The hotel is in a perfect shape, designed with a great taste. The rooms are comfortable and it was a calm place. The service is "rural" and we felt very well during our stay.
Very nice staff. Nice little village - out of crowd, but close to beautiful touristic places.
Palau Saverdera is a beautiful village to walk around with the restaurants and bars of Roses only 5 minutes away. The hotel is beautifully decorated, rooms are beautiful with very comfortable beds and pillows. Great breakfast in the morning with lots of fresh produce. If you are going to be staying in this region you could not pick a better hotel!
The hotel is absolutely lovely. I can't say enough good things about it. The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel was immaculate. The village is very pretty, and there are a few wonderful restaurants to eat in. Its very close to Cadaques and Roses if you want to stay there for just the weekend. Our room had a little balcony with a view as well which we didn't expect. it was lovely.
Beautiful new hotel. The owner was very nice. Gave important tips about our trip. We loved breakfast. Good taste even in small details. The room was upgraded without my knowledge, and charged for it.
The hotel is a wonderful gem of a place in the beautiful village of Paul Savadera. Merce is very friendly and makes sure you are welcomed and happy during your stay, with lots of advice on places to visit. A great place to stay.
Village calm. Hotel decor attractive. Owner very friendly. The 'flashing' smoke alarm positioned just over the bed - very annoying. The soap dispenser next to the bath was far too high.
Extremely good.Breakfast and dinner very good
Eating in the village at restaurants recommended by the owner. Visiting neighbouring villages.
the rooms we booked were gorgeous, with exposed stone walls. we had a nice balcony and the breakfast was excellent.
excellent food - breakfasts and dinners. located very close to the sea and the centre of roses. nice pool and the interior of the hotel and rooms. the staff did not speak english
The facilities, the location The smell in the rooms (disinfectant?)
Good place, excellent meal, garage. Poor change shampoos snd soaps -two times in five days it is not inaf.
We loved the facilities, food and room. The staff where excellent and we had no problems with languages even though we don't speak spanish, thanks for a lovely stay
Excellent location, staff very helpful, Comfortable ,large room and ensuite.Breakfast very good and varied. We stayed for six nights late september and we would highly recommend this hotel. Very good value for price. Hard to find fault for price and location Very good all round
Sauna)) Breakfast) They have a problems with the water.
Everything was very good. The size of the rooms, the cleanliness, the location. We went in November so I'm not sure whether the summer months would be a bit noisier. We would definitely stay there again (and probably will in January).
Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was great (we were in the new part with a large balcony) Good location Air conditioning did not appear to be working
The quad room we stayed in was large and comfortable, modern and clean.
Warm welcome from staff,Beautiful Sea View, & excellent Breakfast
Good breakfast. Pleasant management.
Excellent location, nice and home-like atmosphere.
The location of the hotel was excellent, next door to the castle, across from the sea. The coffee at breakfast from a vending machine was a bit in poor taste, especially when espresso machine was available but not included.
Very helpful staff who responded immediately to guest requests(if these were possible) Unable to get a twin-bedded room on the first night but did subsequently
The staff was friendly and gave excellent directions. The location was perfect, and we liked the grassy area and views. Our opened bottle of wine was not available when we wanted to finish the wine.
buffet dinner very good
Lovely little pool, convenience to the beach, nice terrace and garden. If asked to recommend would say no but it has quite a lot to offer apart from rooms. There appear to be larger rooms with balconies available Rooms very small - two big boys in a small double bed leads to problems - bad odour in rooms especially when starting airco , no balcony
The location on the beach and proximity to the town centre was good as was the outlook for the bar. The air conditioning was not working, the staff were surly and the comfort of the rooms was poor.
Location and the Services offered Bedroom was rather cramped. Lack of second easy chair. Would have found this room unsuitable for a very long stay.
Location, view from balcony, ambiance
The excellent position of the hotel, which was right on the beach and within a 5 minute walk to the main facilities in Roses. Overly cautious staff response when asking to add bar bill to overall room charges i.e. marched to hotel reception and asked to provide I.D.
Friendly staff No
Large nice well decorated room, large balcony with sea views (though we have not selected a sea view when we booked). Excellent buffet breakfast. We would stay there again Parking area is very limited
Headboards with strangely positioned lights that could touch your head when sitting up
A fairly basic but well kept hotel with helpful and attentive staff.
An honest hotel: you get what you pay, even more...
Th hotel is right opposite the beach. The room was adequate. We had a quadruple room and it was a little cramped but still comfortable. The breakfast was very good and the staff were polite and very helpful.
