Pros: Very good resort linked with wwf to protect turtles and we had the opportunity to see the birth of lots of turtles
Cons: breakfast buffet was very poor if compared to price paid, lunch and dinner are ok. it is possible to change some plates if arranged in advance.
Pros: Amazing island, good restaurant
Cons: Too many plastic on the beach
Pros: Totally overpriced. No service. Bad food. Outdated facilities.
Cons: Then island and location
Pros: Magnificent view. And the turtle id is an meaningful activity.
Pros: The expertise of the staff at the dive centre and their conservation knowledge made our snorkelling trip extra special. We saw many turtles which really made our trip!
Pros: DO NOT STAY HERE, THERE IS NOTHING GOOD TO SAY ABOUT THIS SO CALLED 'RESORT'
Cons: POM POM ISLAND RESORT LEAVES A LOT TO BE DESIRED AND IS ABSOLUTELY NOT WORTH THE £500 A NIGHT WE PAID TO STAY HERE AS PART OF OUR HONEYMOON, ESPECIALLY GIVEN THAT YOU CAN STAY AT A 5* SHANGRI-LA HOTEL FOR A FRACTION OF THE PRICE OR EVEN THE MALDIVES! THE FOOD IS ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS AND COOKED IN ADVANCE AND THEN SERVED COLD ONCE YOU SIT DOWN (NOT TO MENTION THE CAT THAT WAS IN THE KITCHEN WHERE THEY COOK THE FOOD), THE ROOMS ARE INCREDIBLY DATED AND DIRTY AND THE ISLAND IS OK BUT ALL THE SURROUNDING CORAL HAS BEEN DESTROYED. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESORT TO ANYONE AND WOULD ADVISE THAT YOU THINK VERY CAREFULLY BEFORE SPENDING SO MUCH MONEY ON THIS RESORT WHICH ISN'T EVEN WORTH £100 A NIGHT. WE WERE UTTERLY SCAMMED BY POM POM ISLAND AND BOOKING.COM SHOULD NOT BE ACTING AS AN AGENT FOR THIS SO CALLED 'RESORT'.
Pros: The people working at this resort make this place really special. They always do their best to improve the service. Everybody has beautiful and sincere smiles. The diving team and the instructor Arno are great! The diving was excellent! Also the massages were amazing! The food is a bit repetitive, but plentiful. It is Chinese cuisine, because most of the guests are Chinese. The staff asked about our preferences and we got food that we liked more towards the end of our staying. The island is a small gem of white beach and jungle, never overcrowded. Unfortunately its shores get a lot of trash carried from the currents from the mainland, but the staff at the resort try to clean the resort beach once a day. It’s really a shame that such a wonderful place like this gets this amount of plastic and trash. Hopefully people in Semporna and in Malaysia will understand how to recycle and not throwing everything into the sea.
Cons: The return bus ride from Semporna to Tawau was one of the worst experiences of traveling for us, because the Air conditioning in the bus wasn’t working and the temperature with the humidity were unbearable. It was 90 minutes of hell.
Pros: The food on offer was a little same/same each day to start, but when asking the restaurant manager called Esa to cook something local he gladly obliged and there was no looking back, advice is to get to know Esa! The evening BBQ is worth the extra money at least once during your stay. The snorkelling was exceptional, so was seeing baby turtles released, but this is luck of the draw on timing. Also rent a kayak and go round the island, it takes about an hour, but worth the effort!
Cons: Takes a little journey time in getting there, but worth the effort. Opposite side of island beach not so well maintained.
