Hotel Cavour Et Des Officiers - Bard - Building
1
9.8 Excellent (360 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Cavour et des Officiers in Bard, you'll be steps from Bard Fortress and Le Alpi dei Ragazzi Museum. Featured amenities include multilingual staff, luggage storage, and an elevator (lift). Free self parking is available onsite.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location, all inclusive room, breakfast, parking and exhibitions. Helpful staff booked a restaurant
Cons: Unfortunately there was no-one duty for us to check out on time
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was fine. Lots of good coffee!
Cons: I don't know...we will have to come again a second time and look for something to improve!!!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: the view, and the trip up to the hotel via a funicular. hotel is different, as in an old fort. makes for an interesting stay.
Cons: only two restaurants in town - one of which has three tables and a limited menu. plan ahead if you wish to eat out, as the hotel does not have a restaurant. wifi - you have to have a phone to which the password is sent - not good, as in our case we did not have working phones. this should be rectified as I'm sure a lot of travelers do not bother adding sim cards - we used ipads for contact purposes.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is amazing and it is definitively worth a visit. To expend the night inside a fort is an unique experience. The junior suite is really comfortable. Museums and exhibitions are included in the stay. The concierge, Deborah, is very friendly and helpful.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is what makes this hotel so unique including the 4 elevators to get to the hotel from the base. We enjoyed the exhibitions and museum with our stay which is the main attraction in the area. We also had access to the fort after hours when everything else closed so it felt like our own private place! There were no other guests staying that night (Sunday) because the fort is closed on Mondays which we didn't know at the time.
Cons: The hotel is secondary to the fort so don't expect full time reception or anyone but night service available after the fort closes at 7pm. There is no restaurant on site for dinner so you need to go to a restaurant in Bard or Hone which is walking distance away but the options were limited on a Sunday night. The first elevator was not working when we arrived making it seem like more of an adventure to access the hotel.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Place Kindness Rooms
Cons: Nothing
8.3 Excellent
Pros: This place is amazing. It’s definitely a challenge to get there but it is worth it. The views from our balcony were amazing!!
Cons: There is no restaurant at the fort so you need to travel down to the village which is a bit tricky and the access outside of visitor hours is not straightforward.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous historic property, with wonderful helpful and courteous staff. Rooms were clean and well appointed.
Cons: Parking is in a multi-storey car park with a height limit of 2.1m. Access is then via lift and funicular although if you ask the hotel will come and assist in a golf buggy. You need to travel light.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was interesting experience to have a night in the fort. In the morning I could go around the fort everywhere. Museums and exhibitions are included in the stay and it is nice. The staff was very helpful.
Cons: The room design is too plain, especially the plain grey carpet on the floor. We expected more interesting (castle-like) design of the rooms. There is no kettle in the room, you have to go a floor down for the coffee. It took us lot of time to find the way to the hotel's parking.

Pros: Very pleasant family-run B&B. Clean and quiet and comfortably close to the motorway. Breakfast with "a personal touch".
Cons: Just a little bit further away from the National Parc Gran Paradiso than expected. Breakfast with only sweet stuff. Perhaps add some cheeses ? A little fridge in the room would be a big plus (we had 30° temps).

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice place with a personal touch from the owner. Amazing breakfast - home made or from the neighborhood products. Close to Point St martin, a nice village.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Simona is an extremely gracious and helpful host. Her experience in the hospitality industry is obvious. She provided great information about sites to see, places to explore and great food to experience. Her breakfast feast is amazing: Homemade bread, pastries, jams, cheeses, yogurt, fresh fruits, charcuterie, eggs, coffee and juice. The Lys Valley is a fantastic area to experience, with B&B Maison Vallomy as your home base!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We gave the owner our detailed impression. For this medium , suffice to say that this B&B is not to be missed.
Cons: That we had to leave
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! So we arrived in the village and the first thing we found is the welcoming smile of Simone who came to meet us at the bus stop to take us to the B&B. Then you arrive to this beautiful building at the top of the hill. Our room was beautiful and cosy. Then you get up in the morning, go down for breakfast and find another welcoming smile, Simona :) The breakfast room is beautiful and what can I say about the breakfast. OMG!! all home made by Simona. Delicious. Anyway to sum it up .... one of the best B&B's ever. Well done to Simona and Simone as you can tell that they do enjoy and love what they do. Very welcoming and helpfull. Was a pleasure to meet you guys and hope we can stay friends.
Cons: The only thing is that you do not have a TV set in the room, which at first I wasn't very happy about. BUT after our stay I can totally understand why you don't have a TV in your room. With that beautiful surroundings and fresh air who needs to sit in the room and watch TV. I didn't miss it at all.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous location overlooking the town and valley. Easy access to outdoor activities. Fantastic host with lots of helpful information and bountiful breakfast.
Cons: Parking is a little far away, but manageable.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Amazing view. Fresh mountain air. Helpful and nice owner. She is very kind. Parking spot was very important to me and it's definitely enough.
Cons: Room was that we stayed little bit small. Breakfast could be better. Tomatoes, olives etc. (There is Italy, right?) One towel has two woman hair inside. I guess this was laundry companies' fault.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting and very welcoming host!

