Pros: Eagle House is a wonderful property! Super clean, comfortable, and absolutely charming. We arrived at night to an enchanting walk path of fairy lights in the back garden. Linda, the innkeeper, greeted us warmly and offered us a nightcap in the drawing room. The breakfast in the morning was the best one we had our entire trip! Will be recommending this gem to everyone who wants to be close to the action but away from the crowds!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: A lovely place run by lovely people. Lee and Marie are keen to make sure that guests have a good stay. The rooms were very clean and nicely presented, the bathrooms followed the same high standards. It was also a comfortable mattress and both my 6 month pregnant wife and I slept well. The breakfast the morning after the stay was freshly cooked and clean (not greasy). We were supposed to stay a 2nd night a week after the first, but something happened and we needed to prioritise taking care of the pregnant one. This B&B only offers refunds on the day of booking, even if you cancel a couple of days before. This is not a fault, and I cannot down rate them for it, after all they are running a business. My only recommendation, is that is you are going to want some food out for dinner, call the nearby restaurant “The Rag Country Inn” in advance, as you may struggle to get signal or space to get in on the day of arrival. All in all, this place is highly rated for a very good reason. The area is a quite one, but if you find yourself there, stay at The Lodge.

Pros: Despite my not normally going for continental breakfasts, I thought the one provided was excellent! The room was very comfortable & spacious, with all the facilities one could ask for (& more). Also, I couldn't have wished for a warmer welcome by the host, with a comprehensive explanation of everything.
Cons: The reason I marked down my score for Location was, although it is in a beautiful setting, I found it somewhat difficult to find the property, especially at night (in the dark) - my SatNav even got me lost! For this reason only I thought that the price I paid was a little more than it should have been.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The absolute BEST B&B we have ever stayed in in the UK! A gorgeous bedroom with a comfy, king-sized bed and a huge bathroom. Makings for coffee, tea, hot cocoa--the works. Come for the accommodations, stay for the warm welcome and entertaining conversation! The thing that sets The Coach House apart from other beautiful B&Bs is Elaine herself. She is the "hostess with the mostest"! She was waiting for us with fresh tea and home-made cake every afternoon. Breakfast was fantastic, as was her funny, warm personality. We instantly felt like we had known her for years. She's also a CRT volunteer, so narrowboaters, this the B&B for you.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: WOW. Just got back from a stay at the Coach House and the only way to describe it is WOW. Every little detail is thought of and every little extra (of which there are loads) is high end. Arrived to a pot of tea and homemade cake. Chocolates, tea, coffee, coke and chilled water were in our room. Lots of lovely toiletries in the bathroom. Beautiful views over the gardens and fields. The bed was amazing! The best nights sleep I’ve had for a long, long time. The breakfast was cooked to order and everything was great quality and cooked to perfection. You can tell Elaine puts her heart into her B&B and it really pays off.

Overview Reviews
When you stay at The Moat House in Stafford, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Ancient High House and Stafford Castle. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Pleasant greeting by reception and room very comfortable and quiet . Easy access to dining room with a table for two to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Meal was exceptional, good food and wine . Breakfast well cooked but sadly no salmon or avacado left . All good though .
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Unfortunately having stayed at the hotel previously, my expectations were high. Therefore I was disappointed that there was only one ale available as there had been a wedding the previous day and no sausages available at breakfast until a delivery arrived. The hotel was fully booked and I would have thought that due consideration would have been taken.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastically helpful staff. Great location.
Cons: N/A
7.5 Good
Pros: The location was pretty. The room was spacious and very clean. The breakfast was amazing. The staff were generally friendly and nice.
Cons: The hotel was a little difficult to find, having followed the address on my sat nav , there was still a little way to go before reaching the establishment and it wasn't sign-posted very well. The WiFi in the room was awful and I had to use my own data for the length of my stay. I didn't like the centrally-controlled heating, at times I felt cold, but was reluctant to ask reception to turn up the heating because I knew that I would later be feeling that the room was too warm and didn't want to keep calling reception to change the room temperature. I asked in the afternoon if I should book a place at the restaurant and was told that there was only one booking for that evening so I shouldn't need to do so. However, when I decided to book a table just in case a couple of hours later I was told that the restaurant was fully booked. As a result, I had to have my dinner from the bar menu which didn't have a great deal of choice, and having ordered I had to wait 40 mins for my food to arrive. I wasn't that impressed with the quality of the food either, and was rather disappointed as the restaurant was apparently "award-winning" so I had expected the same standards at the bar. There was only one staff member at Reception who always seemed to be busy, I waited a couple of times to ask a question, but gave up after a while as I didn't have the time to wait.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the location.
8.8 Excellent

Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly welcoming stay. All excellant
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Really nice room, very clean & comfortably. The room was also very cool for the summer months which was a bonus.
Cons: Only thing we wasn’t to keen on was the food in the pub next door. However the pub itself was run well and in a lovely location.
7.0 Good
Pros: We liked the hotel rooms which were stocked daily with bottled water and the location.
Cons: The Spread Eagle is a real contradiction. On the hotel side, we were pleasantly surprised by large en suite rooms that were well specced but the pub/restaurant left a lot to be desired. We stayed for two nights and noted that tables were sticky and covered in food from the previous guests, carpets were not clean and dead flies lay on the window cills - just appeared uncared for. The food served was poor. We had one evening meal, two carverys and two steak specials. The carverys were ineadible and were so dry that the roast potatoes were hollow, the meat hard and tasteless. The two steaks were cooked to well done but we had oredered one medium and one medium rare. The cooked breakfasts were also poor, with the sausage and hash brown being cremated and the bacon very underdone and beans luke warm.
7.5 Good
Pros: Room was really good.
Cons: Carvery was poor. Beef was really tough, even brisket is excellent when cooked properly. Sweet corn was tough and tasteless. Spoilt the stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bedroom was lovely. Extra touch of 2 bottles of water in the room. Comfy bed and very clean. Breakfast was very good would definetly recommend
Cons: Nothing could have made the stay any better

Pros: It was clean and that's all I liked about it really
Cons: There was no slip mat for the shower and my 2 year old baby slipped over pretty bad I'm really not happy about this. The breakfast wasn't good at all. The milk was uht in a box. Pros: Central with free parking, character building, well laid out and clean, great staff, good restaurant and bars.
Cons: Only negative, and not really the hotel’s fault, but we did stay on ‘that’ day (the one with record July 2019 temperatures) and our room was everso hot and we could only open the window about 6 inches up from the bottom.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The pub was easy to find being on a main route to Stone in a lovely setting. Very clean with a mixture of modern and traditional country pub feel. The staff were excellent and went out of their way to help. The room was comfy and had everything we needed, including a fan! The breakfast was good too. It is obvious that this is a thriving pub by the fact that the restaurant was packed in the evening and so was the beer garden outside (mind you, it was the hottest day of the year!). It was only 4 miles to Stone and we were visiting family so it was perfect and very good value for money.
Cons: The TV could be positioned better (on an angle to the bed) and our room was near the road so we could hear the traffic - unfortunately it was the hottest day of the year so we had to leave the windows open. Would stay in a different room next time.

Cons: Nothing

Pros: Staff were really friendly & made us feel welcome by giving us a small gift of some biscuits, some cold water to drink & milk for our tea. We had a fabulous meal in the restaurant & a couple of drinks in the bar after. On the Sunday morning, a little bottle of milk in a cooler bag was delivered outside our door so we could make tea with fresh milk - a really nice touch & not offered this way before at any other establishment!
Cons: Nothing.

A very pleasant break in our journey home.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: A very very clean room. All lights worked. Plus a good loud T.V.
Cons: I had no breakfast. And there was no hot water, sink or shower. The window sometimes didn't close, I couldn't operate it properly. There was no air conditioning. So I had to have the window open however the traffic effected the overall sleep.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lots of small features that made my stay extra comfortable, including a massive shower, multiple breakfast options and sockets next to the bed. Fantastic staff too.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A really pleasant stay on all fronts. Rooms and Bar were really tip top and stylish. Staff super friendly and helpful. Spot on.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Large room
Cons: Couldn't get the wi-fi to work No cutlery provided with the room breakfast
8.8 Excellent
Cons: Only continental breakfast available which consists of a few items parked in your room fridge overnight - I assume because the hotel can’t be bothered to open up in the morning - it was unappetising and not a good start to the working day
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole experience from walking through a bar that was buzzing to the staff and the room - immaculate. I couldn't make breakfast as i needed to leave early and i was surprised by the continental style breakfast i found in my room - facilities in the room are fantastic right down to a sound bar for the phone - tea and coffee - drinks fridge which was very reasonably priced. Only thing i would pick up on and this is in no way a reflection on The Little George is that the shower head would not stay in place whilst showering but that is very very small in comparison to the excellence of the place. Well Done on providing such a wonderfully looked after hotel/bar and keep up the good work as i will definitely be returning.
Cons: Nothing - nothing at all.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything g else was great
Cons: Slightly disappointed that a Saturday night stay meant you only had a continental breakfast.... We didn't know that

Pros: What a warm and friendly welcome! I stopped off for one night whilst my car was with a local specialist and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Staff so friendly (in a completely sincere way). Room lovely and very clean and modern. Tried Staffordshire oat cakes for breakfast for the first time - recommended. Also enjoyed a tasty burger for lunch and a very good pint of Monty ale. Would recommend this place to anyone. Must mention the staff again though - thoroughly welcoming + friendly. Nice one!
Cons: Nothing I can think of.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location
Cons: Had to wait an hour for breakfast and no oatcakes!

Pros: Staff friendly. Bed very comfortable. Room a nice size. Carpark very secure. Rooms are quiet.
