Location was wonderful.
Very nice room. Quiet location. NIce garden. Helpful and friendly staff. Good walks in the area. Breakfast uninspiring. Food in brasserie of variable quality.
With a one-year old we found the staff very helpful and they went out of their way to make a meal that he could eat. A previous review comment made us think that the waiting staff wouldn't be very helpful to English speaking guests but we found if we tried the very basic French we know they were more than helpful and we muddled through (reception staff talk wonder English and will help if struggling). When we visit our friends again we will definately use Hotel Meyer again. Only thing I can think of being negative is that a kettle in our room would have been very helpful for heating baby bottles. If you are bringing a baby it might be a good idea to invest in a travel kettle.
Everything. Excellent hotel.
Nice swimming pool and hotel garden. Good breakfast. Overpriced restaurant. Children were charged 20 euros for a small schnitzel. Family room consisted of 3 real beds and one couch bed.
The spacey, comfortable room. being at the front side, the noise of the street early in the morning.
Comfortable hotel at good location for making long nature walks. Spacious and comfortable room. Good swimming pool. Free wireless Internet. Clientele is mixture of French-speaking elderly couples and Dutch-speaking large families. Good (non-gourmet) restaurant. Restaurant is overpriced. Background music in public areas is irritating.
Staff is very friendly and helpfull. Rooms are very clean. Quit and relaxing environment.
The room was really big and very clean. The garden and solarium are lovely. It was quiet and extremely relaxing. Why is there no soap in the bathroom. People like to wash their hands after they go to the toilet! ... The TV was very small, but we didn't use it anyway.
Superb Room. Great breakfast. Location very good for Public Transport.
the location and the view of the hotel are breathtaking, staff was very nice and helpfull, gurmet dinner was a first class meal but not overpriced. no
Helpfull staff. Clean and up-to-date buildings. Please be aware that "suite" does not imply a 2 room appartment (just a private balcony and jaccuzi compared to the luxury room).
Cleanliness excellent, good breakfasts Room 211 at front was extremely noisy. Would only recommend the hotel on the basis of quiter rooms at the rear,
The staff went to great trouble to make this a romantic stay as my partner and I celebrated our one year anniversary. Fantastic staff, great location and a filling breakfast.
Friendly staff and facilities Room needed renovation - program currently underway
Restaurant, good secure parking facilities
Great room with wonderful views of the castle from the balcony Unfortunately, stay was spoiled by noisy people in the next room. I dont appreciate having to get up at 2.45am to tell them to shut up!
Very clean modern room and bathroom. Beds were comfortable.
At the night beautiful view to the Vianden palace. Excellent menu and very delicious food.
Convenient to explore the medieval town. Interesting old building. Make sure you book parking space or you could have a problem.
The hotel was clean, attractive, comfortable and in a great location. Our room had a lovely balcony, with vines and greenery that gave a nice feeling of privacy. The bathroom was fresh and up to date. The owners were very friendly. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
Large, comfortable rooms, very good food. Motorcycle garage, Friendly owner. Bit light on staff, owner seemed to be doing most jobs (restaurant, bar)
All round great hotel lovely staff, very clean beautiful building and furniture.
The owners were great. The breakfast was very good and the service was excellent. The couple worked to make our stay a good one. No
The ambiance in the hotel is excellent, food is excellent. Hotel staff extremely obliging, wonderful location would definitely stay again.
Great location in Vianden! Staff upgraded our triple room to 2 doubles with a bathroom in between...however, the triple room (king with a single) may have actually been more comfortable. Each of the double rooms just had enough room for the double beds. The triple down the hall had more floor space and a desk and chair. Since it was off season, the hotel was not very full, and the staff probably though the privacy of the extra room when extending the upgrade so that was nice.
The hotel was an absolute gem and our host utterly charming. We could not fault anything. But if arriving by car, be sure to reserve a parking place.
The hotel proprietors were very friendly and were always willing and able to help us with recommendations on places to visit in the area. We were made to feel very much at home in this delightful family hotel. We felt we were treated as very welcome guests of the family which added greatly to our enjoyment of the week we spent at the hotel in Vianden.