Cons: Breakfast wasn't as impressive as we'd hoped.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our experience at Masoun dou Caro was excellent. Alfredo sent an email to let us know when he'd be at the property for check-in. Pros: Wonderful location. Very spacious. Excellent, very friendly host. Excellent breakfast.
Cons: Bathroom cleanliness could be rated at 9/10. There were minor details in this area that could be improved, like dirt in hard to reach places. But nothing of much importance. Overall, very good cleanliness.

Pros: This is a lovely apartment right in the heart of Bard with the Castle only a short walk away. It has great facilities and a place to park the car if you have one. Check in is not until 6pm but that didnt matter to us because we spent time at the castle! Our breakfast was amazing too!

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Such a cozy, comfortable apartment in a historic building in the midieval town of Bard. Great location, and a very friendly host. Breakfast is plentiful and varied. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Cons: We were in the twin room. An additional pillow would be welcome. Otherwise, everything was wonderful! Visitors should note that this is an up or downhill walk from parking/train. This was a benefit for us (it was quiet and peaceful) but be prepared for a walk.

If you love staying in a quiet beautiful place surrounded by nature, I would highly recommend this place!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful hospitality, great food, amazing view.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We very much enjoyed our 11 nights at Marcellina. Wibke and Francesco are great hosts and gave us many good recommendations for hikes, restaurants and river swimming. Wibke even made a special breakfast for our Nordic needs. Also they were very accomodating towards our dog. We loved the location in the middle of nature and didn't mind driving a bit through authentic cosy small villages to get to other hiking areas. We will recommend at least a 1 week stay and 2 is even better.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The house is very cosy, the views are amazing and Wibke & Fransesco we’re extremely kind and helpfull! We arrived late and they made sure we had some little snacks to eat. They also went through a lot of trouble to sent us our forgotten bagage! Super gratefull for that!
Cons: For a ‘Bed & Breakfast’ the breakfast could be a little better. Besides that, everything was fantastic!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was super perfect! What we loved: Friendly, welcoming and warm hosts Wibke and Francesco - their knowledge and experience about the surroundings and skills of communication made our stay incredible: we hiked, travel and experienced the best of Aosta Valley; Comfortable and clean room; The traditional Italian dinner was amazing - tasty food, fantastic service and great value for money; Breakfast! We travel quite a lot, but we didn’t see such original, fresh and tasty way to serve breakfast; View from the room - OMG! Once again, the Hosts - they just sincerely love what they do and we were very happy about them!
Cons: That we had a chance to stay only for 3 nights.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We liked its secluded snd stunning location and abandoned beautiful town Chemp close by but you should know that its location and reaching it is a real adventure and there is no shops and restaurants within 15 min winding drive range, just to have your expectation right and equip yourself well. Room is comfortable and there is a espresso machine in the room with plenty coffee and tea bags, micro wave, fridge, breakfast package (breads, cockies, milk, butter, orange juice, apples etc), etc. So,,, no proper dinner and no alcoholic drinks there.
Cons: The room description says it is 30m2 but due to the fact the room is below roof effective space is more like 20m2.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staying at B&B Marcellina was the best way to start our holiday. We booked our stay really last minute and arrived late, but Wibke was so flexible and nice and still offered us dinner. Together with Francesco they served us the most amazing 5-course dinner we could have wished for, with home made bread, vegetables from the garden and local ingredients. It was truly impressive. The room is also really great and comfortable, with amazing views on the mountains. We would recommend this place to everyone and wished we could have stayed longer! Thank you so much Francesco and Wibke for your kindness and hospitality!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were very kind to light the fireplace for us. Ambience for the place was relaxing. Views from the room was spectacular. Host advised us of practical things such as to prepared food (since the place was far from city center) and advised about trails, places to visit, etc. Host tried to make our stay most convenient.
Cons: Nothing really. Everything was great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Simply amazing! Everything was perfect! The hosts were very friendly, the rooms cosy, very clean and warm, we had everything that we need. I strongly recommend this location, the view is also amazing! if you want to escape the agitation if the city, here is the perfect place!

