Pros: I loved our room, the included Breakfast was great, dinner was also very good even though it was not included. We had dinner thee for three night. I loved walking in the gardens after hour and swimming in the volcano iron water pool every night. Amazing nature to be discovered around.
Pros: I had a feeling I was in a fairy tale.
Pros: The geothermal pool and natural jacuzzis made it a truly unique experience. Nothing on the island compares! Breakfast was delicious
Cons: Room could have included a few more amenities - tissue paper, hair conditioner, tea/coffee Breakfast could have had more veggies on offer Dinner service felt a bit outdated (e.g. many waiters waiting on few tables, stale atmosphere)
Pros: The location of this hotel is what makes it. I have never been anywhere so beautiful and relaxing. Worth every single penny just for the gardens and 24hr use of the thermal pools
Cons: The only down side to the entire stay was the fact the room had an adjoining door - not a problem in itself however there is absolutely no soundproofing between rooms. We could hear the people in the next room snoring, sneezing, coughing, even using the toilet! Also we were near a lift which beeps extremely loudly every time it opens and closes, very annoying at 3am!
Located in Povoacao, Furnas Boutique Hotel Thermal & Spa is within a 15-minute walk of Caldeiras das Furnas and Terra Nostra Park. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Staff is exceptional, facilities are gorgeous with 24hr termal pool access. Welcoming atmosphere, customer centred, yet professional. We were very impressed and will definitely return.
Pros: Everything was great. Great breakfast. Swimming pool and spa are fabulous. Beds and pillows are very comfortable.
Pros: Our stay here was so relaxing. Gorgeous, modern boutique hotel which really embraces the natural beauty of Furnas. Exception staff and amazing spa facilities made this trip really great. Lovely little extras like home made cookies and a lovely massage oil as a “Thank you” gift
Pros: The pools are amazing and hot! The staff are so helpful and friendly. Especially Leonardo and the concierges! They also have a daily free activity, it’s short but so lovely. The location I’d also great, you can walk to almost everything within 15 minutes. They even gave us a few mini gifts in the room.
Cons: Mattress is a little firm.
Pros: Pools! The one outdoor is just amazing! It’s an incredible experience be in the pool by midnight with the sky full of stars and the moon
Pros: Great location and amenities.
Pros: Fantastic hotel nestled in the small village of Furnas. The hotel staff was amazing, quickly answering any questions we had about the hotel and surrounding area. We were even greeted by the Hotel General Manger. Make sure to eat at A Terra. You can tell they put a lot of love into what they do. Delicious food that will be missed upon return to the US. A true gem.
Pros: Staying here was fabulous. it was situated in such a nice area, with access to key areas. spent many days out hiking and exploring surrounding areas and could always count on coming back to a clean room, a nice meal and relax in the hot pools.
Cons: The shower was enjoyable, but the way the shower was laid out left much to desire. There was no door, and the window was not long enough to contain the water. This resulted in water always getting on the floor and soaking towels.
Pros: This was a beautiful hotel that had great amenities and an incredibly kind and helpful staff. The breakfast that is included is amazing! And the dinner there is also spectacular. The indoor / outdoor geothermal pools are incredible, as well.
Cons: I was disappointed that i wasn't able to get a spa service day-of. Apparently, you have to book those way in advance. I ended up going to a different hotel in town, but it would have been great to do it at my hotel. Perhaps keep a couple of spots open for day-of bookings for hotel guests? Also, and I think this might be a Portugal thing, but the beds are kinda hard.
When you stay at Convento de São Francisco in Vila Franca do Campo, you'll be near the beach and 5 minutes by car from Praia Lagoa do Fogo Trail. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk and laundry facilities. Guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge, and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Everything. Magic place.
Pros: The Convento is delightful! We were so impressed with its history and the very careful attention to detail that maintains the atmosphere. The furnishings, various terraces, the roof top, the halls, the cloister, the gardens - all heightened the sense of place and history. The bathroom was well planned and equipped. The entire facility was very clean. Breakfast was delicious, the fresh pineapple was addictive. Our hosts were SO gracious! The location was very convenient for exploring all of the island. We highly recommend staying for at least three days to fully experience the Convent.
