Close to Albrook Airport Neighborhood is calm and beatiful wooded and pleasant place
picked the place because it was close to the airport. thought it would make departure easier. Only good thing in the stay was diner--and I complement the chef.... very tasty. the hotel itself was a bust. Even the price, which was $55, was too much for what you got. Life lesson learned--sometimes you certainly get less than what you pay for.... the room was barely adequate and smelled like cat urine. the neighborhood was totally uninviting... very dark and isolated feeling. the restaurant was ok--but the complementary breakfast was a total joke... cold coffee, cold toast, one slice of mystery lunch meat, one slice of plastic wrapped process cheese stuff. nothing else!! if nothing else, the coffee should have been fresh and hot. when I commented that the coffee was cold, I was brought a second cup that was equally cold.
We arrived in Panama from the US late on a Tuesday evening and took a cab straight to Albrook Inn ($35 USD from Tocumen, about 30-35 minutes). We had an early morning flight to San Blas, so the location of the hotel was absolutely perfect for us (the hotel is a 2-3 min cab ride to Albrook airport). The staff was very accommodating (even with our limited Spanish) and helped us arrange a taxi to the nearby 24 hour grocery store to pick up some supplies that we needed for our trip. And also arranged a cab for us in the morning. The room was clean and adequate, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was newly updated and nicer than expected. Because we were not there in daylight hours we didn't get a chance to enjoy the grounds but it seemed quite green and lush and lovely and we would definitely stay there again, particularly due to its proximity to the regional airport. The room was very basic, but more than adequate.
Very close to Albrook airport, so even though my alarm did not go off at the right time, the desk clerk was able to get a cab for me and I was there in a few minutes for my early domestic flight to Bocas Town. I was put in a room on the ground level, right next to the entrance. There was noise from late arrivals, guests roaming, and what sounded like a smoke alarm with a spent battery, beeping every few seconds. I arrived late and had an early flight to catch, so this was definitely not appreciated.
