10.0 Excellent
Pros: This B&B is in a really lovely rural spot just off the Ridgeway walking path, and a short stroll into Chinnor (where there is a good Indian restaurant). Our room was super cosy, with a great shower and a very comfortable bed, plus little thoughtful extras like real milk in the fridge and mini chocolates. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious (ideal for hungry walkers!), and Katrina and her family are the most welcoming and friendly hosts. We'll be back, for sure.
Cons: Everything was great- we had no complaints at all.

Pros: World class eggs Florentine. Marvellous breakfast

Cons: I would have liked more light in the bathroom.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Alan the owner is such a great and friendly host
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the Ercol room at the back. Very quiet. Over looked the riding school. Some countryside noise which we like (why else book a farm?) plus quiet talking from the riding school from 8am. Very comfy and large bed. Pleasant decor. Nice to see a bath and separate shower. Modern bathroom. Extremely nice to have a guest lounge/breakfast room overlooking a lovely garden. Lots of on site parking space. Alan, our host, could not have done more. He even gave another couple a lift to the Ridgeway to start a circular walk.
Cons: We stayed on the very hot August Bank Holiday. The room was very warm as it gets the sun all day. A large floor standing fan was provided which certainly helped. I try to give honest reviews and this was the only reason to mark down.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Superb standard of accommodation that made me wish I could have stayed longer. Hosts Nicky & Alan couldn't be nicer and even came to pick us up after a hard day's walking. Lovely in every way.
Cons: Just wish I could have stayed for longer.

Pros: The room was well designed and extremely comfortable with lovely, thoughtful extras such as granola bars, snacks and complimentary toiletries. Even a dressing gown and slippers were provided. The check-in / check-our process was also super easy and we didn’t see or hear another person during our stay but Arie was always available if we needed. The location is also walking distance to shops and supermarkets so great if you need supplies. Onsite parking is also an added bonus. Would highly recommend and certainly would book again.

Pros: Everything was well thought out. The house and its equipment are colonial. Personal service! It was nice to find different sweets in the fridge: fruit, milk for breakfast, yogurt ... We felt very comfortable. A comfortable bed with snow white linen, bathrobes with slippers .... It was wonderful to wake up to the singing of birds. With our next visit to this city, definitely here! Thank you very much to the owner, for our cozy stay! With the warmest recommendations !!!

Overview Reviews
When you stay at The Pointer in Aylesbury, you'll be 12 minutes by car from Waterperry Gardens. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very clean and spacious. The staff was wonderful. Breakfast included was amazing.
Cons: Only complaint.... we were in room 1, right above the entrance to the pub and the door closing from 10pm-12am was so loud the whole room would shake. You may want to install a door arm that allows the door to close slowly instead of slamming. Luckily we had a sound machine and would mainly feel the vibration of the slam and not the sound.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: lovely room. brilliant staff
Cons: menu in restaurant very limited and over priced.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was really comfortable? All the staff were amazing. The food was incredible. We will be back.
Cons: nothing really

Pros: Food vastly inferior to my last visit 4 months ago! Poorer menu and meagre portion sizes. Also a great increase in price. Last visit the food was unbeatable.
Cons: Staff willing but inefficient. Particularly at breakfast.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: great hotel rooms excellent very good breakfast in a nice village ate at the pub up the road which was fantastic would defiantly stop again
Cons: every thing was great
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Bed and bed linen excellent. Very stylish bathroom with great shower. Towels good.
Cons: The restaurant was closed Sunday evening and even the pub closed at eight. Had to drive to Thame to eat. This is not apparent on the booking website which makes a play of the restaurant facilities. Rather ruined our stay. In truth if I’d known would have booked elsewhere.
7.1 Good
Pros: Nice place in a very nice rural location. Rooms very clean and staff were personable
Cons: Very expensive to eat. Breakfast was nice but the staff don't start until 8am which is too late for visitors on business trips.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything exceeded our expectations. The room as exceptionally clean and comfortable. There was nothing that could have been improved on. The room was quiet at night. The evening meal was a delight as was the breakfast. Plenty of choice. The decor was lovely.
Cons: The only disappointment was that there was not a 'Pointer'
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was lovely. Very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was great., very tasty and good variety.
Cons: Only slight downside was the quilt on the bed was winter weight and so was very hot for a mild night in September. Also our room overlooked the back door to the kitchen and staff were very loud when speaking to each other and not the best language. This went on until a least 11.30.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was first class local produce, fresh and nicely presented. .
Cons: Nothing, everything was superb

Pros: Helen is an absolutely lovely lady, so friendly and accommodating. We were attending a wedding nearby and she kindly allowed us to check in early as we wouldn't have time later. Breakfast was great, kept me going all day!
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Helen was very welcoming (even though we had a very late check-in), and allowed us check out late due to the start time of the wedding we were attending. The breakfast was perfect. All in all, it was perfect for the what we wanted.

