3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: We arrived at night, no lights on the sign. The guesthouse was closed and the owner did not like that we arrived at night. I don't know why people rated this as 9.5 unless they know the owner. The guy is not friendly at all, unlike the lady. Breakfast doesn't worth the money. The lady said she will bring eggs, but we only smelled it.

Pros: The room is very spacious with typical German, slightly dated, interior. Nice balcony and mostly decent sometimes very slow wifi reception. Bed is very clean and comfortable. The wellness area was bigger than I expected considering the size of the hotel. Two dry sauna's (60 and 90 degrees) and one steam room. The best feature of the hotel is the excellent kitchen. This shows in the breakfast buffet but especially at diner. The kitchen has generous opening times allowing you to eat until as late as 21:30. The food is not cheap but it is well worth the price. Excellent quality, generous portions and plenty of side dishes.
Cons: Unfortunately no mini-bar/fridge or coffee/tea facilities in the room.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Food was amazing, both breakfast and dinner. Huge, great selection of breakfast choices, including smoked salmon and freshly squeezed orange juice, not widely available in Germany. High quality gourmet dinner, good value for money in my opinion. Spacious, comfortable room. Wellness area was sufficient, though i still missed the cold bath to dip in after the sauna.
Cons: Nothing much to do in the area, you need the car if you need anything or want to do anything.

Great hotel, and excellent restaurant with good bigger than average size rooms, in a very quiet hamlet only five minutes from the A8 motorway, in beautiful countryside. Food was excellent and the menu in German and French, good choice of fish, meat and vegetarian dishes. Excellent wines, a little expensive but well worth it. Local beers good as well. Breakfast excellent with an extensive range of cold meats, cheese, cereals, breads and pastries. We stayed on the way to see friends in Munich and again on our return. £150 for Bed Breakfast and an evening meal for two with a €24 bottle of wine and a couple of beers, you can't do much better than that!!

Quiet most of the night. Interesting idea to have breakfast in the room. Nice fresh bread and croissants in the morning. We had a nice meal at the restaurant. Seems very busy. 8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very nice restaurant for dinner, one of the best in town.
Cons: If traveling during weekend avoid getting a room facing the walking zone as it may be noisy passed 2300 hours.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good size bed, bathroom very functional, large shower. We had a lower floor room with balcony which was appreciated. Bikes stored just outside in locked garden. Very friendly and efficient owner who also happens to be the chef at their restaurant. We had dinner there and it was superb - highly recommend. Breakfast was in the room. Everything you could need in the fridge. Coffee machine, kettle. Fresh croissant and bread were delivered on the door knob early morning. Enough for breakfast and lunch!
Cons: Rooms were not huge but adequate for two.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Friendly greeting, location, tea and coffee in the room, breakfast in the room with fresh bread delivered by 6 in the morning. Bike storage for our bikes. Restaurant on site was excellent serving great food.
Cons: Plastic undersheet on the bed, there are better mattress products. Street lighting rather bright through the night. Blackout blinds would be a good solution. But these things are very minor compared to the overall stay and could just be my personal sensitivity to plastic and light.

Pros: Everything was correct.
Cons: Nothing really....maybe the restaurant was a bit expensive
9.5 Excellent
Pros: More than complete room, perfect breakfest with fresh bread, good restaurant, nice place. Thank you!

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming, incredibly generous breakfast and everything just well organised. We'll be back!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is a few blocks walk from the train station to this hotel. The staff informed us that the Chateau in France that we wanted to visit on Monday would be closed, so they got on the phone and arranged transportation for the day we arrived. So helpful! Room and bathroom are spacious with balcony off of a garden that is shared with one other room. They have an in-room breakfast of fresh bread, cheeses, meats and coffee. Their restaurant is excellent and right next door. We were very pleased!
Cons: We have no complaints. They even replaced the coffee pot immediately that didn’t seem to work.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Had very large corner room on second floor with view of the River - excellent. Main restaurant closed but good evening meal outside from the courtyard bar. Breakfasts were a highlight taken on the patio overlooking the River and castle - wide selection. Could walk into the town centre in 10/15 minutes. Historic house built in 1801 for a leather maker.
Cons: Nothing - all fine. Understood that as a listed building there was no lift. Restaurant being closed meant walking into town two evenings - but close by and with a good selection of eating places.
5.8 Okay
Pros: An airy room, clean ensuite, comfortable bed that didn't smell of fabric softener.
Cons: The room was on the third floor so internet was very weak/non existant. Staff were very pleasant but scarce which left us guessing where things were (breakfast room, access to the front porch etc). Also irritated by trains trundling past during the night.
4.0 Okay
Cons: After booking 3 weeks in advance, we arrived in the evening after a 15 hour journey. Repeatedly during the day we tried to call the hotel to say when we would arrive and to arrange for a meal. No answer, no forwarding message service so we were unable to talk with the hotel, When we arrived the place was in total darkness, no one at home. What to do ?. As luck would have it , next door was another hotel. Luckily they were able to accommodate us. The original hotel owners sat at the dining table and were as it were" on their day off ". Eventually they came over to us, no apology to us for the inconvenience, no excuse for the closed doors. They did accept our money for the reservation but didn't have the decency to inform us they wouldn't be there. This is disgraceful hotelier behaviour, at least they could have apologised but no it was insisted an email had been sent to us that afternoon. We did not receive any notification. In any case we were travelling throughout the continent. Our booking had been made three weeks in advance. Surely they had time to tell us they would not be there. This hotel purports to be of high standing. Despite the fine location next to the river Saar. I would certainly not recommend this establishment. One of the most unfriendly , inhospitable , unhelpful hoteliers I have ever come across
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and comfortable. Worth the extra money to get a wonderful view of the castle from our room.
Cons: Would be nice to have tea/coffee making facilities in the room
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully located at the Saar. Super friendly personnel. Spacious room. Loved the atmosphere n and around the house.
Cons: The bathroom is a bit small. The pillows where not that comfy for me.

