The location on the seafront was wonderful with excellent access to the beach and the garden around the swimmingpool was very pleasant. The food in the restaurant was very good as was the service.
What a lovely surprise this hotel was, wish we could have stayed longer. Superb location, off the beaten track so no street noise, just the sound of the sea. Fantastic (but basic) room with private balcony with sea view. Hotel has restaurant with good food.
The hotel itself is lovely, well looked after, the staff were very helpful and the views/location of the hotel is fantastic! it was an extremely pleasant stay and we will definitely be returning - great value for money.
It's quite close to a small vilage but otherwiaw fairly remote. Nothing to do except enjoy the food (hotel restaurant virtually on the sea shore), relax on the hotel's beach, swim and read. Perfect if you want to completely wind down. No complaints.
We travelled to Maratea as it was on our way to Sicily. It was comfortable for and reasonable value for the price The staff were friendly but did not speak much english at all which made communicating a little difficult
Quiet location; beautiful views; friendly staff; breakfast buffet; excellent dinner offering; beach, pool, bar terrace, room balcony. Everything you need for relaxing. very good value for money. our bathroom was a bit small.
Facility itself was good. Compared with other hotels we stayed at was not well managed. Little english spoken. Guests took second place during and after a wedding breakfast.Difficult to find.
very nice location near the sea, good hotel, I think more than 3 stars the restaurant in the hotel is expensive and no more place to eat around.
This is a real gem for both its overall operation as a hotel and its location. A great pool with outstanding views. Typical stone beach but very private. Positano without the higher costs.
The most breathtaking views from our room! Private gorgeous beach and pool area. A real gem! Rooms a bit dated and a bit of a seaside odor in them.
Staff was excellent. View was good. Jacuzzi should be heated . . .we know this may seem strange for an Italian hotel but an unheated jacuzzi is just weird
The views from the room were excellent with sounds of the ocean lulling you to sleep at night. Staff were friendly. Shower had good water pressure. If people are expecting an LCD TV and the latest in furnishing this is not the place for you.
Nice view of Scalea beach line down to Cirella island.Private beach with also a stony shore. We enjoyed looking at many kinds of fish around a stony shore.
The location of the hotel was perfect, central of Scalea and overlooking the beach with great views. The staff were friendly and eager to help you even though most didnt speak english. Overall a very enjoyable experience and i intend to stay there again in October. Only two members of staff spoke english and they need to vary the breakfast selection on a daily basis
We missed our train to Naples because the guy on duty couldnt organise a taxi and was even asking us for a taxi number. As soon as his replacement came on, we got a taxi straight away but it was too late and we had to play E300 to get to Naples in order to make our flight.
Everything! The hotel needs more advertizing ,show better the location.
Quiet location, attractive setting, calm atmosphere, apparent high standards throughout, good views I checked out straightaway because the only room they could offer faced inwards and was at ground level. They were very nice and said there would be no canx charges. I am sure I would have been very happy if I could have had a better room. The lady on reception who handled the problem was superb.
shower and location. Air condition worked well. Pool entertainment no attendants on beach. No water for shower on beach.
This place was awesome Just beautiful only wish we had more time to stay there Rooms exquisite as well as restaurant breakfast and diner Staff could not have done more to make our stay wonderful Can not wait ti return
Beautiful surroundings & excellent customer service. There was a wedding during our stay and we could not utilise the restaurant or the pool. The wedding guests had use of these areas.
The peace and quiet; the pool; the helpfulness of the staff. No.
Beautiful hotel in an equally good location, perched above a wonderful village. Tasteful and elegant rooms and facilities.
Very unique and characteristic decoration, fantastic ! Massage service was very expensive
Lovely hotel! Nice room! Good restaurant! Excellent service! Attractive small town!
Staff is very friendly, welcoming, and helpful -- (thankfully) without being gushy. Like the entire hotel, rooms and bathrooms are tastefully furnished and decorated, and spotlessly clean. Location is ideal: overlooking the picturesque village of Maratea (centro storico a few steps below), with great views into valley and mountains. Beaches are easily accessible by car. Excellent restaurant, too My room could have been larger. (For fairness' sake, I should add that I was originally assigned a larger room, but one with a less spectacular view. In a way, it was my choice to trade size for view, and I am sure, the more expensive options offer both.) The sun did not reach the garden in late afternoons. (But then again, it was early October).
The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Location was superb, so close to Maratea with beautiful views.
The building; the pool; the view from our room; the decor The meal in the restaurant was expensive and ordinary
The location was superb and the sea view from our room was spectacular. The private secluded beach was truly amazing and well worth the 800m walk.
