Pros: Located in a beautifully restored chalet it is a lovely mix of old and new! Period pieces of restored furniture mixed with modern technology (massive TV in living room). The large bedroom had a very comfortable bed and adjacent bathroom was one of the finest equipped I've seen. The attention to detail is throughout the entire B&B and the hosts couldn't be nicer or more helpful. The location is excellent and just a 3 minute walk to the WWI museum which is well worth a visit. Exceptional Breakfast!

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Staff were excellent and provided all the help that we asked for. The location was great, right in the centre of town and with parking either right outside or in the adjacent square. The apartment was big and airy with all the provisions you may need if you were self catering. Plenty of crockery and cutlery, fridge, cooker etc. Lovely and clean and very secure
Cons: Bed was a bit soft and low for my liking but nothing drastic. It might be slightly improved by offering some English language TV which would help for families/wet days etc but again nothing drastic. An info pack might be a good idea too, market days (parking restrictions), local supermarket location etc

Hotel de la Basilique - Albert - Building
7
8.8 Excellent (230 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel de la Basilique in Albert, you'll be just steps from Notre Dame Basilica and Somme 1916 Museum.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: wonderful boutique hotel in the centre of Albert. Service excellent & staff really friendly & helpful. If you stay, you must book in the restaurant - you will not be disappointed. Excellent food & service.
Cons: Double glazed windows at the front which helps reduce the noise from the street overnight (you can get quite a drone from a car as it drives up through the town). Personally, if I stayed again, I would book a room at the rear of the hotel, but I am a light sleeper so for others it may not be an issue & the double glazing did help to a large extent. However, there is no air conditioning, so in warmer weather, these rooms may become uncomfortable which then becomes a trade-off between noise or coolness... Also, the shower floor is very slippery - it could do with an anti-slip mat in the bathroom.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This is a superb property. Staff are lovely and the food is excellent. We always stay here when in Albert
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, comfortable, large room, good bathroom. Free on-street parking
Cons: No elevator!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is very well located in central Albert, for both enjoying this pleasant French town and the battlefields around it. Although compact, the rooms are very comfortable with large beds and spotless bathrooms. Tea and coffee facilities are included as is free mineral water. The restaurant attached to the hotel is very good as are others in the immediate vicinity. The tourist information office is right next door where you can rent a bike, an arguably more relaxing and peaceful way of exploring the battlefields than by car.
Cons: A continental breakfast is 10 Euros extra per person; it is fresh and convenient although some might find this rather a lot to pay for cereal, bread, croissants etc.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Welcoming and friendly staff. Clean comfortable room and lovely shower. Dinner was very good and excellent value for money. Being on a motorcycle parking was fairy easy.
Cons: The room was a bit warm, fortunately, being on the second floor, I was able to have some of the windows open during the night. No plug point beside the bed, I use a CPAP device so this is important to me. Fortunately I carry an extension lead so was still able to use it.
7.5 Good
Pros: Pleasant staff and super location
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Enjoyable one night stay. No issues at all . Dinner was very good. Breakfast coffee also worth it. This hotel is better than 2 stars. Lack of stars I would say is absence of lift. Clean and tidy and central position.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: For a night stop in Albert, the hotel was ideal, with a very comfy bed and a spacious room. We also had a very good meal in the restaurant in the evening. I would definitely use the hotel again
Cons: Only a slight comment, it was quiet hot night and there was no air conditioning in the room, but we did know this when we booked.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location Good standard in rooms and facilities Don't know it is only rated 2 star

Pros: Monique was delightful and despite the language barrier she communicates well with voice translate. The bed was comfortable and breakfast was lovely. Delicious omelette freshly cooked by Monique.
Cons: We were disappointed we didn’t have an apartment as indicated on the booking so we could not cook and the rooms were quite small. The apartment would have been so much better but it was booked. This was not clear on the booking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I am Coeliac and using a French translation card I was able to be catered for, no problem. They offered to go to the supermarket for me for biscuits etc but I declined. I was happy with a choice of cheeses and the most wonderful omelette both days for breakfast. It is a as described. Pros: Great location in the heart of the town and easy parking close by. Really comfy bed and the linen was clean and fresh. The room was recently renovated and had all you need (except for cups even though there was a kettle but we thought this was probably an oversight) but poorly lit and no air conditioning. 10.0 Excellent
Cons: The usual very warm welcome from Tony and his staff. We hired 3 chalets which were just what we needed, but chalet 2 had very smelly drains which need attending to.
5.8 Okay
Pros: This was a tee pee it isn't quite what we expected and was very basic. We found the description of it rather misleading and had expected more for what eas describes as glamping
Cons: Double bed could only be reached by a vertical ladder making it impossible for us to use. So we slept in the 2 children's bed. The mention of having a Jacuzzi was somewhat exaggerated as the Jacuzzi was part of the swimming pool complex and not specifically for use by those in the Tee Pee. For the price paid a static caravan would have given better facilities
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location
5.0 Okay
Pros: Convenient location for route to Calais
Cons: The male toilet block was smelly. The town is not particularly appealing.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Tent was lovely. Perfect for overnight or few days. Pool was lovely too. Small shop with basics. Friendly owners/staff.

