dinner was excellent, the staff were wonderful, an enjoyable time breakfast was a little disappointing, perhaps we were too late down, but the croissants were superb
It is in the middle of nowhere and hard to get to if one is not travelling by car. There is actually no bus that takes you to the hotel and it is quite a walk.
The staff was very cooperative. We were running late, so we called ahead and explained our situation and they left the key out for us. The cost of the breakfast was high.
It was quiet, and very clean with good bed, important for resting well. Seemed to have good restaurant attached too. Friendly staff.
I didn't like the meal I had at the hotel.
Kind staff. We didn't like the sheets and the towels et the hotel, they looked old and weren't comfortable.
We visited the local ski slopes, went to chaux de fond on the train and spent time exploring Neuchatel - there is a two hour mapped walk around the town The hotel was excellent and the staff were very helpful. The hotel is a little off the beaten track and takes 15 minutes to walk to nearest bus stop - we didnt have a problem with it and there is a daily ski bus from the bus stop too. The staff picked us up and dropped us off with our cases.
The hotel staff were helpful and very accommodating. The hotel itself is located about 15 mins outside of Neuchatel so it is very convenient to seeing the countryside and also for a city day trip. The breakfast was barely that. Breakfast was bread and cereal. Coffee was brought to the table. There was no yogurt or even fruit available. Even though the breakfast was included in the room charge, the bill reflected that the breakfast was 15CHF per person which it was definately not worth. If there were no breakfast and the room were less expensive, it would have been much more worth the price.
It was nicely situated, easy to get to once we figured out the directions. We loved the view of the alps. The beds were not comfortable, the springs were so close to the surface of the bed. There were only 2 outlets in the room. There were no amenities, we're used to coffee pots at that price, and a hair dryer. The TV was small and poorly situated, probably because of the small size of the room.
Nice location, convenient for Neuchatel Small television at a high level
- small but very nicely decorated rooms - nice owners - nice breakfast - free parking available
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The location, just outside Neuchatel was great. The breakfast was very ordinary, and not really worth the extra. Being in Switzerland, I sort of hoped for something like Bircher Meusli rather than Kellogs fun packs, but they did supply local cheese. The bread was good too.
Location of hotel quiet set in quaint square with restaurants & areas to walk. Very friendly relaxed service
the hotel itsself was really beautiful,a family run business at the beautiful village of hauterive!rooms, decoration and breakfast were all great!
nice breakfast in a nice room / charming village / very good gastronomic restaurant at the opposite of the hotel old styled bedroom, old bathroom
Charming hotel, very friendly staff and well appointed rooms. As a solo traveller I appreciated such a small touch as having a book shelf in my room with books in many langauges to help pass my time. B/f was quite basic, by 9.45 all the cheese was gone. As it was an additional charge I felt there could have been more provided.
great staff, very polite, charming location no hairdryer
Hotel staff were very friendly and hospitable. The ceiling above the shower was very low. We needed to sit while taking a shower. not very prctical.
Did not like the location No service for meals and the breakfast was over priced for what they gave
No temperature control for the room heating
Very close to the centre of town and train station which was a plus
Great location - next to Fribourg Centre, train station, city center and old town. Great breakfast. Good/friendly staff to help you. The room was small and space was limited (what do you expect though in EU)
Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were spacious and clean. breakfast was good. Hotel is located next to one nightclub and above another. noise wasn't too bad but may cause problems for light sleepers. Parking was secure but the card system had problems when we stayed meaning that we couldn't get out and missed a pre-arranged event. Paying to park at a hotel I feel is inappropriate and designed to wring as much money out of you as possible. At least they could hide it in amongst the room charge if they need the money that badly.
The convenience of its location close to the railway station & shopping centre, - we were using public transport, and only staying one night. The hotel was generally rather shabby & "worse for wear" - in need of refurbishment. Fortunately the Irish Pub next door was quiet - make sure you get a room on the opposite side, overlooking the river.
Lack of air conditioning is unacceptable
A bit old furniture, expensive wifi (!), paid parking (if you are lucky and park in front of the hotel then 10 CHF per day but if not, you have to park in a double expensive public parking in the underground garage.
we are satisfied with every thing of the hotel, especially the splendid breakfast.
