I liked the location and cleanliness of the room. Excellent standard.
the locaion and cleanliness and the good value in hotel restaurant
Brilliant Hotel - little dated exterior but the rooms very very modern and spacious! We went for the lakeside view room and its was great, we had a little balcony and could sit out and look over the lake. Would recommend this place and hotel to anyone!
Very very good will go back again very soon we hope
the renovations are complete and the bedrooms have been fitted out to a high standard TV in room had only French channels. I would expect at least one news channel such as CNN. The dining room seemed undersized and refused us a table for 2 for dinner on arrival claiming they had no space. No apology was offered. All unacceptable treatment for residents.
The staff were very helpful with any problem we had as our french is not that good.
Not very much!! The general feeling was that we were disappointed & after many years of staying in French hotels this one was the first bad one. Some of the staff were very condescending towards guests.
pool and extras therein
The view over the lake and the lovely spa. As it was rainy the inside pool was great with the kids. Bagnoles is very pretty and restful. The velo-train at the old station is really fun. The hotel was helpful in giving us two rooms opposite each other as requested. The staff were helpful and kind when our daughter broke a vase. We thought breakfast was a bit expensive and did not eat there in the evening for the same reason. But the breakfast was very nice. We did not mind not having tea/coffee in the rooms but people might miss them on a longer stay.
Hotel closes its facilities on mondays (bar/restaurant etc.) No problem but the price stayed the same. € 140,- without breakfast and no facilities at all is way to expensive. So the hotel was a big disappointment.
Excellent accommodation and setting. Close to good walks. Bagnoles was a very nice small town with bars and restaurants to hand. Service was excellent. Disappointed in the initial state of the room. Lots of flies in the room, many of which were dead on the floor. Whilst the presence of flies is something to be expeceted in a rural, the presence of many dead flies on the floor. Also, the room was cold, with no ability to control the room temperature locally. After several attempts the hotel staff overoad the system. This indicated to us that the room had not been checked before we took up residence. After these initial problems. the rest of the stay was very good.
Excellent room and restaurant. Very relaxed and friendly staff in a hotel just outside a pleasant spa town.
The extensive grounds and the outdoor pool area were superb. We were disappointed to find no tea/coffee making facilities in the hotel bedrooms - the prices of food and wines were very high (e.g. Beaujolais Village 2006 31 Euros)
the food and ambience
excellent helpful reception comfortable bed quiet no noisy children pretty location english language newspaper available
We like the situation of the hotel, the decor and the rooms This is our 2nd visit & it was disappointing. During breakfast, vacated tables were being set for lunch & tablecloths ironed. Dinner was not the Michelin standard we expected. During check-out, the Proprietors carried on a conversation between themselves and I felt they were rude. Customers/clients are not respected now.
We were only staying at Le Manoir for 1 night, in transit, and so we din't get the opportunity to use any of the facilities which was a shame as they looked excellent.
Very well appointed hotel that seems to deserve more than a two star rating. The room was spacious and the bed was wide and comfortable. The window had electric shutters and gave a pleasant view on the fountain at the head of the main shopping area.Staff were friendly and helpful.Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby for when we chose to eat away from the hotel's excellent restaurant. No
Room etc good dinner only adequate Menu rather basic
good hotel. I don't join the club of sour complainers who allways pinpointing things. In some country's it start to be a national sport, like in holland...
Imaginative decor; friendly, efficient staff; owners very attentive - quickly repired broken electric shutter and cleared car of snow. Warm room; lovely ensuite with hot shower. Good meals. Breakfast was nine euros per head (8.50 in advert)- a little expensive?
The location and standard of the furnishings. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff
A beautiful, bright, stylish and very comfortable hotel. Everything is new and spotlessly clean. It was the perfect place for a relaxing weeks break whilst visiting family in France. Breakfast was very relaxed with self-service in the lovely bright breakfast room providing fresh traditional French cuisine. The restaurant serves the most wonderful food at lunchtime and evening. We enjoyed lunch outside, in the hot sunshine, on the terrace and dinner in the sylish restaurant. I cannot praise the owners enough. Martine and Gervais work tirelessly to ensure, high standards are met and, their customers are comfortable. No bad points
The room, the staff, the food.
Location in town centre. Nicely decorated, comfortable bed. Friendly helpful staff. Evening meal excellent, but lots of restaurants nearby too. Good value for money. Had to keep door open as no a/c, so heard very noisy revellers in a nearby cafe, then their motorbikes later.
The standard room we booked was extremely nice - with bed and breakfast for £100 a couple very good value. Room was a good size with a large comfortable double bed, and all very clean. The bathroom was also very clean a good size, with marble effect finish. The breakfast provided a good choice with bread etc... refreshed during service to ensure it was fresh. The staff were very helpful and friendly although they had limited command of English which for us added to the charm. The swimming pool although not big was clean and ample for it's purpose. A refreshing treat. I can't fault the hotel location or the welcome or cleanliness. I would not hesitate to recommend it. The evening meal we had was a little pricy (started at 25 euro's for a two course meal up to about 50 euro's per person, 16 euro's for a cheap bottle on wine ranging to very expensive). That said we couldn't fault the food it's self and service (which was Cordon Bleu style incl half pigeon, sole etc...). To eat elsewhere would mean a short drive.
