It was a excellent value for the price but certainly not among the better appointed hotels we stayed in during our trip. The location right on the road was dramatic and the access to a beach an unusual plus for Portofino. The staff was helpful but probably not that experienced in the hospitality business. It has tiny almost ship-like bathrooms. The front door is literally on the street which is narrow and treacherous and the parking is cramped and dangerous but space in this little hamlet is limited. The staff, although helpful, seemed inexperienced in the ways of the hospitality business and the bell man (if that is what he was) smelled heavily of alcohol. Breakfast was primitive and not very good (we decided to eat in town after tasting the acrid juice). This hotel probably needs more professional leadership and a facelift, but it was certainly relatively inexpensive.
Location; view; staff was very helpful and professional. It was a bit noisy, but it was located right on a roadway so it was to be expected. It could have had darker shades because it was very bright in the a.m. The place was a little tired and rundown.
We were upgraded to a room with a view over the water - it was fantastic. When we checked in they kept our passports whilst we were shown to our room, I would have preferred to be given our passports back straight away.
Very nice room and facility, with additional grounds in small cove area. Great setting and simple walk to Portofino harbor. Staff was quite competent and efficient, but seemed personally aloof.
Our small dog was welcome and we got a room with a balcony. Modern and very spacious rooms. Old hotel nicely renovated. Wonderful location. 10min walk along car-less small pedestrian walk to Port of Portofino. -
This was an excellent hotel with excellent staff. We were met at the car park and nothing was too much touble. The breakfasts were very good and the room was also first class with a wonderful view. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and location.
great location and beautiful scenery. the only complaint we had is we were in room 204 and we could hear the sound of water pumps kicking in and out all night. the staff offered to move us but we had already settled in for the night. otherwise would highly recomend it see above
Excellent location, although older style the rooms were large and comfortable - ours had a great balcony, lovely swimming beach, friendly staff - perfect for families or couples.
staff was very accomodating , helpfull and plesant. excellent location and we like the beach too. the pathway to portofino was a great advantage. the rooms were little dated , could do with a makeover.
The room was a good size for an Italian hotel, and the terrace overlooking the bay was ideal. The breakfast needs to be improved. Packaged cookies / muffins and no fresh juice are sub-standard for a 4 star hotel. If the breakfast were to be improved I would have only great things to say about Piccolo.
Prime location for being and feeling in the heart of Portofino. No fuss, helpful service. Spacious room.
Unusual room Only awareness of restaurant, as mentioned above. This is largely caused by the many entrances to the hotel - habour -facing and two sides
location uninterested staff - very very basic breakfast - longlost glory
Despite the location it was very quiet at night even though our room overlooked the main promenade and inlet. Great location for walking out and strolling around Portofino both day and night time. No cooked breakfast available.
The location and the friendly staff. Also the spacious room
Situated close to Marina area
The fabulous location, that you could have breakfast in your room and that the room was large with a lovely view. The bathroom was nice. The downstairs was not very nice - it was clean but not much of a lobby, no elevator and the restaurant was not so nice.
Friendly staff at Portofino and helpful. Room was very comfortable.
The location was exceptional and the staff was very welcoming. We were upgraded to a sea view with terrace due to some construction/repairs going on in the hotel. Overall a very satisfying stay. The staff was not familiar with local eating places in the surrounding areas where meals could be obtained at reasonable prices (Portofino prices are absurd!).
Location was good. Staff was helpful and always pleasant. At night our balcony over the restaurant was a nice place to drink wine and people watch. Rooms were tiny, but livable. Furnishings were a bit Spartan, but we weren't spending much time in the hotel, so it didn't matter.
The room was fabulous. Only downside was the cleanliness of the black tiling in the bath area. Appreciate its difficult to keep this stuff clean! Breakfast on the garden terrace - lots of wasps around and insects in the fruit. Suggest you put wasp traps on perimieters of the breakfast area and cover all food.
Rooms were nicely redone; breakfast selection was good and breakfast staff were very nice and helpful. We were required to move from our Jr. Suite after the first night, due to a leaking shower faucet. We understood that the hotel did not have another Jr. suite or suite available, so we were moved to a superior room instead. Since we were inconvenienced and had to stay in a smaller room, we should have received consideration beyond the room rate differential. We were given a bottle of proseco.
Everything! The best bed in 5 Italian hotels we stayed in.
had to take a shuttle to the beach
Pricey, but so is everything else in Portofino. Fabulous rooms. Staff was extremely friendly and professional. Breakfast (included in price) was outstanding.
The staff are the most pleasant and the bathroom was very nice
Staff were second to none - nothing was too much trouble for them and they always had a smile on their face.
The staff was incredibly accomodating and helpful. Honored our request for a room with a terrace which was delightful. The shower was the best we had had. The room was beautiful. Excelent breakfast.
San Giorgio is a small, but well appointed, hotel with friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Room airconditioning was not effective during our stay. Being located halfway up the hill, there are no views of the Portofino bay from the rooms.
We were made very much at home by friendly and attentive staff. Portofino is the most perfect "old fishing village" we have ever visited and the hotel is the perfect place to stay
Perfect location. Friendly, helpful owner. Very nice garden setting for breakfasts. Well maintained rooms. And in beautiful Portofino!
Location is fine Our room was on the top floor with slope ceiling. Thus we could not stand up at the left side near the bed or our heads will hit the ceiling. The cleanness was very poor. The boss told us that there was no other room except one at 2nd floor but the toilet was outside the room. But it would be very inconvenient for my wife to go to toilet or bath. Clearly the room should not be rent to customer at all.
Awesome...great staff...nice to have A/C on a hot summer day. We didn't eat anything but breakfast, but appeared to have a nice menu...very fair pricing in a luxury location where prices seem sky high.
it is in an old grand house the bathrooms need revamping for sure!
it was very central....
Great location and good room size.
Location was really good and staff friendly. Although this is an older hotel we loved the location and just being in Portofino.
Familiar atmosphere towels not properly clean. The double room is actually double bed
Hotel Eden provides a decent balance between location and price. The staff were so welcoming and helpful, particularly the owner, Signore Ferruccio. He made us feel at home whilst still running a very comfortable hotel in the centre of Portofino. The hotel was right in the centre of Portofino and so everything in the village was just a few minutes walk away. The hotel room was not salubrious for the rate paid. Having said that, the hotel is in the middle of Portofino, which is not exactly a cheap place to visit. So the price is to be expected if that's where you want to be.
