You are in the heart of Madrid! Welcome! It is just great beeing that close to the Gran Via which is basically the soul of Madrid. The rooms were for that price more than adequate and included a great TV! There is no 24/7 reception but you get a key.
The room stank of cigarette smoke
I could not believe how clean it was .Excellant! The Approach gives the impression of a dissued place and I found it difficult to find it Should be a larger notice outside in the street.
The hotel staff were friendly and the hotel was placed in the center of Madrid. Te rooms were tidy and cleaned daily. The hotel staf didn't know English and this was a bit difficult as were able to communicate easily. We booked a non-smoking room and we got a smoking room instead. The air-conditioning devices were not taken care of and the circulated air smelled not so nice. Near by the hotel, on the same street there were prostitutes and I don't think it's appropriate for the prestige of the hotel.
Very clean room, good location, even the shared bathroom is also very nice. The hostal is taken good care of. The plastic under the sheet is a bit uncomfortable. It's noisy at night, but it's inevitable because of the location.
The staff was friendly, spoke english, and the hostal was secure with fingerprint entry for the door.
It was right in the city center and close to a lot of the main sites. The side street it sits on is full of prostitutes all day and night. If you want to stay there, just be ready for that.
Location was good. Price was good. They do not speak English. Their location is a little seedy if that bother you. The walls are thin, if you´re a light sleeper it may be a problem.
Excellent staff and service. Tidy & clean room. Great location near Puerto del Sol. Lots of street noise at night time
Centrally located, own bathroom!, free wireless internet (fast). Rooms were small, but clean. Absolutely value for money!
Great located near caffees and restaurants, everywere was close to reach. Fantastic area! It really shows the climat of Madrid! Not so far to Prada Museum and parks. Very clean! Hostel.
The location is great! The hostel is at 4Fl. And there are no lifts. So It's a very hard way to there.
The couple who ran the hotel were absolutely lovely - really friendly and helpful. My room was very clean and cosy. There are no facilities for food of any kind within the hotel. It is very central so there are plenty of shops and cafes around but eating out every meal becomes a little wearing.
Perfect location, absolutely central. Room very small, at same tame clean. And staff very helpfull (thanks for hairdryer :)). Value for money for short city break.
The decor in the rooms was modern, and location was quite good - right near Sol metro station Although our stay here was acceptable, there were many things we were dissapointed with - The room was incredibly hot, and with no air conditioning, it meant that we had to leave all the doors and windows to the balconies open at night. While this helped a bit, it meant that the noise level through the night was unbearable - lots of garbage trucks, street cleaners, sirens, breaking glass etc. The bathroom was also tiny. Air condidtion would improve the comfort levels hugely.
The hotel put me in a nice quiet room, which was exactly what I asked for. Lovely and clean. All factility were modern and looked smart and tidy. Very friendly owner. Apart from the room being rather too warm continuously with no way of turning the heating down, I have absolutely no complaints.
The staff was really nice and friendly. The room was nicely decorated and tidy. I liked that there were these wooden covers for the window so during night it was dark. There was enough room for two and all the luggage. There was peace and quiet all day long. Very good quality on that price. The fact that the hostal was located in the third floor and there were no lift. The bathroom was a bit noisy, due water pump or something.
Friendly helpful staff. Free wifi. Location is really central (near Metro Sol). Clean & safe. Ensuite bathroom very small. No air conditioning. No lift, have to lug suitcase up 3 flights of stairs.
We spoke to around 4 staff over the 2 day trip and all of them were extremely friendly and helpful. Good, consistent customer service made the stay a pleasure.
All was very good, clean rooms and friendly staff.
The hotel was quaint and clean. The breakfast was reasonable especially if included. Rooms that we had were adequate, but not ultra luxurious. If you want to stay under E 100 per night you get your money's worth. If you sleep with windows open, avoid the front faciing rooms. Mardid parties til 6:00 AM and much of it is in the streeet.
Friendly staff The neighborhood are noisy and loud, close to a residentials can't sleep at night.
The location was fine but was a 15-20 minute walk to the main things to see. The staff was helpful. It was more of a two star hotel, not a three star. The beds were uncomfortable, the room was on the small size, I expected a mini-fridge in the room. One reason I selected the hotel was that it was off the main roads but our room was just above a bar and it was very noisy every night until 3 - 4am. The shower / tub was was difficult to get in and out of. The rod for the shower curtain was almost falling off the wall.