Cons: As it was quite hot during our stay a portable room fan would have helped at night.
Pros: Character, quiet and peaceful, amazing building
Cons: The room had some mold
Pros: Huge, comfortable room, working fireplace, fabulous breakfast, country atmosphere in town.
Pros: Beautiful big rooms, with amazing views of the island opposite. Beautiful gardens around, very friendly host. Loved the breakfast room and the delicious watery pineapples.....

Bem Estar Dona Adelina is located in Ponta Garça, 25 km from Ponta Delgada and 16 km from Furnas, in the southern part of the São Miguel Island of the Azores archipelago. Each room is identified after the names of the various islands or the archipelago and comes with a TV and free WiFi. Featuring a bath or shower, the private bathroom also comes with free toiletries. Guests may enjoy sea or a garden view from the rooms. The property includes a renewable energy system. Guests may cook their own meals in the equipped communal kitchen at their disposal and also to wash and dry clothes in the laundry. In the town of Furnas, 14 km away, guests may visit the various restaurants and taste the famous Furnas Stew, cooked in the natural boilers by the Furnas Lagoon. The scenic Fire Lagoon is 27 km away and Ponta Delgada is a 25-minute drive away. On the western side of the island guests can visit the famous Sete Cidades Lagoon. The harbour with boat connections to the other Azorean islands is within 30 km. Bem Estar Dona Adelina is a 30-minute drive from Ponta Delgada Airport.
Pros: The landlady is very kind. Frequently brought fresh fruit and surprises from her farm. The place have a good view to either the ocean or a calm, beautiful garden.
Cons: The wooden steps are a bit noise and the wall do not block noise so well. Can be a problem only if another moves around very early or very late.
Pros: Owner is a wonderful lady with a very warm heart!
Cons: The window was to the street and street noise was very loud.
Pros: It's a small fairly new place run by a couple who live in Ponta Delgada so they aren't always there. The woman greeted us there and what a reception! She really took the time to explain about the place and show us around. There were embroidered souvenir towels and a large bottle of water as a gift. Very clean all over, no en suite in our room (we had the Graciosa room) but a spacious bathroom 5m from the room. There is a lovely garden to relax in. The town isn't very lively but that can be expected going to a small village like that.
Cons: Besides being in a small village, which you know when booking the place, the only thing I can think of is the noise of the occasional car going by, often quite fast. On these streets that makes considerable noise. That's only a minor problem because there isn't a constant traffic. And it's only on the street side.
Pros: If I was a poet, I would write a "Poem to Dona Adelina of Ponta Garca". But being an engineer, I may only count the facts: Location-very convenient to reach all tourist destinations, and numerous beaches; also-close to local supermarket and 2 steps from the wonderful home made bread bakery (a must to try) House exterior-appealing, nice to walk into; parking-right there, and always available Individual bedrooms - very comfortable, with high ceilings, well furnished, and tastefully decorated; all beds were of high quality, with firm new mattresses; linen and towels-impeccably clean; towels changed during our stay; bathrooms-sparkly clean, hot water always available; kitchen-equipped with all necessities, large enough for cooking and dining there, with good refrigerators and exhaust hood; family room-with cozy couches, TV and games; washing and drying machines (not one, but two sets) - very convenient, new and clean garden-big, well maintained and ready for the full day of relaxation; Wi-Fi-high quality, never failed; windows-new, easy to operate; overall feel in the house-good, not crowded, But the best feature of the house-it's hostess, Helena, the woman of such energy, good humor, and motherly attention to her guests. She not only supplied each room with helpful information about the island and the surrounding communities, but was constantly helping us with any information needed, delivered some fruits and veges, immediately responded to any request and sometimes read our mind before we could ask for something. Our stay there, that was a reunion of 5 couples, felt like we came to visit the closest relative. Thank you,Helena, for keeping such a home, and being such a person. You made this island vacation one of the best!