Pros: Very Friendly, proactive and kind owners, Family type breakfast. Very nice and attentive to details renovation of an old building.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The owner was very kind and friendly with us. The property is in a refurbished old house; it has just two rooms, but the finishing and width are worth a 4* hotel. The silence at night is uncomparable. Breakfast with grandmother-baked cookies. Truly, one of the best stay in our life.
Cons: The property is located in a small lonely village and it is a bit difficult to locate and identify it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic social room, e.g. for the good breakfast and the pizzas we picked up. Beautiful room with very nice interiors. Very good coffee machine, full kitchen. The hotel is 2km from Pont-Saint-Marin, along a nice alpine road with interesting landscape and limited traffic. It is a good paved road, but a bit narrow.
Cons: It was a bit difficult to find the room. There are house numbers along the road so it was no problem to find the neighbourhood, but we did not find any sign at the road. When we asked a neighbour, we got very positive guidance.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I had a wonderful week at Le Petit Coeur. It's a beautifully renovated old house, all in wood and stone. The hosts were super nice and were keen to communicate despite the language barrier - here the smartphone translator came handy. I admired the views, the tranquility and remoteness of the place, which however came along with the necessity to have a car to get there. The extra bonus was the breakfast, an abundant selection of exclusively home-made or local food. Hope to come again soon.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Valentina and her family are super kind. The room is very clean and charming, it has a fire place. The breakfast is complete with handmade products of the area. The views and the surroundings are gorgeous. We arrived late at midnight, due to bad weather conditions, and they came to welcome us. Indeed, they called us several times and contacted by SMS during evening because they were suffering for us. When we arrived at the room we found a handwritten note with instructions and a bunch of fresh blackberries (attached photo).

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Perfect couple of days at Al Castel, Fabio and his wife were lovely and made sure we had everything we needed plus provided information on walks etc in the local area. The accommodation was comfortable and very clean and we enjoyed just relaxing on the balcony having a glass of wine and enjoying the view Breakfast was tip top with plenty of choice and good pastries. We had a couple of great walks from Al Castel, one along the wine route to Bard enjoying the medieval quarters of Donnas & Bard and the old Roman road and a more taxing walk up to Castle Cly at Chambave both with fantastic views. We also had a very good night out in Pont Saint Martin, the locals were very friendly and we very much enjoyed their hospitality. Pont Saint Martin is a very good base for the Aosta valley with most activities within a comfortable driving distance or you can leave the car parked up and use the train: Aosta or Turin and everything in between. I would not hesitate to recommend Al Castel.

Cons: A lot of steep stairs to go from one floor to the other.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice and helpful personnel.
Cons: A little bit difficult to find.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable and cosy B&B, good breakfast, friendly staff and very good location for a stopover on our way back to England from central Italy. You can also have dinner on site which is a bonus, although we would probably have preferred to order a la carte rather than have the set menu as we couldn't eat it all! But they had a good children's option and generally were very accommodating for children.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Is it possible to give a hotel a score higher than 10? If so, this would be the place. We loved every single thing about LeCoeur du Pont. Donnas is the most charming village I've ever seen. And the historic home that houses the hotel now was built in the 1300s. Much of the original structure is still visible, and the decor (I don't know if it's Medieval or from that house, but it's old and beautiful) is perfect. The owner is an excellent chef. We had the set meal the first night we were there, and it was to die for. VERY good and priced well for what you get. The second night, we were the only guests, and we didn't want her to go to so much trouble, so we asked for spaghetti. Best we ever had. And breakfast! OMG.
Cons: The parking area is a little hard to find. Ask the owner for directions, or look online (I found the lot easily because I found another traveler's comments and printed them off). Google Maps won't get you there.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hostess went to extra lengths to ensure we could have a pleasant drink and nibble in the courtyard, despite our very late arrival.
Cons: Breakfast was a little light on choice.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This lovely little establishment has the full flavor of a mountain home. And wonderful staff that bring it to life
Cons: We are older so,stairs were our only challenge. Nonetheless the staff carried our vast amount of luggage...with a smile.

