Fantastic location, great room - fabby spa bath, amazing food and attentive service - altogether first class!! loved everything!!
Outside the hotel looks nice The room we had was damp ! It was dirty, the chairs had rips in them, the blankets were very old,the sheets were very thin,a tile had fallen off the bathroom wall, paint had come off the tap in the bedroom. Outside the swimming pool had green algae hanging from the roof inside and one of the glass doors was just propped up against the door frame at the side of the pool.
A beautiful setting near to lovely beaches. The family suites we stayed in were a little shabby considering the price. We had booked an ajoining room but were given two separate rooms which we didn't want. The hotel staff were nice but not particularly accommodating.
Very quiet chateau in the country. The room was large and comfortable. Very difficult to find the hotel. The GPS coordinates provided are not quite accurate. Advice is to travel to the hotel in daylight.
Abeautiful place with old charm and drama. Walks form hotel were good. Decor was querky and unique. Really comfortable beds and very clean. the family room was perfect with 2 young children. The swimming pool needed to be warmer and the tennis court needs looking after.
Very relaxed atmosphere in a photogenic setting of a 14th century Chateau! Room was large with tapestry on wall above very comfortable ( but low) bed. Bathroom very quaint but everything worked! We only had dinner once during our stay, as we wanted to sample other establishments in the area. Restaurant in the luxury class, with immaculate service, good food and extensive if rather expensive wine list. The half bottles are hidden at the back of the wine list!! (You can also order house wine by the glass as well.) Swimming pool was very good, did not sample any of the other hotel facilities. WiFi ( weak signal) worked only in public areas. Breakfasts were buffet style with very good selection for the money. Big concern, dont rely on the driving instructions to the hotel, provided by Booking.com. You will end up in a field 4-5 kms away near Port Morvan. The locals have never heard of Domaine du Val, as it is a generic term and signpost in the area for other hotels and accomodation! We spent about 90 minutes cruising around Port Morvan & eventually had to phone the hotel in desperation. The hotel was aghast at the directions provided by Booking.com. From 2009, we are not the first to experience this. The correct sat nav co-ordinates are [ n 48.54719 x w 2.60111 ] The hotel is signposted correctly from Plangenoual - large sign near the Zephr bar as Chateau du Val 3 kms away towards coast, then low brown signs as Chateaux du Val - not Domaine !
The hotel was full of character with wonderful grounds. The family room was ideal (two rooms split with a shared bathroom). They provided a cot for our baby and were very accomodating, even providing us a side room for dining with the baby.
It was very peaceful and the location was what I was looking for The standard of cleanliness was poor, the swimming pool was cold, and needed a clean. The second swimming pool was full of decaying frogs and mice. Definately not good value for the price I paid
Very friendly welcome, beautiful chateau A little shabby
oue "romantic" room was not really romantic but was "tetro" (italian) and clening wasn't good peccato....
good breakfast small room
It was exactly what I expected, a nice clean room with a tv and drink making facilities. Also there was a car park out side, with no charge. Nothing
The room. Proximity to the railway station.
Very nice hotel and value for money. Right in the centre by the train station. Don't let this put you off as we nere heard any of the trains. Good Facilities and friendly staff.
The hotel was clean, the staff friendly, and there is a 24h access to the hotel. Close (15 km) to the coast. The location is poor: the town of Lamballe has not much to offer.
Nice staff, nice and clean hotel, excellent location oposit to the Train Station in Lamballe
Although the hotel was quite compact everything was incredibly organised and of a high standard of cleanliness. Nothing
Convenient location - just opposite the train station and not far from the historical centre of Lamballe. Friendly and attentive staff. Rooms comfortable and clean. WI-FI, coffee machine in room. Good buffet breakfast. Good value for money
Locality within easy reach of restaurants and shops Nothing
There were not internet wifi conections
Friendly Hotel stuff and Restaurant served very good food Rooms very old and missing some basic things like shower curtain
Good hotel & restaurant . Very helpful & friendly staff . Good food when restaurant open Mon to Fri. Location not so good on industrial estate but ok as touring base.Restaurant not open Sat & Sun . Room smelled a bit of smoking
The restaurant was good. The Manager was very pleasant Is situated in an industrial/commercial area
It was just what we wanted - a hotel close to the N12 for an overnight stopover.
We received a very warm welcome, the staff were all very friendly and efficient and the bar area was cosy and with nice decor. The breakfast choice was also good. No, except that we didn't think the restaurant (menu and presentation of food) was of the usual 'Inter-Hotel' standard.
hotel manager and wife very friendly - restaurant food was excellent and the service was very good ..choice of wines very good for 2 star rated hotel rooms were dated but ok for overnight- small tv with poor reception -no international news
the manager and manageress were extremely welcoming and all the other staff we met were friendly too. we used the hotel purely as a stop-over for our travels and it met our needs. no free wi-fi available and no hair dryer in rooms
The Proprietor and his wife both spoke very good english and were very friendly. The service was very good and the food and service in the restaurant were very high standard.
Staff were friendly (once they had made an appearance). Breakfast was good (for a continental). They were happy to let us bring our bikes indoors (can't imagine many British hotels doing this). Hotel was very pleasant inside and rooms were fine. Reception not manned (or womanned!) on Sunday, so we had to fend for ourselves somewhat. Location was further out of town that I realised (obviously not their fault) and in the inevitable ZI, past the abbatoir!
The evening meals were excellent, unusual menus, beautifully presented dishes and very good service.
Good location, very good hotel, excellent breakfast Needs more lights in the bedroom, quite dark
The setting was excellent, the room full of character and the food was delicious. Staff were very friendly.
The evening gourmet dinners were the highlight of the stay in this pretty country hotel. The staff were very very welcoming. Lovely garden to sit out in have a pre dinner drink.
Very helpful and attentive staff and the rooms are excellent value for money.
Good welcome. Provided a meal even though dining room had just closed. Very friendly, lovely setting and location, but difficult to find - a local person showed us the way in her car with us following. Only booked one night as a stop over, but would have enjoyed a longer stay
staff very helpful; restaurant highly recommended; toilet in room clean but area minute
The service attitude of the staff was very good and the atmosphere nice and quiet
Beautiful location, very quiet location, yet easy to reach.
Lovely old building, friendly staff, good food, pleasant country location outside the town.