Location is right next to the old town. Staff is friendly and helpful. Room was large and with a great view from the top floor. We asked for and were given a quiet room. The restaurant is closed on weekends, as are most in the town.
Location next to the railway station - easy access. Cleanness and friendliness
Very kind and helpful restaurant staff. I was twenty four hours in this hotel, and the same litter I saw in the hallways on my arrival was still there when I checked out. Scruffy looking kitchen and cleaning staff smoking outside the hotel, did nothing to add to the ambiance. The room was tatty and needed renovation. Terrible bedside lights that flood the entire room with glaring light. Old worn-out mattresses made for a very uncomfortable night. Nice staff overall, but with all the many problems, I would not stay again at this very overpriced and poorly managed hotel.
Location in Neuchatel is excellent with perfect views of the lake. Very convenient to the train station. Staff extremely helpful and polite The room was extremely small. Not that I really needed more space, I guess I was just surprised when I entered and the room had a tiny single bed in a room only slightly wider. It turned out to be ok and very comfortable.. just not what I expected especially for the price. It definitely was not a double room as booked!
the kindness of the personnel
It was vey conveniently located next to the railway station so no need to use a car. Staff were friendly and helpful Decor seemed a bit old in the room, though this was not really a big problem
The room was very clean and had a nice bathroom. The staff was very friendly and helpful, even when I had special requests. The location was perfect! I wish the room had been larger or had a view.
The View very noisy from the bar until 2:30 AM
Excellent hotel with very good service. Staff is very helpful and courteous. Location is very convenient, very close to downtown and train station. I will definitely use this hotel in my next trip.
Convenient for for our trip! Perhaps the breakfast offered could have had more variey!
The location was good. Staff was very helpful and accomodating. Would be great to either have fridge in room or ice machine in hallway with an ice bucket.
Hospitality of the hotel's staff, excellent location, reasonable price
Convenient position. Parking concession. Access.
The staff was exceptionally helpful (and thankfully, for us, they spoke English!). Great location right on the lake, and close to shops/restaurants.
Very good location, closed to many seeing points. As per guide by the hotel, I paid SFr 15 for 3 hour wireless internet access. Provider was Swiss Telecom. But, signal was too weak anypwere anytime in the hotel. Succesful access time was only a few minutes. I just wasted money.
I liked the excellent central location on the lakeside and in the city centre.Good buffet breakfast and excellent restaurant for pasta/pizza and beers. Nice hot shower in bedroom. Helpful bi-lingual staff
Cold tiled floor, no carpet, no house slippers
Helpfu lstaff Room a bit bare
The rooms were always clean, we had clean towels everyday/ It did not have AC and was a bit frustrating as one of the days we stayed there was very hot.
The room was quaint. The size was comfortable and the room itself was very clean. I'd say that the staff, in general, is very rude. Not one person smiles or greets you pleasantly - it always feels like youre bothering them. Also, it must be said that when we booked the room for 1 night in the afternoon, the front desk clerk said the room (119 SFr) would include breakfast for us. We asked where, and she showed us. The next morning, we came downstairs and ate the poor breakfast (1 type of cheese, 1 unidentified salami, hard-boiled eggs, 2 yogurts, croisant. This is breakfast). When we checked out soon after, another front desk clerk asked if we had breakfast. We said yes, and our bill jumped up to 150 SFr.! We explained that the meal was included, and they claimed it isn't, extremely rude and unapologetic. Never again.
Parking was free Staff was unfriendly. Room was okay at best. Internet was terribly expensive. Nothing around the hotel.
Spacious room. Quite old hotel. Not very clean room. No air condition.
Very nice hotel. They offer freshest food, and organic food, since they have their ranch and farm. Of course the food served in the hotel is a little bit expensive, but in Switzerland, all food are expensive, no matter where you go, compared with other European countries. Also, it is an excellent place if you travel with kids, they offer extra bed for kids if they found you travel with kids. My son really enjoy what he found in the ranch and farm, very close to the nature, good for him. Maybe the hotel want people stay with only for relaxation, so they do not have TV in the room. If they can offer WIFI or wireless, it could be better.
Restaurant is grossly overpriced; chf28 for a bowl of pasta with pesto? They have you over a barrel as the hotel is in the country. Hotel is overpriced for what it is.