Pros: This property is like a very spacious apartment for a couple. You got there a Bathroom, a Livingroom and a Sleepingroom. Furthermore there is a Dining Area in the Entrance Hall with a lot of stuff (dishes, Mugs, tea, coffee). You also have a fridge in the Entrance Hall. This property has also a very well spaced parking in front of it. You can easily park here with four cars! Being there in January, we don’t know how the place looks in the summer, but we are sure it is nice :). We surely consider to stay there again!
Cons: This is a remote location. When you stay there, you should have all your Supplies with you. There are no supermarkets nearby.

Pros: The owners were very helpful and kind. Breakfast was excellent and the situation was lovely, and convenient for the railway.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful location. We were housed in what was essentially a penthouse on the top floor with private entrance. The added bonus - on Easter Sunday our daughters were greeted by Easter treats.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: a great holiday apartment overlooking vineyards in a quiet village with a pub and a restaurant. Wine is available from the winery.
Cons: be aware apartment is accessed by an outside spiral staircase
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Quiet out of the way area in a private wine growers house. Good facilities with a hair dryer towels and all the required facilities. Good continental breakfast at extra cost. There is a pub serving food near the train station, we had good food there and a warm German welcome, but there were reports of variable quality food.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very beautiful view, plenty of wine yards all around. In middle of nature and good for bird watching. Train station is 5 mins walk away (but good to have car). Close to Trier (20 mins by train)
Cons: Bedroom had no curtain, it was very bright early morning (start of June).
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It was clean, positioned in nice and quiet tidy picturesque grounds with the proprietors typically steep hillside vineyard as a backdrop. A very rewarding experience of walking through the Riesling vineyard and to actually buy various wines made in extensive cellars below the accommodation by our hosts from that vineyard. The hosts home made jams added to a quality breakfast.
Cons: In the hot weather, air-conditioning and a bar fridge would be worth paying extra for.

Cons: Only a restaurant, no bar where you could just get a drink or a cup of tea . We asked and were pointed to a seat by reception

Pros: Good location in a beautiful little city. Nice restaurant hall!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very well located in a quaint old German town. Lovely building in fitting with its surroundings.
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: Location, breakfast en this lovely woman who runs the place
7.0 Good
Pros: Good breakfast for the price (excellent coffee). Nice central location.
Cons: Bed too close to bathroom door (door bumping at bed), because of room dimensions. No lift.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location, comfortable and friendly, helpful staff
Cons: Take your own pillows - they just don’t get pillows in Germany!!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Loved this hotel for its antiquity. Loved the wood in the hotel and the spacious room. It was very clean and comfortable. The food was excellent. Also this pub had its own brewery where you could make your own beer; so sounds good for a weekend stay! Also skiing area at the right time of year!
Cons: The lady who signed us in was so miserable, not welcoming at all. She did manage a smile when she served us our evening meal. I rarely complain but was going to say something to her but my wife preferred me not to as she would have had to translate!
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice staff
Cons: Great location
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, very careful with guests. They even changed the breakfast hours for me.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice little hotel at the center of the town, but still in a quiet place. My room and the whole hotel was very clean, and the staff was very welcoming and nice to me (although not everybody spoke english). The breakfast was of good quality, not too extensive, but a little bit of everything (egg, rolls, cheeses, jams, hams, salamis, fruits, muesli), with some day-to-day variations in the served fruits and cheeses. The bread rolls were very fresh and tasty as well as the cheeses. The restaurant was mostly closed as I visited Saarburg in the offseason, but fortunately could experience the very good food there on my last day. The waitress was also really kind and nice, trying her best to overcome the language barriers. Overall an excellent value for the money!
Cons: It was no problem for me at all, but for old people the stairs to the rooms might be quite steep

5.5 Okay
Cons: The locally personnel was quite unfriendly. Zero understanding of English language. Not interested in foreign clients / guests. No reply to the preliminary requests by e-mail.
6.8 Good
Pros: The bed mattress was very comfy. The bathroom was modern, clean and very nice.
Cons: The room had an old carpet smell. It was very small. The mattress was stained a little underneath the covers. The breakfast was not up to standard at all - fruit was covered in fruit flies and outdated, no egg/bacon/sausage, only one spoonful of yogurt, cheese and ham that has already started changing colour on the edges. It's a small town so I don't expect a modern fancy hotel, but for the price it was not up to standard.
