Mirepoix is a beautiful unspoiled historic town. The hotel is full of character and the themed rooms are just beautiful.
Interesting old building, well renovated. Upstairs room overlooking the square was hot and lacked air conditioning. There was loud noise from the square until late at night both the nights that we were there. Corridors and stairs did not appear to have been cleaned in some time.
We chose to stay in La Maison Des Consuls because it is such a stunningly interesting old building in a small town that is full of history. The rooms were comfortable and bathrooms excellent
an excellent position in a beautiful historic small town - one buys merely a room - it is not an hotel in the sense of personal service no air conditioning
Historic building filled with character, Mirepoix itself is a charming location Twin beds with rather squishy mattresses!
Nice new but old-fashioned decor. In the room the beadspread, chair covers, armchair cover, little table cloth and curtains were all of the same material. Madame was very helpful with out enquiries. Reception by Monsieur on the first night was a bit dour. We asked if he could recommend a restaurant (the restaurant in the hotel being closed that evening). He replied "no". In fact we had a great meal on the main square a few doors away.
value for money and very convenient for centre of town
The family that owns and runs the hotel were always very friendly and helpful. The WiFi internet connection worked very well in our room. Mirepoix is a good centre for touring that area, and the town is pleasant, with a large market on Monday mornings. It rained. Not the fault of the hotel.
Staff v. helpful and obliging. Evening dinners excellent either dining inside or in the wonderful courtyard area. You should sample the cheese board, especially the house cheese. Decorations tired, but rooms totally adequate, and hotel situated in quiet side road of delightful Mirepoix Town. Excellent value for money!
The food was excellent and the hotel had a lot of character stairs only - had to take our two big suitcases up a turning staircase - nolift
Excellent Meals and a very good choice
Spacious, clean room, excellent bathroom, recently renovated. Very professional dining service with lovely food. Disappointing breakfast especially the croissants.
The bedroom was relatively spacious and most comfortable with good air conditioning and an excellent bathroom (with a bath and a good shower). Breakfast was simple but good with delicious home-made preserves. Lunch was very good and the set menus represent excellent value for money. The hotel has a sizeable car park and is very near the centre of Mirepoix. Altogether a very good two star hotel. We shall definitely stay again. Nothing
It was a good hotel in a lovely town and if we go back to that area of France we would be happy to use the hotel again. Everything was fine.
The hotel room was very spacious and clean. The location was very accessible for the centre of Mirepoix.
great location, at edge of medieval village of Mirepoix. Great value, good restaurant, comfortable and clean room.
Nice little hotel with good location. Easy to park. Spacious room.
The staff were friendly, the restaurant was fantastic and it was near enough to the town about a 3 minute walk whilst not being right in the middle which I imagine could be a bit disturbing on a market day for instance.
Spacious rooms; free internet access; good restaurant; helpful staff.
Comfortable bed & room. Good continental breakfast & morning staff excellent.. Very bad management, unable to delegate - for example waitresses helping behind bar had to ask prices.
Friendly staff and clean, warm room. Lots of open space around the hotel and parking very easy. Free Internet worked well. Most suitable for people with own transport travelling on a budget. The hotel was very hard to find as the address was vague and signage inadequate. It took us 1.5 hours to find it and we had to seek assistance from locals. The room was very small but there were five of us, so for two people it might be fine in that respect.
location and food were good also it was a very peaceful night sleep after driving all day. the owner was very helpful and pleasant nothing
Our host was very friendly and made use feel at home in Auberge Du Balestie. Rooms were basic but sufficient and also homly furnished. Surroundings are beautiful.
Charmingly managed by English owners. Beautiful location in countryside on GR footpaths overlooking lake. Good wildlife area : birds, flowers, butterflies. Management wildife friendly. Short distance from historic and beautiful Mirepoix, Limited but interesting menu.
Owners extremely friendly and helpful The view and stunning surroundings with easy access to town Interior a little characterless and basic which did not reflect the farmhouse appearance of the outside
Excellent hosts and food & wine of a very good standard. A friendly and relaxed atmosphere
The Hotel owners were excellent! We have 2 small but lively children but this did not worry them and they could not do enough for us. A pleasure to deal with when compared to some of the bigger Hotels who could take a leaf out of this couples book on hospitality and how to treat their guests. The Hotel itself was ideal for us, the room was spacious and the food beautiful. The surrounding area was out of this world and the Hotel could not be in a better setting. All in all, one of the best hotels we have stayed at either in the UK, France or other. Nothing.
We could not have wished for a more friendly & accomodating welcome than the one we received from the Auberge owners David & Sylvia - they went out of their way to ensure we were happy with our room - the catering was first class which was confirmed by the many local french people who used the restaurant for dining out
Fantastic area, good value for money, friendly lovely owners
The hotel was great and had all amenities we needed and the owners were wonderful - extremely helpful. The scenery and wildlife around the hotel was also great
Beautiful to be in the countryuside, but close to Mirepoix. Very clean rooms and very comfortable. Superb value for money.
The food was good but the hotel room was terrible and I would never consider staying here again. The room was very poor, stained carpet, the tiles the in bathroom were cracked and dirty, and the curtain at the window was hanging off the rail. Really terrible standard. Have stayed at many Logis hotels and never experienced anything like this before.
Staff were friendly and cheerful. Room was cold and shabby. Inadequate space for easy use of toilet. Wash hand basin did not function correctly.
Rooms were dingy. Carpet was dirty and worn. Waiters were a little impatient. Beef was overcooked.
In centre of town. Very basic hotel but for the price very good value. The dinner we had in hotel was very good. No
Nothing. The corridors of the hotel were dark and dingy, with brushes and mops left in the hall, and firedoors to the carpark propped open. The room smelt awful, and the bed was low and uncomfortable. The carpet was stained. There was no air-conditioning, causing us to sleep with the window open on to a noisy alley. We didn't even contemplate eating at the hotel. A thoroughly disappointing experience.
Staff friendly. Dining-room attractive, and the food excellent. Service good. Secure and easy parking in an enclosed garage, but charged for! Bedrooms needed updating, but adequate for an overnight stop.
We liked being able to walk to the Canal du Midi easily. We did not like the food unfortunately
Clean and friendly, good location. The website did not mention the ongoing refurbishment.
Not much, though the staff were friendly and the location was good for us as bike travellers wanting somewhere in the town centre to stay. It had a dated feel about it and a definite musty smell. We declined both the evening meal and breakfast.
Though quite old the hotel was in reasonable order, clean and quiet The breakfast was a little below the standard we normally experience in France I personally prefer savoury; eggs, cold meats, cheeses(we usually book through Brittany Ferries about 12 different hotels in France so far; the local Hotel du Canal being one; each we have found to provide comprehensive breakfasts)