Hartwell House & Spa - Aylesbury - Building
6
9.1 Excellent (398 reviews)

Located in Aylesbury, Hartwell House & Spa is in a rural location, within a 5-minute drive of Aylesbury Park Golf Club and Buckinghamshire County Museum. Featured amenities include a business center, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and dry cleaning/laundry services. This hotel has 2 meeting rooms available for events. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a splendid, historic (an actual National Trust property) and quite quirky country house (which just adds to the interest). It has a whole spa facility right next door (well a few steps away) with a lovely, large indoor pool. The staff were charming and extremely well informed and efficient. The rooms were excellently furnished, with a great shower, and ours had a lovely view over the park. The restaurant was excellent as well, for dinner and breakfast. And for what it was it was remarkably reasonable. If I could, I would go all Nigel Tufnell and give it eleven stars. A remarkable, lovely, special place, in Aylesbury no less!
Cons: The spa was a little distance to walk, outside. The weather was lovely when we stayed, but if it was not that might have made the trek from hotel to spa pool and back a bit daunting. Also, the king bed was not a real king bed, but two twins zipped together. At the extraordinarily high level of this hotel, so wonderful in so many respects, one should really have a proper king (or double) bed.
7.9 Good
Cons: To warn in the rooms, no fan or AC apart from that everything was excellent.
6.3 Good
Pros: Location , grounds and grandeur of main house
Cons: I feel the accommodation was very poor value for money. Dated and small room and bathroom. Areas of the spa are looking tired . I have stayed at more luxurious properties for far less
5.4 Okay
Pros: The room size was pathetic considering it was £220 per night NOT including breakfast. You literally couldn't swing a cat in it. The decor was VERY dated also. For such a highly rated hotel, the room I had was well below the price point. I travel globally with my business and stay in a different hotel each week. Bang for buck this has to be one of the poorest value for money ive stayed in. Very disappointed.
Cons: Room size and decor, price.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Spacious,elegant and quiet.
Cons: Reception staff were not very welcoming unlike the rest of the team.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The grounds and building stunning. Staff very nice and helpful. The spa good and the Buttery restaurant very good there.
Cons: Rooms decor need an update badly but nice size. The shower in the tub always tricky as the glass panels never big enough to prevent water on floor. Typical. No proper counter either.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent personal service from the moment we arrived at the lodge gate
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great building and staff, oozes quality, really super hotel
Cons: Dinner (beautifully cooked and presented) cost for one was ridiculous, two courses bottle of water and coffee for £88 I knew it was pricy from a previous business dinner but with last minute bookings you take what is available
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Completely charming. Felt like a guest at a stately home. Wonderful decor!
7.1 Good
Pros: Friendly staff. Great authentic historic building in a spacious estate with pleasant walks.
Cons: It was disappointing not to be able to use the spa on the day of checking out.

Pros: It fitted our requirements for a specific visit to the area very well indeed. They happily met our need to be in late.
Cons: Possibly a little closer to our venue.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location & helpful staff
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good english breakfast.
Cons: Nothing could have been better. It was perfect.
7.9 Good
Pros: Breakfast was order whatever you like on the cooked side. Supper was "pub grub" type but still good.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good wifi speed, plenty of car park space, very friendly staff, spacious room, comfy bed
Cons: Lack of a decent chair by the desk (I had to do office some work)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly, comfortable place for a get away for the night. Food was lovely and breakfast excellent.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very attentive and flexible staff . We missed the breakfast slot as it was Sunday and thought it finished at 10am. However, we were offered bacon sandwiches and tea or coffee, which was gratefully appreciated.
Cons: Maybe consider finishing breakfast on a Sunday at 10 and not 9:30 . Maybe a card in the rooms with general housekeeping points.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really wonderful. The only problem was the street number to find , we have taken 30 minutes to find the house.
Cons: See previously
9.2 Excellent
Pros: I liked having the kettle, toaster and 'frig in my room which, together with the cereal, sliced bread, milk, orange juice , bananas, butter, and jam provided, enabled me to make my own breakfast on my own schedule.
Cons: The lighting in the room did not illuminate the inside of the wardrobe, inside of which there was the 'frig as well as all my clothes, so it was quite dark in there, especially when it was dark outside, so there was no light from the large window at night.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: All to be sincere
7.1 Good
Pros: Comfy clean rooms in a lovely property
Cons: Shared bathroom
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The friendly welcome by the charming owner, who could not have been more helpful. We really appreciated the comprehensive hospitality bowl, plus the added goodies in the fridge. One would have thought having a shared bathroom would reduce the final rating; but because all other aspects were so good the 10 rating still applies.
Cons: nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Top place to stay
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location, the cleanliness and the facilities the owner is lovely and very welcoming
Cons: Everything
5.8 Okay
Pros: Limited. In bedroom.
Cons: I had expected en suite and a proper set breakfast downstairs. The shared bathroom {with the only available toilet) was occupied for long periods. Staff were invisible throughout my stay, including the final morning when I needed an early checkout (7.30 am.)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: In spite of being on main road location was very quiet. Double room with garden view. Large room with large flat screen TV and refrigerator. Accommodation was spotlessly clean. Parking off road. Friendly host.
Cons: About a mile + from most pubs/restaurants. OK if you don't mind the walk. Always nice to have an en-suite but the shared toilet/bathroom was spotlessly clean.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very clean very comfortable, tea and coffee facilities, juice etc. Room nice and big. Quiet. Good parking. All very easy. Would definitely recommend.
Cons: Double bed was comfortable and so was duvet. However duvet not big enough. Needs to be a king size duvet on a double bed otherwise one person will get cold. We had a shared bathroom which we were expecting, however it would be good to know how many other people were sharing the bathroom as I was always a bit apprehensive about taking too much time or finding it occupied.

