very nice hotel and service the beds were very hard
the spa/wellness facilities, dining choices. No air conditioning. Room quite small for a 5* hotel, only one comfortable chair to sit on, though they did bring another one when we pointed this out to them.
just a few people spoke english..............the matress not so good and the tv in the room very old model!Food very good!
The entire staff was very friendly and attentive. It was easy to book spa treatments and make dinner reservations via email prior to our stay.
Spa and wellness are at a very high quality level, the location next to the vineyard of Karl Petgen is fabulous and gives appetite to try his wines
Staffs are kind. Free parking lot. The room is rather hot, and I coulnd't find the air-conditioning system.
Perfect! More than we expected to find in a Hotel, the location, the food, the excelent attention of the staff, very nice experience, I will defenitely recomend it. They gave us information about the soroundings, what to do, we rent bikes with them which was a very funny experience. Thank you for everything.
Location in the middle of a Forest Nature area, easy access to some major cities in Germany, France, Luxembourg and Belgium. The staff extremely friendly and helpful, large and very clean with a nice balcony, recently renovated to a high standard with nice touches and decor. Pleasant swimming pool, Excellent buffet breeakfast and a la carte restaurant (the chef prepared a meal after closing time when we arrived late) Pool temperature a little cool, but then it is off season and very few guests utilising so can be forgiven for not wasting heating.
Excellent rooms and restaurant, Friendly staff and good value for money.
Very little; pretty average in all aspects Dated room which - at least in our situation - was not really clean. Overpriced!
Very clean and cosy hotel with more than good value for money. The place was quitet and would be good even for longer stay. The proximity to Luxembourg makes it a good choice when not wanting to pay the standard high Lux prices for accomodation.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Good food and local wines albeit a limited menu. Good value and a good stopping off point for an overnight stay.
Nice and clean room. Staff a bit uninterested.
freindly hotel, reasonable rooms and safe parking for motorbikes
the hotel and the good service no
Nice hotel, great room, beautiful place. For lunch we should go to the opening.
Not far off the motorway on way back from Austria to England.
A dog joined our table during the breakfast. Kids were thrilled, until it started to lick its genitals. Bad heating = cold. Breakfast could have been better.
Spacious and comfort rooms. Actually it was a little too spacious.
Family atmosphere and friendly environment, good cuisine. Particulary good for family.
We had broken down en route to the hotel and arrived wet, cold, tired and distressed. The management and staff could not do enough for us and continue to excel during our prolonged stay. This hotel ticks all the boxes for comfort, food, friendliness etc. It is well positioned for discovering Luxembourg and the Moselle. Menu is only in German.
Food was excellent, room was comfortable & very clean, will definitely go back.
The facilities were nice, room well decorated and the restaurant quite good. Staff friendly thougth with some dificultys with english..
This was my third stay in the hotel ... says a lot, doesn't it :-) Excellent staff, quiet environment, comfortable room, free and fast wireless internet connection, great cuisine...
Clean pleasant room. Food very good. Main problem was the fly invasion during meals
Helpful and very friendly staff. Unlike previous reviews we found that some staff could speak at least limited English and one waitress was reasonably fluent having spent time in California this Summer (hence noticeable American accent). With our limited German we had no problems either booking in or ordering a meal. Not particularly clear where hotel (as opposed to Restaurant) entrance was. However since Reception is in the Restaurant anyway there is no real problem.
quality of room the amount of flies in the dining room during our meals
Very nice rooms, modern bathrooms, excellent meals, and reasonable prices. Booked for evening meal on the first night for 18.30h, but told to try at 20.00h because they were busy. I had booked 2 months in advance! Apart from this nothing else displeased me.
Superior to many 3 star hotels. The scores on the guest reviews are fully justified.
Lovely location & excellent food. Room & bathroom in the annexe were large, with all you needed and beautiful view. The family & staff made us feel very welcome. Everything decorated attractively and very clean and well cared for. The passing traffic is a distraction at times, but not a problem and electric blinds exclude the noise at night.
Menus at the restaurant are written in German only and staff does not speak English. I t would be helpfull to have translations.