Friendly service and beautifull sea view.
Easy to reach and to park. Free Wi-Fi only work until 2nd floor. If your room is higher, you need to go to the lobby to access.
Good value for money, clean, nice staff. We staying only one night and the hotel offered exactly what we needed - a nice and friendly place to spend the night at. The pillows were terrible and the coffee at breakfast was very bad
Cheerful staff, breakfasts were very good. The location was perfect for walking in National Park and swimming in the sea. Room was clean and comfortable. Very pleasant walking around the town and the marinas in the evenings. The view from the balcony was enjoyed. The street noise does go on all night, so we had to have the balcony door closed at night. The double bed was very small . We asked to be changed to a twin room which was no problem.
very central very noisy from the inside from neighbouring guests and although the balcony doors are quite soundproof when shut there is no airco or ventilator so had to keep the door open from the balcony and theres a lot of trafficnoice
position being cheated on cost
The location was excellent. There was no fridge in the room, and the windows did not open in vertical ventilation mode.
Hotel location, efficient staff, clean room, big room and bathroom, balcony Breakfast could be better
excellent second visit will be back again friendly helpful staff clean rooms excellent food.
Good location Bit overpriced
friendly helpful staff clean room excellent food second visit will be back
The price was incredibly high for the type of hotel. For some reason, you pay for Roses which is not beautiful at all.
The staff were helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and the breakfast was very good
Staff speaks english; good breakfast, 15 min walk to the beach. The room and bathroom was not clean; dirty towels; ants in the room; very thin walls; no soap in the bathroom.
somebody i9n the reception wasn´t very helpfull with the information
A good hotel in a great location. We enjoyed our short stay. Excellent breakfast. The hotel walls are too hin and you can hear the rooms next door & above. However, they did move us when we complained. WiFi was not available in the rooms.
he view of the water and that we had a balcony opening to hear and see the sounds The staff at the service desk was less than hospitable.
Excellent hotel, very good value for money, and lovely staff. Breakfasts excellent. Just a little far out of Roses itself, but easy to drive into Roses and leave a car there. Super position right on the beach with a couple of nice cafes there. Altogether thoroughly recommended
easy acces to the beach, superb service by all hotel staff The swimming poolwater was so filthy, it caused earinfection in two of our family. This is a well known problem by all medical staff in hotels that dont replace the water often enough.
The best thing about this hotel is its location. We had a room overlooking the sea and it was really nice; the balcony is big enough to sit and enjoy the view. The area is quiet and very nice for long walks on the shore of the sea. The room was updated and nice decorated and the breakfast was also ok. We did not appreciate the cleaning of the room - even if the cleaning service was daily, the sand or dust on the floor and on the carpet was not removed.
Perfect location with a modern but comfortable feel. Very helpful and polite staff. We'll be back.
Lovely hotel in a beautiful location. Very friendly staff. The buffet breakfast was very good as other options in the area may be limited. Our room overlooking the sea was very spacious and clean. The evening meal in the restaurant was reasonably priced but not very good. The hotel should perhaps consider reducing the variety on the menu and concentrate on quality & taste. This was the only disappointing aspect of our stay.
Next to sea. Our room (211) sea view was blocked by trees, hotel was full so no change possibility... parking was a mess, hotel had very limited parking (even they advertise parking) and they did not know which day I could get the parking slot (probably loudest in the morning gets the parking lots), luckily behind the next corner was private parking (4e/day) which had space and which we were able to use... at the end we learnt which time to arrive to get free parking from the street (9pm).
I loved the location, friendly service qnd view of the Sea.
Excellent hotel, great staff, fabulous location. Slightly dated in a few ways. Smoking in or near the eating areas is a real problem for Californians
The hotel was in an amazing location, you can lay in bed and still see and hear the sea lapping up against the rocks! The staff couldn't do enough during our stay......will definitely be visiting there again Nothing!!
The staff were very homily and made our stay very special. The gourmet restaurant was excellant and also the restaurant for lunch had freshly caught fish which was perfect
Beatiful hotel. Ideal setting. Staff exceptional, friendly, very welcoming. Excellent restaurant, food worth a Mitchelin star.
Good service When asked about buses to Girona, the receptionist found that a bus went at 1030am, but didn't bother to come and let us know while we had a leisurely breakfast (she knew we were there), leaving us to rush and pack and take a cab to catch the bus! An annoying ending to an otherwise lovely stay
The service and location
Everything. Lovely friendly clean hotel right on the beach The food was good and staff very friendly. We liked it so much we stayed another night at the end of our holiday which we booked direct with the hotel.