Very confortable room, amazing place, good food, english speackers If I didnt have called to the hotel about 10:30 p.m from the road (Bern to Neuchatel) I probably would get lost. I arrived at 2 am. On the other hand, when I called, I find an well prepared man, who gave-me correct instructions.
Stunning scenery, comfortable rooms, quite good to have no television and bookshelves dotted around the place. Everybody read! The proximity of the farm was a big plus with the children. The beds are very low. When I enquired, re. my elderly mother possibly wanting to come, I was told it was possible to raise beds. Maybe this should be advertised in the rooms. One member of our party with 2 new hips really appreciated a raised bed the second and third nights.
Marvelous nature, eco houses and ecofood plus incredible views of mountains
Location is fantastic. Food expensive and disappointing. Wrong meal provided, badly cooked. No hot water in suite. After complaints it was suggested we go across the car park to a vacant room and use the bathroom there. Some windows in room did not have curtains or shutters.
nice view breakfast
A friendly, comfortable ambiance with a great view to the Neuchatel lake and the Alps. A very nice room with carefully chosen decoration and furnitures. A delicious buffet breakfast with home-made dishes, that was even served till 11am!
I liked the design of the rooms very much, simple and peaceful. We found the food at dinner very bland.
It was a very quiet room in a small town. We stayed in the seperate building in a double room with a shower. The rooms were very simple, it was nearly like staying in a cabin which was neat. It was easy to drive to surrounding cities during the day. Parking at the hotel was free and not a problem to find a space. The food in the restaurant was good but expensive (we ate there one night). The breakfast was good with a selection of the usual fare. The store in the lobby has some neat bio products. The bed was very hard. There also was no tv, which some in my party were dissapointed about.
I was with my male colleague and we share the room, but the beds where together (It was a double bed). so its good to put an option on the website to chose which kind of room we want, double room with separate beds or double room with big bed (2 bed together).
The staff was extremely friendly and accomodating to our requests. It made our experience delightful and we will be coming back each year. Our compliments to Miguel in the restaurant and Laura at the front desk. We will highly recommend this hotel to our friends and look forward to returning next year.
I appreciated the kins and efficient service, the clean and cossy room and the nice eating places in it The room was slightly small.
Hotel staff is outstanding!!
It was close to where I had a meeting . Location is important. The resteurant is expensive
The staff were very welcoming and at dinner the waiting staff quite charming, efficient and helpful. Great cooking too and don't miss dessert ! No air conditioning in the bedroom; the bath is narrow and I'm not wide !!
We had dinner at the Brasserie, which was outstanding. Both the food and service far exceeded our expectations.
The food was superb. The breakfast buffet was well done and had a nice variety. The surrounding garden and proximity to all points of interest (city, Thermal spa, lake, nature trail) including public transportation was ideal. Show case windows (watches, etc.) were a nice added feature. Noise from private party and other guests.
The hotel is nicely situated in a garden. It is possible to play golf, tennis and table tennis there. The hotel has a very nice spa/wellness facility with sauna, hammam and jacuzzi. The restaurant is quite nice as well. A combination for a very relaxing and agreeable week-end.
Extremely poor breakfast, considering the room rate!!
Very clean, comfortable and large single room. Quiet location. Great breakfast.
My room was available much before the published check in time. All areas of the hotel are clean and tidy. Room looked newly renovated. The hotel is modern in apperance. Breakfast is basic but plentiful
Close to town centre and lake
The hotel was located very close to lake neuchatel in a quieter part is town a few minutes walk from the centre Like the rest of the area the price was high for what you got compared to UK prices
Large, clean rooms. Good breakfast. Cool vibe.
The hotel is situated from one side, close to beutiful lake, from other side is easy to go to from the railway station (funicular line station is about 60 m). The hotel has a good style of design. The reception hall is not large enough. But for the 3 stars hotel it's good.
My room on the top floor was spacious and quiet, with lovely views from the dormer windows of mountains and sea. The staff was pleasant and friendly, the atmosphere was comfortably low-key, and the location was convenient to the town centre (on foot or by tram) but far enough away to avoid the noise. Unfortunately, I arrived during an unusual heat wave, and even with a rotating floor fan running non-stop, the un-air-conditioned space was so stultifyingly hot that it was all but unbearable, even at night ... especially as a sign tacked to the window advised against opening it with the lights on because of mosquitoes. The room had few amenities and no safe. The bathroom sink also was very slow to drain and needed unclogging.
