We chose the hotel for its reputation for the great cuisine. When we arrived, the restaurant was closed for general public, but open for the hotel guests. As we arrived quite late, we were the only two people having the great dinner. Manuele did his best to cater for all of our needs during our short stay and made us feel very welcome. I have already recomended the place to some friends and family members and would recomend it to anybody who is on a gastronomic tour of Italy.
We had 3 nights at this comfortable small (max 15 pers) hotel in a small town about 30 mintues drive outside Gubbio (you need a good map to find it!). We prebooked an evening meal on first night which was of good standard and very filling. If vegetarian do state this in advance. Breakfast was a good continential spread. There is no air con in the bedrooms - be warned! Not an issue when we stayed as it was cool. Like many Italian houses, the rooms stay cool due to small windows and shutters. Bar is well stocked but not somewhere to linger. Little else in the town.
Very welcoming attentive staff, super meals some of the best we had in Umbria and quiet calm atmosphere in the place and nicely furnished much enjoyed A bigger outdoor area for relaxing in would have been nice
The family, hospitality, the food, the atmosphere, the rooms. It was a great experience
We would like a bath in the bathroom
Excellent quality of dinner dishes and home-made food! Very authentic, friendly and helpful staff (the 2 brothers); cosy hotel with lots of historic character and spacious room (we were offered the suite for same price due to hotel not fully booked yet); beautifully located in the heart of the Marchigian hills (lots of nature, forests around); possibility of horse back riding nearby a plus.
The Food Was top Class no it was Super
The friendliness and the hospitality were amazing, however the restaurant was closed they prepared us a wonderful meal.the locanda was completly renewed but with respect for their building traditions. On top of that they offered us the largest appartment we have ever had.
This hotel is incredible! Peaceful location, beautiful surroundings, perfect accommodations, outstanding food and staff assistance - all perfect. We will definitely return.
warm atmosphere, very nice staff, beautifull old building firstclass renoviert, definitely nothing
Romantic enchanted Castle in beautiful town, right in the center of ancient Middle Ages town No parking near the hotel, free parking 10 min walk from hotel, you can stop by hotel to load/unload. staff gladly helps
Comfortable hotel, friendly staff, good breakfast by Italian standards.
very nice location very dark and too many stairs to the room.
Hotel with a genuine atmosphere. Very friendly and forthcoming personnel. Nothing
excellent location and wonderful room with an amazing view
The central location
unbeatable location. Very charming place. Friendly and attentive staff. Good breakfast with freshly made cakes and hot drinks from the bar nearby. A lovely place overall. Water temperature keeps changing during shower, to anything from cold to very hot.
The location in te town centre was excellent. The room had stunning views. The hotel has lovely gardens. It was great having breakfast out in the Piazza Grande. The hotel was excellent value for money.
very good central location we were not warned of the fact that our arrival coincided with a festival and it was a nightmare getting to the hotel as streets were blocked off
We liked everything:the comfort, the gardens, the location, the breakfast and the help from the lady at the desk. We liked everything.
The friendly staff A little dark
Lovely hotel - helpful staff, balcony with beautiful views, family suite excellent, wouldn`t recommend the restaurant (very slow & chaotic service).
Very good value for money. Very nice hotel. What a view... Perfect location. We would recommend this hotel to everyone.
The suite was lovely, and the breakfast was very good. The staff was very helpful, and kindly spoke English for us.
Extremely helpful staff! The restaurant staff also provided fantastic (and gluten free!) food. A beautiful hotel.
The staff was superb; always helpful, gracious and accommodating. The nicest hotel staff during our stay in Italy and this was my 6th visit to the country. Our bathroom was extremely small for three people to use. The bathtub was very small with only a hand held shower. Other bathrooms were larger, so I would suggest to future travelers to request a room with a spacious bathroom.
The location was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful We were not immediately issued with a controller for the air conditioning and had to ask for it when we returned in the evening
attentive staff, lovely rooms, great central location
Fantastic hotel with excellent service. We stayed in one of the 2 Renaissance Suites with large fresco paitings and it was fantastic to wake up in the morning and see these fantastic paintings above your head.We had 2 wonderful days in this hotel and the charmiming village of Gubbio. The restaurant Bosone Garden is also very nice with very good service and good local food. This is really a hotel if you search for something different/exclusive and once in a lifetime experience. Nothing
It is an amazingly beautiful hotel w/ great amenities. The extras
The setting amongst the trees was good. Breakfasts were excellent and the dining room also very good. Strong smell in the room - old cigarette smoke or old wood (something like that) that permeated all the furnishings and a very dated decor in the rooms - typcial American/Italian style.
Location, nice breakfast There is an internet fee, which is a pain in such an expensive hotel, but I think it is common in Italy, and the hotel also charges for the jacuzzi and sauna, the restaurant is out of style
Got an incredibly low internet rate which more than halved the cost of staying. It is a beautiful hotel with fantastic public rooms and one of the nicest restaurants I have ever been in Just one small issue - tried to make a reservation via phone for dinner but was kept waiting for 3 minutes and then somoene at the other end finally put the phone down! But generally it was incredible for the money we paid.
