9.5 Excellent
Pros: Clean, friendly staff, comfortable bed

10.0 Excellent
Pros: WE loved this place. It was beautiful. The restaurant was wonderful. Staff super helpful. I would go back to Dubuque just to stay there!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, clean and comfortable room. Parking was easy and convenient. Hotel had good proximity to many attractions.
Cons: Wish the pool was larger or there was an outdoor pool. Understand with Midwest weather and lack of space on the property, that it's difficult or impractical. Enjoyed the stay very much.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: beautiul hotel
Cons: The staff was pretty bad the hotel manager was arrogant and rude Some of the front desk staff was rude One woman in particular was nasty Calling for room service was also an issue They didnt want to help
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Loved the room, but not the neighbors next door. They were very loud. The bar was excellent my wife and I both liked it alot. The bartender was very friendly and helpful we order a charcuterie platter and he explained to us so of the items on it, we really liked the pepper jelly. This was our second trip to this hotel in a month and again the restaurant needs a lot of work. I've always said you can't ruin breakfast but the manager to do it.
Cons: We had an adjoining room and the people next door were always up late and were early risers we could here everything. They were loud talkers. However I did not complain to hotel staff. So it's my own fault.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice neighborhood and close to casino
Cons: Some of the furnishings could be touched up or replaced. Chair with ottoman was not comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful building and rooms
Cons: Loved everything about it
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The Hotel Julien is delightful. Both charming and cozy. The rooms are lovely and first class. It feels like a 5 star hotel at a much lower price. Our room was, spacious, comfortable, and well appointed. It even had an arm chair with an ottoman which was perfect for resting my tired feet after walking all over Dubuque. On top of the normal amenities they have inexpensive, quality snacks (most were $2) in the room and a nice mini bar with a good selection. How often do you get to your hotel room, starving, and have to scramble around to find something to eat?! Hotel Julien solves that problem so nicely. And the fridge was still big enough to accommodate the food and drinks we brought with us.
Cons: I had read that the staff were really friendly and helpful. We found them to be professional but not over the top friendly or attentive. But still, they were good, just not great.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous classic hotel with fine rooms, great amenities and lovely public areas. Very nice restaurant.
Cons: It was almost impossible to regulate our room temperature. Cold with strong fans or heat if you adjust it to be a degree or two warmer.

Pros: Upon arrival the proprietor gave us a tour of the mansion and told us about the history of the house and property. It was pretty cool to stay in a 100+ year old house.
Cons: When u pull up there is a scaffolding covering the front of the building. And the porch stairs are in a bit of disrepair. Probably not the best first impression that could have been made.

4.0 Okay
Pros: It's connected to the Old Chicago, which makes it easy to get a meal.
Cons: Very small continental breakfast included, which was average. Can hear room to room easy. We could hear the person snoring all night in the room next to us. Room smelled musty. Tried calling front deak- phone didn't work, they couldn't hear me on the line
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel includes a sports bar, and the excellent hot breakfast at the bar was included with the price of the hotel.
Cons: No
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice facility. Excellent breakfast.
Cons: Poolside room was very noisy. Even after 10PM
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was served at the hotel restaurant, Old Chicago. By far, the best "included breakfast" I have ever had in the US. It was not your typical "free breakfast" that one usually receives with their stay. The room was very clean and much larger than expected. Pool was nice with plenty of room. Staff was very friendly with virtually no waiting for check in.
Cons: The bed was good for people who like a firm mattress. The coffee was decent but I have had better coffee at other hotel chains.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good, location, comfy bed
Cons: Jacuzzi in room didnt seem to be working properly. Sounded like motor was getting ready to burn out. Very loud so we didnt use which was disapointing since it was our anniversary.
6.3 Good
Pros: Good free breakfast
Cons: Noisy! Every footstep in unit above sounded like thunder. Heard slamming and banging. Would only stay here again if I was on 3rd floor.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The continental breakfast, easy access to everything, open area pool. The location was easy to get to and easy to get to our other destinations.
Cons: It seemed like some of the front desk staff was not good at multitasking.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very good breakfast, clean and comfortable rooms.very nice staff.
Cons: Staff should be aware of telling customers that if you Uber to Galena, you can not get back! None of the companies will cross state lines. Even taxi companies. We were almost stuck there. But,the hotel was very clean, staff was very nice.
6.8 Good
Pros: Spacious, comfy bed, nice tv
Cons: Horrible pizza from old Chicago (barely cooked, no flavor), semi friendly staff, awful coffee, no half n half just powder, continental breakfast was picked over no options for vegetarian person, seems a bit pricey for location
6.3 Good
Pros: The room was nicely appointed and clean. Breakfast was OK, although the only meat choice was mediocre corned beef hash and cereal was only 2 choices in small boxes. Staff was very friendly.
Cons: Some group(s) of sports group with kids made a LOT of noise for a long time after they should have been out of the pool area (in front of our room) and a complaint to the front desk did not help. Breakfast was OK, although the only meat choice was mediocre corned beef hash and cereal was only 2 choices in small boxes.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very close to work Had a great room handicap acess made it a dream to shower in
5.0 Okay
Pros: Location was good. Good brunch daily.
Cons: Pool side room was the only rooms available during our stay. The pool doesn’t close until 11:00pm and the drunk adults and wild children using it were so loud it was impossible to rest/sleep. We made 5 calls to front desk which was answered by incredibly rude staff. Nothing was done to address noise (which was out of control) even though they continued to say they would. Why would you keep pool open to 11:00 pm when so many rooms face the pool??? Will never stay there again!

