very child friendly hotel and staff, we had a 3 month baby with us and we had taken the gourmet package, the staff were very accomodating and let us take the baby along..we we noticed that in the bathroom the shower curtain wasnt working well, the water would overflow onto the bathroom floor.. that can be corrected
Although it was winter, cold and raining we arrived and felt immediately welcomed. Warm inside the hotel and a warm welcome from al the staff. We had a comfortable room and we could enjoy our stay without any problems.
service,breakfast and location
Lovely location, reasonable sized room and clean. Staff rather aloof at arrival and not very helpful, though the lady on the last day was nice.
Room had space, staff was very educated and nice, Hotel place was beautiful and breakfast was good.
The location is excellent. We've been here before so we already know this. The service is very good and the breakfast was much better than the last time. We took the gastronomic package but the the two dinners (3-course & 5-course) were very disappointing. I'm sure the chef was not the same one we had a few years ago. The last time we had dinner at this hotel, the food was exceptional. Back then, it was truly a wonderful gastronomic experience. I would still recommend this hotel for the great location and the good service...but the dining experience was rather mediocre.
The location is wonderful. Overlooking a small river with a castle in the hills above. The restaurant was also excellent with both dinner and breakfast being very good. The only downside was the smell of our room. Although a non-smoking room, we suspect decades of smoking in the room has given it a very particular smell. My wife struggled to sleep with the smell. The room was otherwise clean.
Very nice and quiet surroundings Its remote location and difficulty to find it, even when using a Garmin road planner
Flexible staff, asked for my breakfast earlier, wasn't an issue! No room-cleaning during my stay!
Absolutely beautiful and exceptional location. Unfriendly, arrogant staff. Hotel with pretentions it doesn't live up to. Beautiful location, but otherwise no reason for 4-star rating (average 3-star in terms of service, room quality, facilities, etc). Quality of the food in the restaurant was mediocre (except for the - expensive - wine list that was quite good), and service was bad, unfriendly, inflexible and amateuristic. Room spacious but hardly decorated. Walls and carpet full of stains, looking like 10 years old (whereas the hotel is quite new). Rooms are noisy. All in all, exceptional location (must see: Bourscheid Castle!), but mediocre hotel and bad in terms of quality-price.
Vincent was terrific!! Nice fellow. We wish him the best. The restaurant service was horribly slow. We were amazed the first night. Then, on the 2nd night it took 2 Hours-10 minutes for us to have only two courses. We did not come again on the 3rd night, and would not stay there again.
Wonderful situation with very helpful and polite staff. The quality of the food is excellent and served perfectly but slow. The only problem was the waiting time at dinner, one night we waited 50 minutes for our starter, dinner takes up to 2 1/2 hours
The hotel was clean and comfortable, but it was the location that was amazing! Set in a valley overlooking the Sure River with a view of the castle.. it was idyllic. It was the most quiet, peaceful hotel I have ever stayed in.
Hotel is situated in the middle of nature. Peaceful location next to a lovely stream. Food was fine, but not up to culinary standards. Personal is really trying their best to make guests happy, but are understaffed so service could be improved even more. Beds are luxuriously soft and comfi, but you have to like this. Superior room is very spacious and has beautiful bathroom. Hotel is "in the middle of nowhere" so not much options for going out or having dinner in another restaurant. The kitchen had trouble in preparing the steaks (mixed up the sauce, well-done/medium), we had to send it back. But then it came back perfect. There was glass on the floor in the room, and even after telling the manager, it was still there (after they've vacuumed). In our opinion it was not right that the manager corrected his staff in front of the guests.
the view and the peacefulness
Position and good reception staff
The overall location in a meander of the river is attractive. The nearby ruins of the castle of Bourscheid are worth visiting and can be seen from the hotel grounds. Supper was excellent (35€ menu) and personnel attentive. Breakfast was very good too, fresh home-baked bread was a topper. On the Booking.com site we booked non-smoking rooms, but there were no non-smoking rooms. Unfortunately our clean and beautiful room had been used just before by very heavy smokers. Because of that we had to sleep with the window open leading to another problem: the train passing by every hour awoke us a bit too often. With everything closed the night-trains are not a problem we suppose.
Peaceful & relaxing At the time of booking room included meals, we could only eat between 6.00-8.00pm
The kitchen is excellent, copious breakfast. Bed comfortable (although not with double bed). Bathroom is high standard. Parking is not provided, difficult to find place around. Heating was not working upon arrival and only started to be warm in the room at 5 a.m.
