Pros: Very nice and quiet location with view to Psiloritis. We were very cordially received. Sisters and others were very warm, friendly, generous and helpful. Room was very comfortable and clean. Great terrace with delicious breakfast, home made herb tea and honey. Just a perfect place to relaxation for body and soul. Thanks for AMAZING moments! Christian and Simona
Pros: The hospitality, the quality of the food, the view around the place, the owners' kindness. Recommended for everyone who would prefer something deeper than just sitting around the beaches.
Cons: WiFi in the rooms could be better (coverage and availability wise).
Pros: Very friendly people. Fantastic place. The food was delicious Can't ask for moore.
Pros: Aravanes is simply a wonderful place. It has one of the greatest views imaginable - sitting on your own terrace or in the taverna, the view both down into the valley and up onto the 3 peaks of Psiloritis, Samitos and Kedros is exceptional - both day and night, dawn and dusk! In the black of night you can see the night sky and shooting stars! The Amari Valley is one of the best kept secrets in Europe so don't tell too many people - in years to come this place will be discovered. Superb local produce served by such friendly staff. The small pool is great for kids or for cooling off, though up in the hills it is a bit more comfortable than the coast. There are so many great things to do in the area - just don't book it when I want to go!! An hours drive are 3 of the best beaches you could ever wish to visit and the drive around the valley is so much fun.
Cons: The entry in a large car would be a bit tricky
Pros: Amazing view, comfortable room with balcony, home like atmosphere, great value for money and extremely hospitable hosts
Pros: Our family of four spent 3 nights in August in the cute little ‘vintage’ house. It was newly refurbished with comfortable beds and a nice terrace with table & chairs. It’s not part of the main building, but less than a minute’s walk away! We loved the accommodation, the pool, the views in all directions. The owners and staff were SO friendly, kind and helpful. We ate breakfast and dinner on all 3 days and ate fantastic food. The vegetarian options were amazing; the courgette fritters were the best we had in Crete...And the house wine was perfect. If we ever come back to Crete, we’ll definitely stay at Aravanes again.
Pros: We had such a wonderful, peaceful stay at Aravanes. The location is great to relax somewhere away from the beach and away from all the tourists. It was very quiet other than natural sounds of the animals around and what an amazing view of the mountains! Especially at sunset! The staff were all so lovely and the breakfast was great - amazing home made fresh bread with fruits, honey and yoghurt! The food we had for dinner at the Taverna was also very nice. Our room was very comfortable with a great view from the balcony. I would love to stay here again for a peaceful break away from the other tourist areas of Crete.
Pros: The view, tasty foods, friendly staff
Pros: Amazing rooms in a traditional taverna Peaceful Friendly staff Excellent food A view to die for
Cons: Very little housekeeping carried out during our stay - not a huge problem though

Pros: A true gem in a very special area! Our extended stay at Alexander Hotel in Gerakari was definitely the highlight of our 18 day trip in Greece and we highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys the mountains and country side. A special thanks to all the staff and especially Adonis and Maria, for their amazing hospitality and service that made our stay extra memorable! Our room was spacious and comfortable with a great view of the mountains and the village. The facilities and amenities were impressive, especially considering the price point. We enjoyed the basketball / tennis court as well as the games room, where they have a large selection of games (including but not limited to billiards, ping pong, air hockey, darts and board games). Different movies were shown every night on a big screen in the lobby. The lovely pools were closed for the season (we were there in early November). The hotel also has a fitness room and free bicycles to use. The large number of antique tools and household items displayed in a hallway were also interesting to look at. Breakfast selection was always fresh, delicious and plentiful and included both hot and cold savoury and sweet items. We also ate at the hotel’s restaurant every night (which we rarely do) because were always extremely satisfied with their delicious and copious nightly specials. We do recommend a car to fully appreciate the area beyond the village. Free parking is available on the premises.
Pros: The rooms were of a very high standard, decent size, well furnished & clean. The room even had a shelf & sturdy coat rack for our motorcycle helmets & gear. The ensuite was small but sufficient. The breakfast was huge enough food for 5 let alone 2. The staff were really friendly.
Cons: The ensuite could benefit from an extractor fan.
Pros: Good place near the mountains, perfect for hiking and other activities. Very friendly hosts, delicious breakfast buffet! Room with balcony and views.
Cons: The inside restaurant is a bit narrow, specially at breakfast time.
Pros: Staff very friendly..ambience lovely.lots of books and games in lounge.breakfast good..value for money excellent.
Cons: Dinner could have been better.
Cons: The staff were very helpful. I was their only guest as they locked down for the winter. The place is very comfortable and quirky, happy to recommend
Pros: any way the place itself is very beutiful the stuff is very kind and pleasant willing to do for you everithing ! even cause i am vegan brought me almond milk instead of regular milk and special vegan cheese planty and good food it seems the stuff is happy to serve you !
Cons: the place is far from main cities not their fault... some of the stuff do not know english so well still try their best !

Pros: Good help for everything. Despite the hotel was almost full the host provided a solution . Very nice view from the room.
Pros: Very nice family restaurant and rooms. Highly recommended.
Pros: A very nice top floor apartment with amazing views across the valley. Food was excellent at the Taverna, with a lovely outside eating area. Dina and Jiannis making sure we were comfortable, and Jiannis even giving us a lift up to the refuge (1500m) so we could make the ascent up Psiloritis.
Pros: They kindly made me an early breakfast at 6:45 so I could make an early start climbing the Psiloritis mountains. Handy device so you could dry a bit of washing outside the window.
Cons: I arrived at where the rooms were located, which looked a bit shabby from the outside, but should have gone to the associated Taverna on the main road.
Pros: Very nice place with very helpful host. They helped about everything we needed. Superbe views form the room
Pros: The location suited us en route from Kamillari to Rethymnon so we could explore the sites in the Amari valley.
Cons: It felt like we were borrowing someone else's flat for the night so not quite what we expected. Not 100% clean, there were bits on the bathroom rug which could have done with a shake. Admittedly we were being offered it as an upgrade so the 3 of us ended up with a bedroom each so it may have been offered as an after thought at the moment of our arrival. NB we were not accommodated in the same building as the restaurant which was a 5-10 minute walk through the village.
Pros: That's a perfect place to stay before/after Psiloritis long hike route. Very friendly owners and tasty food. Also tavern is a perfect place to rest after the hike. Rooms are spacious and clean. I recommend!
Cons: Shower water could be warmer ;-)
Pros: The food cooked by Tina was delicious.
Cons: The room was very hot and had no air conditioning.
