Unfortunately due to the business of the day my daughter made a reservation for the wrong night 9not hotel s fault. As a solo traveller I did not appreciate being not only told that the hotel was full, but also the fact that front desk were completely indifferent including the fact that I had a major headache. Along with snap Travelers NON reservation in Halifax, I would ensure that next time we had made reservations at our Norma; ; marriott. But thanks to the ALT in St John s anyway!!

Pros: It was close to work and to restaurants & pubs.
Cons: It was more expensive than I thought, almost twice the price of my last time 2.5 years ago.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The pool was great and the location was great, but the hotel overall is slightly run down and overpriced.
Cons: Our comforter had various stains: blood, some yellow stuff I'd rather not know what it was, and other unidentified stains. While I appreciated the convenience of the indoor pathway, the public traffic through hallways was a bit weird.

Granville Hall Residence - Halifax - Bedroom
17
8.9 Excellent (157 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Granville Hall Residence in Halifax (Downtown Halifax), you'll be steps from Halifax Waterfront Boardwalk and Neptune Theatre. Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and limited parking is available onsite.
7.9 Good
Cons: I don't know if the property itself made an error or if was booking.com itself. But there was a disconnect with the room availability. I was notified a couple hours before I left for the airport so I had no time to search for something else. I was put into a dorm environment in a room with no windows, no air and was the smallest room I have ever stayed in. I got a $20 discount for the room change but if I knew ahead of time, I would have looked into something else. It was hard to fall asleep with no airflow and no A/C or even a fan. I would leave the door wide open while I was in there to help with some air flow(compromised privacy for airflow). Once I closed the door within minutes there was a definite change in temperature. I don't know who is at fault so I'm sorry whoever this reviews falls on.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything was very new and in great condition! It was an amazing renovation job to such a beautiful old building. The kitchen had absolutely everything you could ever need! The single room was great, and I never had to wait for one of the bathrooms, which were always superbly clean. The location couldn't have been any more central too!
Cons: The window blinds weren't the best at keeping the light out, and the sound between rooms carried slightly, but neither were big issues.
7.5 Good
Pros: The place was clean and had two beds like we expected. The separated bathroom was clean. It was a decent place to spend one night before heading out early the next am. Close enough to the water front that it was just a 5-10 min walk.
Cons: We wish there would have been AC but thankfully it got cold enough at night. There were people on the streets that were standing around all night talking and smoking cigarettes and the smell started wafting into our room because we had to have the window open for air flow. A large truck started to make the loudest banging possible at 6am for what seemed like forever, it was horrible, no sleep after that. That really ruined it for me. It's the basics you would expect from a student dorm in the downtown.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff is very friendly and accommodating. The room is basic and small but very comfortable and the bathrooms are great. Impeccably clean. The location was great, near lots of bars and restaurants and the harbor. I think it’s the best price you can get in this location.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great comfy room in the centre of Halifax, walking distance to the harbour front and many shops, restaurants and cafes for breakfast. Though the bathrooms are shared they were super clean and I'd never had to wait for one. Easy late check-in and great receptionist the next morning. I'd definitely stay again
Cons: No elevator, luckily there are only 2 floors.

Cons: Can't think of anything

Cons: Smell of room. I was offered a room 30$ cheaper
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent accommodations, would highly recommend
Cons: Parking was disappointing not located at location and expensive

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location was perfect Situated near the Halifax harbor. Easy to walk everywhere.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: didn't hv breakfast at hotel. the outside entrance to the hotel was beautiful. the staff were wonderful and friendly. the room was spacious, attractive, modern, clean and comfortable.
Cons: the only thing was the entrance where you check in wasn't like any upscale hotel entrance I've stayed in, it was a little plain and more like a motel look, but the open restaurant/bar to the left was very attractive and modern looking.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Room keys stop working everyday
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Awesome harbour view room! Great location. Bistro made a great breakfast and all staff was friendly. Bed was comfy!!

Cons: Room service was poor. Wrong order and forgot the cutlery.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: its proximity to the harbor, Halifax's attractions, and many good restaurants. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The beds were quite comfortable

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were friendly and engaging. Very pleasant experience.
Cons: It was hard to find the entrance based on the GPS co-ordinates. Also, there were food crumbs under the chair in our room.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Great location downtown - clear property
Cons: Key cards had to be re-programed upon arrival, twice??, elevator very slow, charged wrong room rate - had to call to get fixed?
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location.
Cons: The Quality if the AC n the bathroom fan were very poor.
9.1 Excellent
Cons: Rooms are dated
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. All staff were very helpful with every request. Excellent location next to the waterfront, restaurants and cafes and within walking distance to other downtown areas. Laundry and hot tub on site, and 2 options for outdoor lounging with great city views. When we checked out a day early for our standby flight to avoid hurricane Dorian, we weren't charged for the late cancellation. If I return to Halifax I'm staying here again and have already recommended the place to relatives for their trip next spring.
Cons: Considering you're right next to the harbour, I would have liked being able to open the windows instead of relying on central air. Limited parking but there's a ton of public parking right across from the building so not as big a deal as others are making it out to be.

5.0 Okay
Pros: The location was actually not too bad, as we were walking distance from a lot of stuff.
Cons: The room was the size of a crack jack box! I have never seen such a tiny room!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: the location couldn't have been better - right next to the Public Gardens, and near the Citadel, within walking distance to downtown attractions.
Cons: I thought the breakfast was a bit overpriced, but very good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Lord Nelson is an old fashioned classy hotel with modern amenities. We especially enjoyed the decor of the lobby and mezzanine, and the hotel restaurant which was in the style of a classic English public house. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very nice and the beds comfortable.
Cons: Parking was a bit expensive at $28 (CAD) a day, and getting to and from the parkade was a bit of an ordeal, but being right downtown these things are expected. Many more positives to outweigh this one minor negative.
7.5 Good
Pros: Great location and easy to get around.
Cons: Staff not very attentive in the restaurant.
4.0 Okay
Cons: The room was very small and very loud. The bed was only a double. It was not as close to the downtown area we are used to. Parking was very expensive so we did not use it . There was a fridge, which is the only positive thing I can say, but no microwave.

Pros: The hotel restaurant had an excellent but not free buffet on the Sunday we were there. Its central location at the center of Halifax at the Public Gardens is a plus. The rooms are modern , clean, recently renovated. There was no extraneous noise during the night despite two energetic dance parties in the meeting areas.
Cons: This hotel is expensive but a pleasure to stay in . We stayed here to attend a family wedding at the hotel so we paid for the convenience.
