Great location. Pleasant rooms. Not modern. But well maintained with character. Close to old part of town with it's restaurants and shops No
close to the citycentre and friendly staff
It's situated in a great location in the city center, very close to the old part of the city. Offers great comfort.
Well located near downtonwn. Huge king bed and pretty clean It looked too old for being refurbished in 1995. It was too expensive for the quality
Facilities, Location. Room stank of smoke despie assurances it was anon smokeing room.
Staff was very helpful in giving us help finding places. Rooms were immaculately clean and the lobby was very comfortable and inviting.Bathrooms were very spacious and had all the needed amenities.
it is in the center of ourense though it was very clean, infrastructure a bit old and the room had an "old man smell". I couldnt adjust temperature either but there was an extra blanket
Great location near the old town
We arrived late and were pleased to be able to have a meal at 22.30. Lovely rural location, clean modern hotel. Difficult to find it, had to ask locals for directions.
An amazing experience in the uttermost roughness of Spain. All staff was very welcoming and responsible. a true lost jewl... ... being lost the problem. If you are not a thermal spa afficionado there are good choices closer than this, specially in chaves. And the minute tv was not working properly. Another complaint is the fact that for BOOKING.com packages there aren't breakfast-included ones.
I would like to say, that during our stay in Gran Hotel Ourense San Martin we have met with very professional behavior hotels staff. No
Very clean, spacious room. No tobacco smell. Excellent breakfast buffet. Staff was very courteous. Just a minor problem with the toilet flush.
rooms a good size, good shower, nice breakfast, good location paying for car parking. shower gel not replaced each day, no coffee/tea making facilities
A good value clean and functional hotel close to the centre of the city. Secure garage facilities as I was on a motorbike with my partner (garage with fee, but it's worth it). No
Breakfast was good if a little pricey..
The location Not a 4 stars service at all, rather 3 or 2 stars
huge swimming pool, good buffet breakfast, large bedrooms, and very easy access from the old historic town if you have a car (always straight on) even if it's outside the city. There were dogs barking all night long during the 4 nights we spent in the hotel. Do not book in this hotel if you have a light sleep (noisy). It seems there is a sort of non authorized kennel in the surroundings of this hotel.
I left something back and the right care was taken. Even knowing we are non-Spanish speakers there is no much effort (empathy) to try to understand our needs
staff were very helpfull, hotel very clean but a bit noisy in the evening, i would come to this hotel again price of breakfast it was way too much
Easy access (driving) to Ourense and its historic quarter. Private parking, plenty of it, shaded. Friendly staff. Good, clean, and spacious rooms. Wi-fi worked fine in the rooms.
Modern hotel, fast checkin, lots of free parking, good bar and it was open - unlike other hotels. Staff in desk helpful and polite. Nice views from the room. Took ages to locate on the 2011 Garmin GPS. Even Google had its location wrong. Showing signs of needing a bit of TLC. Single room very small.
Very good. will use it again
staff helpful with local directions (once we found the hotel). Also, breakfast was great. 1. Very difficult to find- -you need to improve your directions, and make the map copyable. 2. The walls of the room were extremely thin and we could hear all the activities of our neighbors- -but I doubt that this can be improved now.
I booked this for a friend when his car broke down and was going to local Audi garage. He and his wife were very pleased with the hotel and facilities. Staff were friendly and helpfull, would reccommend.
Glass lift was nice. Parking was easy and plenty of it, and shaded. Staff pleasant and helpful. Meals good. The free internet was good but did not work in the room. Like almost all hotels nowadays they don't seem to bother providing secure internet, which is very stupid as it costs no more to provide it. (expert opinion)
Small but functional room. A few English channels on TV. Breakfast of good quality and selection. Hard to find. Staff had very limited English. Considering isolated location, food options were too few.
The location in an old monastery was excellent We decided to eat in the restaurant of the hotel and did not much like the hurriedness and lack of enthusiasm of the serving staff. The dinner experience was not what it should have been.
