General helpfulness of all the staff - we stayed during the recent floods and the reception kindly checked local weather forecasts, which roads were open, offered directions, general local information about dispensing chemists. We felt that everything possible was done to ensure our comfort. Menu and the food was excellent and very reasonable. Cosy seating area with real fire. Disappointed that there was no lift to bedrooms / upper floors - probably the consequence of the age and design of the building.
Friendly staff. good location. we asked for a hairdryer as the one in the room didnt work this never materialised. The heating was intermittent
Food was great, loads of choice and the quality was very high Staff were very helpful and friendly Quite noisy as my room was above the courtyard
Loved, loved, loved the warm towels. Room was clean, warm and cosy. Toilet seat was loose and hairdryer didn't work.
Nice big room It would have been nice to have a Gideon Bible in the room - telephone the local branch or Gideon HQ in Lutterworth & they will supply f.o.c.
It was close to transport by rail and bus, and near to the things I wanted to see in that part of cornwall. The loudness and late finish of the Karaoke on the Friday night -but then I am 58 and not a party goer as such....
The friendly staff.
the breakfast was good. The hotel was warm and comfortable. Would stay there again and recommend to friends. Reading other reviews they said the noise was an issue but we heard nothing and had a good nights sleep
Very good welcome, all the staff were friendly and helpful. The standard of catering is also very good. I only just found out that they have added VAT to the whole bill! Your booking confirmation clearly states that it was included in the quoted price for the accomodation, and i am surprised that it was not included in the menu prices. I have yet to take this up with the hotel.
Friendly & professional staff. Good food. Kept awake by yobs shouting & screeching in the street. Unattractive area.
Helpful staff Room freezing-damp sheets-no towelrail in bathroom-soap dispenser did not work-nowhere to put cases.
Made to feel very welcome. The room was excellent for disabled access. The location was a little difficult to find and was isolated well out of town. Table Table connected restaurant useful but would like to suggest a greater variety of vegetables added to their menu.
The friendliness and helpfullness of the staff. The convenienece of a good place for breakfast and evening meals so close. I would have liked a second chair in the room.
Good comfortable hotel, no frills, but helpful staff. Good for business travellers, big selection for breakfast. Should make however internet for free, other places do. Rooms can get stuffy, windows were easily opened.
easy access to the eden centre also heligan .
the location was very good for the eden project so it's a must if I ever go to eden project again. air conditioning in the rooms were poor. Outside was very cold and windy and when we turn the ac on, it was noisy and took over 2 hours to gain 2C in the room because it was blowing warm air (more or less room temp) out instead of hot or cold air so watching television was a problem late at night as we couldn't turn the volume up.
closeness to Eden Project
Hotel was good & ideally located to a pub. Reasonably priced Internet facility. B'fast option good. Rooms clean & spacious enough for a family of 4. It will be good if the rooms have a mini bar service. Specially when U'r travelling with small kids there are a few odd things U need to keep in the fridge.
Staff pleasant, left to ourselves. On one day the maids did not arrive until late pm. We dined the first night in the pub, in a hurry! Three courses took over three and a half hours. Insufficient staff in the restaurant & kitchen. Customers wwere leaving to be told that there was a 30 mins wait for dessert. It was 20 mins for order to be taken. 25 mins to be served the first course, 35 minutes for the main course to arrive. Not good enough, we dined elsewhere the rest of the week.
Friendly, helpful staff. Good location for Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan etc. Good restaurant. Lovely views over bay Restaurant is separate so if it rains you would get wet going for breakfast. No sofa in room and only one chair.
The whole experience was a pleasure, such lovely people and a fantastic guest house. None at all!!
The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The ensuite double room was very nice but a little on the small side.
The owner was very friendly and ensured our comfort, fabulous breakfasts. Room was a little on the small side but there was a conservatory to relax in.
Great room Great food Good hosts
A loveely place to stay in St Austell, convinient for the town or to explore the area. The hosts were very kind and helpful.
The owners were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. They took care of our every need. The room was very clean and nicely furnished. The hotel was right on a small road with some traffic.
Warm welcome and room spotlessly clean. Room rather small although owner had anticipated all requirements. Any longer stay and we would have struggled to hang up clothes.