Nice walk to beach. Wonderful, clean water. Quiet location Room was dreary, very large with dirty couch, very small window with only light coming in would be to keep doors open. Asked for another room and told none were available, except when we found sheets were dirty were we given another room, which size was perfect for 2 people. Guests allowed to keep their dogs should still not be allowed in restaurant. A large German shepherd left its scent everywhere
The view from our room was beautiful. The hotel owner was very kind and tried to provide solutions to some basic problems. There was no one else staying at the hotel while we were there. The restaurant was closed for the season and the indoor pool was not heated making it too cold to swim. This should have been indicated on the hotel's website as I feel we paid for these amenities but they were unavailable to us. There was also no heating in the hotel, but he owner provided us a small space heater to warm our room, and one of the three days we were there, there was no hot water in the room.
Pleasant and helpful service. Very clean. Excellent breakfast. Good swimming pool. Peaceful location in nice surroundings. Good rooms.
Friendly staff, good location No
Staff were very helpful and interested. Parking was free and easy. Breakfast was included in the price and was great. Location fantastic. We loved our stay there.
Modern, clean hotel. Very close to town centre and beaches.
Family's hands on management of the hotel which gives almost immediate responce to our requirements during the stay.
Restaurant Room & bathroom had poor lighting. Room safe insecure.
The staff are excellent, it's a family run hotel and the service very good indeed. A beautiful location a little way from the beach but there's a free shuttle bus to the beach and railway station. A very good restaurant and we had a comfortable superior room. You do need a car though. Highly recommend. No not really - would definitely stay again.
This is a gem, staff delightful, rooms great, food excellent and reasonably priced. The hotel is not by the sea, but has an excellent pool. The area is fasinating, particularly when we were there in May. We stayed one night but would have liked to stay longer.
Friendly staff, nice location, nice hotel Our room was a bit cold, poor beakfast, ridiculously old and small TV
very clean and welcoming - most relaxing pool with sea and mountains vie - nice restaurant and terrazzi with views - nice local food. little or nothing to do after dinner. ie. taking a walk.
Restaurant good Too far from the town and close to the railway line and cement works
Layed Back Relaxing
Great value for money and facilities, great food, friendly staff, ideal location for exploring the surrounding area, convenient parking
friendly, helpful owner one of the largest and cleanest pools during our stay in Italy
Only an overnight stay so unable to give lots of detail. Dining room closed when we arrived at 9.15 pm, this was main problem, Dining room closed too early
There was an additional pay (club card), the amount was not shown neither on the homepage of booking nor on the confirmation. This created irritation between us and the hotel.
Hotel placed on the beach. I would expect that the 4 stars hotel is in better condition. Looks better on photos than in reality.
Nothing really, it is stuck in a 1970s British Butlins timewarp. The original room we were provided was nothing like the website depicted. After complaining they attempted to make us feel obliged to them as they gave us an 'upgrade' which it was not.....they 'upgraded' us to what we thought we had booked. We disliked everything about this resort, if you would like details, give me a much larger text box. It was pure misery and we left 3 days early without even asking for a refund as we were in such a hurry to get away from there!
The Hotel is located close to the beach; there is nice swimming pool (the deep one so not occupied by small children). The old disigne comming from years 1970-1980; hardly possible to find english speaking staff; Generally so so service; a lot of people but they are unable to respond to any question without confirming it with the manger who is only one. They gave us 3-person room with additional bed instead of 4 person room, we booked. The staff in dinning room could not organize the table for us (what is funny enought because there is about 100-200 tables). It is hardly possible to sleep befor 1 am because of events ("show time", karaoke and so on); the air- conditionnig is (propably) as old as the disigne of the hotel and works in try and pray mode.
Beach, sea, water sports. Bella Italia held in the hotel during our stay. Internet was not working during our stay. Food in the restaurant leaves much to be desired.
very good Hotel
The staff were very friendly and the hotel was right on the beach (w/ a view of the castle) and main street in Scalea. There was gated parking. The french restaurant nearby that the staff recommended had good food and service, and the staff there were very kind to our toddler son. The hotel served eggs for breakfast, the only hot breakfast offered among the 7 hotels we visited in central and southern Italy. Essentially, the hotel was basic. Room and common areas were somehat dated. Room itself was fairly small, though it did have a balcony and a view of the sea. Hotel and town were a little depressing in the off-season overall. We paid a similar price for far superior hotels in the other locations during our trip. However, the pickings were slim in the Maratea area on booking.com in November.