Good location. Helpful friendly staff. Were given very helpful directions to our next location. Evening meals were very good with great service. Room was small but very elegant. Lovely decor. Bathroom was small and door opened inwards, caught my foot more than once. Would have liked greater choice of bread at breakfast, only given 2 white rolls and a small croissant, I like brown bread.
the jacuzzi in the room was nice, the penthouse suite was very large and clean the breakfast is quite poor and only until 10am
We booked a double room, but when we arrived the only room they had available was the family room, which they gave us at the double price. It was very spacious and comfortable. The hotel is located in town, close to river and castle. Good restaurant in the hotel. Patio seating was nice since the weather was warm. Free parking in rear of hotel.
the view you cant smoke but i did know this before i booked
nice room, good situated in Vianden noisy untill late at night
Wonderful location, pleasant staff, good breakfast The noise from the bar late at night..especially as hotel literature told the guests to be quiet!!
The room was quite spacious. Really good fitness facilities. We have got a bottle of wine at departure, as a present. The hotel pretends to be luxury, on one side. On another side, one lamp in the hall and a couple in the room were broken. There was enougth light though from other sources. Second, then you see the beds freely rolling around the room on small weels, you realize that it is exactly a 'Family room' and not e.g. a 'Romantic room'.
friendly stuff, central location, excellent cusine resonable prices
The relaxed atmosphere Not eno ugh english TV speaking channels
The room was simple, but comfortable and spotless. Beds were very comfortable. Hotel restaurant served great pizza and had an outstanding breakfast buffet. Great european breakfast with an assortment of cerals, juices, sweet and regular breads, softboiled eggs, cheeses, fruit, yogurt andcold meets. A great way to start the day. It was a great location, right by the river. Personnel quite nice. It was a great value! I would stay again. Not really.
Excellent. Fantastic value for money and the staff were more than helpful..top tip, try and get the upgraded rooms..we only paid 10 Euro more and it was more than worth it.
The Hotel Victor Hugo provides a clean, basic stay in the heart (such as it is, with a population of 1,500) of Vianden. We stayed in the room right across from the sauna area. It looked inviting, but we were only there for a night and didn't partake.
Great hotel in a truely fantastic village, beautifull surroundings very friendly place, i will go back one day.
very friendly stuff, excelent dinner, i do recommend the gastronomic package
Great location of the hotel; great room (view, cleanliness) when looking at value for money; very friendly hotel staff; phantastic dinner and breakfast; simply a very enjoyable stay!
The position of the hotel is right in the centre of the town by the river which is very attractive. The hotel has a bar which was quite noisy late at night.
The views were amazing. the towels were poor quality. Car parking was not provided by the hotel but was on street parking and was difficult when parents were picking up thier children from the next door school
Very good location and the food and atmosphere at dinner (Sat night) was copious and good without being gourmet. Quite basic facilities.
Hotel staff were really good, friendly and helpful. Breaskfast really delicious and plentiful. Room was a bit cold and the last day we didn't have any heating or hot water in the morning!
The city of Vianden is beautiful. This hotel has a good located; from some rooms you can see the Castle of Vianden which is close. A free parking is available 25m from the hotel. Nice bar & very good restaurant as well! Rooms are small, but clean and are coming at a very good price. They ask a PIN code for Credit Cards; actually this seems to happen in many places in Lux or France, so it may be just my fault I don’t remember this.
The hotel is centrally located in Vianden and seems very popular with local people, always a good sign. Our room was very clean , spacious and quiet. Both the Breakfasts and Main Meals were top class. The hotel allowed us to park our motorbikes off road even though it says it has no parking facilities. We will be returning. Two of us booked on seperate reservations and because we turned up together the hotel produced one bill. Not a clever move
Very cute, nicely maintained, old building. modern, remodeled bathrooms. Pleasant, helpful staff, and a good, busy restaurant.close to the castle, you could sit out at tables, on the street, to eat, and drink, felt, and looks, like a medieval inn Could use a screen on the window
Everything was great. No hesitatations about recommending this hotel.
We loved the old rustic inn feel of the place and the contrast of the very modern and new facilities in the room. The food was excellent and much of it was cooked on a open wood burning range. The lack of parking is a minus but there is pay and display parking quite near by.
Very nice and cozy hotel, with a very nice staff. We enjoyed thw twp nights we stayed there. The food was excellent. We will certainly will be back and also recommend to our friends.
Delightful location; good food. Thin walls (as commented on before but thinner then expected!) Late closing restaurant.
A 17th century inn with (nonetheless) all mod cons and a great kitchen to boot (worth a detour). Been coming there for years now. They only have 8 or 9 rooms! So be early.