It was a short walk from the funicular that takes you to the train station. The buffet breakfast was included in the room rate and it was very good.
Friendly staff. I had a problem with a noise in the bathroom, and I could directly change rooms.
Good location (the lake, the funicular are two minutes walking), good taste design.
rstaurant service was not so friendly
Nice staff Great site Romantic room design One of the most beautiful hotels in the Europe
Unique design and room facilities, wonderful lake side location, the only suite hotel above water in Europe, superb food and wines, an experience not to be missed Some aging wooden planks along the access to the lake side suites do no longer match the luxury resort.
Service, staff and clenliness were excellent. The room could have been a little cooler.
Room facilities and view
the friendliness off the staff NA
the wonderfull setting off the small appartments on the water, the nice service and attention also for us as a family
Very relaxing, felt as though we were on holiday somewhere exotic even though we were within a stone's throw from Neuchatel, the restaurant was excellent as was the service, the facilities provided in the room were of a very high standard and they had thought of everything. We actually asked to upgrade to a Lake Pavillion room once we were there. The heating system was on full and could not be turned off -- the only comfortable way to sleep was to have the main window wide open all night. It was also too expensive -- only affordable on the basis that this was a one-off and we would not go back due to the cost.
The style and layout of the rooms is first class, add to that real privacy and the feeling of sitting on the lake/water Unfortunately it is a disease that Hotels insist on execcive charges for mini bar (standard items) and the price for a continental breakfast. We regularly stay at another 5 star hotel in Switzerland where the mini bar & breakfast are all part of accom which is overall less that the Palafitte.
Great location on the lake with decks right out over the lake There was not much choice for food in the area
Everything is quite comfortable, very calm, clean, the parking place is close to the hotel.
Large room. Excellent location. It was advertised as having wiFi. But we did not know that we needed a code . When we got back to our room at 10 PM, the front desk was not staffed.
nice and clean rooms there was no cot bed available
location, cleaniness, frinedly staff (though they could only communicate in French)
Very centrally located. Nice and clean. Rooms on the (pedestrian) street may be a bit noisy in the evening if Fribourg wins a sport match!
Good location. A bit noisy from the street.
The kitchenette appliances were good. The room had a lot storage space. The location was good, not too far from the rail station. The staff were friendly but spoke only French, so communication was not easy. The kitchenette had no utensils, so the good appliances were almost useless. Cleaning was not done all days.
location is good, room is good the oven and stove is not working, and there isn't any utensils other than a kettle and 2 cups and saucer and teaspoon
The location in the center of Fribourg is very nice. The reception was friendly. A hotel with a disco downstairs is not the ideal combination, certainly not on a Friday evening. There is a lot of noise from downstairs and from the street.
Hotel was very good for the price we paid. Only our room was located at the front side on the first floor. We had a lot of noice from the street. It was not possible to sleep with the window open.
Welcoming and friendly staff. Room clean, good continental breakfast. Hotel few minutes walk from the town and Lake.
The size of the room and the decor. Very quiet.
Very comfortable room. Good breakfast. Very pleasant people.
The bed was good and comfortable
Nice ambience, polite & eager to help staff with English, German, French language knowledge, cozy rooms, quiet rooms with a view in the garden. Free Wireless internet in rooms/reception/cafeteria was also a good feature. Everything went smoothly during our stay (3 nights).
Proximity to town centre. No hotel parking, or preferred rates in adjacent public car park.
Friendly staff & the best coffee I've tasted in a long time!
It was a lovely small hotel, great staff, clean, comfortable spacious, good breakfast, great coffee, nice patio, close to everything. No
A great hotel in the old town of Neuchatel. Lovely friendly and helpful staff who couldn't do enough for us. Rooms were nicely designed, spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. The buffet continental breakfast was nice, plentiful and pretty reasonable. With the hotel just as short walk into town and from there the lake, I would stay here again or recommend it to friends.
Everything we had nothing to complain about
Was not warned that hotel was a building site
The hotel staff was helpful and friendly, my room was clean and comfortable and the location was close to the train station and the city center of Nuechatel.
The hotel is very elegant and very well located at the seaside of Neuchatel. The rooms with view on the lake are great. No.