Cons: Our carpet was dingy and actually sticky in spots.
4.3 Okay
Pros: skipped breaKFAST
Cons: tHE ROOM WAS NOT WHAT I ORDERED. i WANTED A ROOM WITH shOWER chair. I am handicapped. I wanted a room next to the elevator,. The desk person, very attentive young lady, used and the browwed wheelchair that belonged to the Q Casino to get me to my room. The room had dust around the lights between the beds. The beds were two queens. They mattresses were high off the floor and you had to jump backward to get up on the bed. The beds had a 4ft area that was sable and the outside area of the mattress was very soft and you would roll of. we had a few bottles of Coke diet and put them in the fridge., I froze them over night. The cabinet used to dress up the fridge is completely enclosed which closes air from circulating. Maybe the causes the fridge from cooling accurately.,

Cons: I can not think of anything I did not like
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was so much bigger than we thought it would be. It was only minutes to the locations we needed to be at. The only problem we had was when we went to use the hot tub it was filled with little kids whose parents were to busy on their phones to be watching them which they were to young to be in the hot tub anyway. Little disappointed in that.

Nice size yogurt good variety. Hubby had a smoothie first time ever! Place was very clean and well kept:) Very out going staff ready to help in anyway they could.

Pros: Parking was convenient. People at the front desk were super friendly and helpful.
Cons: I think the breakfast could have had more options.

Pros: The fresh cookies and coffee/tea were nice

People can't get to it when others are trying to make their waffles. Bathtub was not clean. There were several pieces of hair in it. Exterior looks rough. Doesn't appear to have been updated for a long time.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Easy location w friendly staff. Continental breakfast a plus.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: While this is not a 5 star hotel, the owners' hospitality makes up for it in spades. He was incredibly gracious and hospitable and I would recommend anyone passing through to stay here. At $50/night, you just can't beat it. The weekend I was there was the weekend of a marathon. One of the guests mentioned that the marathon started early and the owner decided to get up early and start coffee and open the breakfast area early (5:30 am) so they could get access before leaving for the event. Rooms have a fridge, TV, plenty of lighting, etc. I actually love the fact that it was a motel and there was a chair outside my room so I could go sit outside in the evening and morning. Great place and I would stay again.
Cons: The rooms are not 5-star rooms, but they are cozy and for $50, what more can you ask. The owner actually mentioned that since he acquired the place, they closed a bunch of the rooms and they are going through them room by room to re-open them based on higher standards. So, they are moving in the right direction with it.

Pros: Location was excellent for getting around town. My wife and I both thought that the breakfast could have been better. The self-serve items were quite varied, but the main entre was lacking. It was basically like a Mickey "D's" egg McMuffin. It tasted much better then McDonalds, but could still use more variety and imagination with cooking. The room was clean. There was some peeling wallpaper (As had been mentioned in reviews I had read prior to booking.) It looked more like normal maintenance, as opposed to neglect. The outside needed some work, but that is normal for a house this large. The inside was quite clean, there was no musty odor, like from water intrusion. The overall appearance of the outside was certainly way above where my wife and I had stayed last year, for our anniversary. I will not mention the name, but it was also in Dubuque.
Cons: See above. It sort of got combined.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The innkeeper was amazing - so nice, so attentive.
Cons: However, the room was a bit dirty - dust along baseboards, spiderwebs on frame in bathroom, wallpaper falling off walls and sometimes held up with multi-colored thumbtacks. Rugs and furniture were worn. Towels were pink. The heater was ridiculously loud.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners were wonderful. Definitively go back.
9.5 Excellent
Cons: Parking is a small factor. A parking voucher would be nice.. I got a parking ticket for parking on the wrong side of the street as there is alternating sides.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great, hospitality wonderful, loved the vintage style and history of the home. This was our 2nd visit to this hotel and would recommend to everyone!
Cons: bathroom could use a bit more shelving or table space
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Customer service from innkeeper was very welcoming. Comfortable bed. Quiet B&B including neighborhood. Love the character of the inn.
Cons: Room needs a bit of detailing-two bulbs need replacement and a section of the ceiling is covered with loose paper and tacks.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner and staff
8.3 Excellent
Pros: 19th-century architecture - they don’t make homes like this anymore. The decor includes paintings of the family that built the mansion, and books detailing their impact on Dubuque and several industries. The staff is friendly and it’s a fun place to explore. Breakfast was good, too!
Cons: Alas, the age and condition of the building causes some problems. Wallpaper is peeling, and there was a wet spot in my room from a ceiling leak. It didn’t ruin my enjoyment of the place, but such things come with staying in very old buildings. This place would benefit from a major restoration.