It was everything one would exspect for the price. The propriators made us very welcome, service was excellent, food very good. We could not fault it in any way.
On arrival we were taken straight to our room and offered a complimentary cup of tea. The staff were very friendly and helpful in offering local information and a street map was made available to us during our stay. We would definitely recommend this guest house to others.
The gueshouse is charming and immaculate. The rooms are beautiful and very clean (it was very important for me). The service is at a very high standard. The hostess Barbara was extremely nice and welcoming. We had a very nice stay in St Austell. The breakfast was really good! I I loved the pancakes every morning. We will recommend this guesthouse to everyone. Lovely couple and amazing stay!
The hotel is well situated near many attractions and has a marvellous view of the ocean. It has a quiet and private setting. I would have liked tea/coffee service in the room.
Beautiful situation with marvellous view of carlyon Bay None really, apart from the impression about service above.
The Staff were very helpful. The food was a delight. Our room was most comfortable, with a sea view. The position of the hotel gave us a view of the whole bay. We were able to park our car very near our room, by special arrangement because of my walking disability. I wad disappointed that I was not able to easily walk along the cliff top path because of the difficulty of access.
Service, all staff provided excellent service to ensue we enjoyed our stay.
The view is fantastic
The friendly and helpful staff
Staff were excellent and food was vry good Room smelt musty.
Our stay in a seaview room was great, panoramic views of the bay were excelent as hotel is situated on the cliff top. staff and management could not have been better, breakfast was good. room was really clean and spacious and finished to a high standard, if you are looking for an excellent hotel and value for money look no further excellent no faults
Location and proximity to Charlestown and the Eden Project. For a "superior" room it was a testament to the art of compactness! On our final day/night the room was not serviced at all. It was then superficially tidied up on our complaining. We then complained further and it was finally fully serviced at 6.00pm. Also we were "bumped" away from a promised window table when we asked for only two courses not three. Not good for the first night. The food is good but expensive. Fresh fruit was not available at breakfast.
The view is truly stunning; the room was new and very well appointed; breakfast was excellent. I knew we weren't getting a room with a view of the bay, but it was disappointing to have a view of a construction site.
Room facilities Dinner was booked up at breakfast time
outstanding staff and excellent food combined with fantastic spa facilities, keep exclusive not mainstream
Hotel was fab, thought it was great that they allowed dogs as we have a toy poodle and he goes most places with us. Food in restaurant excellent.staff very friendly .
Very comfortable hotel, completely re-built renovated to high standards, good chef, very friendly attentive staff. Very nice SPA and Fitness. Comfortable spacious rooms with great beds. Tastefully decorated.Quiet landscaped surroundings. Clean. Computer voice in elevator warning for closing and opening of doors is over the top. The voice sounds harsh and unfriendly and is way too loud. Does not belong in a Spa hotel, much rather in the elevator of an airport parking garage. I would change that to a softer calmer version or get rid of it alltogether. Calls for the emotion of people running around in HiVi jackets.
friendly helpful staff; beautiful room with lovely view of countryside, excellent breakfast we had to wait to be seated for breakfast as they could not accomodate for the numbers of guests even though it was not high season.
Premises, room, facilities, food, receptionist was polite and helpful. Poor attention to detail at breakfast. Not offered menu, no-one took our order - had to go and find staff. No butter or teaspoons on table. Actually, I filled in the questionairre in the room.
The staff were particularly attentive. The Acorn bistro served excellent food at reasonable prices. We really liked the spa pool and other facilities, but the hotel was quiet ahead of the Easter rush. We stayed in a two bedroom woodland home which was really good for two of us, would have been fine for four, but might be a bit tight for six people. Well located for the Eden project and getting to places in mid Cornwall. The grounds are still in the process of being landscaped, so we could not use them, but we are sure from the work completed so far they will be to a high standard.
There was nothing to fault about The Cornwall. From the moment we arrived we were treated so well. Ross, the porter, gave us a great tour of the hotel and the facilities. We were made to feel welcome and cared for throughout our stay
Professional and helpful staff, especially in restaurant
Great facilities every thing we required would reccomend to all Continuty of staff at the spa regarding communication
rooms very clean and food very good
comfort and cleanliness
The cleanliness and attention to detail was unbeatable ,the staff were friendly and obliging giving the hotel a relaxed atmosphere. The food was overpriced and extremely poor quality. We ate at the Royal Talbot ,subsequently we will probably book five days in June there because of this.