Beautiful location with great sea views. Staff were very friendly and attentive without being obtrusive.
position and comfort off season so only very expensive restaurants open
Fantastic 5 day break. We will definitely be returning in the future.
Feeling of individuality -not part of a chain. no groups
Generally this is a clean hotel with a great location being close to the beach, the town centre and the mountain resorts. The hotel is to recommend if you to explore the sourroundings. The rooms are more on the small side and there was a bad smell of old water in the hallway for several days. Although we prefer firm beds rather than soft ones, our bed was extremely hard and reminded us of laying wooden beams. Although the hotel restaurant has good reviews, the food at the hotel bar unfortunately was not to our taste (blend and uneventfull) is not recommendable.
Wonderful hotel with great staff. Would definitely stay again. Had great time due to their hospitality.
Good location and high class hotel. Was a fair choice for northern Costa Brava northren part tour. Too expensive for what you get. Prices are similar to "same class״ hotels in Barcelona. The spa was far from being impressive, not relevant to winter days.
Views from room , tea or coffe making facilities in room should be considered
it reflected a personal...family owned .... what a wonderful surprise... we weren't expecting it from your web-site but would have stayed longer had we known... simply a wonderful vacation experience...
location and facilites uncomfortable bed and having to pay for spa at weekends even though it was only thursday no iron and ironing board available
Rooms were large and clean with great view of the sea. Air conditioning was not turned on even though it was quite warm. Spa and fitness areas were closed on Sunday when we arrived (this was one of the reasons we booked this hotel - we were not advised in advance.
Great staff, a great location (right on the beach), great breakfast The rooms could use an upgrade.
excellent condition of the building, rooms etc. perfect location nothing
A friendly hotel in good location. The pool area and terrace bar are extremely pleasant. This hotel is kept to a very high standard. Our second visit in one year.
They have a good breakfast buffet The swimmingpool area is quite small, so it is difficult to have a place to sit and you are really close to the rest of the people
The view, the cleaning of the room, the staff. The ceramic floors on the rooms.
This is our third consecutive year staying at Hotel Monterrey, Roses, over the Easter Holiday weekend. It continues to remain one of the nicest, well kept hotels that I've had the privilege to stay in. The kindness of the staff and their always positive can do, will do attitude is above reproach.. We will be making reservations soon for Easter Holiday 2011. A special thanks to Emi for her continuing efforts in accomodating any and all of our wishes or desires. It's a well run and well managed hotel. It rates a higher star rating than what is shown. Thanks again for another memorable stay. .... Virg Rogers, Barcelona
Superb view, easy to find, quiet, very convenient pool. Parking sometimes a bit difficult but that is nit picking really
The location of the hotel, pool area, the cafe staff. The room was comfortable with a good view even though it was a "side view" of the sea. The free bicycles. The pool was said to be heated but was very cold. The reception staff weren't always helpful (some were, some weren't). For any travel/transport queries they told us to call the bus companies or go to tourist information-they were keen to promote organised tours or their own taxi contacts.
Proximity to the beach, breakfast, how children oriented it was. Maybe you could change internet policy. It was annoying asking for the password every 24 hours.
Perfect location, just on the sea front. Spacious room with wonderful balcony with sea view. Free parking available. Only old people were there. Do not expect any night entertainment or parties in there
Nice well situated hotel, good breakfast, pleasant rooms, staff very helpful
perfect .... friendly, good advices, human ... see you soon ... nicolas
Central location and breakfast, associated restaurant was great. Exorbitant price for transferring our baggage to another hotel.
Good central location. Good breakfast selection. This is not a four star hotel. It is a good three star hotel.
We were on our way to Barcelona, and found this place very refreshing and reposing. the hotel was a nice surprise, big suite apartment, nicely decorated and quiet as it's March.Great breakfast buffet. The personel was very pleasant and helpful It's true , it could be a difficulty for parking at peak times, we had to juggle with bags, where we could, as it was busy when we arrived. It was more of a problem for my husband as it is confusing when you don't know the city,
Excellent Sea view and breakfast.
During the off peak periods this hotel is excellent value. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and include some self catering equipment. The location is good, near the beach and within the old town of Roses providing access to it's many bars and restaraunts. Our room was slightly worn and needed some upgrading but as stated above still clean and comfortable.