Friendly staff, exellent surroundings, free internet and easy to find :).
credit card is not acceptable during August, they ask me to pay by cash
I was really surprised about the Hostal San Lorenzo. I a very positiv way, The room was nice and clean, the lobby was wonderfull. The staff was absolut friendly and very helpful. I will for sure come back to this hotel. Of course it is not a Luxus Hotel, but you get the most you can get for the price you pay. nothing
Very friendly staff, perfect location, good price, clean rooms!
location, clean, very good value for money, very plesant hotel to stay in size of rooms...... for 2 adults it was more than fine... however, we were travelling with a infant and with an infant cot in the room..... room was a bit cramped
The best thing is the location, close to all landmarks. A lot of restaurants/shops/ coffee shops/bars near by. Also the room was nice and clean, more that we expected. The receptionist was very kind and helpful. The building is a little bit old and when someone closes the door of the hostel the door and the windows of the room were shaking. In the kitchen smoking is allowed and is not very comfortble there.
The staff was very kind and helpful. Maybe fresh paintings (walls, doors) would have its time.
Convenient location, close to centre of Madrid, close to Metro. Carlos, the "boss man" is very helpful - but quite a "character"... No - at this price, everything was great value!
this hotel is the poorest of all hotels.room so dirty that i can not describe in words.no comfort.water does not drain in the bathroom.horrible experience. i did not like anything in this hotel.
Great location, nearby sol which was 4 minutes walk distance. Staff very nice and helpfull. Never stayed in a hostel before, but I'll definitely go back!
The Hostel was very central located and I think this is the only reason it is used so much, Was excepting a toilet in the room and it was doow the hall, No where to make a coffee. The reason I booked this hostel was with a child you need a toilet close and on the website I belived that it would be in the room. Shower down the hall for all to use with no locks on door.
Location Very basic room, not a place to spend much time indoors.
Central location, quiet and clean, but very basic.Carlos, mine host, was very helpful, made the visit worthwhile.
The location is perfect,in the city centre so lots of places are near you-amazing restaurants and bars and decent shopping. Reallyy loved the area and the Balcony that was part of the room-unexpected! Because the area is so lively, don't expect to have a quiet night in your room when you plan on sleeping if you're there on a weekend. I stayed there Sat.-Mon nights and Saturday night was horrible however the next two nights we slept well enough, foam mattress was nice although I didn't care for the sheets-glad I brought my own.
The staff were very friendly and willing to help. It was a perfect pace to stay as it was very central. There were no tea or coffee faciities in the room, which i would have expected for 42 pounds a night. Neither was there a hairdryer or toiletries. The shower tiles were covered in mould. The room was tired and drab.
Very close to Gran Via and Sol. Found it easily. Elevator in the building. No one speaks English in the hostal. There was a lot of noise in the room during the night. I asked for a quiet room and was given a room with a window that faces the inside of the building. There was some kind of party in one of the appartments so I couldnt sleep until 1am (and had to wake up at 5:30 am...). I think that rooms that face the streets are loud as well because when I left the hotel (about 6 am) there were still people standing outside talking and drinking, and it wasnt a saturday night. The walls are very thin, so you can hear every sound inside the place - showers, steps etc. No internet in the hostal, not even in the reception, so they aren't able to search for anything - numbers of restaurants, shuttles for airport...
Maybe the best is the location. The girl that works there at night is very kind and helpful. The pillows could be better cuz is to thin and hard. The bed could be bigger.
Centrally located, clean and comfortable rooms. Very nice personnel. Highly recommended!
Welcoming staff ready to assist with any queries makes your stay at the hotel a pleasure. The room was smallish, but very clean, with flat tv, free internet, fridge, and a small balcony. The location is excellent-2- minute walk from Gran Via, 5 minutes- to the main Sol squire. Noisy at night. Ask for a room facing the inner yard if you are a light sleeper.
Central. As I turned the tap on in the bath I was showered with cold water although I was standing next to the bath. Not the best way to start the day. and I ran out of toilet paper which was rather annoying. Little things like this make all the difference.
The hotel staff was very welcoming, albeit the concierge spoke only Spanish and French. There is common room or salon available to guests. The triple-secured windows were good and (nearly) soundproof even on to the street. Apparently the neighborhood has depreciated recently, now populated by a plethora of prostitutes as well as sex shops. We did not bother to shower or bathe during our one-night stay as the hotel towels were ragged, thin and stiff as paper. The management might apply a bit of mildew remover around the tub as well.
Very clean, friendly staff, perfect location This hostal does NOT have internet at all, even in the discription it says so...
Easy to reach city centre friendly staff clean linen and towels No complaints
Large comfortable room, and fairly quiet facing a inner courtyard. Reception staff very helpful and friendly.Well situated for all central Madrid attractions, 2 mins from the Gran Via. No breakfast available at the hostal, but plenty of nearby cafes offering good value.