Pros: cleanliness and friendliness of the Staff!! Rooms were at a comfortable level of cool/heat. The Beds were super soft ! The Water pressure in the bathroom was awesome, the sinks drained great ( that is usually a problem at the places we stay at , that they do not drain very good in the sink and bath tub ), the noise level from room to room was awesome, with that I mean the walls were thick enough and I did not hear the neighbor flush his/her toilet !!
Cons: there was nothing, I did not like. We even made it to Breakfast and it was all nice and Hot and Clean and enough there for everyone. The Breakfast room was pretty full and the Staff made sure they filled up all the items right away before they got empty !

Pros: The simple breakfast with a bit of a variety was ample and very satisfactory. We had toast, juice, bagel, banana, cream cheese and coffee between the two of us and were very satisfied. It carried us until our lunch stop. The room was clean and neat with the normal amenities. The beds were comfortable with more pillows than either of us needed.
Cons: Don't have anything to say here. There was nothing I didn't like.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The location was good. Right off the highway.
Cons: The building is old and dated. There was a musty smell in the hallways and room. Staff was friendly, management...not so much. Check out day the room key was disabled at 9am and we hadn't checked out. Cleaning staff came by 3 times before the 11:00 check out to clean the room. Breakfast was limited in choice and amount.

Cons: I prefer a little larger TV, but what was in room was fine.

6.0 Good
Pros: When I called earlier in the week the staff was friendly and knowledgeable.
Cons: Arrived at 3pm and were able to pre register. Was told check-in started at 4 and would get a call when the room was ready. Met with family and ate a small meal. Finally received a call at 5 that the room was ready. Not what we expected after 4hr car ride.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The water park was great. Even busy it was still fun. The movie on the lawn was the best!
7.0 Good
Pros: The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was pleasant and gave good recommendations for places to eat when asked. It is walking distance to the Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium and downtown area of Dubuque (or less than 5 minute drive) which allowed for fun outside of the waterpark. The hotel has a free craft time daily, which is really nice if you have children ages 3-10.
Cons: The waterpark is worn and it shows. There were parts that didn't work, rust, stained & chipped pool paint/plaster. The waterpark is fairly small, which for having a toddler was perfect but not sure teenagers would enjoy it. Also, when I called to add on the waterpark (since it was not included when booking online), I was told it would be an additional $20 to our stay for 3 days at the waterpark; but once at check-in I was told it was an additional $20/day for the waterpark. We arrived right around 4pm on Friday, and the line to check in was very long and moved slowly which may have just been because it was a Friday afternoon and lots of wedding guests were checking in.
6.8 Good
Pros: The hotel was located were we need it. Went to stay for our 30th wedding anniversary. Had a very nice room.
Cons: Was not very happy with the construction smells. My wife got sick from the smell of the glue used to put down the carpet . Would have canceled and went another time if would have known it was under construction. Like the hotel very much but not much fun when wife is sick from smells.

Pros: Convenient, nice pool area. Beds were comfortable
Cons: Small lobby. A few people were checking in at the same time and it seems crammed. The bathroom in our room had a overwhelming chemical cleaner order. We had to leave the fan on all night and had to make extremely quick bathroom breaks because you couldn’t breathe in there

