Well located and very nice and spacious room Parking challenging and not possible to stop in front of the hotel
Clearness of the room, design of the interior, location
Hotel location and near train station
Location Attitude of the staff
Location ideal for Gare de Lyon
helpful and pleasant staff
The room was clean. comfortable and nicely furnished.
Very comfortable bed The frosted glass walls of the bathroom!
Good location. By Paris standards good price/quality ratio.Comfortable. Helpful and friendly staff. Nothing
Great location. Easy to get to places being near the train station
The hotel is centrally located, walking distance to the Lyon train station is a big plus, the hotel in general is very clean and the decoration is charming. The front desk staff is very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The bed is very comfortable and the room size for 3 persons is good. The amenities in the room are great: Nespresso coffee maker, water, small fridge, and the toiletries are of good quality. The only thing we did not like at all is that the restroom door is made out of glass and is pretty see through!! There is no privacy!! We had to place a towel on the door railing for privacy and my son even turned off the light when he was taking a shower!! I recommend that a curtain is put in place to cover the glass door!! Specially when the door is in a diagonal position facing the bed. I was laying down in bed and could see my son's silhouette in the restroom!! This alone would keep me from staying at this hotel again.
The bed Bathroom was a bit pokey
front desk disorganized--booked transport and as a result of not telling me cash was required caused airport hassle. now hassle about a key given to shuttle driver. they claim i lost...not happy poor communications
Everything was very nice. Rooms are very comfortable. Nice position, not far from Bastille
The location of the hotel and the fact that it has 4 stars when the facilities perhaps suggest 3 stars.
suitable hotel location, comfort, peace no big problems
The rooms are large Noisy from both the Metro and other rooms. No information available regarding Paris. Very poor when compared with other hotels we have stayed in around Paris.
Staff was helpful; good location; nice bathroom Room safe was broken
Friendly night staff, room and garage We noticed the underground metro as well as the light transformers do not let you sleep well. Electrical noise.
The lovely relaxing ambience, breakfast and great position Some of the staff had difficulty dealing with some of our queries. Others were very efficient and very personable and polite.
Good location, nicely furnished, very friendly staff
the area. the staff were rude and unhelpful, it was run like a hostel. it was incredibly overpriced, and there were no benefits to staying there and for the price it was - i would have been treated the same at a backpackers
The staff are excellent especially the guy who is on at nights. They were happy to phone up restaurants and make reservations in French, recommend areas to go out drinking etc. The beds are unbelievably good - I practically went into a coma, had the best sleep I've had in a long time. Good insulation against street noise. Rooms are a little small but that's Paris for ya, so nothing new there. Wi-fi was free which is cool, it times out every 10-20 minutes which can be annoying if you're in the middle of booking a flight or something. Location is great - doesn't feel touristy at all, but is within 5-10 minute walk of Gare du Lyon and 5 mins from Bastille metro.
nothing. just bed was comfortable. stuff is nice people. and safe hotel brackfast was poor. and expansive
Very good sized bath and excellent shower. The location is pefect for explolring Paris but it's quiet too. No problems
The staff was very helpful and the breakfast was excelent The room was quite small
A tranquil location in the centre of Paris. The staff are very patient and friendly and will do everything they can to help make your stay pleasant. Very modern and clean hotel. Nothing
Staff, location, cleanliness & comfort of room, A/C
Very friendly and helpful staff - well designed room.
cool design throughout - immaculate presentation - first class staff
Could not fault this hotel - friendly, helpful, superior decor. I would definitely stay there again
The staff was great and very helpful. The rooms were really really clean!
The art design of the hotel is very cool and classy. The bed was super comfortable and the staff was very friendly. The breakfast wasn't anything to boast about. for 12 pounds it was only coffee, tea, pastry and cereal. There are cafe's within walking distances with a full breakfast.
The area and proximity to venues of interest
In the heart of Le Merais area and easy to go anywhere i liked
The staff was quite nice. Facilities were a bit average.
Location is convinient. Easy to get to Metro station and some of the sights with walking distance. In front of the Hotel there is a wonderfull fish restaurant, every wednesday they have Oysters party! Must visit!!! Small room and poor breakfast.
location jr suite very small, room could have been cleaner, lift was slow to inoperable because it was the only for guest and cleaning staff
proximity to Le Marais rooms very clean a little noisy due to situation erratic daily change of towels, e.g. sometimes 2 bath towels, soem other times, on1 bath but 2 hand towels, at others, no hand towels....
The location. I stayed for 2 nights and the first one we didn´t have hot water so not chance to have a shower. The room is really small and the renovation in 2009 is not real....