Cons: Nothing

Pros: Anthony was very welcoming and made us feel at home. He was interested in where we were from and where our holiday was taking us. Very informative as for recommending places to eat. Breakfast was delicious and our breakfast companions were great to chat with along with our host.
Cons: There was nothing that we could think of that could be improved on
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We asked for just light breakfasts of fresh fruit, yoghurt and cereal, with boiled eggs. All perfect! House is beautiful with striking furniture and other furnishings; our bedroom spacious. Large garden with 2 Welsh border collies (a bit shy). Birds fed just outside kitchen window and easy to see. Handy (short drive) to charming village of Wendover (we arrived on market day and worth going just for that). Long walks on marked tracks in nearby Wendover Woods (lots of children's activities near the carpark). For any person interested in wildflowers the small Aston Clinton Ragpits reserve is a 'must see'. More different plants in a small area of chalk pasture than you will see almost anywhere else.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was all that we asked for and extremely well cooked and presented. Although we were just of a very busy road we were not disturbed by traffic noise . We were also very adjacent for connecting to all the places we visited which were numerous !
Cons: Perhaps separate tables in the dining room as we ate at one large table. But we had very pleasant company and the conversation was always lively ! We used the house very much as "our own" and the garden was a joy to be in. There was no real bad experience. Nothing was to much trouble.
7.5 Good

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This old house is located off a Village and a very quiet area. This house is a little gem and is absolutely perfect. We only stayed one night as we were returning from another area in Britain. We stay in many houses in the UK when not abroad and find this one to be the best small guest house we have used. For that reason, it scores 10. Parking on site, spotless inside with soaps, towels spare pillows, tea making etc. Nothing left to want. The bedroom we had was overlooking open countryside and a really bright and colourful rear garden. If you need to stay near Bletchley, book this house as there will not be anything to equal or beat it on quality or value. I was born, and lived in a Hotel until i was 20 so understand hospitality and quality. Just try this one. Thanks, Geoff and Eve Hill.

Pros: Mole and Chicken is a real gem set in beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside. The restaurant menu offers excellent choice of fresh and high quality food and the staff were very attentive, professional and friendly. Very impressed with their attitude. The management clearly takes pride in the quality of wine making sure the temperature is kept exactly as it should be. The room had a bonus terrace which really made our stay. I would really recommend this place! Thank you for a memorable stay.
7.1 Good
Pros: The staff, restaurant and food were excellent. Nice room, good shower and a comfortable bed.
Cons: No working central heating, a portable heater was provided but not what you would expect. The TV remote was missing so after a short delay the staff found a replacement only for the TV to be unwatchable due to poor signal.
7.5 Good
Pros: The ambiance was nice and friendly. The restaurant service was friendly and efficient. The breakfast was good.
Cons: The room (no 2) was rather small, as was the bed, The smells from the kitchen hinted at some very tasty food. I had rump of lamb which was sinewy and lacked flavour (it was cooked medium rare which is what I asked for). Service and presentation were good.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable room on ground floor next door to the pub. Excellent breakfast with good choice. Tea and coffee facilities with bottled water available and flapjack. If you are a light sleeper ask for a room away from the road although not busy at night early morning there were more traffic but not constant as a country road , however a great place to stay and would recommend