The hotel was located close to relatives who lived in nearby town. Front desk staff very helpful. Located on Tyrennian Sea and we spent an afternoon sitting in seaside chairs relaxing after a very long journey to Scalea. Nice pool. Easy walking distance into town.
The family atmosphere, the caring attitude of each member of staff, the good humour, the interest they took in each guest, the kindness in doing everything possible to help with practical issues, such as driving me to the train station free of charge on my day of departure.
Good location and friendly and helpful staff.
The staff were particularly helpful and courteous The hotel position meant that all excursions had to be made by car. There were no facilities for taking a walk near the hotel
This is a hotel in a class of its own in Italy and a rare find in this part of Italy. It has reminded us of the French style hotel and much like the Chateaux and Relais group used to be years ago. Please don't become like 'them'. Sorry I cannot contribute anything on what I may have not liked in this hotel, except that we should have stayed longer !
We greatly enjoyed the level of service and the excellent facilities. The location is spectacular.
a beautiful hotel with some wonderful antique pieces in a fresh and spacious interior.the staff were very helpful and provided us with dinner although we arrived after serving time.lovely gardens.
Staff very good, helpful and friendly.Hotel comfortable and linen in particular excellent. Hanger Rail in wardrobes difficult to reach if you are short.Lack of shaving mirror was inconvenient.
The hotel definately deserves the word "Romantik"! Great location overlooking the turquise waters of the bay, home like atmosphere, quiet and welcoming. The delicious dinner on the terrace under the stars and surrounded by the candle lights is a MUST. After that just go to the hotel's sun deck where it feels like you are in planetarium at night and you feel yourself on top of the world with only sea below you and stars above. Well, unfortunately not ALL the rooms have a real sea view or overlooking the garden. Upon arrival we were booked at a room which overlooked the staircase mostly, but happily enough the attentive staff upgraded us to the superior sea view room (with additional payment), so be as precise as possible when making your reservations. And just pay attention that there no swimming pool on the location and you need to walk down the stairs to the nice beach below. And was not an issue with us but someone could be upset.
The setting is breathtaking and the staff is amazingly attentive. We had dinner there and it was one of our best meals in two weeks.
The staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful. The owner spoke excellent English and was very welcoming. We arrived late and were very tied and hungry and the restaurant was about to close, but it was no trouble for the staff to serve us an excellent meal. Our room was spotlessly clean and modern. We had booked a superior room view and it was huge with breathtaking views to the water. Nothing everytrhing was great. Only wished we had booked two nights instead of just one!
Staff were extremely helpfull but a bit stressed during breakfast. Our room was terrible and needed reparation. Every time we took a shower it was water all over. Uncomfortable bed.
Very reasonable price. Great location (on the beach, a block from the main promenade). Secured parking. Friendly staff. Very modern interior common spaces. Next door to the best neopolitan pizza i've had outside of Naples! Although the common spaces of the hotel were modern and new, the room was not. Not necessarily a deal breaker, but the bed was saggy and uncomfortable. I did not check out the hotel's beach, but from the beaches we did go to, the indication was that the beaches get better the further south you go. I thought the best beaches were adjacent to the island - which is about 2km+ from the hotel.
Hotel was basic and comfortable, location was not bad however it was difficult to find. Rooms were small, lack of mini-bar/fridge meant it was impossible to keep a supply of fresh cold water. parking was a bit haphazourd and the lack of a lift meant that luggage needs to be brought to the rooms via the staris.
very clean No choice of breakfast. We were given a croissant and could pick a yoghurt.
Located just in front of the sea and conviniently not far from the railway station and the main street of Praia-A-Mare town. Staff speak only Italian. There was only one girl at the reception who spoke some English and we had to catch her to ask some basic questions. In general, Praia-A-Mare is not an international resort, you have to either learn Italian or go somewhere else. The hotel itself is quite old and too shabby for the price, two beds joint together to form a double bed, no mini-bar in the room. "Private beach" and "free rent-a-bike service" advertised on the website turned out to be paid for. The "sea view" from the room was limited to a strip of sea in the distance. Breakfast consisted of coffe and croissant only, the service was extremely slow (like everywhere in the town).
The position overlooking the sea and the hotels beach is wonderful and we good see all this from the balcony of our room which was large and nicely tiled. We enjoyed swimming in the sea and the pool and breakfast on the terrace. The hotel is quite large and there werea lot of guests making the dining room in particular rather busy and impersonal. The food was ok and there is no obvious easy alternative place to eat.
Location was excellent. Very relaxing. Beautiful beach. Air conditioning struggled in the heat. Extras at the spa were a sting (eg 5 euro for a compulsory cap for use in the spa)