The hotel is very comfortable and the staff most helpful. It is near to a Metro station and very convenient to walk around much of Paris from the hotel.
The room was like a home away from home; nothing incredibly fancy but you feel right at home. It was nice to find a hotel that had a bath. The location was excellent and the staff very friendly. All the shops and bars are within walking distance. The room was fairly small but what do you expect for a city hotel – you’re not really spending that much time in there to be fair. The bed was very comfortable. The walls were very thin and you could hear dull conversations from the next room but it wasn’t intrusive. There was a really strong air freshener smell when we entered the room. Nothing wrong with a room smelling nice but this was very overpowering.
Location is excellent and so close to transportation Staff on check-in were absolutely rude and made one feel a complete inconvience. Generally staff were not very helpful. Hotel is reasonable value given Paris prices.
place was good When I checked in, an empty bottle of the previous customer was left..
Great location. The hotel was going through reforms so they put us in a different hotel one day then moved to a room the next but the people in the front desk were not helpful at all.
Location was excellent!! I would actually book this hotel again, only complaint really is the bed, but then again you get what you pay for! Hotel room was very clean, and really nice bathroom. One staff member who checked us in was very friendly, and then another one had a little attitude when asked something, but overall most of the staff greeted you as you entered the hotel.
The room is clean and looks recently renovated. Bathroom is surprisingly high-end and nice. Staff are excellent (and they speak English/French). Didn't try the breakfast but it seemed to be decent value. Room just contains beds, a desk, and a closet--it's quite small, but sufficient. Pillows were quite uncomfortable--hard and lumpy, and they seemed to be filled with recycled foam or something.
the area (local shops restaurants etc.). close to metro. nice clean hotel with good breakfast.
too few hangers
We liked the location, because it was close to the Seine and we needed to be at a boat for a nighttime cruise. The staff was not very friendly, they seemed bothered when we sought assistance, and there was no phone in the room able to call out.
location, staff and cleanliness of the room
Very close to metro station Too expensive for the quality. Air conditioning not working.
Proximity to metros A lack of extras in the room eg mini bar, tissues. No postage stamps at reception
The location of the hotel is ideal. It's close to 2 metro stops and a major street with grocery store and many restaurants and shops around. It's also not far from the Marais neighborhood The cleanliness of the hotel was inconsistent.
hotel room was not clean when we arrived, very expensive for what it is
Location, standard of facilities, helpful and friendly staff The first room we were offered was not as good as our rooms in the past (5th stay here) we were moved immediately.
Bed and pillows were so comfortable. Staff friendly.
Location was excellent! On good Metro lines, steps away from restaurants, le Marais, other attractsions. Very clean. Room was small but efficient. Hallways and stairs are made for skinny people. Everything worked, but I would like to have had a chair with a back on it, rather than a hassock to squat on at the desk. Poor wifi, like so many hotels. Hotel had power outage in the middle of the night and no one from reception told guests what to do. Reception did not answer the phone for what seemed like an eternity. Power was out in my room for 45 minutes late on a Saturday night. My room, hallway and stairs were completely dark. I assumed the rest of the hotel was out, too. Only light was a battery-operated sign in hallway pointing to dark, treacherous spiral stairs. After 30 minutes or so, hallway lights went on but not those in my room. Eventually, reception answered my calls and sent someone up to reactivate power. 45 minutes of not knowing what was going on at reception in hotel in the middle of downtown Paris during a time of highest security alert, with ongoing large street protests going on only blocks away! Dangerous and totally unacceptable. Breakfast was satisfactory, nothing special. My magnetic door key got scrambled and I asked reception to reactivate it so I could get into my room. Reception told me not to carry it around with me all day. Maybe I shouid have left it under the door mat? Overworked, undertrained people working the desk.
Friendliness of staff and welcome we received. Room was a little small, though clean and comfortable.
Very good location, clean & nice breakfast. A good hotel for young people and families. A bit noisy, specially if you have active next door neighbours... Woudl not reccomend hotel to elder peaople.
Our room was small with a low ceiling . The fact that we have to pay for internet wireless a very high prize . I expected it to be a free standard service.
proximity to metro stations and Paris nightlife; air-conditioning rooms are not soundproof
Friendly Staff. Good location. Excessive heat in the rooms. Bathtub had not a full size separation screen so it was difficult not to fill everything with water.
The reception staff were very helpful with directions. The location of the hotel. Smallish dark room (but we were given another when we complained)
Convenient to metro and good restaurants. Room tastefully decorated with ample space. Good continental breakfast which is available at an extra cost.