Superb location, quiet village, nicely renovated streets and hotel too. Excellent for an excursion trip to learn Luxemburg. Good food, fast service. Friendly waiters. The hotel is listed as a 4 star hotel, but it doesn't reach that level, it's rather a 3 star performance, it's overpriced for the luxury rooms. We booked the "Design Deluxe Studio" through Booking.com, but didn't get it, though the pricing stayed! Room floor and jacuzzi were not clean, lot's of hairs left from previous guests. Owners must have abandoned smiling years ago. Rather didn't want to complain not to spoil our weekend. It's not bad at all, actually good, but the rating should be reviewed and the pricing, plus some professional attitude (to get 4*) to be added.
The hotel restaurant is excellent - location is very pretty
Great shower and steam bath in our room. Food service very accommodating throughout day and very good. No elevator and the room we had was up some very winding narrow stairs so we left our suitcase in car and had to bring clothes up as needed.
The restaurant is excellent; the bedroom small but extremely clean, the area wonderful carrying suitcases all through the stairs
Well situated in Esch. Nice terrace for drinks/ dinner. Interesting old building. The food in the restaurant was not great, and overpriced given the quality. Also, the "wellness" centre and whirlpool is rather overstated, being a small jacuzzi bath for one person, and a small sauna that you have to request to use in the morning. Although it is a nice hotel, I think it has too grand an opinion of itself.
Great location for motorcycle trip. Superb staff, very helpful and friendly. Excellent food.
Excellent service by the staff, clean rooms and facilities, excellent menu, handy location to many attractions and city, small town atmosphere. Lack of English translation on menu, no tea and coffe making facilities in room or in amenities areas, breakfast buffet crowded.
Staff were friendly. Village location was nice Bed was uncomfortable. Room in the attic was very small and claustophobic, not like the photos on the website. Showerhead needed descaling. Food was very disappointing - i had a vegetarian pan dish that looked like it had all the leftovers just chucked into a pan. Describing a few home trainers squeezed into a dingy cellar is not my understanding of a "gym". Not the fault of the hotel, but very important to mention for those light sleepers like me - every 30 minutes during the night the church bell rang, wakening me up each time. At 06:30 it rang out for at least 2-3 minutes, and after that sounded every 15 minutes, so planning a lie-in is impossible. I found thïs hotel was not 'gourmet & relax" and my "comfort"room uncomfortable
Our bedroom itself was very comfortable and the hotel grounds are pleasant. There was ample parking space when we where there, although parking might be a problem when the hotel is busy. The map for and directions to the hotel are wrong - it is actually located in Gaichel , about two miles from Eischen. When we arrived (in the pouring rain) the Hotel reception was closed and we had to book in at another hotel about 100 yards away, The Hotel says it has its own restaurant but this was closed the evening we were there. The nearby hotel offered only "gourmet" meals for a minimum of 48 Euros per head so we had to go to Arlon for dinner. The stairs to the bedrooms are very steep and narrow (no lift) and both younger and older people found it difficult to carry luggage up them. Our bathroom was very small and poorly laid out and the combined bath and shower unit was, in our opinion, very difficult to use safe
Nice staff, good basic food, easy to find, beautifull surroundings Dated, worn carpets, dated bathroom, dated room, quite hot, no airco.
Everything - the room, the cleanliness, the friendliness and local knowledge of the owner and staff, the excellent food (I would recommend the half board option), the atmosphere of the hotel, its location (great for touring surrounding area), and its price (fantastic value for a hotel of this calibre). Access to shower a bit on the tight side.
Owners went out of their way to ensure the needs of the customer were met in relation to my wife and I. The location is a little off the beaten track when trying to access the main European routes.
friendly staff, nice location near to nature, good value, clean and newly renovated room
Very nice and quite rooms, excellent bathroom, good restaurant, reasonable price
Picturesque location, very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food in restaurant. Rooms OK (a bit small) with very modern fittings etc
Location was excellent for our battle field touring. Service was exceptional and quality of food was great.
The staff were friendly, helpful and accomodating, rooms were clean.Access from car to hotel was good. We felt room a little cluttered, if the large couch was replace by a chair there would have been more room and no one offered to help with luggage.
Everything. the hotel was immaculately clean, The staff were excellent so attentive but not intrusive. The restaurant service and food again excellent. We both loved it and would go back there again with no hesitation. It is an absolute gem. We were recently at a 5 star hotel in Spain where the staff and management would benefit from visiting this hotel and learn just how to run a hotel.
Very unfriendly staff when arriving...rest was OK.
