My favorite in Monterey. The entire staff is delightful and made us feel welcome. Karen made our stay perfect. We did not turn on the TV; Sit in the window seat over the ocean, light the fire, and enjoy. Everything is perfect. The only suggestion? A hot tub on the roof among the beautiful potted plants would be ideal.
Love, Love, Love the location! Staff is excellent. Appreciate the daily delivery of complimentary breakfast to the room. Room 308 is great. Over heard other guests complain of smoky smell in their room coming from unused fireplace. We didn't experience that.
I loved the promptness of front desk to my every request.
I enjoyed the room. It had a fireplace, it was right on Cannery Row and was right on the ocean. It was a lovely old building with lots of character and charm. lots of birds throughout the night. Next time I would not sleep with the windows open like I did this time.
Room was a little cramped.
Having a sauna & fireplace in our room! Help and friendliness of the staff The bathroom was cleaned good enough when we returned from an outing.
The fireplace was amazing. The service was top notch and they seemed to really care about the people. A bottle of wine was placed in our room when we were out because they overheard us say we were on our honeymoon. The bed was the best I've ever slept on in a hotel and the pillows were like little clouds. Nothing this place was wonderful
Relaxed friendly luxury atmosphere.
Views of the sea and wildlife. My wife adored the room decor Smoke from other peoples fires did come into our room, but not much of an issue. Didn't like paying for internet- most places this is now free. I also found out that we paid quite a bit more for our room than others staying at the same time (I was upstairs waiting for the lift when the receptionist was calling someone to advise that a guest was disputing how much they were billed (the amount was considerably less than we were paying))
Personal attention that was given to me.
Good location , nice courtyard.... Thought the upgrade to "Ocean view" room was a bad joke. Luxurious Frette Bedlinens don't mean much if the pillowcases are so worn that they had holes in them...Sad for the price............
newly remodeled. rooms nicely decorated.
For me, the Asian decor was extremely appealing and relaxing. The landscaping was beautiful and well maintained. I appreciated the friendliness and helpfulness of the Hotel staff. It was an enjoyable experience and I would love to return again in the future.
Beautiful rooms! The bed and sheets were amazing and the room was immaculate. The soaps and shampoos were very high quality. This hotel is in a very peaceful street. I slept like a baby. The fireplace was lovely too. At night, the courtyard is lit up with little torches so it's quite pretty. Theresa, the manager, was incredibly kind and helpful. The lobby was a little spartan, so I was afraid the rooms would be too. They were NOT.
The room was comfortable and we couldn't help falling asleep in the bed - it was quiet and the breakfast was perfect! Very relaxing!
Location (a few blocks off Ocean Ave.) and the room renovations. Outside of the hotel was clearly a motel that got upgraded. Nice enough but not for $300-$600 / night.
The rooms were very nice and kept well. Staff was very responsive. The gardens were beautiful. Overall, the ambiance made for a very relaxing time while at the hotel.
Very comfortable and peaceful. Theme and decor is asian, very tastefully and thoroughly done inside and out. Some clever amenities like motion-sensor nightlight in the bathroom. Continental breakfast was good, but not exceptional. Very clean and well-maintained hotel. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Short walk to Ocean Blvd with its art galleries, shops and restaurants.
The decor of the room was unusual and outstanding. The staff was quite accomodating.
While we thought we rec'd a decent deal at $360 for a single night for a deluxe king room, a day before our trip i noticed a similar king room for $100 less. Figuring i would just get a better room with a view, i was disappointed to learn that the room had no view and just a gas fireplace. I mentioned the discrepancy in the rates, but they only suggested that we should have booked directly instead and called in first to verify the rates and the available rooms.
We were only there for one night and were extremely impressed and satisfied by the treatment we received.Immediately we were made to feel welcome and on asking were given great recommendations on restaurants etc in Carmel. There isn't any doubt that we will revisit when next in Carmel.
Beautiful Hotel, great location, attentive staff, great attention to even the smallest details. Lovely roof terrace, and nice romantic atmosphere. No
very cleanï¼ very comfortableï¼ good environment! Nothing!!
Location Bed was too soft
It was right in downtown Carmel; walk to everything. The Inn was beautiful and the room was spectacular. No real negatives; the patios overlook the parking lot however. A beautiful garden setting would have made it perfect. But the rooms were convenient to the car!
Great rooms and staff, great location, very quiet and relaxing, and close to everything in Carmel.
Breakfast offered was actually more like a continental breakfast in a bag.
