Proximity of the bar and nice and hype people
Very very very good hotel!!! Perfect design!!!! Finger print acces to room- no need a key or a key-card! Location is not really good. Its near La Capella station and there a lot of "strange" people. In the night really scared go for a walk. Very low parking. If you got a SUV or some offroad - it's impossible to park you car undergound. Pure breakfast for 4 star hotel.
The room The decorations in the Hotel
It was a nice room and a high-tec hotel maby the staff could be more cheerfull
staff was very friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable. I slept very well. Good tv facilities. the design was too obsessed with looks and it made the usability of many things suffer. I was not asked whether I wanted a smoking or non-smoking room. There should be instructions in the room about connecting to the wireless internet.
I loved the architecture, the Ice Bar, the food and the staff and being given an upgrade. There were a few too many prostitutes at the bar!!! The curtains and penoir in my room were dirty..I Would have liked a few more toiletries..cotton sticks, toothbrush and tooth paste, extra pillows, more English channels on the tv, there was only BBC..service at the bar was very slow..the location was not good..I Was robbed coming from La Chappelle Metro station..there were no taxis to take me frm or to the station and my luggage was heavy. I would have liked some sort of "welcome" waiting in my room.
The check in went smoothly but then there was only 1 member of staff to take us to our rooms at opposite ends of the hotel. On top of that we asked for an iron which took 40mins to get to the room and then we were told there was only one for the whole hotel and could we tell our friends when we had finished with it so that the could come and get it! The room was very good, nice toiletries, comfortable bed and good tv system.
I liked the originality of the hotel, the reception and the friendliness of the staff. The bed was very good! I think the hotel needs a refresh: design is often quickly outdated, furniture is damaged, fury do not look very clean after 5 years. The neighbourhood is not so attrative although I had no problems.
we had a nice big room the place , too far from center . TV didn't work very good. Badroom very weth after shower because the shower was open: nice to see but nut so practice. No internet in the room
They are working 24 hours a day, location is good. There was cold, temperature in the room was about 15-17 degrees, almost impossible to take a shower and do not take a cold.
the location is not bad, convenient for city sightseeing, room is clean, service is good room is small,no shower curtain in the shower room.
Very much. Very difficult to find. Need more complete directions.
Friendly accomodation, decent breakfast
Location&Hotel staff I like everything
Would be good to have a fridge in the room...
great location....very close to metro.....clean, quiet
Close to a metro station and Gare du Nord, convenient for sightseeing in Paris.
Close to Gard de Nord station. No English speaking channel on satellite TV. Was a little noisy at times but not unbearable.
perfect location, simple but clean room Noisy if next rooms occupied
Great location, friendly staff and clean, modern, stylish rooms.
The only thing is near the metro. The night shift staff is unfriendly at all. He just did the check in and never say anything to greet or mention the things about the hotel, eg. breakfast is included in the room rate, as a result, we missed the breakfast.
The room was very clean, and servied daily. Lift available from first floor. Close to city and sights. Not to pricey. For the area it was excellent value. No tea/coffe facilities in room which would have been nice.
A practical base if you have an early start at Gare de l'Est (1 minute) - or indeed Gare du Nord (10 mins). Unpretentious, our room was clean and quiet, breakfast was OK. Not esp cheap.
very close to Gare de L Est. Walking distance even with heavy luggages The reception is located at the 1st floor without lift. Not convenient for carrying luggages. No access for disable people
Vicinity to station. Staircase to reception.
Very convenient and the staff behind reception were always friendly and willing to help. Was very small but did the job. Cleanliness was not excellent even though there were always cleaners in the corridors, often blocking them with all their things - they were quite rude.
This little gem of a hotel was just perfect for our three-day weekend in Paris! Conveniently located to both Metro and two major train stations, it gave us a great home base while we explored the city. The sleek design and bright colors lent a cheerful, modern feel to the interior spaces. Our room, with its built-in furniture, satisfied all our needs and was comfortable as well. The bath was spacious and very up-to-date and breakfast in the charming little dining room went beyond what you'd expect of a Continental breakfast. It was both ample and delicious! We were daunted at first by the old curving stairway a guest must mount to reach the lobby, but once we'd lugged our suitcases up we found the hotel to be friendly and enchanting (and equipped with a smooth and quiet modern elevator to reach the upper floors.)