I liked the country setting and walks and the relaxed atmosphere around the swimming pool. The free bikes were in a terrible condition and unroad worthy. The gourmet food was let down by a very poorly prepared main course (lamb).
The restaurant was superb. The best food we had in Normandy, which says a lot because we had a lot of good food. Parts of the room had not been dusted in quite a while.
The staff was very friendly in accomodating us and the petite mason was perfect for my brother and I. No
Staff amiable and helpful. beautiful hunting lodge. nice food, good breakfast with great coffee! Bedroom sombre needs more lighting. surprised not one vegetarian dish on the menu.
A very nice Renaissance "hunting pavillon" right in the middle of a deep forest. A calm and cosy place to rest. Rooms are rather noisy as the structure is old and poorly insulated. This is not really acceptable in such a pricely hotel.
The hotel in in a superb countryside seting, large bedroom and great atmosphere. Quiet setting
Comfortable large room, lovely grounds Rather formal, food quite expensive, reception not particularly welcoming
The recently renovated and refurbished room; dinner was imaginative and well served with a good wine -list. Well maintained car-park.
Friendly helpful staff and an immaculately maintained hotel. None.
Lovely views from rear upstair windows & private car park. Nice clean hotel in a quiet location. No hot water from the shower although there was some hot water available in the sink. No bath in bathroom only a shower. Quite a walk to the town centre.
The hotel was very good and there was plenty of parking
Charming, typically french privately-owned hotel with clean and adequate room. It was very hot in the night. The heating seemed to be turned on despite it being a very warm June weekend and the rooms facing the road were a bit noisy.
It was an individual hotel run by the owners. It had character, having been built in the Edwardian era. Good evening meal, in a pleasant restaurant and very good breakfast.
THE staff were very helpful No
A very good location natural view
Friendly, helpfull staff. excellent location and views on lakeside opposite to casino, yet close to all shops and restaurents.
the hotel is good value rooms small but cosy bathroom good size great location all in all good hotel nothing
I arrived on crutches and they immediately changed our room for easier access. The room was exceptionally clean and the refurbishment completed to a very high standard. Fixtures and fittings excellent , the first hotel I have ever stayed at providing more than enough wardrobe space. Beautiful location next to the lake and interesting small shops. We stayed on a Tuesday, out of season the restaurant is only partially open so I cannot comment on the restaurant, but the setting and menu looked impressive. I would highly recommend this hotel. The owners are young and very enthusiastic, they also speak very good English. No complaints at all.
Location, price, room Limited breakfast options which made it poor value (7.5 euro).
The Lady Receptionist was first class both when arriving and departing. She also advised us of the French strike problem with respect to petrol. As a result we could take corrective action. The dinner menu was very limited - the worst we came across on this holiday. The head waiter would be better in a role that did not involve meeting guests. The "Superior Room" was disappointing.
The owners could not have been more helpful, welcoming and pleasant. They made our one night stay a pleasure.
Our room was bright, spacious and very comfortable. The staff were all friendly and helpful, in particular the receptionistl I would have liked a little more choice for breakfast.
The hotel was conveniently situated in the town and offered good value The room was very small
The oldy worldy charm of the hotel was lovely. We only stayed overnight but we couldn't have been made more welcome. The receptionist was very nice and spoke good English (unlike ourselves with the French speaking, shame on us). Breakfast was a little sparce but adequate... This is not a case of did not like but more for information - the hotel is on an slight and does have a few steps to the entrance so if you are on foot just to be aware..If however, you are in a car then you can go around the back where they do have a disabled access.
Friendly welcome and spotlessly clean. We didn't feel the breakfast was value for money.
The room is clean and locates in the coutry side but has much choice for restaurants. The neighbour took a bath at midnight and so loud that we can not sleep well.
Easy to find, good central location. Room, although not very large had everything we needed, including good en suite facilities. For the price we paid - 46 euros excellent value for money, We were very fortunate and were able to park in the hotel grounds, but parking is very limited.
Enjoyed our stay at Hotel Christol, the location was excellent just a short walk to the town, found some great places to eat and drink and the setting at the lake was lovely. The Hotel was clean and friendly, ideal just as a base. Woud certainly go back to Bagnoles and Hotel Christol again. Only problem was the bathroom, the shower was quite small for my husdand who is over 6ft and a larger towel would have been handy, but that is a minor point.
location and price no
Homely hotel - good value for money good location Bathromm facilites need updating
in a good place to explore the town, an excellent restaurant nearby.Good breakfast and helpful staff.
The hotel was very clean and the rooms comfortable enough for one night or a weekend. We didn't feel very welcolmed.
Excellent restaurant Rooms were a bit scruffy
We picked this hotel because it could accomodate an extra bed for our daughter in the room. In actual fact we got a separate adjoining room which contained a sofa bed and sink, which was reasonable value for €75 although the furniture was a bit old and grubby. Our room also had a balcony overlooking the garden (the others don't), which had a swing that our 4-year old daughter enjoyed playing on. The hotel is very dated & needs a good clean and re-decorate. I read in the description it had recently been renovated - maybe the public areas have but the rooms themselves are shabby. The location is also pretty bad - right on a busy main road in the middle of nowhere, no facilities nearby at all. We were very disappointed on arrival. The town of Falaise (30 mins away) has better places to stay.