The location was great, and the space was generous. Facilities were good. The room was not clean, it was smelly and due for renewal. Carpets, bathroom and furniture were tired and worn. Quite disappointing for the price.
It was far beyond our expectations, value for money is very good, very clean, new and well equiped fro an appartment
It's situated near Bastille Metro Station, which is 3-5 min walk and as a studio has a little kitchen where you can cook yourself. In front of the hotel everyday from 9 or 10am there is food market, with lovely sea food and vedges. plus G20 store and loadz of cafes around Plaza Bastille. Cafe-restaurant on the corner near hotel is very good also, but most of the staff doesn't know English. No hair dryer, no everyday room service!!!
The location so near the railway station was great and there was easy access to supermarkets and other shops nearby. The Richard Lenoir market is just outside the door of the hotel on Sundays which is also nice.Great value for money for a family of 5 ( they put an extra bed in the apartment for us. Also great facilities for simple cooking.
Perfect location in the Marais area, excellent public transportation to major sights, courteous attentive service. Loved the kitchenette and the convenience of preparing coffee in the morning after picking up fresh pastries from nearby bakeries. There is an open market right across the street twice/week and restaurants within walking distance. A bus station is right in front of the hotel and line 69 takes you right to the Eiffel tower in one direction. The other direction is a couple of stops away from the famous Pere Lachaise cemetery. A much better deal than a tourist bus. For a little over Euro 1 you see most of Paris. The hotel is on a busy street, with traffic even during the night. However, it didn't bother us at all. If someone prefers less street noise, might want to use upper floors.
It is very centrally situated close to all amenities even on foot More attention needs to be paid to regular preventive maintenance on a/c units - was a bit disappointed that we had no maid service during our entire 6 day stay and not even the towels were changed!
view from room (6th floor), space (not crouded), clean
Clean, great location Be careful at breakfast...it is NOT free !
it needs renovation...it appears worn, especially the bathroom.
Close to our fields of interest and two Metros not really
Enormous rooms. Comfortable beds.Refridgerator, micro wave, dishwasher. A lot of glasses, cups, plates etc.Close to metro. Within possible walking distanse to everyting. Free internet. Funny smell in toiletroom and wardrobes. Should have been two big towels for each person. Cold be nice with cleaning every second day. Stayed for three nights.
Good quality apartments operated in a user friendly manner the lifts were poorly maintained, (1 slow and the other not working). Not a good idea when you're located on the 6th floor!!
The location is very close to Gare de Lyon so it's handy for travellers who have to spend only one night in Paris and be close to their railway station to keep on the trip. The hotel is simple but clean. The dimension of a double room is too small even for only one person, there is place for the bed and nothing else, the bathroom is hard to use with the door closed, incredibly small too, one cannot turn...
Nice Place, in a center location Quite cold in rooms at night
Good room for two people. Clean room. Nice staff. Easy acsess to Trains and Metro. Would stay again for the price, just what we wanted. And the air-con was a god send! Theres a 'Sex shop' right opposite the hotel so probably not suitable if you have children with you. No tea or coffee making facilitys.
Friendly staff, clean and well appointed room, good value breakfast, good location for the metro
Fantastic bathroom & comfortable bed Would be nice to have other English speaking channels apart from BBC
nothing the 6th floor is the worst..no Internet access. Creepy looking hotel
Friendly reception staff. The rooms were very clean and service was excellent The room was quite small and the lift door opened directly on to our bedroom door which was noisy at times. We also requested a smoking room and although it wasn't stated that we couldn't smoke there was no ashtray provided. We could also have used some Do Not Disturb signs as the maid unlocked our door twice quite early in the morning
price/location very small room
I chose this hotel for reasons of cost (it was on special offer); location (near to the Gare de Lyon, but in a fairly quiet side street); ratings and comments from previous customers. It represented good value for money: only 120 euros for a two night stay. My room was quiet, as requested. It was small, but big enough for my purposes. The ensuite was particularly 'charmant'. Staff were helpful.
Modern bathroom with excellent lighting, discrete & effective air-conditioning in room, friendly and helpful receptionist Optional breakfast a bit spartan (not buffet-style). No international TV program (TV5 Monde or CNN). No soap dish in the shower!
The hotel was really easy to find from the local metre Bastille. It was 200m away on a really good line. There was loads of places to eat and drink very close by. Would stay again. The room was realtively small but for a city break, you don't spend a lot of time in the room. Bathroom has loads of hot water and a great shower!