Modern clean room, Good food, Helpful staff. Parking can be difficult in Veinen
The staff were exceptionally friendly. The bathrooms were very modern and dramatic. The food is also very good and reasonably priced. Parking can be a problem. There is limited parking near the hotel and the nearest free parking is up a steep hill. There is a smoky smell coming from the open grill.
The food was great and the wine selection awesome. Well, on the first day the heating was not on. Big no-no at the end of November I would think. When they turn it on it was ok although we could have used a few centigrades more. The next day we were woke up by the sweet sound of a hammer drill - the freezer was broken and needed urgent repairs that took two days. I understand the need for repair work but not when I'm asleep (it was 9am and I was on holiday!!!). To top it all up on the last day there was no hot water! It might have been just our bad luck to get all this in two days but to be honest it did ruined our stay.
Very nice staff, wonderful restaurant (if you like meat)
The town was beautiful. The hotel is located in the center of town at a busy crossroad and was very loud with cars and trucks in the morning.
The room was darling, with several big French windows looking out over the heart of downtown. The decor was nice and airy and we were pleasantly surprised with a large tv in our room. We enjoyed the staff and their cute doggy. Because of the location, the road was noisy at times, but that was also part of it's charm. Bring earplugs!
Friendliness of staff and feeling of being at home and having a family room.
Location, pretty town and very quiet Hotel rooms a bit basic and not much in the way of home comforts, hotel restaurant food a bit of a let down and quite expensive.
Just renovated, nice room. Good location on river. Short walk, but expect a steep climb to an impressive castle. Charming hotel and very cordial staff. Must use public parking. Could be difficult if it gets crowded during high season.
The hotel lighting system is very dangerous. It is on a timer system, I was half way up a staircase to my room, and it suddenly went pitch black. I had to feel my way to the light switch completely in the dark. How I didn't fall I don't know. I will never use this hotel again. I asked for a cup of coffee and was told that none was available. Neither could they offer breakfast before 8.30am. My coach was leaving at 8.15am on 28/4 from the Grand Hotel Vianden. I asked if I could have an early breakfast, but was told breakfast was not until 8.30. I had breakfast at the Grand Hotel before leaving. The cost of breakfast was deducted from the bill.
Restaurant was very good Lighting in foyers and on stairs/landings was short duration self switching. Shower and toilet a long way from room.
Great location. Restaurant was modern and attractive. It wasn't clear during bookking that we would have to share a bathroom. Also, the heating in our room frequently didn't work and there were insufficient blankets and towels. The restaurant staff seemed to regard guests as a nuisance and weren't keen to help. There is also a smell from the deli downstairs that permeates the hotel.
The town of Vianden is beautiful and the location of the hotel was superb. Renovation work was still on going and we were disturbed by drilling at 7.50am. As our stay was in late March, the town was very quiet and everything closed early.
location parking problems (on market days), confusion over opening times of the restaurant, breakfast, only fair in quality and variety.
Very good food, old world charm e.g. real silver coffee pots and very friendly and helpful staff.
Excellent family run hotel.Very friendly & helpful.Lovely food. N/A
friendly reception, good information, they should make the rooms a bit friendlier.
out of the way location in a very pretty area Bathroom was updated, beds were not.
The food was geniunely outstanding and the proprietors are so wonderful -- they continually went out of their way to help us and to advise us on local points of interest and things to do. The hotel is a family run one and it is in a charming village.
Really great Hotel, Not a modern but very friendly and comfortable place in which to stay. Very close to the walking trails, and the dinner after a long day walking was absolutely beautiful. Will use again in the future.
Pleasant staff, clean rooms Old noisy building, beds make noise and the shower is lousy.
The hotel staff are most obliging. There is a lovley indoor swimming pool. The rooms are very comfortable and the food is very good. I especially enjoyed the breakfast. There are some interesting walks along the riverside.
Large rooms, excellent food for dinner and breakfast.Value for money.Very helpfull and friendly owners
The environment no airco
The personal attention from the owners. Friendly staff and their gourmet food!