Pros: Friendly staff with excellent English.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely Staff and Facilities. Pool ok and Near canal walks. Good Facilities in town. Excellent stop on way to Calais.
Cons: Early check out and late check in, we only stayed one night so would have liked to check out later or in earlier to relax a bit before continuing our journey.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Cleanliness.
Cons: The location is great for school classes or other groups. Not so good for individual travelers. No one at the lobby. All electronic codes. No reading light.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Liked it all. Good breakfast included. Well worth cost. Good shower too.
Cons: Nothing I didn't like here.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Quiet and comfortable - slept magnificently. Great value for money if you're travelling on a tight budget.
Cons: Breakfast - chiselling selection of meat and cheeses (no meat; only cheese was one sort of processed cheese).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: If you are travelling on a budget this is the place for you. It is a youth hostel type of accommodation. It is spacious, clean and comfortable. The two of us had a room for five to ourselves. Large clean bathroom with great shower. The staff were helpful and friendly on our arrival. Keen to practice their English as we were our French. Breakfast was basic but plentiful and included in the price. Short walk to centre of town and great museum.
Cons: Read the arrival instructions carefully because it closes early. Get booked in then go and explore the town.
2.5 Mediocre
Cons: I had secured a private room with a private bathroom. When I arrived the fellow proceeded to show me to an open dormitory. When I mentioned I had a reservation for a private room he casually said that there weren't any available. I can understand things may change but do not make any effort to contact me so I could make another arrangement is completely unacceptable.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location ideally suited us (it was to break up a longer journey into Germany). The room was clean but basic, as was the breakfast. We travelled on motorbikes and the staff were very helpful offering a secure area to park
Cons: Always would love to see tea and coffee making in the rooms but accept that this is tends to be offered only consistently in the UK. Arrived gasping for a cuppa, and again when waking up the next morning! Really though, no complaints.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location super. Great value.
Cons: Not a thing.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was very clean and faced the grassy area behind the building. The beds were more comfortable than I thought they would be. We had bunk beds.
Cons: It was a little bit cramped. I had a family size room with 3 bunk beds. There was not a lot of room for your bags. Breakfast was a little more basic than I had hoped. But it met our needs.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Good communication before arriving. We had a bunk room which was quite adequate for our simple needs. Although the car park was about 100m down the road it was floodlit and secure we felt safe leaving our beloved motorbikes there. Auberge is just off the town centre, with a couple of eateries and bars.
Cons: We couldn't get internet access. There was a wedding reception at the Auberge at the time of our visit and the staff we pre-occupied with this and a bit thin on the ground. But the chap in the office was very helpful with the car park.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Clean, efficient & good value for money. The showers are great. Hostel type room for 4, but only used by me & my mate. Just surprised it’s not busier. Peronne is a nice place with good access to Western Front locations. Albert is better, but much more expensive.
Cons: Forgot to read my email about late check-in, so couldn’t get in for 20 minutes.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely rustic hotel
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good location in the town good free parking, Family run very good Restaurant we ate in good bar and Wine selection, the Lady made us a large 12 egg Omelette to share for breakfast good selection of Breads and Croissants with Fruit, Cheese, Jams etc the Family really look after you will go back again
6.3 Good
Pros: Decent pizzeria directly opposite; short walk to town centre with good coffee shops (Poppy Coffee Shop especially) and restaurants.
Cons: Arrived Saturday expecting to have dinner, only to be informed that the restaurant was closed; no further explanation was forthcoming, nor when it might open. Monday lunchtime it opened and remained so that night, by which time we'd made other arrangements. Even accepting the language barrier this was easy to improve.
7.5 Good
Pros: Friendly welcome, comfortable room. The hotel is five minutes from the town centre. Streety parking outside entrance.
Cons: I am not a great fan of continental breakfast but there was agood choice .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff, they were sympathetic to our basic french. The rooms had great facilities. Kettle etc.
Cons: Nothing. A great hotel.
7.5 Good
Pros: Old hotel but comfortable and welcoming, well located and with easy parking close by. Useful to have kettle and teamaking tray. Had good Sunday lunch in the hotel restaurant when much else closed in town. Noisy plumbing. Stayed one night, and enjoyed touring the ww1 memorials and learning history of the area.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location Comfortable, clean beds Plenty of extra towels and bedding Tea and coffee making facilities Fridge with complimentary bottled water Fans in the room on one of the hottest days/nights of the year You can eat on site however it was only a short walk into the centre of Albert to have dinner and drinks at the Hygge opposite the beautiful church We had a lovely stay in general and fully appreciated the host letting us into the property after he had clearly settled for the night, as we were unable to work the security lock to gain entry
Cons: It is advertised that the hosts do not speak English, which is surprising but only because of the location Makes communication difficult but not impossible Breakfast is additional at 11€ which when paying nearly 100€ for a room seems slightly overpriced
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Richard was a great host he has limited English but we could communicate A beautiful town and war history Food at hotel was wonderful French food a nice experience of a small French town
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: I'm struggling here!
Cons: The welcome was perfunctory, restaurant and bar were shut, breakfast was well below what should be expected. No hot water in taps or shower and the plug in the sink did not work. It is also on a busy main road.

