Location, helpfulness of staff
Fast check in, good room, no street noise.
location, cleanliness of room hotel staff very rude
Your staff ! They were very friendly, helpful and efficient. The hash-browns served at breakfast were not nice. Too greasy and tasted as though they were out of a packet. Fresh hash-browns would be a lot nicer.
modern decor,clean,location exellent.
Very good service.Polite and efficent.Modern.Comfortable bed and quiet for sleeping. Good facilities.
Friendly & helpful staff, very central to the city, a very clean and quiet room, no disturbances at all. A clearer indication of the alternative lift down to the city would of saved us time in the first day, and re consider the no phone books policy
Service, staff, looked after us very well-no problems Very minor comment-soap bar very small, hard to grasp
Location and the bed. Closeness to the airport and Lanbton Quay shopping The cafe downstairs was not open Saturday morning
My stay was quite enjoyable. I was there for a conference so not in the Hotel all that often but I found the staff ect very good
That is was clean and quite. Staff were obliging, and everything I wanted to go to whilst in Wellington was within walking distance. Having to pay for car parking was a bit odd!
Great location, comfortable and warm
The location of this hotel is very good for visits to sporting events. Ease of travel airport or train station, to hotel, to sporting venue is great. Handy to bars and restaurants. Good views over the harbor from some rooms. Semi see through glass wall between bathroom / toilet and bed is a bad concept.
Location was good and staff very helpful and friendly Room decor and fittings a could use a bit of a redo
Ran in the Wellington marathon
Only stayed for one night after travelling on ferry from South Island and location was very convenient for this. Upgraded to harbour view room which was comfortable and had everything we needed.
Kids running in hallway No car park for general use - only valet offered and not told how much it would cost
the price that gave me was more than price for other guest about 35%
Location to city, pleasant staff, quiet at night. The bed was too small and my husband and i had to sleep in separate beds. I didn't realise a had booked a room with 2 double beds only.
It is a conveniently located hotel I had booked a twin bedded room some months before leaving the UK. We were eventually offered a single/double bed and had to have a (very comfortable) "put-you-up" bed squeezed into the room. Seperetely, the restauant manageress was graceless and "sour" and gave a poor impressing of hospitality. I would never stay in the Hliday Inn in Welligton or recommend it ti friends or business colleagues
The whole family enjoyed the swimming pool and the spa.
staff were very courteous and helpful food was excellent and our room was very comfortable and well appointed no
The location made it central to almost everything, walking was easy to and from most tourist spots like Te Papa etc. Cafes and eateries were close by. Access was not clear for visitors via the car park, not open for lunch
It is new and clean Finish and facilities are very basic and quite austere. The breakfast was of a poor quality.
Well situated. Good price. Nice hotel room. In room a la carte breakfast would be better than a 'set' breakfast.
location and comfortable bed minor issues but you did not supply smaller toiletries on request such as toothpaste etc which is usually included in Travelodges free of charge in UK, no tv guide to what was on the channels
Helpfulness of the reception staff at registration, cab bookings, and any questions I had during my stay
It's very convenient for the city centre and it's not too bad, though I wouldn't rate it more than a 3* hotel. The staff were very helpful in regard to directions in the centre. The staff were not always very helpful and a lot of information given out was not very clear. It is also difficult to park and I would not use a car next time.
The cost. Central location at a reasonable price. Signage. It was very difficult to find our way to the reception area. There was no booklet in the room with information regarding eateries, how to work the TV, things to do, etc. We had to go to reception to find out information.
The hotel is located close to a few Wellington attractions which can be reached on foot. The hotel room was beautifully designed. The king size bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was nice and spacious. The parking rate was a bit steep at NZ 20 per day and there were only a handful of available spaces for hotel guests although the there were a number of car park floors in the building.
The location to the city was excellent The noise from construction works was very disturbing. Prior to our arrival I emailed twice to confirm some details and no one replied therefore I had to make a toll call from Australia to confirm this information - this was frustrating.
The peace and quiet that I experienced in my room, the nice high room situated on the 22 floor (I do like having a view so enjoyed that) and the very comfortable bed and having sky TV It would have been good to have some guest info on how to use the TV as it took me a while tyo sort it out. Maybe there was one but I didn't see it!
The view & proximity to shops etc Smell of old cigarette smoke in the room
Having friends in the same hotel!
the large room and cleanliness of the room it really is out of our price range
Convenience in a safe and secure environment
Central to all that we wanted to do which was catch up with brother from Sydney Australia so cancel out a sober driver and do not waste money in a taxi home - so for that perfect and added an element of romance.