Pros: The owner is extremely helpful and takes care to make you feel at home from the first moment. The cuisine is delicious and rich - and focuses on the typical flavours and products of the region. Rooms are comfortable and clean, cozy and warm. The price was low for such a great experience. Looking forward to visit again. The location is, simply, breathtaking, with a view on the entire valley.
Cons: The common bathroom was very cold in the morning!

Cons: The weather!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was simply perfect for us: quiet and relaxation in the mountains but possible to visit Torino, Genoa and castles on Aosta valley (some at only 40 minutes drive). Excellent staff, very nice rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best place I ever stayed during my traveling. Beautiful place, the owner is shef with 25-year experience made made our breakfasts and dinners unforgettable and like-in family cosiness and warm. We were the group of 8 people that were driving to ski in the nearest ski resort Gressoney but definitely we will stay there in summer. Highly recommended.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice place where we spent a night on our way to Cinque Terre. Sabrina, the owner, is a very kind person who warmly welcomed us on our arrival. The room and the bathroom were nice, clean and equipped with everything we needed. The breakfast was very good in the morning. Thank you, Sabrina.
7.0 Good
Pros: Lovely welcome and well laid out, just OK for a one night stop.
Cons: I have marked this B & B down because although we knew our room would be a double bed or a twin room we did not expect tiny narrow twin beds were one turn sent the duvet off the bed and resulted in a very poor nights sleep. The beds were more suited to children than adults.

Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location. Lovely owners. Very nice restaurant owned by hotel nearby.
Cons: No AC on what was a very warm sultry night made sleep difficult, but wouldn’t be a problem in normal weather for the area.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful spot, great breakfast, great host. Other guests were nice and excited to be there. Hotel was quite clean and looks recently redone. Two restaurants walking distance away.
Cons: 30 degrees and no AC, made room hit until it cooled off with mountain air.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Amazing breakfast
Cons: Room with no view when better rooms were available
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Ernesto & his family were so welcoming over three days in May - great time of year to visit. This was a top rate stay that included a window into the culture and the people of the region. Highlights most certainly is the breakfast and the view. You can anticipate a full spread, provided in assistance with their sister restaurant featuring fresh make your own fruit juices, a curated spread of local meats and cheeses, and a giant block of butter. Yes, you read correctly. The drive up isn't for the faint of heart, but it was fun and exhilarating. Slight issue was waking up to find ants in the room but they were quickly sprayed and cleaned up upon request. Ernesto is a riot, we laughed every morning even thought we couldn't fully understand each other.
Cons: We had a small issue with ants in the room. The management quickly addressed in the morning.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Distinctive style and secluded location, beer and snacks included, thousands TV channels (hard to navigate and some don't work, though) Staff super helpful and lots of sweet options for breakfast.
Cons: The room was smallish and there's no duvet cover but a top sheet only (which seems to be common in Italy but not so much further north).

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Much bigger than it looks on photos. Full apartment. Great kitchen and living room. Fridge stocked with beer, prosseco and soft drinks. Biscuits, coffee, chocolates! Bathroom products, even for kids. Breakfast like I have never seen!! Amazing. Kids were given a soft toy each to leave with. All for 52€ ??? Don’t know how Laura makes money!!
Cons: Nothing. We have travelled a lot and for value for money, nothing can beat it!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, comfortable, friendly The bed was arranged so neatly with chocolates, really nice. Very dog friendly. The breakfast was very tasty and lots of choice. Good coffee too.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Laura who met us was very nice and gentle. The apartment is very clean and cozy, the breakfast was delicious. Nice italian-style apartment to stay during weekend.
Cons: The location of apartment was stated a little incorrectly and Google maps leaded to a bit different place.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We arrived very late (11 pm) and left early (8 am), but no problem for our host. A very kind lady who prepared us a lovely breakfast at 7 am.
Cons: -
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We entered a well designed old Italian apartment instead of a room. Very kind hospitality and complete Italian breakfast. Highly recommended. I would choose it again.
Cons: The baby bed was a bit small.
7.0 Good
Pros: Laura is very friendly and provided us a wonderful breakfast! There was so much she allowed us to wrap up and take it for our lunch! She went out of her way to get our Via Francigena credentials stamped by the parish priest while we ate this morning. The location is very quiet and right on the Via Francigena alternative route. The beds are comfortable.
Cons: Wifi is advertised but it was impossible to get online, even very spotty to get data on 4G. This is understandable, since the location is at the base of a hill but this should be taken off the listing.