Very little - it is being renovated. The location is convenient for the town centre. The room had just been decorated smelled heavily of paint, the A/C had been removed, in August! The corridors were hung with bare wires and light bulbs. The wires almost blocked the corridor, a fire hazard. The stairs were blocked because of painting, fire hazard! Workmen's tools were left in the corridor. The building was covered in scaffolding incl. outside the window - security hazard. The staff said sorry - so what?
Lakeside position, Reception staff, general ambience Reception although given assurance that due to my late arrival the kitchen would be able to supply something to eat, this was countermanded by the extremely abrupt Head Waiter. The extraordinary arrangment was made on my behalf by the excellent Receptioist but I was assured by the head waiter he was the controller of the kitchen and not the chef de cuisine!
The reception staff were all attentive and helpful and spoke good English. The design was pleasing and interesting. The lakeside view from our room was lovely. In retrospect, I think it ought to have been pointed out that our booking was inclusive of breakfast.
Location. Memories. Very helpful at front desk.- gave us an upgrade when they couldn't find our reservation Arrived to find no reservation tho we had a Booking.com confirmation and we were not pleased. Hotel did respond well.
The location was excellent. The staff very friendly and the room very comfortable. The breakfast was huge and varied, and the weekend offer made the place very affordable.
Liked its good location No gym. One of the reasons why I booked. Breakfast was very poor. No fruit apart from kiwifruit. Not appealing. Room was suppose to be a superior room that could sleep 4. I think you would have to be childen or dwarves. There was no room
Easy to find from the motorway, easy to get to centre of old Fribourg. Carpets in the room were quite stained, stair carpets worn out
I asked why the air conditioning wasn't working. I was told it was ok only to find out that they didn't have air con! In temperatures of 30 degrees plus and in a city, this would have been a prerequisite
Staff attentive, quite comfortable rooms. It's a long walk to the center of town.
I was woken up at 01,15 by the front desk for a phonecall which was not for me. I am sure they have a names list of all guest, so this mistake should not happen. Although my room was next to the reception/bar and it was very noisy.
Almost everything; the welcome fromthe staff, the position, the building and its decor, the room were all wonderful. We also had a beautiful meal there in the evening with imaginatively cooked local products and excellent wine list. we would love to go again sometime. The weather!!!!!!!!!!!
I was close to the business I had to do in town. For the price, this hotel needs to be updated.
location to noisy because of the night club located just outside of our window.Didn,t get much sleep.
Breakfast was very good, with a nice selection of cheeses, hams and fruits. Room service was very helpful.
Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Information regarding restaurant and room service unclear, would have liked to use both but never discovered if open/available. Front bedrooms noisy due to traffic.
This is a reasonably priced hotel with welcoming and helpful staff. They offer an excellent breakfast and comfortable rooms. We would certainly consider staying here again. Unfortunately the hotel frontage is on the main thoroughfare for traffic passing through the town. Traffic noise at night is a bit of the problem.
Nice location, great staff and nice rooms. Not enough Parkingplace
The Hotel Staff were very nice and the room I had was excellent, in both cleanliness and facilities. I experienced no problems with parking (public parkings available) and enjoyed the fact to do so for only 10 chf per day (tickets available at reception). All in all a very positive experience. Definitely recommendable.
Good value for a comfortable, clean hotel in the old town - easy to get to from the station (either 5 minutes by bus or a 10 minute walk). Fribourg is a good central location for exploring western Switzerland, being only 20 mins. from Bern and 40 mins. from Lausanne by train. Really clean, with comfortable beds, excellent sound-proofing (I heard nothing from other rooms) and really friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast also very good. A minor issue: no air con in the rooms - this did not affect me but might be an issue for some people in the summer.
Good breakfast as for the simple buffet. Good place in city center. Smell in our room was not so nice. As we stayed on Fri night, it was quite noisy outside around 4am when the clubs closed.
The hotel is directly opposite the cathedral, who's clock chimes every quarter of an hour all through the night. Even with the windows closed, there was enough noise to keep me awake until 4:30 am
Very close to the old city and center of the town the service is good and the personal really nice.
The hotel is located close to a medieval village. It's like an outdoor museum, 15th century buildings and walls from the 12th century, and the Castle at the end that is from the 13th century, with flower boxes everywhere.
The services and the restaurant(breakfast and bar) were excellent. It was situated at a good stating point for excursions in the city no