Friendly staff member upon check in, helpful with car parking. Excellent view of Wellington. We were put in a room next door to a generator or air con unit, there was a constant noise like having a dryer going, and a scratching/creaking against the wall where the bed was. Could not sleep so checked out at 430 am and drove home to get some sleep, was not asked if we enjoyed our stay.
Its centrality The bathroom had a bad smelling drain twice through the day, but it cleared at night. I also had to pay personally rather than through my university's account as pre-arranged, as there seemed to be a problem with the systems at reception.
Staff very friendly, service good and very handy to Wellington Central.
Central locality, nice staff, comfy bed, nice bathroom No wine in mini bar! Repair work needed on ceiling in bathroom above shower - a bit shoddy
We had a waterfront view that was beautiful. The room felt luxurious. It was big with a nice size bathroom also. The location was perfect for checking out the town. Clues to Cuba Street, Te Papa Museum, the waterfront and downtown. It was far too expensive for us to eat there. Continental breakfast was $50 for two. Too much money for toast.
Convenient - proximity to Te Papa. Accessability. Ready availability and response from staff. Efficient. Good hospitable and friendly atmosphere. Bathroom starting to appear a bit tired - in terms of maintenance (peeling paper, cracked tiles, etc) rather than in terms of the actual amenities.
The views from the room and it's proximity to the city. Bathroom though functional was a bit small.
Great location, friendly staff, nice views
Excellent views across the bay, short walk to city center. The room should have had a safety deposit box, but didn't. I like to store my valuables, which couldn't.
The service and friendly staff and special mention to reception and Sonia (restraunt am) The pillows in the room had no depth or support
The Vista suites are part of another building and do not have airconditioning. The rooms are small by todays standards. It was quite a warm day and night and the windows and door had to be opened. Given Wellington is so windy this has its drawbacks and especially noise overnight.
The staff were cooperaative and extremely helpful. Wonderful
The room was excellent with a fantastic view over the bay, & very convenient for the retaurants.
I liked the luxery and cleanliness of the room. The view was lovely and the vicinity to the city was convenient. There was no spa pool.
The location is excellent and close to Courtney place with the nightlife. The staff were friendly and helpful. The views from the rooms were great. The quality was average, but the bathroon is poorly set up. It was impossible to turn the shower on without get wet. The water did not drain away prperly. The toweks were small. The room was warm but the hotel was quite cold.
The location, view, balcony, bed, space, The coffee in the Dining room, I would like to have known about the small bar/coffee area, just outside the dining room initially as I would have used it.
The room, the view, the restaurant and the curtious staff Nothing
I enjoyed overlooking the boats in the marina, and seeing the city lights on the harbour at night.
The views were great. The room spacious and well appointed.
great hotel, offering all that one would require n/a
The service was slick and courteous. Facilities were comfortable and classy with a very good range of equipment in the delux kitchen, The hotel staff were friendly and the location was very convenient . This hotel is a refreshing change from the big corporate spreads. A great place for entertaining our family in the separate lounge attached to the. suite Paid internet rates in rooms per day were too high., but you can get free access in lobby.
As a repeat client it was great to be welcomed informed manner ie they recognised our home town and made friendly conversation. As we were having a business meeting in our room the request for extra chairs and ground coffee were met instantly.
Staff were friendly and ready to please. All staff went the extra mile. Facilities fantastic. Overall would stay again because the staff made it. Not impressed about being charged for mini-bar goods when we didn't take any. Room ok, but could have been cleaner.
Everything about it - as could perhaps be guessed from the fact that it rated 'excellent' on all features above.
Very helpful staff, friendly and courtious. The food was very good for room service and breakfast. There was a great view of the small park next door, but other views were limited by the surrounding buildings.
Being able to order special pillows
Your staff bent over backwards to help me and I appreciated that
Great service and good location Poor breakfasts especially the coffee; very expensive car parking
Clean, spacious rooms and bathrooms The beds were incredibly comfortable The staff from top to bottom were extremely pleasant and helpful. They epitomize the phrase, "service with a smile."
Amazing hotel... big 2 person tub, 2 shower heads in the shower... fantastic location downtown.
The location of the hotel was very nice ans the staff was beyond warm and welcoming!
The gym and pool facilities were great, very clean and the gym staff were friendly and attentive. I found the administration around my booking very poor. I ended up spending too much of my time reconfirming things I'd already told the staff about my booking and the cost. Generally I found the service of the staff poor given the quality of the hotel - I get much better and responsive service from other quality hotels.
concierge was excellent and helpful. The difference between complaint and not liking something is so fine as to make this impossible to answer. My name incidentally is prosaicly John Walker
Location & the executive lounge Bathrooms need an update
Very convenient location in Wellington for access to all parts of the city, professionalism and knowledge of staff were excellent. Nothing.