The breakfast is very good. We didn't have any problems finding a place to sit.
good location, good places to eat close by, close to metro, good sized room, great staff a bit noisy room facing the road, would benefit from having a fan in the summer,
Hotel staff were very accommodating and helpful. Bed sunk down in the middle.
Near to the Metro. Rooms were clean. It was good for sleeping there only. Breakfast was without assortment, (no meat). Question: Is this hotel really ***?
It was in a great location offered at a very competetive price. Room decor getting tired
The Staff Everything was great
It was good enough for the rate offered. Rather inexpensive by paris standards. The staff were very friendly and helpful although they messed up a little at the end by telling us the wrong departure terminal in CdG (no problem at the end though - we had enough time). Rooms are too small. There are no english language channels on tv - not even BBC and CNN not to mention some sports channels.
No hot water during my presence
Nothing It was very hard to communicate as a foreigner. The room was too small that luggages cannot be placed on the floor and opened and the bed was uncomfortable. This was not as what we expected for this pricing and rating.
Staff was exceptinallyy excellent.. Very friendly and helpful... Location was great, only a 10 min walk from opera... Rooms were clean... Really enjoyed the stay there
It was in a great location, close to the train station and the metro. The staff was very nice and helpful, especially when we received confirmation from the website about our room, but we weren't booked in the hotel's system. Not sure if this was the website's fault or the hotel. It is advertised as having baby cots available for the rooms but they did not. This could be a mistake on the website's part and not of the hotel, but it is very inconvenient for a family w/ a baby to assume there will be a place for the baby to sleep when there isn't one. The beds were very uncomfortable and you had to hold the shower head to take a shower as it would not fit on the wall fixture.
Good, easy handling at reception desk Bed blanket directly dirty, very little space
Nice breakfast, basic but good, good location. This is the second time that I chose to stay at this hotel for these two reasons. Wi-Fi did not work in the room. Floor and wall was quite thin, could hear people moving around in the corridor and staircase. Sometimes the TV did not have a connection. Depending on the time of the day, the shower was not hot enough for winter. Room was dimly lit.
Location near Gare du Nord.
location and comfortable stay. Tea facility was missing in the room.
The Avalon Hotel is located conveniently with a quick walk to Gare du Nord. The hotel staff was very friendly and stored our bags when when we arrived in Paris early.
close to the train station and metro, very well priced, very good breakfast, again reasonably priced....overall good value.
The breakfast was nice, quirky lift in the building, good location. The picture they advertised on the website was not the room we got when we arrived!! I would not have stayed at this hotel if i knew what our room was going to be like.
The hotel was awful, the lacking basic facilities such as light and the electricity was cut off twice. THe staff were unhelpful during the 2 power cuts I disliked the whole experience
Very cold. No proper duvet and no heating on the 6th floor. Shower is horrible.
breakfast was good for French standards; availability of information about Paris/maps; location next to Gare du Nord; rooms were clean; possibility to pay by debit card (Maestro); quite noisy if you open the window (looking out on Boulevard Magenta); a sort of air freshener was used which was quite annoying;
Comfortable, and great location. Water and M&Ms in the room was nice touch. Spacious bathroom. Cutlery at breakfast was not clean, and croissants didn't seem fresh.
It is very close to gare du nord and has a metro station right next to it. Breakfast is an excellent way to start the day. Were not able to print a voucher for me for Disneyland, which meant a delay in getting in at the resort
The hotel's location is excellent, breakfast very good and well-attended by staff. Everyone was pleasant.
The all you can eat breakfast is a very good idea and adds a lot to your stay in a foreign city.
No hot drinking water
subway access Charge for internet
Availability of free papers and magazines. No dinner service.
Location: Metro (10m), Gare Est (300m), Gare Nord (10 minutes), Quietness, Excellent breakfast No internet connection: 1) Wi Fi did not work. 2) Problems with hotel pc (internet)
Very clean and luxurious Room was nice and clean Breakfast was nice The hotel staff are friendly Hugo at de reception is amazing Nabil in restaurant is nice nd friendly
Position alongside Metro. Adequate breakfast. Limited time for availability of tea/coffee facilities - should be available later in evening for return to hotel after evening out. Non availability of milk very disappointing. No bar facilities. Decor very cold and sterile in public areas. Not enough storage in bedroom area.