Great location, overlooking the beach and in the heart of the town. I had a great room on the front / top floor with a great terrace and sea view. There was also a fridge and mini kitchen in the room which was useful. The hotel was a little dated - think posh 80's hotel - but I quite liked that and it was perfect for my 2 day visit to Roses. The (seafood) restaurant is good. I can't fault it really.
We liked the location of the hotel and the room to accomodate our family of four. No services available. No internet connection proposed. No help in the front desk practically inexistent.
Friendly staff, central location, great view No parking, breakfast not great
Breakfast was very poor, parking was difficult, hotel was dated, no balcony or even a view
Nothing Hotel dated, unclean and staff not highly motivated
Location, sea view, excellent restaurant downstairs Lack of tea and coffee cups in the apartment, cigarette smoke in the hallways.
Service and comfort -attitude of the staff was excellent.location near town centre and all facilities was good.Overall a very good choice. Parking was difficult.
On the beach. swimming pool "large" like a bath. terrible breakfast luckely included in the price of the room. far from the city center and from restaurants.
The hotel was good value, on the beach and an excellent stop over point trevellin back to the UK from further south in Spain. I would not hesitate to use it again
location and the friendliness of the staff, however there could be more variety at the breakfast buffet!
The position of the hotel, the town itself, and general friendly staff.
We had room with nice view of sea and surrounding mountains, the hotel room looked upscale with tiled floor, wood furniture and marble bath. Inside the hotel was nicely decorated with wooden and fresco type painting. The breakfast was simple but good quality. It was nice to have free parking and internet. In addition, the hotel is located just on the beach, which was very convenient as well. I definitely stay here again. It was a problem to make international call, had some problem with activation of my credit card. As result, paid for stay in cash.
Full of cheap package tours, too many people smoking in certain areas of hotel and meals a bunfight. Food rated fair only.Hotel ill equipped to deal with flood water making access to our car impossible when we needed to leave. Please see above
This hotel is excellent price/quality. Ideal for us. Easy to find on entering Roses. Its location is great, calm area, on beach with great views of Roses Bay. Buffet lunch value at 14 euros. We are oldies, spent one night and really enjoyed our stay. Very clean, quiet, and close to all amenities. Good place for base to tour elsewhere. Parking next to hotel. Staff helpful. Definitely return.
slept well, for it's location it was amazingly quiet. It was convenient for the reasons we were there.
sea view, hotel is located very close to the beach
A very friendly welcome.
Near of center and sea
A very comfortable hotel at an extremely reasonable price. Outstanding value for money!
nice room, not expensive in low season. no wifi in the room.
good value for money floor in the rooms - no carpet
The quality of the room and balcony.
ROOM WAS SPACIOUS AND CLEAN ENTERTAINMENT FINISHED AT 10PM - CATERED TO CHILDREN OR PARENTS - POOL IS SMALL FOR THE SIZE OF THE HOTEL AND TAKEN OVER BY CHILDREN
Good location near the sea and good breakfast Nothing
Pool area was very well kept and plenty of sunloungers. Most staff very helpful. Was very noisy and crowded in the evening as there appeared to be a large group staying there. They were not very polite and didn't even make a route to the bar area available. Breakfast again very noisy and lots of pushing and rudeness.
Is close to the beach and shops. This hotel is not worth it. It has not air conditioned and the room was really small. Too expensive for what it is.
Acceptance of pets, ease of access to countryside. The litter problem is sad.
Quiet location The hotel did not cater for the English at all. Rooms were very basic, no sun loungers, no parasols. It took half an hour to get a drink. Food was poor.
Nice sightseeing, nice bedrooms and nice countryside area no separations between bathroom and bedroom (no door between the two), not enough insulation as well
The old building was very attractive and the room was unique in its design. The location out in the country was very restful. There was no heat in the room on a cool night. The lighting did not cover important areas of the room. Although the stone sink was very attractive, it was not practical for washing. Instead of the exercise machine in the room, it would have been better to have a place to keep your baggage so that it could be accessed without putting it on the bed
The room was very nice and the restaurant was excellent. The staff were helpful and kind The portable A/C unit in the room was new but noisy and not functional. The hotel would have been better advised to install another system. up to four silent room units can be installed on one outside compressor for probably a similar cost. i hope this comment is paased on as it is intended to be constructive.
very friendly staff
excellent location, unfortunately not warm enough to enjoy the great garden an pool. love the room with open bathroom/ jacuzzi and seperate toilet. great tasting food in the restaurant with reasonable prices. Some great home made deserts. missing a complete door on the toilet so you the other person doesnt have to enjoy the smell
very sophisticated design of the rooms and the hotel itself; moreover hotel is placed in the beautiful countryside, between beaches of picturesque town named Roses and the national park nearby Cap de Creus, giving you the possibility to admire truly awe-inspiring landscapes; ideal for a romantic trip ;); I would definitely recommend this hotel.