The staff in the Club Lounge were very good, especially Nina. Food quality and presentation in Chameleon Restaurant was excellent. The hotel is centrally located relative to commercial activities, shops and public transport. Underground parking and a guest laundry in the same building is a plus. It is now getting quite tired/dated and in need of refurbishment. Attentativeness of waiters in Chameleon Restaurant could be improved. The lack of a fine dining restaurant separate from the general lobby area detracts from the dining experience. It was disappointing that the bed turn down service did not occur on 2 out of the 7 nights of our stay.
excellent hotel, close to attractions and city centre
Staff where exceptionally helpful and allowed me to feel comfortable and safe as I was travelling alone
Very Friendly Stff, nothing to much trouble for the few staff we had to deal with directly. Excellent help from the concierge desk!!!
The location for shopping, and closeness to the waterfront, particularly the Queens Wharf bars and restaurants, can't be beat. The proximity to the harbour also means attractions such as Te Papa museum are a short pleasant stroll away along the waterfront. The hotel itself is getting on in years now, but still offers quiet, comfortable accommodation with a touch of class. We booked for two separate stays of two and four nights a number of months prior to our trip and were disappointed to find that the entire cost of both stays was deducted from our credit card about two months prior to us actually staying there.
It was very quiet in the room and it had a good shower I would have liked extra bedding. I was a bit cold in bed.
Clean rooms, good restaurant
The service was fantastic! The staff were very friendly and welcoming and I felt that they would be able to help with anything I needed help with, very capable. My room was very comfortable and the room service was great. The food was delicious! I didn't have time to use the pool, sauna or gym. The hotel was handy to seeing Wellington and shopping! A few small issues with the cleaning - dirty teaspoons and a mark by the shower that could easily have been cleaned off. I didn't feel that the room was dirty though, it was very comfortable.
The friendly, attentive staff The bed was hard.
Location The pillows were very uncomfortable
Nice and quiet on the 8th floor. It's within easy walking distance of almost all of WGT main places-to-see. On one day the room was made up only at 2.30pm, but the next day there was a knock on the door at 9.30am from the staff. The hotel has a check-in after 2, check-out by 10 policy and the staff ought to abide by their own rules.
it has access to a good nearby gym and the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly
The Staff were friendly and very helpful, Nothing was too much trouble. The Girls always greeted e with a smile. Very impressed. Two problems only with my stay. Firstly the chairs in the Restaurant are far too low for comfort and the tables don't accommodate ones legs with ease,Secondly Cafenet inernet connection is useless. I paid $20 and had 5 minutes use of it as I continued to be cut off. It took 4 phone calls to their help desk also one call from your Reception to the help desk, which still didn't solve the problem. Need to change it. I heard the same complaint from other guests
location to Westpac Stadium
Enjoyed excellent meals and service in the dining room. Do not want my remarks to be published.
Nice Rooms and very handy to everything we needed. We didnt like having a phone call two days before we were due to stay telling us of a mix up in Bookings telling us we couldnt stay at City Life and being put up in another Hotel of very budget Accommodation,(after we had booked 6mths in advance) and told it was going to be of similar quality to City Life, it wasnt until the second night we found out there was actually a room available, not that anyone was going to tell us!
Proximity to main amenities no
The request for clothing left at hotel, to be returned was not achieved. Reason unknown.
Very convenient location, friendly staff, good price.
The two bedroom apartment was great. The beds were comfortable and rooms were large. So close to all the great shopping and walking distance to great bars and pubs. The staff seemed to have no information about Wellington and were to eat. The lounge room aka eating area was very small and expensive when you could walk for a few minutes to a great cafe
The staff were friendly and helpful. The apartment contained everything we could possibly need and the hotel is in a good central position in the city.
Staff were very polite. Great room, very spacious, smart and well equipped. Hotel right in centre of city and great for shopping and waterfront. Would definately stay there again. Check in was very slow - about 20 minutes
This hotel is in the middle of the shopping/business district in Wellington. Apartment was roomy and comfortable. It would be excellent for a business stay. The view from the window was not attractive as it looked out on a hillside.
The large rooms and the great location in the middle of the city
may check swap card to sensible
The friendly staff and tea making facilities, even if there were only 3 tea bags and HT milk. The room was very small and only 3 tea bags and HT milk.
Location was great. Getting in and out of car parking was not the easiest but don't think you can do much about that. As a reasonably priced hotel in mid city this was pretty good. Your staff were very helpful.
very handy for work..live in Levib so breaks the week up. Convenient and greta value for money
Staff were wonderful, very friendly, extremely helpful and non-judgemental. I liked how modern the room looked and how tidy they made the room. The huge bed was wonderful. Great to be so close to the city, shops etc I could see that the room was getting a little run down with marks on the walls etc. Room was quite small but good for the price.