Traditional design of the hotel, Cleanliness and comfort of the room, The room was adequate for a family of 4, hospitality of the staff, good position near the the metro station La Chapele and La Gare du Nord The lift is too small, but I know is nothing to do about it.
close to metro station la chapelle and gard de nord. it can be more cheap. the street is full of colors people, it is kind of scary for women and children. don`t seem safe. lift is very small. The rooms were not as nice as they seemed in the photos. when we left our suitcase on the day we left, they just gave us the key and told us to put it in the luggage room. Moreover, when we came to collect it, it was a different receptionist that we hadn't seen before and he just gave us the keys again to go to collect the bag - we could have been anyone!
The room was newly and nice renovated. Staff was O.K. and friendly! Stairway was dull, dark and unfresh. The hotel is located in a less nice area, but O.K. for one night. Message: Stay insíde the hotel after darkness!
We did not like the area although the hotel itself was good
Central for both Gare du Est and Nor. Very comfortable room. Large TV Size of lift. Can only take two people with one case each.
Newly fitted bedroom is nice. Flat screen and the rest. I asked for a quiet bedroom I was accomodated and I was very glad because I have had a nice night sleep. I did not really like the state of the room 202 (bagages). Where it seems like some people have had showers and the rest but the room not clean nor looked after. I did not like the fact that I could not log on the internet wifi network.
Near Gare du Nord station Tiny room. Breakfast 10 Euro's for a piece of ham and cheese. Far too expensive
Hotel was clean. WIFI was in and out.
room was recently renovated; staff very friendly and helpful; quiet room 1) the building is currently being renovated, which at first glance makes the hotel seem a bit dodgy, but it's not! 2) the doors are very thin
location, price smell in rooms, breakfast was poor and hotel is old and not looking good
Hotel reception was helpful. Though pictures shown on website made it looked stylish, actually the real lobby looked pretty disused. The Euro 10 for breakfast was hugely overpriced.
Shower water pressure was good and one staff member at the front desk did her best to be helpful. -There is scaffolding outside the building and the men working were out yelling to each other most of the day and smoking (so the smell came right in my room). -No deadbolts on the door, and the first room they put me in, one of the construction workers walked right in on me. -Breakfast was a big disappointment, many things were out, despite it being an hour before they stopped serving. -The floors in my room were dirty, my black socks were disgusting after walking around just a little. -The Wifi was frustrating, it logged you out nearly anytime you weren't using it and was a pain to get back on. -I could go on and on really. I'm not sure how this place is a 3 star establishment.
proximity to sites and gare du nord. clean, lareg rooms, new design.
location poor value for money. Outrageous internet access charges. However excellent location
Coming out og GDN it was right opposite so convienient to GDEST very suitable for overnight or weekend stays a little cramped for longer stays.
One of the staff members was helpfull - yet others were not. They were loud and noisy and kept me/us waiting while talking with eachother. Low repect for privacy of cleaning staff too Worst was that making reservations a bath was promised to many or all double rooms - yet they only had two baths in the whole hotel. Moreover: terrible work on the elevator for two days, with lots of noise and mudd and sand and dirt. Very small hotel space, no lounge. Over priced in every way. Not to be ever recommended. Only one of the desk staff members was helpfull - yet others were not. They were loud and noisy and kept me/us waiting while talking with eachother. Low repect for privacy of cleaning staff too.
The best was the location Room unbelievably small! The lift produced so much noise that I had to change the room in order to be able to sleep. In general, no value for money.
Very handy to the train station. Staff very helpful
Perfect for "Gare de Nord". Just a minutes walk. Dingy poor room. No Parking at all. In fact access to the road by the hotel is for vans/taxis and buses. So a bit of illegal driving has to take place to drop your cases off.
Rooms were v clean & decent size Staff were lovely, very helpful & very informative None
Location Tiny rooms, corridors dangerously congested with laundry and cleaning equipment, crowded breakfast room, tiny elevator, musty smell in the bathroom
We were given a room with a view of the Sacre Coeur! It was also very convenient for Gare de Nord The trains were very loud, take some ear plugs!
Nothing in particular The shower area and the design of the bathroom is terrible.