It was good value and located close to the Cornish coastline No dislikes but missed the bar not serving bar meals
We were made to feel welcome straight away, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was wonderful and the bed really comfortable, I wish we had the chance to stay a few more nights but our journey was ongoing. The breakfast the next morning was all we had anticipated from a proper cornish hotel
The great friendliness of all the staff, particularly as I was a solo traveller While the restuarant survice was excellent, the quality of the cooking of dinner was a bit disappointing
Very comfortable and quiet room. Excellent car parking. Pleasant surroundings. bathroom was a little small and needed updating
Beautiful setting Poor shower, sprayed everywhere!!
Staff very helpful and friendly Seating in public lounge not very comfortable, no television in public lounge
The cleanliness and newly-decorated feel; the helpfulness of the staff particularly during the flooding which affected the Lostwithiel area; the wi-fi coverage; the incorporation of several buildings giving a non-national-chain impression. The lack of any available outside seating during the winter season, which would be particularly useful for disabled/semi-disabled guests. The residents' lounge/bar wasn't really adequate.
informal atmosphere, friendly and easy going. when dining/drinking inhouse,as we did,not being able to sign for anything you charge to your room on each occassion.Long list presented at checking out day for you to remember what you had had!
well situated,good food,
Friendly staff, reasonable restaurant
Due to a faint smell in our room noticed by the cleaner, we were upgraded as soon as we got there free of charge, for a room with a sea view. The food was fantastic, the staff were welcoming, and the whole place relaxing. I can find nothing about the Rashleigh Arms to dislike.
We especially like the staff who went out of their way to help and please the only downsie which I don't think can be changed is the creaky floors in the bedrooms this was our second stay and would certianly stay again in the future See answer above
The staff and managers and the food Small room
charecter and friendly service in a great area
Friendly, relaxed and welcoming. None
A very friendly atmosphere, staff very helpful. Obviously very popular judging from residents visiting again having enjoyed previously visits There was nothing I did not like
Very friendly staff, excellent food - very good range and quality, relaxing bar with excellent beers Bed was rather uncomfortable - could do with a new mattress - could feel some of the springs!
Dinner menu expensive and not to our taste
good attention to detail, nice staff, good food. Very good value.
Excellent Food and service staff, wonderful views. Parking, Only that we were not able to have a space, but unloading and loading was fine.
did not appreciate the request to leave a gratuity when paying final bill as a result left nothing
Good food, comfortable bedroom and comfortable lounge Lack of car parking spaces and the Dartmoor Bitter running out on Sunday evening.
The rooms were of good size and the views over the river/harbour were spectacular. It was also in avery quiet location.
good location, friendly and helpful staff, excellant room
the sea view the price
the view noise from rooms above and parking problems
The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The food was really tasty and freshly cooked. would stay there again
A warm welcome and excellent room and a dinner menu that was delicious and well presented Booking out.
The foodwas very good and the hotel was very well run. The owners really care about the guests comfort and needs. They went the "extra mile"
Our room was really comfortable and the little en suite shower room was just right for our needs, but when I wanted a bath it was great to have the beautiful shared bathroom too. Having the pub restaurant serve good value pub style food was a great advantage but if we'd wanted something else there were a couple of places just across the road. The staff were really thoughtful in helping us get around with cabs and suggesting other places to go in our spare time. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The bus to the station runs past the pub, which means that you can get to Eden and Heligan, as well as other local spots, by changing at the station. Tea and coffee were topped up straight away when we asked but I think it would have been nicer if they'd been replenished daily as a matter of course.
the staff could did everything to make my stay a good experience, they helped me to realy feel welcome from the start. they also informed me of local events.
I thought the Duke of Cornwall had a great atmosphere. A good old fashioned pub. The food was well cooked and reasonably priced. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. My grandsons liked the modern flat screen tv which is unusual in this price range. Although the rooms were not ensuite and you had to use a communal toilet I think this is reflected in the price.
Clean and tidy and staff very friendly and helpful Bathroom a little on the small side