Large room with stunning view & every facility. Friendly, helpful staff and attractive hotel. Easy to find & with on site parking. Very good food. Nothing. This was our favourite of the whole week!
very nice & clean, frindly stuff
good food, very clean room, very friendly staff door downstairs makes a lot of noice
Pleasant atmosphere: attractive situation. Rooms very spacious, clean & with many facilities to ensure an enjoyable stay. Very good food in the restaurant with friendly & helpful staff. Convenient car park on site. We love this hotel! A menu with English translation would be helpful. Noisy road nearby can be quite intrusive, but is not a major problem.
friendly welcome from receptionist.good size room, first class food.loved the inner courtyard and garden. a little noisy due to early morning traffic.would prefer an inside room if poss.no tea and coffee making facilities in room.
Friendly people, countryside
The restaurant had a very pleasant look and the food was great. This is something you normally mis in a hotel.
There was nobody in the beauty institute on sunday
restaurant with interesting cuisine road too noisy
The hotel was a good experience in every way: Very friendly and service minded staff (we arrived a bit early and they immediately tried to get our room ready for us, also when leaving we were given excellent driving directions); Nice and clean rooms; Good restaurant with a modern style that we really liked – many good local wines to try, and the breakfast was delicious too. We felt us really welcome and will not hesitate to recommend “Nitteler Hof”.
The location of the hotel which provided easy access to the Mosel Valley and surround countryside.
The room was a loft conversion on the top floor - it was spacious, clean, and comfortable. There was no elevator so luggage had to be moved three floors - but to be fair help was available.
Old-looking comfortable hotel in a lovely village on the board of the river Mosel. Excellent restaurant. Good local wine. Friendly and professional staff. The pool is not a swimming one, but rather a "relaxation pool" with very cold water. Rather long distance between the pool and the sauna. A fitness centre would be an asset.
Very friendly staff. Nice room. The score for comfort would have been higher if there had been warm water. Apparently the boiler was out of order.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly speaking good english. The wi-fi was very good, in room and cost only 5€ per day. There is a pool and sauna. Food in the hotel was excellent and reasonably priced. Parking was not a problem. Location is mid-way between Trier and Luxembourg None that come to mind
Staff and food were excellent and made up for the one or two disappointments. ie swimming pool not working, tv remote not working and no coffee/tea making facilities.
The staff were amazing, that made the whole experience wonderful.
Friendly and helpful receprionist, who could also speak English. Car parking somewhat inconvenient if there was no space immediately in front of the hotel.
This hotel is next to the Roman structure the Igel monument. The staff spoke very good English. The hotel restaurant served good meals. Breakfast was a nice spread, plenty to choose from. The hotel management gave the guests big chocolate bunny on Easter morning. It was placed in front of our door, it was a nice touch. We loved that surprise!!! This hotel is a good value and has the right location in the area.
Good sized room and bathroom. Good breakfast. Staff is more than willing to help out. Not that well positioned. You need your car to get to Trier.
There was a door between my room and the room of another guest. My key was working, so I assume the same goes for the guest on the other side. Not a good feeling to know that someone else could theoretically walk into your room anytime during the whole night. Only noticed when it was already too late. No one was at the reception during the night hours.
The hotel was modern, lots of space in the corridors and rooms. Rooms were very clean. Breakfast was excellent. Good value for money. Free internet. Great loaction, 3 mins walk to Saarburg. Internet strength kept dipping in and out. Also, the hotel is only one floor of the big building seen in the pictures. You park the car in the basement then catch the elevator up to the hotel. The hotel reception closes fairly early. We arrived at 10pm and the whole building was shut up. We asked at a bar downstairs how to access the building and by chance they by chance had some keys waiting for us in an envelope, with no directions. It was a little like fort knox trying to find out way in. Great hotel, you just want to check in earlier than we did.
Although there had been some language barrier at check in time the staff was very pleasant and helpfull. The room is spacious and was very clean. I will definitely be back. Great location in town. Good value. Not really.
Very friendly housekeepers; very comfortable, spacious and cleaned room. Good breakfast.
good size and quiet Mentioned in booking: free parking and internet. No...had to buy from hotel for 8 euro a tmobile card. Free parking....had to move back and forth acrosst the river twice a day and then walk across the bridge.
Breakfast was good with lovely home made croissants served. Also conveniently located - v near to Villeroy and Boch outlet centre The rooms would be more comfortable if they had air conditioning
comfortable, clean, nice location, excellent staff, value for money no
See section 1. The breakfast was excellent 1. See section 1 2. The decor would not be to everyone's taste 3. We asked on booking for confirmation that the restaurant was open on the evening of arrival and got no reply - see 1.