Cons: Each room has the ceiling light. We could recommend to add ceiling fans to those. The desk type fans that are available in each room were not that effective, and sometimes noisy. In the bathrooms, to add some stands or shelves for the toiletries
Pros: We had a wonderful stay, Helena is a extremely kind host, the place is near a great beach and at the side of the island that has better weather compared to the north side. Everything is available to use including the very nice garden.
Pros: Everything else was just fine.
Cons: The pillows were too tall and tough.
Located in Vila Franca do Campo, Pestana Bahia Praia is a 4-minute drive from Praia Lagoa do Fogo Trail and 5 minutes from Nossa Senhora do Rosario Church. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and multilingual staff. Planning an event in Vila Franca do Campo? This hotel has facilities measuring 4036 square feet (375 square meters), including conference space. Guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge, and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Wonderful location with large, well-kept rooms. Great landscaping of the grounds. The design is a bit dated, but it seems they got a bit of an update with the change of ownership.
Cons: The food wasn‘t particularly appealing. When we were there, the Nova restaurant was closed, and the buffet-style lugar de praia wasn‘t four star.
Pros: The bed was comfortable. The room was clean. The views were beautiful.
Cons: It was very warm in our room with the air conditioner on. When we asked the front desk about this he said the air conditioner goes on and off during the day and if we were hot that we should open the sliding door in our room. This was not a solution as with the door open we got flies into our room. The hotel needs a better and updated air conditioning system for guests to feel comfortable. We were there in November. I can’t imagine what it is like in the summer.
Pros: Breakfast was great. Room was comfortable and view was great!
Cons: Have more snack selections in the bar. On rainy days some suggestions on other places to visit etc.
Pros: Room (junior suite) was large, comfortable and clean with nice bathroom which had a bath and a separate shower cubicle. TV channels were ok but not great - picture quality was sometimes poor as reception presumably fluctuated. Wifi was good most of the time. Hotel location was good but not enough parking in the main car park for all the vehicles there. Breakfast was ok but not great. Pool and grounds were very nice and the outlook was stunning.
Cons: Breakfast quality was not as good as expected for a top quality hotel. Bacon was usually bordering on cold. Bread products / croissants were often not fresh. Fried eggs were available if you could find staff to do them otherwise it was the mass produced scrambled egg which again was often only lukewarm. There was only one of the advertised two restaurants open for evening meals and this offered a limited choice, fixed price menu which was seldom appealing to us so we ate off site every evening (luckily we had a hire car). It was a shame as this spoilt what was otherwise a nice stay at a nice hotel.
Pros: -views to die for -Amazing location -huge and comfortable room -huge bathroom as well with all the amenities
Pros: Service. Room. Beautiful grounds. Black sand beach. Breakfast!!!
Pros: The spa, the view, the room.8
Cons: The food for dinner was not very exciting.
Pros: The staff is good, from the front desk, to the restaurant, to housekeeping. The room was clean. Great location, right next to the beach, with direct access from the hotel's garden. The gardens look just like the presentation pictures. It's easy to move around the island from this location. There is a must-see attraction about 8 km (5 miles) from the hotel: Franca da Campo Island. The hotel is 5 minutes away from the highway. It took us about 25 minutes drive from the hotel to the airport.
Cons: Maybe not the best value for money. The days before we stayed 20 km away at a 5 star hotel for almost half the price. Same meal plan, beachfront property, roughly smaller room. It is a four star hotel, but our room only had part of the furniture in best shape. Some of the cabinets and lamps in the room had some wear and tear from years of use (it is normal). There is some age showing here and there, in the bathroom chrome elements (taps, shower head, shower door rim etc.) and the marble floors and sinks. Perhaps there is a plan to completely upgrade the hotel like the ones in the Pestana presentation channel running on tv.