Excellent Parador, outstanding location. ---------------------------------------
The site is impressive and bedrooms of the usual high standard, but allowing for it's Grade 2 status we found this Parador a little gloomy, with the cloisters fully enclosed with glazing. It would have been nice if seating & refreshments were available outside in the summer. Well situated for touring the area. On arrival our reservation could not be found. Not a good start when arriving at 2100 hours. Thankfully they had space and we had taken our full booking.com reference with us. The adjoining chapel was undergoing repairs and the ground beyond the swimming pool area were unkempt.
Location was fantastic....services were excellent, and the feel of history was also great. Not really...thoroughly emjoyed our stay.
Wonderful hilltop location, excellent food; rooms comfortable (we were in the modern extension near the swimming pool). We didn't use the pool but enjoyed the grounds The receptionist seemed a little harassed; the garden beyond the swimming pool was overgrown and neglected (but still had much charm)
Whilst the hotel was lovely and its position particularly impressive we were disappointed as we were not able to use the main facility attraction - the pool - as it was raining! The dinner was very disappointing.
Lovely hotel, friendly staff, not much to do in the area/town. No outside eating/drinking areas.
Very centrally located hotel. Reception staff could not have been more helpful. Please write at least 15 words A pity there was no residents bar or restaurant.
The air conditioning worked well. The male members of staff on the front desk were very polite. I found the quality-to-price relation very poor. I quickly formed the impression that my hotel room was drab and badly in need of renovation - e.g. both towel rails were wobbly and the toilet roll holder fell off. I found the orange emergency light very bright which made it difficult to sleep. I thought that the overblanket on the bed was not clean and the cleanliness of the pillows was not what I would expect for a 4 star hotel. A 'continental breakfast' was included in the room price but this involved just a few items from the buffet and this situation was not clear to me or another guest who took other items before being told that the were not included, which left a bad impression for me. Overall I would not recommend this hotel.
The friendly attention advice and guidance of Adolfo and Susanna made our stay rich and very satisfying experience. The dinners we had at the casa were superb - the equivalent of good restaurant quality - and the extensive library of Galician tourism literature and the many comfortable armchairs to settle into and enjoy these were a bonus. The pretty garden was also much appreciated in the glorious sunny weather we enjoyed during our stay. Without a GPS the casa is difficult to find by road. This can easily be rectified by supplying guests with a listing, in succession, of the approximately ten or so villages that a motorist needs to pass through between the turnoff form the N120 to Penalba and Albergueria. Having said this the many friendly and incredibly helpful villagers who we bothered for assistance during the four hours it took us to travel the 34 kms from the N120 to the casa will remain in our minds as a happy encounter, in retrospect. Galicia is a very good place to get hopelessly lost!
A warm and friendly welcome, the owners were very helpful and concerned that we would enjoy our stay and were keen to inform us of local sights and activities. The room was comfortable, clean and well-equipped. The food, both breakfast and dinner was excellent and served in a friendly atmosphere. There were communal spaces, carefully arranged to provide privacy but not isolation. I would recommend A Casa Da Eira unreservedly to other guests, the range of languages spoken was a real benefit to us.Thankyou!! Nothing
Hotel was lovely ,owners were fantastic they went out of their way to help us and done a lot more than they had to would definately recommend this hotel None
suzanne and adolfonzo could not have been friendlier . our stay was excellent. a very peaceful place.. only a short walk to an amazing view point of the canyon to the river sill. our evening meal, made especially for us by adolfonso was superb and easily the best we had in our 2 week tour of northen spain..all for 20 euros each including a bottle of wine !! felt like home ...top marks for value!!
Friendly and extremely helpful young proprietors who offered every assistance. Peaceful rural location miles from anywhere. Would have much preferred sheets/blankets to duvets found on beds. Isolation means many miles of twisting potholed mountain roads. Whilst reason for requirement of 24 hours notices is understable, it is not always foreseeable that dinner will be required the following evening.
susanne and adolfo are the most helpful hosts you could wish to meet ,most of the food is home grownin there organic garden ,Adolfo is an exelent cook, the casa is so so relaxing ,loved it