Convenient location, friendly and helpful staff and management, excellent food and restaurant service, lovely surrounding countryside and towns.
Friendly greeting on arrival, helpful staff, room spacious and tastefully decorated and furnished, great location in beautiful part of Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, fabulous view from room. Restaurant great food if a little pricey!
Great location for exploring the Ardennes / Bastogne region. Good size rooms, well decorated. Friendly staff. Shopping centre nearby.
Excelllent family run hotel, staff were all very pleasant, room were very clean and nicely decorated. Resturant was good. No bad points
It is a grea\t family run hotel that is friendly, welcoming and professional. Nothing
everything was excellent. only one small point, bacon and at breakfast were cold.
Good service, beautiful location, great food, very nice room, nice pool. none
Excellent food in resetaurant in the evening, nice setting Poor breakfast, room resembled a lodge even though we upgraded to a suite
The facilities and comfort as well the location We woudl have preffered a bed with double mattres
The hotel is beautiful, staff amazing. Met at door, welcomed, shown to room. Room beautiful, Terrence overlooking garden and town. Food was wonderful, chef came out to greet guests and ask how our meal was. Once at hotel location is great, beside the castle and in the middle of old Wiltz. The hotel is hard to find from train station, too far to walk and no taxi. We took local bus which was ok as we got to see quite a bit of Wiltz we wouldn't have seen on foot. Not a complaint just a note. Most guests arrive by car so not an issue.
i think the staff was nice and we had a good visit at the hotel
Stay in this hotel was definitelly one of most pleasurables in my recent travels - nice location, clean and without smoke, staff ready with help, good family like athmosphere and good food. I would like to mention a restaurant, which is really excellent place for dinners. Difficult to find anything wrong with the place.
Nice Clean Hotel Staff were a bit light in numbers during checkin and breakfast
The fact that there was free wireless internet access in the room came in very useful, as well as the fact that it is centrally located in Luxembourg. My room was at the back, exactly next to the kitchen exhaust, resulting in a smelly night when leaving the windows open.
The room was comfortable and the breakfast was really good, and self-service, so you could have whatever and however much you wanted. 1. Location was on a main road, and therefore very noisy. 2. Service was almost non-existent, waiting 10 minutes for someone at reception each time, and breakfast was totally unstaffed. 3. Plumbing in the bathroom was poor, and some of the lights in the bedroom did not work. 4. Considering this has a Gourmet restaurant food was pretty average. 5. The main dining room, for which we had booked, had been taken over by a wedding reception, but we had not been informed, and there was no apology.
it was quiet The odor in de hotel, we smell the kitchen. Especially the fisch smell was not plesant.
The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful--a very pleasant stay!! A gorgeous setting and spotless room-would select again.
The best hosts ever. Excellent location an leaves no scope for improvement. Very reasonably prices. The hotel has an excellent restaurant. The breakfast is also excellent The bathroom was small but had all amenities
Location, service Bathroom
Beautiful location with very friendly staff. Certainly hope to be able to return
Good friendly staff, excellent restaurant as well
Located in Diekirch, Luxembourg, it was conveniently located near the pedestrianised city streets. The room was comfortable and very clean. The breakfast was continental. The staff were friendly but spoke very little English. It is over priced at 85 euros a room.
location check in time is too late, especially in off season
Helpful and friendly staff. Comfortable rooms. Secure parking. Good food
the room was clean & adequate. The lady at reception was very polite when I arrived. the service at breakfast was terrible. Very unwelcoming. I was given a plate of jam & a couple of rolls & left for almost half an hour before I was given a ham & cheese, and only after I asked.
Very good bed The church bell in the morning
Location No aircondition
The hotel was in the center of Diekirsh, so everything was close! It was very clean and the staff friendly! It has nice bathroom!!! Few of the the staff knew english...
staff were kind, but didn't speak English; dinner was excellent no air-conditioning and no air flow; next to main road - noisy; no iron; no laundry service; breakfast was sparse; no one spoke English; room decor is dated;
cleanness of room Noisey street, lack of parking, overpriced
Great location, nice and helpful staff, and good breakfast. For the location and the service, the price was reasonable.
Location was great for visiting the Military Museum. Parking was good but charged to much. Breakfast was wonderful. Younger Manager was very-very nice and helpful. Hotel was still locked up an hour prior to offical check in time. Older Manager who checked us in was not rude but was not at all friendly.