Great location for transport system. 24 hour reception great for late arrivals. Room was very small for two adults and two teenage children, for the rate charged.
location it's close to gare de lyon & it's very clean the air conditioner in my particular room was not working properly. It was quite warm inside the room
the room, very comfortable and clean. The location, only 1 minute walk to the bastille metro station. You even can walk to notre dame, approx 20mins walk..
Proximity to Metro. Hotel is at main road, rooms at the back are close to busy night club. Very poor value for money.
The staff were very helpful, the decor was very tasteful and the location was excellent
Good location, staff were helpful. Nice clean modern hotel. Breakfast in room is cheaper than the buffet breakfast downstairs. As with all Paris hotels, expensive for what you get. If you are looking for a traditional Parisian charm, look elsewhere. The shower could never make up it's mind as to the water temperature.
Location Being charged for breakfast that we didn't consume. It was easily rectified but still annoying.
I had sent a complaint to Booking.com customer service regarding my experience at this hotel. Unfortunately my laptop is lost and cananot access mails. I will get back to you once i get full mail access and all deatils about my complaint.
Location is great. Walking distance to everything. Metro stop is one minute walk. Staff is friendly and helpful. Room is clean and large by Paris standards.
great location, nice breakfast, quiet, comfy bed, no cable TV as advertised, could not get BBC World News which is important for English speaking guest, bathroom small and plumbing (waste water draining from sink, bath and toilet) not good
The staff was friendly, the breakfast was good and the watercooker on the room with some bags of tea and cookies was a very nice touch.
helpful staff, separate room for our child was welcome too. good breakfaast selection
Clean rooms and check-in Good continental breakfast Front desk people spoke English and very helpful. Small rooms.
The hotel corresponds to what is advertized on the website : clean, brand new and with warm atmosphere - The airport shuttle service proposed by the hotel is really convenient and at a reasonable price. The hotel neighbourhood is quite central, safe and with many shops and restaurants. The tube (Metro) is very close to the hotel and convenient for visiting Paris.
Thanks to Booking.com for alowing me to find this little gem! Excellent service, well decorated and equipped room, fresh and tasty breakfast.
staff was very helpful, location was good/convenient beds were fairly uncomfortable
Very helpful reception staff. Small lift, would be helpful if staff could bring up your luggage.
This is the best hotel we've ever stayed in Paris (in this price range). Clean, relatively spacious, comfortable, excellent breakfast, courteous staff, good location (within walkin distance from good leisure neighborhood and close to metro station).
All the staff were very friendly, the rooms were cleaned every day, the breakfast was excellent all in all a very good hotel well done
Very friendly staff especially towards children no hot water
clean, with aa nice bathroom. good location. the room was somewhat small, which is to be expected for the price and location.
The location was excellent - A very short walk to the underground metro and the Place de Bastille The "suite" was very small and cramped for three adults. It was not worth the money. We stayed at hotels in London, Prague and Zurich. This was the most expensive and the most cramped of the three.
The room although smallish was very comfortable, shower was fantastic. Very nice courtyard None
Friendly staff, comfortable room, good location
A very nice stay at the Castex - the hotel is in a fabulous location for the Marais very close to Bastille and major sights. I had a small room (typical for Paris) off the courtyard but it was comfortable, well equipped and very warm in freezing temperatures. There were free newspapers available at reception and lots of good maps, etc. Breakfast was fairly basic but adequate. The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. Due to a general blackout in Paris we had no hot water one morning and the hotel offered a free breakfast to compensate - much appreciated given it wasn't their fault. A nice touch and one that shows they care about their guests! Room rather small but this is typical for Paris - tea/coffee facility in the room would be a nice touch.
We found the staff very friendly and helpful, we loved the location and we really liked the fact we could make ourselves tea or coffee during the day in the dining room. We were very pleased with our stay!
Free WIFI, great location, close to Rue Rivoli (shopping street) it has so many cafes and nearby restaurants and bars. Clean room and bathroom. nothing!
Castex Hotel is in an excellent location near both the Bastille as well as Marais districts. The gentleman working at the front desk was both cheerful and very helpful in offering suggestions for things to see and do in the area. The hotel felt worn out a bit. While there, the elevator stopped working for a couple of days and there were problems with internet connectivity. Also, the breakfast was not very good...essentially bread and cereal only...not worth the extra charge.
Responsiveness of the host to our needs. Rate seemed a little high for the quality of the hotel and its facilities
Friendly welcome 24hr concierge wasn't - almost didn't make it back into the hotel returning back one evening as he was fast asleep!