The buildings are very nice and so is the setting - an original farm at the foot of the hills of a nature reserve, away from the concrete blocks of Roses. The staff were very nice and friendly/helpful. The rooms were last removated some time ago and the furniture, interior decoration and facilities could do with an upgrade soon - looks like 1970s right now. Some facilities like water glasses, bedside tables both sides of the double bed (not just one) etc were missing. Breakfast should start earlier than 9AM. We booked this hotel at a 50% discount. On the full rate, it would have been unthinkable.
I thought that the hootel was fabalous very comfortable and staff were very friendly.
Nice and relaxing
The view was good High speed wireless internet in the room
We love the location and the facilities are always very good, also the staff are helpful We did have a problem with are allocated room because it really did smell badly of smoke even though it was non-smoking, but its was changed as soon as we asked
nothing really probably only good thing next to beach All done on the cheap here - not enough lifts for the amount of rooms so long queues for them if you are on high floor. breakfast bad with the quality of food poor. Pool dirty my daughter of nine refused to swim in it!!
The hotel was right beside the beach, we had a lovely view and the breakfast was ample The front desk staff were, at best, curt and not at all helpful. The bar music was far too loud.
Good location and excellent breakfast buffet. Staff fairly helpful when you could find them. Good sauna and steam room. Reasonable value for money. Easy free parking. No towels available in spa. Very early check-out. Rooms and decor very dated. Had to pay for use of safe. Towels and pillows inadequate. More a three star hotel with an aged clientele.
nice clean room, quiet the lift
quite rooms breakfeast good but lacked fruit reception very slow they prefered to answer all incoming calls25 miutes to get booked in
I recomend it
room comfort room smell
good for children and teenagers very loud disco, difficult to put baby to sleep
the breakfasts no air conditioning in the room
fairly priced, good breakfast, reasonably close to sea and restaurants, easy to get to by car. Food is good, broadwalk in the evening promedate was a plesant experience. Nice view from balcony. As a resort hotel quite noisy and crowded. Slow elevators, parking is a nightmare. Found a spot around nearby canal - 15 minutes away on foot.
the proximity of the beach bread ,croissant not fresh
The hotel is situated in a residenciel area just above Roses. It is very quiet with a beautiful view over the mountains from the outdoor pool. The pool itself is beautiful and extremely well kept. Indoor pool closed as it was the end of the season.
very comfortable, quiet and outside the bustle of town but conveniently placed.will return
The buffet breakfast and dinner. Also the huge pool The rooms did not look like the ones in the brochure. They were small and dated.
It was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Nice and quiet if you go there with a family. The pool was massive and there are a lot of facilities - I.E. tenis courts, games rooms, ping pong, a mini cinema. Rooms were very basic, tv's only had 3 channels and didn't have a remote control (they were practically touching the ceiling). The bar only opened at certain times, 6pm in the eve and shut early. It's a very quiet hotel, not good for younger people. You couldn't buy bar snacks either, you had to wait for the set menu for lunch. Food for lunch wasn't so great, brekkie was fine though.
The swimming pool, the gym and the breakfasts
Everything, I had been there before and it was nice to be remembered. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. The buffet food is the best I've ever had at any hotel and there's always plenty of choice.
Facilities, quiet room with nice balcony, good buffet
Easy free parking. Generous choice of breakfast. Pleasant staff (however, I speak Spanish) Large pool area kept clean and tidy. Low bar prices. Quiet residential area. Great views. The bedrooms need renovation. The bathrooms have been modernised and are good, but the plain wooden furniture is scratched and tired. One simple chair, a plain wooden desk. The tv was an old type, and small (15" screen). Irritating was having to pay on arrival, having to put a deposit for the tv remote-control, and having to pay up-front to use the telephone. All in all the price is rather high - for not much more, I stayed at various Paradores. But it was a holiday (San Juan)
The comfortof the hotel was good and the meals were fine and reasonably priced.
great views and the rooms are big. I had an extra large terrace which was fabulous with sunbeds and best of all , private! no. breakfast was fine. after 5 days got repetitive but really lots of things to choose from and good quality.