The fact that it was close to where we needed to go It was very muggy- and not at all airconditioned- window didnt open very far so was very little air flow-staff werent very helpful- my room wouldnt open with key card provided- and we had to go back down to the front desk 3 times to get it rectified
Location was excellent and the staff were great, very helpful. Nothing comes to mind.
Private The bathroom door would not lock, could hear other people from other rooms
Good value for money handy to town rooms clean and functional Lack of parking and noisy
Free parking, central location. Rooms run down. Sheets had some hairs in them. Some room lights didn't work.
nice, unpretentious polace, gave appearance of being very well managed
Good location. Excellent breakfast.
The staff were excellent. Our first offered room was small, old and tired. Not up to the standard I would expect from Mercure. The very helpful manager accepted our concerns and upgrade our room.
The cleanliness of the rooms and linen
Comfortable clean room, good breakfast and excellent service in the restaurant. Overall a good experience
Having an excellant restaurant on site Lack of a bell/buzzer in bar for service and the parking. Also receptionist who did not know you had a walk in shower.
Good location, good value for money. Free parking. Small bedroom (smaller than bedrooms found in Ibis Hotels).
Use of large gym facilities was good Prices of room service and restaurant where too expensive for quality of food provided
Friendly service and awesome parking facilities, I would deffinately recommend if you would like to stay in town for the night if you have a party or evening out in town, and the check out time is Awesome, 11am from Monaday to Saturday and 2pm on Sunday awesome awesome awesome There was just one problem in the room, the shower was very poor, hence the reason i put fair for facilities, not that much pressure at all was only a trickle that could improve more, but other then that was awesome.
Location and Parking, Pleasant room, very good evening meal We didn't appreciate the poor dress of people in the dining area at breakfast. One man in a tank top exposing tatoo and arms, another man in beach shorts and scruffy shirt, jandals. In Europe this would not be permitted in the hotel and often in the towns
I had a back room and I appreciated the quiet.
Very helpful efficient staff, processed payment fast all excellent
The friendly and helpful staff at all times. The location of the hotel.
Very pleasant and helpful staff, clean and bright and very reasonable tariff for excellent location in downtown Wellington
Quick nand easy breakfasts No outdoor area such as a small terrace to sit on.
the staff offered a friendly, efficiant service & always with a smile, which sadley, is all to often neglected.
this hotel did not live up to my expectations its was very unprofessional managed and at peak times in the morning the front desk was under manned to the breakfast or lack of breackfast service all in all an experince not to be repeated
It was central to all our requirements - Te Papa, city shopping, cafes, restaurants and Opera House. We could leave our car parked safely at the hotel while we walked to these venues. The lack of airconditioning. We needed to leave our windows open for air and it was very noisy out in the street.
excellent service from the staff. Treated very well . Accommodating to my requests ie later check out.
Excellent service from the staff....we had a problem and they sorted it right away. Comfortable rooms.
Location of the room and the decor was very nice and modern. Did not hear any other people in adjoining rooms. Was not happy with the soap - could have soap for shower as well as hand basin ie shower gel incl. with shampoo/conditioner. Soap was too small. Alos, no hand towels supplied - would like to see/use hand towels when drying hands.
I liked that it was close to the TSB Arena, and the shops on Lambton Quay, I liked that it had a restaurant for evening dining and buffet breakfast, service was great, nothing was too much for the stff. I really wanted to be able to make a cup of tea in the room which I could do but had to fill up the jug in the bathroom!,also the room was a bit cramped, but I guess this was unavoidable seeing as we requested a room with two double beds!
Very flexible and speedy checkin Central air conditioning - but then central AC is to be expected
rooms were clean and made you feel comfortable and at home. have stayed in hotels where i just wanted to go back home!! it was nice to get double beds as travelling with friend and the size of the room was just perfect.
job interview, sight seeing a little wander about the main shopping areas like cuba street, the cable car was good tight parking area, understand its being refurbished but lift was unavailable alot of time to carpark, and the park we paid for was used during day for stoarage of building materials for refurbishment.
TheStaff always went out of their way to help. Good central location
Handy to Westpac stadium for Phoenix game with pubs close by Room decor was a little dated
Found the location was great, easy to find our way around from being based there. Staff friendly and helpfull. The shower could have been cleaner when standing in there looking at the door on the left there was black mould. Room 317
All was fine, but was a little disappointed with the size of the room.
The hotel is located very close to Cuba St which has a lot of restaurants and shops. It is also very close to tram line to go to down town. One can walk to downtown in 15-20 minutes. The kitchenette is well stocked. The room is clean and quiet. The lift sometimes doesn't work very well.
Location is great Staff was rude, data limit is a real pain.
Lots of space and great location for walking around the city.