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely stunning property and grounds. Beautifully furnished and oozing character. Sherry, tea, coffee, shortbread in room plus hairdryer and straighteners. Nice hosts, great dogs and a wonderful breakfast. No road noice at all and fantastic location.
Cons: The bed was a bit hard for my liking. The rooms were gorgeous but there were quite a lot of cobwebs, including inside the wardrobe. These were very minor points indeed and we chose the ambience over corporate luxury.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a real treat to spend a night in such a delightful house - friendly and helpful hosts, lovely rooms, fabulous garden and a delicious breakfast (complete with sausages and bacon from their own pigs). We will definitely book in again when visiting the area.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The Manor was a beautiful place to stay. It was incredibly comfortable and had some very nice touches (inc the sherry night cap)!
Cons: Breakfast was genuinely lovely but my wife was told that my 2 year old daughter couldn’t have any scrambled egg on our second morning because then other kids staying for one night that had already pretty much finished eating would want scrambled egg (after only fried eggs were served)! The impression given was they couldn’t be bothered doing scrambled egg.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Manor and grounds are beautiful. Faultless hospitality from Tim, Sue and the dogs. We really felt put at ease, and that we could relax as though at home. Fantastic breakfasts, catered exceptionally for both omnivores and vegan. Delicious local produce. Comfort and mod-cons mixed perfectly with outstanding character and historic charm. Well located as a base for exploring Oxford with a good range of local amenities within walking distance in the village or a short drive to Thame. Family room with adjoining bathroom was more spacious than expected, even with teenagers. Thoughtful provision of books and DVD library. Swimming in the pool, with swifts and kites overhead was sublime, if bracing!
Cons: If consistent Wifi via phone is high on your wishlist you may be disappointed. It worked very well for me but less so for other members of the party.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What great place to escape to from London. Beautiful house steeped in history, stunning gardens with a nice pool, great hosts and friendly dogs. We visited the pigs with our toddler and enjoyed the sausages for breakfast. Would thoroughly recommend.
8.3 Excellent

Pros: Historic building set in lovely grounds. Delicious breakfast.
Cons: The mattress on our bed was very uncomfortable so should be replaced. Meant to mention this to our hosts before continuing our travels.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast options were very good and to a very good standard. The setting is really nice and historical. Would certainly go back if in the area. Adjacent farm shop serves excellent food. Sausages to die for! Lovely all round.
Cons: More flexible check-in time. We realise that you were very busy running both the B&B and the Farm shop. Hopefully as the business grows you will be able to be more flexible.

Pros: Absolutely fantastic - I’ll be coming back.

Pros: Beautiful fixtures and fittings, loved the bath. Great value with included breakfast.
Cons: ..
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Pub is beautiful. We loved the decor and all the fine details. Food was very good! And breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend
9.6 Excellent
Pros: - We loved the room, fully air-conditioned which was just what was needed for the hot weather. - Booked in for an overnight stay after we got married, and the room, people and facilities exceeded our expectations. - The room was very clean, amazingly decorated, the bed was spacious and comfortable, the roll top copper bath was awesome! - Wasn't too noisy and staff were so polite and accommodating.
Cons: - Access from the main bar to the rooms was for staff only, which meant going outside in the rain to come back in to bar to check out. Direct access to the main bar and reception from the rooms would be better. - Room windows overlooked the garden area, where patrons were drinking. So had to close the window shutters.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was great, dinner was fantastic, staff were friendly and brilliant! I’d highly recommend a visit
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: It was very different. The room was interesting. Lovely bath and comfortable bed. Discount on the meal, which was excellent. Helpful and friendly staff.
Cons: It was a bit annoying having to leave the pub and walk round back to your room. Would have been nice to take food upstairs and the TV was a bit small for the size of the room but all and all a good stay and I’d recommend this place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Faultless service, food, drink and decor. Easy walking distance to town centre. Absolutely nothing to dislike.
7.1 Good
Pros: Good breakfast but took over 1/2hr to get it! The next table in got better service & offered things like orange juice that we weren't! We didn't eat there in the evening which was probably a mistake as the place we went to was terrible! They seem to be very popular in the evening for food. Peroni on tap! Excellent!!
Cons: The Silver room was excellent but the quirky fixtures & furniture detracted from the practicality of the room. The hand held shower in the bath was a disappointment, I'd believed there was a shower as well as a bath. The toilet had a motion activated light. If you go during the night it's like lazer beams! Also took ages to turn itself back off.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Combination of a good pub, a classy restaurant and great food, with comfortable interesting rooms. The staff were superb - very friendly with great attention to detail.
Cons: Location is not picturesque - it’s not a country hotel - and the car park is a bit tight, but the hotel itself makes up for this.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Food was amazing and staff were really lovely! Room was perfect with a very comfortable bed.
Cons: Nothing, was perfect!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The bathtub was amazing and the service was lovely
Cons: The breakfast wasn’t as amazing as expected and the room ceilings were not pre-warned