Rooms were clean and comfortable and staff friendly and welcoming It was a shame that neither the restaurant nor bar were open on Sunday evening
Restaurant was good, the quality of the room was good. Could not check in until 6:00pm on the Saturday even though on the booking form it said from midday. Had to wait until someone arrived to check out by 8:30.
Catherine & Plillipe were superb hosts, really looked after us, and have made the rooms very stylish and comfortable There was nothing to dislike
quiet at night,no noise, good location for touring local area. arrived saturday night, bar was closed at 7p.m when we arrived, didn't open sunday night,no breakfat sunday morning.
The room was uncomfortable, basic and quite shabbily furnished. There were no facilities either in the room or at the hotel so we were unable to get anything to eat or drink from our arrival until the following breakfast. There was no staff on duty after 5.00pm so the hotel was noisy with people wandering the corridors banging doors etc until early hours of the morning. The breakfast provided was of a poor standard and overpriced at 7 euros
Clean bedding, friendly staff
No food, no staff after 6pm, wrong codes on booking forms for door entry, very very frustrating after 7hr drive.
Very good food. The staff were very attentive and the parking was good.
Staff extremeley helpful, made welcome and sorted ou the extra bed we required Family rooms do not anticipate 3 children - the family suite was very hard to fit the roll-awa bed into
None Automated check in procedure failed. Telephone contact to remote location necessary to obtain entry details. Restaurant closed on arrival at 2000hours. No breakfast facilities at any time.
Easy to find No facilities for getting a drink , bar never open , restaurant never open , no vending machine , no tea or coffee facilities in the room !
The room was spacious and very comfortable and the staff extremely friendly.
We booked the double room special offer for 1 night. The initial room offered was rather small however the receptionist offered us a larger room which was fine. the staff were friendly and the room was clean.
Ecouche is a lovely rural little town with an interesting history. The food in the hotel should be Michelin starred because it is exquisite. I would recommend the hotel to anyone.
Spoke english, clean, tidy, welcoming We asked for a bed for a 4 year old and got a cot... so I slept on the floor.
Excellent food - outside on th terrace, very quiet, a really nice room with both bath and shower.
The staff was very helpful and attentive. The food was excellent. We were not told the hotel was being remodeled. The entire first floor was gutted. There was a very strong odor of paint in our room. It was making my companion sick so we had to leave. A major pain, and delayed our business appointments.
The hotel was superbly placed for the ferry at Ouistreham and easy to reach off the motorway. The food was excellent and everything very clean. The village, historically , was very interesting and well signposted with information. All in all the ideal spot for us. We aim to use it regularly on our frequent trips. Nothing serious but I would like to have found someone in reception on my arrival. However, I know it is a small hotel and the staff work very hard. When the staff were around, they were extremely kind and helpful.
Charming hotel with perfect service. Excellent value for money. Very good dinner. Nothing
The Lion D'Or is clearly a work in progress with the major renovations currently taking place, which were noted on the website. The service was attentive and friendly. The restaurant is very attractively set out and demonstrates the aspirations of the young couple. The menus were creative and the food beautifully presented. Our room had an obvious musty damp smell and the table lamps really need to be adjacent to the bed.
Excellent hotel with very high standard of accommodation. Friendly staff super food and all at a very good price.
One of the best 2 star hotels we've ever stayed in. We can't praise it too highly. The room was ultra modern, well equipped and very clean. The restautant/food were of an extremely high standard even for France and the staff were friendly, competent and attentive. Any body who loves France will love this hotel None
Really clean comfy room with lovely wooden floors. Great location, looked like the best hotel in town. We had to change rooms because the noise from the bar stopped us sleeping. The hotel staff were incredibly helpful so this wasn't a huge problem and didn't spoil our stay.
It was a very nice experience Nothing
The food in the Terrace was excellent, and an excellent value. Service, also very good. The biggest problem was that so few staff people spoke English. So, it was hard to get a sheet instead of a blanket, difficult to explain that we wanted a room without a cot in the middle of the room. It was hard to get information. And the hotel did not have an iron for guest to use. This is standard in the usa in hotel rooms. People who did speak English were helpful. And the wait staff were so nice, even though they did not speak English. Lovely town, lovely area for visiting.
The bed was comfortable. The reception was a little indifferent, and, having waited over ten minutes to be served in the otherwise very pleasant outside bar/restaurant, we gave up and went elsewhere.
Exceptionally comfortable bed. Great restaurant. Good location. Helpful Staff. Slow getting to table for dinner, even though booked.
A yery attractive town for an overnight stop. Bathroom
Modern, clean hotel which in our opinion was much better than a 2* hotel. Lack of service when we arrived. Nothing else to fault.
I liked stylish room and that all fittings were of excellent quality. Wonderfully comfortable bed and peaceful room. Lack of hot drink making facilities in our room.