Located in Povoacao, Hotel Vale Verde is by the ocean, within a 5-minute drive of Poca da Dona Beija and Lagoa das Furnas. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. For a surcharge, guests may use a roundtrip airport shuttle (available 24 hours) and a cruise ship terminal shuttle.
Pros: The family were helpful.
Cons: The shower & bed were basic. The traffic was always there as it is the main road into Furnas so became quite noisy.
Pros: Lovely place, quiet and clean. in centre of Furnas, walking distance to everywhere.
Pros: Good value for money. Excellent location in center of Furnas and close to food stores and restaurants. Free outdoor parking opposite the hotel. Adequate WiFi though could have been better. TV with international channels. Small balcony. Rooms were good size.
Cons: Everything was pretty much ok. Better WiFi would be good.
Pros: good location and good breakfast
Cons: rooms are quite old
Pros: The location is excellent, we were able to walk all around Furnas & easily drive around the island. The balconies have a beautiful view & the rooms are large. The staff were very friendly & gave us lots of advice about the local area. The continental breakfast is good & certainly filled us up. This hotel is great value for money & we will certainly be returning!
Pros: Amazing place! A paradise on a paradise island. Stunning views. Very clean and quiet. Eleni and Jorge are great hosts. Delicious homemade chocolate cake :-)
Pros: Our hosts Eleni and Jorge were amazing and their place is a true little heaven in Azores. We expected to have a guest room when in fact we had a whole guest house to ourselves. Breakfast arrangements were great.. the fridge was full of everything we needed, delicious homemade cake included. The property is right on the water and since it was still too cold in April for the swimming pool, i am sure we will be back one day to try it out.
Cons: Nothing really.
Pros: With the stunning views, beautiful accommodation, generous hospitality from the host it was impossible not to enjoy yourself.
Pros: Perfect place with the perfect hostes !

Pros: Our host Louis was really friendly and welcoming. The house is really artistic and colorful, it’s lovely to stay somewhere where there’s a family history of music and the arts. It’s a real gem
Pros: Wonderful location and fantastic house!
Cons: Not applicable
Pros: The reception by Luis was very friendly, the different facilities were very clean. Fresh towels every day, soap available,...
Cons: The bed was hard and cracked with every turn , the pillows were thick and hard as well. We didn't take the breakfast, but think it would be nice to have at least a few cups available and some possibilities to make coffee and tea for guests who don't take the breakfast.
Pros: The location was perfectly situated close to everything of importance in Furnas while still preserving it’s private character. Our host was very friendly and gave us a lot of information on the Island, its history and on what to do in Furnas or near Furnas. He was very helpful and kind.
Cons: Using the washer costs € 1 a piece, even for underpants. We felt like this was an exuberant price. We had the feeling that true hospitality came at an extra price, something we were not really used to from other places we stayed.
Pros: Walking Dinstance to Furnas City, Terra Nostra and Dona Beija. Beautiful Garden and nice rooms. Everything is very clean. Personal Touch if the family and good tips from the owner
Pros: First the garden is realy like a rainforest! Beautyful! Second, Louis the owner put a Hungarian flag on the post just for welcoming us. He is very nice, proud and friendly Azorian man! :) He was telling stories about he’s family and we had some Azorian liquor too.
Pros: Very clean and close to central Furnas. Luis the owner is very helpful.
Pros: Nice location but without any facility
Cons: Nice location but without any facility
Featuring free WiFi and a terrace, Rosa Ponte offers accommodation in Furnas, 7.7 km from Ribeira Quente beach. Rooms include a TV. Every room has a private bathroom. Fumarolas is 1 km from Rosa Ponte, while Ponta Delgada Airport is 34 km from the property.
Pros: Soooo relaxing... comfy bed... good vibes in the house...
Pros: Location was great, very central and everything was very clean. The bathroom separate from the room was a bit inconvenience but we got used to easily.
Cons: We had a good stay at Vale dos encantos, room was exactly as in the photos with private separate bathroom. Location was fantastic and host very friendly. All very clean and correct. We found it a bit overpriced but the area is very popular.