We stayed at the Wayside Inn two nights and were seriously looking forward to our trip to Carmel. When we arrived, the rooms were filled with mosquitoes as if the front door or windows had been left open. We spent 30 minutes ridding the rooms of the mosquitoes. We experienced unusually noisy neighbors next door and above us who continued their antics until 1:00AM. We realize that the Wayside Inn is limited in what they can do about guests, however we will definitely see the signs the next time we find mosquitoes in the rooms, to find another Inn. The young lady at the front desk was seemingly inconvenienced by our checkout. This was not a pleasant experience. We will be staying at another location on our next trip to Carmel.
Breakfast brought to room, quiet, comfortable bed, walking distance to shopping and restaurants Very small parking lot, no microwave in room
My wife and I needed time away from the hustle and bustle of our week and decided to book one night at the Wayside Inn in Carmel. We had seen the inn on a previous visit to Carmel and decided to book the room. We booked a suite with two double beds, living room, kitchen and fireplace. The room was beautifully and tastefully arranged and decorated. No detail was missed and we were treated like royalty by the staff in the office. The suite was extremely clean and the comfort level from 1-10 (10 being the best) was a 10. It was heaven falling into the oversized plush bedding. We slept like babies and had a refreshing nights rest. We highly recommend this inn and we will be rebooking another mini-vacation very soon!
It was great, I suggesth the following Fireplace should work without issue Breakfast wast good but long time to replenish Baked goods takes like bis bisquick See above
Spacious room, amenities like drinks and snacks in the afternoon, good breakfast, quiet location but close to the city centre. Parking situation a bit obsolete.
we stayed there a year ago and liked the location, pleasant color of the room, the view outside of our room, the quietness and being close to the ocean walk. So we decided to return and found everything being just as nice. There is nothing we found not to our liking. Thank you!
The hotel is very simple and the continental breakfast means muffins and coffee. Definetely not a 3 stars.
The maintenance manager was nice, helpful. One of the older hosts was nice. The girl checking in was a smartie. And they never opened the continental breakfast until 8AM. So, the three days I attended my conference that started at 8AM in Monterey, I missed breakfast. !! I deserve a discount for no breakfast access for three days. Who does this? Every other inn around there starts at 6 AM! The room was dated. comfortable bed. The pool not heated, which precludes it's use. the tile in hot tub cracked and missing! And I paid more than was quoted.
the room is very beautiful and comfort. The front desk is very helpful. My families love this place very much!
one room had furniture outside in the parking lot waiting for the carpet to dry, yet we were given key and told it was ready. we were not assigned another room in the nearly empty complex and had to wait them out.No black out curtains with bright outside light making room like day time all night long, not good for sleeping. No hot water in the am for a shower, nor hot water in the sink. unconconcered and rude young woman at front desk. will not go back. mostly because of the nasty girl at the desk. told me next time i could go out at night and unscrew the bulb if the light bothered me. Couldnt explain the lack of appropiate curtains. probably out in the parking lot with the other furniture
Badly stained carpet, a/c ventilation grill hadn't seen a brush or duster in years, it was "furry" with dust/dirt.
Beautiful décor is the icing on the cake for this newly remodeled hotel. Tiled bathrooms and pillow top mattresses combined with spacious closets and effective kitchenettes created a down-home luxurious feeling. Easily accessible from the parking lot, the room's manually locked doors allowed you to enter your home-away from home. In addition to all the typical amenities of vending and Wi-Fi, the beautifully tailored grounds were punctuated by a pool, Jacuzzi and fire pit. This affordable hotel had a feeling of opulence that doesn't break the bank. That I had to leave!
Clean and quiet location. Easy access to all the area offers. Good value for money No laundry
We stayed in the delux queen cottage and it was perfect! Newly remodeled, spacious, private and quiet with a kitchenette. The cottages don't share walls and have lovely views of landscaping and trees. Wish we would have stayed longer, we will be back.
The location bathroom needs updating, tiny thin shelf along the wall was the only space to put things, need a surround around the sink.Room cluttered with pictures and two fake flower pots. Not sure why a room near the sea has to have the 'italian countryside' look.It would make the rooms appear more spacious if the clutter was gone &colour scheme reflected sea side theme.?need for outside light on all night.
The hotel was very clean and quiet. The staff was very helpful.
I thought the hotel was in a great location, you could actually hear the ocean waves at night, and a pretty good price for the area. It was a very quiet location too.
