa were gorgeous. Cannot recommend enough.
Pyrgos Of Mystra - Sparta - Building
7
9.3 Excellent (317 reviews)
Overview Reviews
This small luxury hotel, built in 1850 as the centre of society, stands proudly under the ragged shadow of Mount Taygetos. The imposing mansion has been transformed into a stately guesthouse, trying to preserve and reveal its seductive beauty and calming magnetism with absolute respect to the nature and history of the region. Every room is a distinct, impressive stage design. Luxury, comfort and snugness all coexist in total harmony in every single corner of the Pyrgos Of Mystras. The precious fabrics and the colours that have been selected for the decoration revive memories from the town’s rich history. Bicycles are available for rental at the property. Pyrgos Of Mystra is ideally placed for exploring the town, the Archaeological Museum of Mystras, the Byzantine Cathedral of Agios Dimitrios and many other places of historic interest.

Pros: The rooms were superb and the garden (Orange grove) very nice. The staff was very helpful and very nice, and the breakfast was great! A very relaxing atmosphere, close to the site.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This is a charming and beautiful boutique hotel. The staff are attentive, the garden (full of orange trees and roses) is beautiful, the breakfast is exquisite, and the building is beautiful
Cons: The only thing is that the bed is very very soft which does not work for me.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent small independent hotel only 5 minutes from the centre of Mystras village, and a great base for exploring the area. The staff were exceptionally helpful, and spoke fluent English. The hotel itself is a beautiful old house (c.1860) that has been immaculately converted into a small hotel. Lovely enclosed garden, too (we picked oranges from the trees). And our view had a view of the famous ruined medieval city and citadel.
Cons: There is no evening meal, although there are restaurants nearby and the staff were happy to give recommendations.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb breakfast, beautiful room in an elegant building
Cons: Nothing!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We like the place, and especially the women that welcome us and were very nice. Breakfast was very good.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Good hotel, good breakfast, helpful attentive staff.
Cons: A very small point. - The hotel nameplate is given in Greek alphabet only so we were uncertain whether we had got the right place. It would be good to have it in English underneath.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, original accommodation. The renovation of an old building has been done most sympathetically to provide first class modern comfort
Cons: A little hard to find. Sat nav was very little use though google maps eventually found the route for us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything, but the flowers of the orange trees are simply the best. We recommend that place to discover Mystra/ Sparta/ and the rest of the Peloponnes.

Pros: Loved the location, the look of the room (bricks, stones, beautiful tiles), the cleanliness, comfy bed, and the staff! Great breakfast with fresh squeezed OJ, yogurt with fresh fruit, homemade jams (cherry jam was AMAZING!).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was good, staff was great. We found that the food at the restaurant associated to the Inn was good but not great. The breakfast that is included in the price of the room was fantastic every morning: fresh and delicious.

Pros: Our host was very present, eager to help and really hospitable and kind. The place is also incredible. By the mountains, yet not very far from the sea, you can reach both in the daylight.
Cons: Cheese pie missing !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved this place! We had a great room and a huge bathroom that loved the little girl. The hosts are nice and have a pleasant place to have breakfast and dinner if you wish. Breakfast was included in the price, and we could have fresh orange juice, apart from fruits, bread, yogurt, etc... They also propose bacon and eggs. Our room was not on the main road, thus very quiet and peaceful. Perfect to visit Mystras; about 20 minutes walk to the main entrance of the Sanctuaries. The central place in the village has a nice bakery...

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Center of Sparta
Cons: WiFi was very slow.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I came to Sparta to see the statue and tomb of Leonidas, the ruins of ancient Sparta, and the archeological museum. The Menelaion is perfectly situated within easy walking distance of all of them. It was also easy for me to take a stroll out of town and walk through local olive groves with a great view of Mount Taygetos. From what I could tell, it was easily the nicest hotel in Sparta. The entire facility was very nice and the rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet. The breakfast is great. The best part about the hotel is the staff. They are warm and friendly and do whatever they can to make your stay enjoyable. One of the staff members even called my hotel in Athens to help me coordinate transportation. If (hopefully when) I return to Sparta, I will stay at the Menelaion.
Cons: I had no complaints.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great staff (help with parking, very kind, you can ask for directions for shops of certain kind) !! The room was clean, big, with fridge for your own drinks and great air conditioning. The food at the downstairs restaurant was also great and fair with prices. There is also a pool, but we didn’t have the chance to use it because of short stay. I recommand a stay od at least two nights, as there is more to do in Sparta than you think.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Comfortable beds - we slept well. adjoining rooms very convenient. Good location near the square with good restaurants all around. Staff were all lovely, especially reception staff.
Cons: No bell boy or any help with suitcases upon arrival. We had 6 cases so this was a disappointment to have to lug them around ourselves. Smoking! The bedroom cushions and coverlets on the bed upon arrival stank of cigarette smoke. I removed them and stuffed them in the closet. They didn’t seem clean and fresh to me, but the sheets were. Folk smoking by the pool wafts into the reception area and was a real negative point for me as I had to walk through it to get to the elevator. Pool is small, Smokey and packed. I don’t think the people using it were guests of the hotel. Parking is not easy to find but we were able to call them each time we returned back to have them move the hotel signs so we can park out front. Call when you arrive. Outside One of the bathrooms the wood floor was warped and coming up from water damage so was a trip/foot cutting hazard. Two spiders in this spot the first night - yikes!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast
10.0 Excellent

Pros: The room was big, clean and warm. The view was great and the stuff was very kind and helpful.
Cons: The stairs were in the middle of the room and we almost tripped some times. The lighting was not sufficient and we did not like the decoration of the room. Its like the did not hire an architect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: top service, beautiful view, individual breakfast & lovely appartement
7.0 Good
Pros: The location of the hotel was wonderful - overlooking the valley from our balcony and from the pool. Maybe due to its location on a hill, we enjoyed a cool night without aircondition, but with moskito nets at the windows! The family apartment had a separate sleeping room and two beds on the gallery on top of the living room. On the other hand - we had to have dinner in the hotel restaurant, as "normal" restaurants had been quite far away. But we stayed for one night only, so this did not matter.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice location on a small hilltop and breathtaking views on the surroundings! Clean and big room.
Cons: Bed was a bit too soft and squeeky. Staff in the restaurant were a bit shy.

Cons: Old, dirty, small rooms. Horrible shower with broken doors and curtains. The corridors smelled like cigarettes