Pros: The location was great, and the room and bathroom were extremely clean.
Cons: The staff was very kind, very polite, but their was a language barrier, which made the process a bit more difficult. Usually we love to ask the host what local restaurants or attractions they recommend, but with the language barrier, we were not able to ask. Also, while we were fortunate to find parking within a block of the place, I would expect that finding ample parking during the busier summer months could prove challenging.
Pros: Great place to stay in and visit Furnas and the east side of the island. It was very comfortable, well located and clean. You can park 50m away
Pros: Very friendly owner, spacious room, everything was clean and as described. Big plus is the terrace, where you can relax in peace with w nice view to the inner yard. Comfortable bed. Quiet neighborhood, and good location in the centre.
Cons: It was a bit chilly (I was there in October so the temperatures outside aren't very high at night), and it takes quite a bit of time to warm the room up using the heater. Even then the bathroom stays quite cold. It's not very disturbing however :) The room was also quite dark. It would be great to have a kettle in the room, to be able to make tea/coffee, as there's no access to the kitchen.
Pros: Nice and spacious room, comfy bed
Cons: The bathroom was on a another floor
Pros: Good location; walking distance from thermal jacuzzis and Caldeiras. Comfortable and clean room :)
Pros: Furnas is the best small town in the world where I was. And I was in 150 countries. Pedestrian trails, volcanic activity and geysers. So much beauty around. Hot springs in the city itself. It is convenient to swim. The park is luxurious (also with hot baths). The place is beautiful. The house is beautiful. The woman is the proprietress - she is very nice, kind. We walked in the city and around the city for 8-10 hours a day! LAKE !!! mountain routes with rabbits that run everywhere. Waterfall lost in the forests near the lake. LIVE IN THIS GESTHOUSE! The most beautiful town of the Azores. Heaven on earth! Made 3000 photos of this place. Everywhere a lot of walking.
Cons: that you can not live in this beauty for several years. although.... why booking.com is not rated 11?
With a stay at Vista do Vale in Povoacao, you'll be in the mountains, within a 15-minute walk of Terra Nostra Park and Caldeiras das Furnas. Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and dry cleaning/laundry services. Free self parking is available onsite.
Located in Vila Franca do Campo, Vinha d'Areia Beach Hotel is by the ocean, within a 10-minute drive of Praia Lagoa do Fogo Trail and Nossa Senhora do Rosario Church. Featured amenities include a business center, a 24-hour front desk, and multilingual staff. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available on request), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The view on the ocean.
Cons: The hotel doesn’t have the wifi and elevator. The lady at the reception could be kinder, some people choose wrong profession. The breakfast is not good value for money. Bathroom should be cleaner.
Pros: The location was great and staff was friendly.
Cons: The room itself was way too small for what we paid. Also, wifi was not available in the room (only in the lobby) which was not what was advertised when we booked so that was disappointing. Being in a room near the breakfast hall was very unpleasant. It was loud and disruptive and there was no chance to sleep between 7:30 and 10 am when breakfast was out. Everyone slammed the doors and there was no sound proofing in the room.
Pros: The view was beautiful Convenient location, short walk into town. Nice size room
Cons: Surprised there was no elevator.
Pros: Right on the beach
Cons: Loud noise at night- work being done-
Pros: Everything was amazing ...the location was close to everything in Villa Franca de Campo.. our accommodations were spacious and comfortable with amazing ocean and marina views.. there is a cute balcony with an adorable little table for two to sit and enjoy the amazing views. Pillows were amazing and the room was spotlessly clean.. we would absolutely stay there again.❤️
Cons: There was nothing that we did not like❤️
Pros: Location is amazing, you have a great beach just near the hotel, and generally the town is cery small and beautiful. Nice breakfast, helpful staff. Great place to spend a couple of nights.
Cons: The rooms on the first floor can be accessed from the common terrace, so it's a bit uncomfortable to sleep with the open terrace doors (despite the location is pretty safe, I assume).