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nicely appointed, recently remodeled, well lit, comfortable bed and quiet HVAC unit.
Cons: Could hear the heavy footsteps of person above - a real stomper.
5.8 Okay
Pros: I am handing cap. After check in they ask me to park across in another parking lot because they where going to black top the parking lot. I can not walk very good. Then the parking lot we parked in you had to walk up a grassy hill. No sidewalk it was very hard for a senior citizen. They did not refill my things in my bathroom or even serviced my room I ran out of towels and sampoo. Why they couldn't explain about the parking lot at the time of check in I would have maybe found some place else. No discounts. I paid over $350.00 and all of this discomfort. Will never stay at you hotels agian I believe in HONESTY up front
Cons: See above very disturbing.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was surprisingly good. I liked the location because there were 2 nice restaurants very close to this hotel. The staff were quite friendly and the room was very comfortable. The pool and hot tub were adequate.
Cons: There was a huge crack in the bathroom sink. The restroom in the pool area had a problem with the lock and you could not lock the door when you used this restroom. The floor was very dirty in this restroom also.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, Cleanliness Staff
Cons: No
6.3 Good
Pros: Location was easy to find and within many locations we visited in the Dubuque area
Cons: Staff certainly had a attitude of doing minimal only with a smile. Key would not work at check in due to latch issues. Told us just to operated the handle in a certain way to open. 2nd day the key time limit had expired per desk staff even though we had checked in for a 2 night stay. Cleaning staff did not knock at the door the morning we were checking out. Just unlocked and started to walk in. Breakfast was taken care by front desk person both mornings and was stretched to handle both responsibilities.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: I forgot to give my Radisson membership number!
7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was OK. Nothing above average. Warm sausage, eggs and biscuit, but not as good as any fast food restaurant. Hotel location was good. Directly next to a Applebees and Carlos OKellys.
Cons: Breakfast was only average at best. There was a water shut-off or leak and when the water came back on the water was extremely dirty and rusty looking.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: we really enjoyed the hot tub
Cons: when inquiring at desk in evening for restaurants, the front desk person person, simply indicated that there was no list. I was hoping to located some local, friendly places to eat.
7.0 Good
Pros: The staff was EXCEPTIONAL, especially the general manager and, one whose name escapes me but was MORE than friendly. (This woman was a registration person that usually worked the day shift.) These 2 worked HARD to fulfill needs.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very convenient and clean.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very professional and very friendly
Cons: The hotel just needs new renovations I think it could benefit from it.
6.3 Good
Pros: Close vicinity to the colleges we were playing basketball at.
Cons: Poor breakfast options, running toilet until wiggling handle, interior design is quite dated,
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great room
Cons: Shower curtain and shower had mold
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cleanliness, everything worked. Bath showers. Desk host,
Cons: The only fault I had was the mold on the bottom of the shower curtain and the grout.
7.5 Good
Pros: It was a busy weekend for Dubuque and this was close to where we were going. Good value for a one night stop.
Cons: Everything was fine
7.0 Good
Pros: Friendly staff, clean room, lots of channels, nice to have a 24 hour coffee bar. Right off the highway.
Cons: No elevator made us have to take several trips for our luggage--this should probably be listed somewhere on the info page. Breakfast selection was slim, and the juice was fake. No pool, and nothing really to do in the area.
7.0 Good
Pros: Room A/C was awesome! Bed was comfortable.
Cons: Rooms are getting tired. Very moldy shower walls.
7.5 Good
Pros: Staff was helpful.
Cons: No coffee in the room - I had to ask for it. The telephone didn't work. The upholstery and carpet were pretty warn.
5.5 Okay
Pros: It was cheap. That's about this place's redeeming quality.
Cons: The bed was big but hard. The pillows were also hard as rocks. They don't use climate control when the rooms are unoccupied, so it was about 85-90 degrees in the room when i checked in at about 10-10:30 pm. The AC unit was from like 1986, so there weren't a bunch of settings, but it took a good couple hours to cool the room down enough for me to actually sleep in. All the decor was super dated and the la-z-boy looked like it came from an old folks home, again from 1986. Basic cable only, so no movies to watch while i was waiting for the place to cool off. I had to get up early and leave by about 7, so i was not excited about not being able to pass out right away when i checked in.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Staff was very nice, had a good breakfast provided.
Cons: Tub was dirty, was left less than half a roll of toilet paper for the 2 nights we were there. Only got a new roll when we had to ask for one from the staff. Bathroom had 2.5 shampoo bottles & no conditioner.
6.8 Good
Pros: The breakfast offering was good on both mornings, biscuits and gravy, hard boiled eggs, coffee, juice, etc. The location has close access to fast food and snack shops.
Cons: The air conditioner was noisy when run for extended periods. There was no coffee supplies in the room , even though there was a coffee maker. There were only 2 tissues in the bathroom on Friday, and no more were replenished when the room was cleaned Saturday.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Guy at the desk was nice
Cons: Bathroom was not clean.. Hair on the floor and pee all around the toilet