7.5 Good
Pros: The dinner in the restaurant was wonderful. The food was beautifully presented and great quality for the price.
Cons: There was nothing we didn’t like. The hotel is a bit tired in places but everything worked well and it was a comfortable stay.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant with delicious meals.
7.5 Good
Pros: All was fine and easily found off the main routes
Cons: Nothing
4.3 Okay
Pros: Convenient location
Cons: Run down hotel and very basic room that needed updating. Small bed. Took the dog out for a walk and then got locked out and had to wait outside the hotel for another member of staff to turn up. Breakfast adequate.
6.3 Good
Pros: Comfortable room - i.e. warm and comfortable mattress/bedding Friendly staff Good food easy parking Welcoming to my dogs (allowed in the dining room) Good water pressure in shower/bath Good double glazing so the room wasn't noisy with road traffic
Cons: Room was small - two people rather fell over each other Decoration and furniture were clean and well maintained but old fashioned and basic No hair dryer supplied or tea making facilities No lift so taking luggage to the second floor was a struggle BUT they did offer help in carrying up cases I felt it was slightly on the expensive side for what was and wasn't on offer The location was cheerless - on a big road with quite a lot of traffic
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice clean hotel, friendly staff, good food
7.0 Good
Pros: it was sooo cute old style ! and nice on halloween eve !
Cons: we were not informed before that breakfast was10uro each extra the 2 person bed had a deep dent in the middle. I kept rolling in the dip all night
7.0 Good
Pros: It's located near FWW battlefields sites on the Somme. Evening meal was very good and breakfast was entirely adequate . The decor was homely
Cons: Walls between the rooms were paper thin - conversations on one phone could be heard in adjacent rooms. Bedrooms could do with an update.

3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Didnt like anything, very poor
Cons: No air con, Had not been working for 12 mths but advertised as having air con. Advertised restaurant but found to be closed apart from breakfast. Very poor lighting in bedroom Bed very uncomfortable Staff very un helpful
7.5 Good
Pros: I used this place whilst motorcycle touring. I was visiting some of the WW1 sites, the location is good for that. The place is like a motel with parking outside the room you stay in. Efficient staff. All good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff
Cons: Nothing
5.5 Okay
Pros: It was nice that the hotel was near the A1 - this was why we booked it as an in-between stop on our way home. And actually, this pretty much summarizes what we liked about it.
Cons: We knew this wasn't a luxury hotel but after our stays in other similar hotels the 2 nights before we were utterly disappointed (the other 2 hotels were and cheaper and way more comfortable - what a difference_) We had booked this room because booking mentioned that all rooms had air conditioning. This was something we were looking forward to after another day of moving in 37 C heat. When we informed the reception that our airco didn't function we were informed that airco had been suspended by the current owners. The room was extremely warm and not comfortable to sleep in. Hygiene needs some attention too: we found a number of objects (bandaid - q tips) that were not ours... We will definitely not return.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was good (if you visit the battlefields), staff was really friendly, the breakfast was good. This is an ok cheap and clean accommodation option in a place where there is not much available.
Cons: Lack of attention to detail (towels were clean but grey instead of white, the general aspect of thr place and rooms), some maintenance was required (broken coat hanger in the room, vinyl coming off walls) and nowhere to put luggage on, no hangers, etc.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Less than 10 km from motorway to Paris. On the outskirts of village.
Cons: The coverlet smelt bad.
7.5 Good
Pros: Out of town motel OK, fairly basic but suited our purpose
6.3 Good