We enjoyed the friendliness of the staff and the rooms were comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and the location on the river very pretty. Mostly, the noisy other guests who came in at 3 AM, Not much sound proofing, but that is to be expected in this kind of construction. This is not a reflection on the hotel, except that there is no one manning the desk at night.
Very friendly hotel in a pretty situation. Good value for money.
Convenience for town, breakfast, comfortable room, parking.
The staff was incredible. Anastasia was absolutely wonderful. She was cheerful, helpful, caring... just the best!
Super location not far from autobahn. Friendly staff and great breakfast
We were well catered for in all areas and would not hesitate to stay here again. The surrounding area is excellent too and we were well impressed by the whole stay. The breakfast was great too! Our lack of German was not a barrier as the Hotel person, though not an English speaker, was most helpful and pleasant. The apartment was roomy and quiet though quite near a main road - we had apartment 6 and would request it again without hesitation. There was free parking a short distance away and though there wasn't a lift to the apartment it wasn't a problem. We considered this Hotel an excellent value for money Hotel. No
I love the close location to the train station and the quietness of the hotel. There was not one thing I did not like
Excellent value difficult to find
Charming old manor style house, idyllic situation. Friendly service. Absolutely a place to go back.
The hotel is in an ideal location for a visit to Saarburg. Located on the River Saar and its lovely walking/biking trail, it is an easy walk into town, to the train station and the castle. The accommodations are spacious and comfortable and give a feel of a real European historic hotel, not a sterile chain hotel. Service is very good and the staff speaks fairly good English. Everyone was friendly and service oriented. Thr dining facilites are lovely and well designed. We ate breakfast and one dinner in the beer garden and enjoyed the food and the service. I would highly recommend this hotel. There is no elevator but this was not a problem for us.
Beautiful setting on river with castle views - very special. Friendly and helpful breakfast staff. Disinterrested staff at our arrival. Had to search to find someone to check us in. Phoned to confirm family room (indicated in booking.com overview). No recollection of conversation. Allocated a singel room and charged accordingly. No flexibility to have dinner in restaurant despite being within restaurant timings.
The staff was courteous and friendly. The food and service excellent. And what a view of the castle!
The hotel was everything that we expected, a beautiful old 300 year old house set on the banks of the river Saar. The bedrooms are spacious and furnished to a high standard with excellent bathroom facilities and a comfortable bed. The breakfast buffet was good and the evening meal was a culinary delight. We would definately recommend this hotel and hope to return. An excellent location for a special occassion, especially in the summer when you can dine on the terrace overlooking the river. Absolutely nothing!
Cozy rural hotel, friendly staff. Room was spacious and clean. Good wi-fi signal. Hotel is located in a wonderful area, perfect to visit many places: Luxembourg, Trier, Moselle Valley, Saar Valley... Excellent area for trekking and clycling. In general, good value pricing. It is 5 km far from Merzig, not easy to find it if you do not ask locals. But once you know the way, easy to get there...
This hotel is a short ride through the woods away from the Wolf Park. The pool was delicious because we biked up the hill to get there.
All the staff which we were in contact with were helpfull. There was a language problem, (translation) but staff seemed to be tolerant with this. The morning breakfast was good The resturant for the evening meal was rubbish. The main meal could have been cooked for longer, the dessert little or no choice. The overal time from ordering to serving was so long we thought they had forgotten us. We thought the cook had gone home.
Very unfriendly staff. The confirmation e-mail said that check-in was till midnight, and I came before 11. There was nobody there, and only after 20 min of ringing and knocking some family member opened and gave me a room. In the morning, staff complained to me for arriving so late. I asked for an invoice, but was told that it was too early (7:30). I was supposed to pay without an invoice.
This hotel is really a hidden gem. The hospitality of the owners and the bar employees is so genuine, so real that it makes you feel like you own the home. They share everything with you, but most of all they share their feel-good sentiment. As for the location, it's so quiet, so romantic.
We liked that there was a bier garden and playground at the hotel so, after a long day, the children could play and we could have a drink.
Convenient location with very good facilities
The room was well equipped and comfortable. The restaurant choice and quality was good. Breakfast buffet good.
The food was very good