It was well located. Room was good. Staff helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very basic but then it is a 3 star so probably appropriate. Downside was the constant chiming of the clock and tolling of church bells and the foot traffic below my room which made sleeping difficult.
The hotel is a small hotel in the heart of the city inside the walls. You can walk to everything. Your car must be parked about 70 meters away where you can pay 8 Euros a day or after unloading your luggage you can park for free near the Roman theater ruins (about a 5 minute walk). The staff was very friendly and helpful. Everything they recommended was great The room we had was small but breakfasts were very good and the price was unbeatable. The only reason we checked good instead of excellent for comfort is because our room was small. The bed was comfortable. The lighting was good. There was a phone in the room and an en suite bathroom.
very friendly staff, very good room for the price, good location
Overall impression ok Lack of comfort in the reception area (e.g. a table where you could play with bad weather).
Very nice stuff and excellent location
Good position with very helpful staff. Breakfast very good (for italy) the bells on the church just outside our window rang every 15 minutes making sleep difficult. Shutters on the windo od room 486 would have helped.
The breakfast was delicious, the room was spacious and warm, the bathroom was very clean. The hotel owner/manager was very friendly and helpful. The night person who checked us in was not very friendly. However, the hotel owner/manager was VERY friendly.
It was a beautiful place When we arrived (2pm) it was closed, although the staff arrived shortly. The bathroom does not have shower facilities, only bathtub... we missed the shower.
Nice hotel in a good location. I would prefer stone floor instead of carpet, to prevent allergies.
Excellent staff on reception and central location. Breakfast coffee - but it's awful everywhere in Italy. Why do they make such good coffee at all other times but not for breakfast? We had a very large bedroom but no proper shelves or drawers for clothes, just a wardrobe.
This hotel was perfect in every way including price, location and history.
The overall confort and the price/quality ratio
The history of the house, the location, the restaurant
Great location near Gubbio. Better if you have a car. Great place, beautifully restored. Excellent instalations and rooms, very modern hotel situated at countryside near Gubbio with a wonderfull view of the valleys surrounding it. I definitively recomend to stay at this hotel. The best hotel i stayed in Italy. Be carefull with your GPS instructions as the hotel is in the countryside, with small roads surrounding it.
Exellent!! According to the description on booking.com the hotel has a restaurant. This is true but when we visited it was closed except in the weekend.
The facility is spotless, nearly new, and surrounded by the most beautiful countryside in Italy. The exterior is faux-rustic, but the interior is cool Italian contemporary design, a delightful juxtaposition. Breakfast was wonderful, the best I enjoyed in four weeks of staying in B&Bs in Italy. I visited in mid-May, and the resort's restaurant and pool were not yet open for the season.
The elegance and comfort of rooms and the friendliness of the staff
It's clseness to the town centre Very little activity at night. ie Bar was empty and no one serving.
Made to feel very welcome - given a glass of wine on arrival. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was very pleasant. No
Spacious room, available parking.
the amability of hotel staff no
Very friendly staff and personnel. Spacious room, (welcome drink and even flowers!) Very good restaurant with a cosy atmosphere. Indoor car-parking.
The staff were just wonderful, attentive ad helpful. The hotel is within 15mins walking distance to the town centre, which makes it perfect. My room was large, airy and very comfortable. The food in the restaurant is pretty decent and hearty. All in all, a very pleasant stay. I'd go back again.
Welcome drink at the room. Indoor car parking. Location next to highway
The staff were very welcoming and the walk into 'il cenro storico' was not the hike some reviewers had made it out to be
very peaceful close to Citte D Castello
at the reception Andrea was extremely helpful
Food was good Very difficult to find being in the old town. Air conditioning did not work in room. One of bathroom lights not working leaving room dim. Check out slow due to old computer/ printer. Tired old hotel.
Wonderful staff, wonderful restaurant, great location (maybe not very popular but Montone is beautiful) and great value for money.
The place is wonderful, it new, comfortable and relaxing, with charming view to the Umbian hills (it beats Tuscany!) and a lovely old town 300 mts. from the door. Ideal for those who travels by car.
Very nice hotel, newly furnished, great shower, nice views and great swimming pool. Food in the restaurant was excellent. Service at the hotel was exceptional. Our room was very small with an extra bed in it which we did not book, but I think they were not bothered to remove it.
rooms, the beds, breakfast & staff is ok. If you go for relaxing & quite & peacefullness we would not recommend this hotel. Noise! During the day loud noise of construction work and in the weekend loud music party's next to your room. This is probably a good hotel for groups?!
Highly recommended, hotel and surroundings are beautiful
It had a wonderful setting and the staff were very helpful. We enjoyed our lunch and dinner at the hotel. The showers are in poor condition and the cold water had no pressure so it was difficult to get a proper shower without scalding oneself. The mattresses are also hard and old.
beautiful landscape, very friendly staff lousy food, no waterpreassure in room, smelly room
Very quiet, scenic location in the country side