Photo of Hotel looked as if it was in a Park. Actually it has a main road in front of it! Also no restaurant in evening
comfort, good location
Convenience of parking - Elevator (small) - Clean room - Walking distance to restaurants and museum - good for adult travellers only Front desk staff did not make us feel welcome. Seemed to have an unfriendly attitude toward our family which has 2 small children. Did not have a high chair in breakfast room. Offered limited information about local restaurants when asked.
It was close to the train station The drain of the douche was a little bit blocked. So the whole floor of the bath room was wet.
Good service, nice clean rooms, located centrally, beautiful environment, parking space. I'd like to have eggs at breakfast.
Charm. Great location. Helpful staff.
Personel contact / friendly atmosphere / accomodation. Early in season: kitchen not yet open / staffed for diner. There was however plenty of choise in restaurants in the immediate surroundings (Diekirch)
The hotel is in a small, nice town in the middle of Luxembourg and a good central point if you want to explore the whole country Old and dark interior, no minibar or coffee making opportunity although we stayed in the larger "apartment" room. Check out was at 11 and breakfast only until 9.30 - that doesn't reall invite to a leisure weekend
The room was large enough to accomidate 2 adults a child and an infant, very clean and simply decorated. When we arrived a 6pm it was 0 degrees celcius outside and they had all the windows open and no heat on, the room was very cold and the bathroom was almost unbearable. Breakfast area was not easy to find
The polite, helpful staff added to the pleasant ambiance. Our junior suite was very large and comfortable. The restaurant was cozy and the food was enjoyable with some traditional luxembourgoise choices on the menu. A little difficult to find with a weathered, faint sign pointing the way. There is also an active construction site next to the hotel.
The atmosphere in this lovely renovated old building ---------------------------------------------------------------
Hotel is traditional and positioned in the most beautiful setting by the bank of the river and with a ruined castle above. The rooms are clean and well appointed with lovely views. Breakfast is very wholesome and served in a clean and attractive dining room. The hotel smells of cigarette smoke very badly. The only places that did not smell of smoke were the bedroom and breakfast room. The staff were a bit surly and we were overcharged for two cups of tea in the bar (7 Euros).
breakfast was OK, staff was friendly both the room and bathroom were very small and there was nothing in it to make it more cosy. The furnishing was poor, the toilet was too low. there was not a table to sit on for example to write just a very low table.
+ We had asked for and paid for a double, but since they had a family room open up they gave it to us, no extra charge. + breakfast was very good -The restaurant was very expensive
Good view - convenient stop off. Pretty place Staff a little off hand but basically pleasant
Beautiful castle behind hotel is very picturesque Overpriced
Esch-Sur-Sure is a great little town! We reserved a non-smoking room, but everything around our room seemed to be smoking, and our room smelled.
Convenience of location between France and Germany The standard of Management and Cooking was poor. The Chef was particularly skilled with a tin-opener. The "half-board menu" was given to us on the back of a beer mat! We were not offered any other option but to take what they had selected and what arrived was not what we were told.
Esch/Sûre is a very pittoresque village. The situation is calm. The reception smells cigarettes smoke. The hotel hasn't been redone for years. Only ceiling lighting in the room to be switched off at the door. Fluroesent light over the bed did'nt work.
The hotel staff - wonderfully helpful. Plenty of free parking. Great location overlooking the river. Glad to see elevator. Breakfast is included, but needs improvement in selections available.
Location - we particularly wanted to be in Esch sur Sure. Receptionist was inattentive and smoking when we arrived. Sent us to a room already occupied and waited until we went back down 2 floors (with our luggage) to tell us. Shower was very poor - needed a good service. Overall decor was 'tired'. Staff were sloppy - dressed in jeans in the restaurant in the evening. Half board was a limited 'no choice' menu although the food we were served was cooked well. Breakfast was taken in a very dull room and very limited choice - it felt as if items hadn't been replaced as it was 'end of season' (eg. very limited choice of jams and yogurts - peach or apricot!). Check-out was performed by the cleaner who just happened to be in reception at the time and appeared to be the only person on duty.
Almost nothing Yes, it was very dirty, a lot of flies. The room was very dissapointing because it was very small. The breakfast was very poor.
We found it a good price/quallity ratio. Friendly personel, the manager 'Chef' was very trusting and correct. ...we missed eggs at our breakfast.
Very nice restaurant. We booked a family room for us to stay in with 2 adults and 2 children. The hotel had 'overbooked', and now we had to go in 2 rooms. We had the impression though that there were hardly any other guests.
The people were kind and friendly. The room was nice and clean. The English of some staffmembers is not so well. They didn't explain how to go inside after closingtime, so we had to wake up the owner. Breakfast was simple not much choice of variation.