Easy access to 2 main stations The room maintenance left a little to be desired - curtain would not close and toilet seat broken. These are simple things that should have been picked up by the management team through their cleaning staff. Not enough to complain about but just took the edge off the stay
quite sleep ---------------
It is not too far away from the Big City No parking available in the Hotel if you go by car. Or it is Paris typical?
resonable px with luggages still 15 min. on foot to station
comfortable bed good water pressure bathroom needs refurbishment, room painting
Cleanliness needs improvement. Rooms are not properly maintained. ventilation
good location, very acceptable room rate, surprisingly quiet room although close to the railway lines
It has to be the location. Very very poor shower in my room ( 509 ) as it fluctuated from cold to hot and at times was very difficult. Maybe it was just my room but the staff did take cognisance and hopefuly it will get better.
The bathtub and the tv in the room, I only stayed one night. The breakfast was too expensive.
Decent but very small room. Nice and clean. Helpful staff. Close to Gare du Nord. Overpriced for the class of hotel and size of room.
Nothing about this hotel was good. In particular some of the staff wer totally unfriendly. Nothing about this hotel was good. I would not recommend it to anyone I know.
The location of the hotel was excellent. The room was in a shabby state. Bathroom on the other hand was clean and nice. The hotel lacked facilities. Overall it was not worth the money. I would not recommend this hotel to families or couples.
Clean modern bathroom. Clean bedding. Very noisy all night. Very cold during the night. Carpet dirty. No tea/coffee making facilities in room.
The staff was very helpful Unfortunately on the first two nights I was bitten by bedbug. I inform the staff about the bedbug and was provided with a different room which was not infected.
Near to Gare de Nord station, good transport links very easy to get to centre of town, even on foot.. Helpful staff, value for money, In general rooms in Parisian hotels can be on the small side, and this hotel was no exception.
Hotel staff is very helpful. Room is a little bit old.
nice staff,good location,
Proximity to Gare du Nord
Location Noise, clearness
I perceived the service that I expected. Excellent! The breakfast could be better if more items to choose.
Poor quality of breakfast for the price. 19 chf for really nothing.
Very near to Gare Du Nord Station No restaurant.
clean room/toilet and bath, complimentary coffee/tea/toiletries The non-smoking room smelled of cigarette smoke! I was there when the weather hit 27 degrees centigrade and the air condition could not be turned on yet!
Excellent location close to train station serving ICEs from Germany. Multiple metro lines available. Lots of choice in restaurants in walking distance. Room was a bit small and a bit noisy.
Location They sold us wifi access for the room but the signal strength was almost non-existent. The only place we could get a workable connection was in reception.
The location is about 100m away from Gare du Nord station which is very convenient for transportation. The room was ready for me to check in although I arrived as early as about 10am, but you need to inform them at earlier time. I'm satisfied for the money I pay, but I will be more happy if can have free internet access, that will be definitely more value added.
The spacious shower !!! Very comfortable indeed. One rarely finds showers in French hotels that measure more than 70x70. Clean room In a busy quarter (noise, neon lights...) of the city, some attention to darkening curtains is due. In the countryside, it is romantic to wake up at 5am in the summer with the sunrise, but in the city, a room should have dark curtains enabling people to sleep.
staff were all very helpful and obliging. the breakfast was excellent , and plentiful. though not in central Paris, we found getting into and around the city very easy. we had the bus, metro, taxi all across the road (about forty paces from the hotel), outside the Gare du Nord. we asked for a quiet room away from the traffic noise. the management did facilitate us as best they could, they gave us a room at the side of the hotel. Unfortunately, the trains passed close to, if not under the hotel, and there was a slight loss of sleep. a very minor irritant indeed.
I am very satisfeid with the staff, ( mid aged man ) when I checked in at 18/11/2010, he provided valued information to us and his service attitude is excellent, (the time ia around 10:pm), when I came from cdg Airport. Overall, their service attitude is moderate. But, part of the staff, they would be bearing some bias on Asian people, they showed cool response. But, if I visit next time, I would choose this hotel for their fair price and location. It is easy for a tourist to travel by Metro from here.
Across to M7 line metro station. Outdate room furniture and carpet. AC was not operating 2 nights I stayed. Force me to open window . With loud street noise, I can't sleep all night. Need to switch to new room next day. This hotel should be a 1 star hotel. 3 star is totally misleading.
