Nice room at an excellent rate Paid more for other places in the vicinity that were not nearly as nice as the Zen
Clean, good breakfast, very helpful staff
clean and large rooms, converted from motel. slightly noisy rooms facing El Camino
The staff are very nice and helpful. The rooms are nicely furbished and very clean.
Excellent coffee at breakfast & great value for money!
Room was very nice, well designed and attractive. Loved the coffee beans and grinder for coffee in the morning (in room). Only negative is that the exterior wasn't quite what one would expect with the name Zen Hotel. It isn't bad but the building is old and doesn't have the Asian feel that we expected.
During my stay at the Zen I enjoyed the large flat screen TV, the firm comfortable bed and the convienant front door parking. I accidentally kicked the wood corner of the bed frame and left with a large black and blue bruise above my ankle. Following day, my boyfriend kicked it too! That characteristic of the bed might lead to others getting hurt too.
The room was nice and large. The bed was comfortable. The bathtub was clogged, and the television didn't work very well. The picture was very staticky and a lot of channels didn't come in well enough to watch.
I walked up to my room and opened the door to find the tv on and clothes and wine on the table. They have me the key to someone else's room!!! I was so horrified and startled. This is such a huge security problem. The man at the front desk didn't even seem fazed. As a solo female travel I felt so uncomfortable in my room all night, wondering if they would give someone a key to my room. Absolutely inexcusable. The guests security and safety should be a #1 priority at all times, which they totally do not adhere to.
The front desk and housekeeping staff were fantastic. Inability to control the room temperature other than using the ceiling fan. Also, the noise from the child in the adjacent room woke us in the early morning.
Quiet; View of golf course; Fireplace & pool area; Breakfast TV reception was variable - some channels poor.
It's charming The bath tub had a scum ring in it, we soldiered thru the first shower but felt icky the rest of the stay. the water was not hot enough and the fact that they didn't have Fox News Channel on TV made a political statement that I didn't pay to receive.
The hotel is well located on a beach and has large suite rooms with a fire. The continental breakfast is disappointing and staged in the reception area as there is no breakfast room. Plenty of good retsaurants close. Well situated just south of San Francisco, ideal for touring around. Can reccomend but found it very pricey, especially at the weekend. Breakfast arrangements.
Great location. Love the breakfast in the AM. Polite and helpful staff. Nice amenities and atmosphere. On the expensive side.
Clean and close to my business appointmant. It was located near a shopping center for food
Reasonable price for the area, clean.
Staff is great. Breakfast could be earler and more healthy.
Picture & name There's no value at all, maybe $40 worth. I'll never ever stay again.
The Inn, although an older building, was clean and well maintained. We switched rooms to be at the rear away from the busy street. Noise from the El Camino and the fact that we couldn't get a queen size bed room on the second floor.
The staff was very accomodating and warm. The rooms were very clean. The location was very safe and walking distance to shopping, nice downtown and good coffee shops. The breakfast was simple- fruit, coffee, juice, choice of 3 cold cereals, danish and toast. Nothing fancy, but serviceable. This hotel is a great value. The hotel served all our needs perfectly.
Internet was working fine, good location and close to train and bus stations breakfast is not really good
The location is extremely convenient - right next to a Safeway, Whole Foods, several good restaurants and bars, a Caltrain station, and of course it's right on El Camino Real, within a quick drive of the 101. It's about 25 minutes from SFO. As noted by other reviewers, the room did not have any unpleasant smell and even has a filtered water faucet in the bathroom. Its low price and great location make it perfect for the business traveler. To be sure, it's not a sexy luxury hotel in any way, but it's not trying to be. It's cheap and clean; that's it. I found the wi-fi shaky, and at times it would cut out and be unavailable for a while. But, if you don't intend to work out of your hotel room for part of the time (like I did), you may not notice.
The mangers / front desk staff made everything right when we had a room that did not fit our needs. Friendly, gracious, "customer comes first" attitude of service. N/A
Location to friend's house. Across the street from Whole Foods. Easy "in and out" from freeway. We stayed there while traveling through Redwood City and because it was close to our friend's house. The staff was very accomodating.
Easy access It definitely was a weekly. Walls are thin. Coffe not good, no cream n sugar in the room. We had small children. I called when booking the room. The FD agent said he'd put us by each other and when I checked in that was not the case. We delt. It was only for 2 nights. Pool looked dirty I didng let the kids swim.
My plane got in to SFO at 12:30. I got a voicemail that lobby was closed and keys at bar. Went there and bar was closed and there was no note and no one there. Not even a night watchman which seems unsafe. Had to drive around and find another hotel at 2am. Never got refund.