Nice location. Quiet. Good friendly service. Food reasonable. No soap dispenser in shower. Cooking not quite up to Luxembourg's usual high standard, but acceptable
Tranquil setting, quiet village, relaxed attitude towards smokers! Attentive staff. Good food.
it was very disappointing,it was inneed of renervating. the rooms where full of flys, all the walls ceiling windows and thebed wherecovered we payed extra for a balcony we could not use becouse of the flys
good, albeit invariable breakfast - Internet access (after some back and forth) - nice veranda/terrace lousy room, tiny bathroom, old, beat-up furniture, terrible room location and "view", thin walls, could hear the neighbors as if in same room; hotel locked after 11 PM-had to ring owner/manager out of bed to get in
good location sober room
Off road parking provided, multi lingual staff, good beer on a hot day. Nothing to do in the evening in the hotel or local village
Lovely hiking paths from hotel.
The friendly staff they were very helpful
It was close to the train station The drain of the douche was a little bit blocked. So the whole floor of the bath room was wet.
Photo of Hotel looked as if it was in a Park. Actually it has a main road in front of it! Also no restaurant in evening
Location was great for visiting the Military Museum. Parking was good but charged to much. Breakfast was wonderful. Younger Manager was very-very nice and helpful. Hotel was still locked up an hour prior to offical check in time. Older Manager who checked us in was not rude but was not at all friendly.
Great location, nice and helpful staff, and good breakfast. For the location and the service, the price was reasonable.
Personel contact / friendly atmosphere / accomodation. Early in season: kitchen not yet open / staffed for diner. There was however plenty of choise in restaurants in the immediate surroundings (Diekirch)
Good service, nice clean rooms, located centrally, beautiful environment, parking space. I'd like to have eggs at breakfast.
The hotel is in a small, nice town in the middle of Luxembourg and a good central point if you want to explore the whole country Old and dark interior, no minibar or coffee making opportunity although we stayed in the larger "apartment" room. Check out was at 11 and breakfast only until 9.30 - that doesn't reall invite to a leisure weekend
Charm. Great location. Helpful staff.
comfort, good location
Convenience of parking - Elevator (small) - Clean room - Walking distance to restaurants and museum - good for adult travellers only Front desk staff did not make us feel welcome. Seemed to have an unfriendly attitude toward our family which has 2 small children. Did not have a high chair in breakfast room. Offered limited information about local restaurants when asked.
Nice spacious room with peaceful view of hills and camping area. Short walk (1 km) to centre of town and main attractions. A little too close to road.
This facility was superb, and we were all very impressed. The meal we had at the Brasserie was excellent,. The only problem was that the rooms were upstairs and on the website I had specifically asked for easy access for two disabled people. I suspect that this was the fault of the booking site rather than the hotel itself.
Little hotel with good staff; parking area free of charge. Quite noisy because it stands right on the main Vianden street.
The large rooms were very pleasant, though slightly difficult to access with luggage. Food was fairly basic but good quality. Cramped seating at breakfast.
Good breakfast, very friendly staff, nice area to stay, good starting point for walks. Good that there was a parking space in front of the Hotel. Tankstation nearby with also a food-drinks-shop, thats very handy. Not nice:Only when sitting outside we hearded a heavy machinery sound , from the camping -heater? Therefore we could not sit outsite (balcony platform) because of this noise. No Handy :nothing to hangup our coats, Some small things in app. were broken, (hangup hook towels etc) the hotel is overall good but ordinairy and sober, for the same price we could stay IN the village. Noise from road
Nice hotel with quite big rooms with all kitchen facilities. It's like a flat. :) A 10-15 min walk to Vianden. Noise of the cars and trucks passing on the regional road in front of the hotel. Mattresses are a bit old and makes noise when you move in the bed.
We found the staff extremely nice and very helpful. The room we were allocated was large complete with fridge, cooker and a fully equipped kitchen enabling you to self cater if desired. Also very comfortable.A pleasant distance from the centre of Vianden allowing a nice riverside walk to visit the town and its restraunts. No fault of the hotel more of the area ,to many flies (no big deal really)
everything, the staff were freindly the area was very nice and the weather was very good, was fine for us but it should be mentioned in the comments about the hotel that there is no lift should you be placed on the top floor.
big room location - far from center
We loved the fact that the rooms were self contained. The closeness to nature. The rooms were very clean and there was a change of towels in the bathrooms on a daily basis. Housekeeping also made the beds and cleared the trash. The staff was friendly and always willng to suggest places to see. The breakfast was good enough. The hotel was situated along the main road and there was a camping site right behind the hotel. There was also a gas station beside the hotel, but it came in handy when one wanted a snack and didn't want to walk to the center of Vianden which was a good 10 to 15 min walk from the hotel. The beds and pillows were very unconfortable, too soft. Lastly.. the many flies in the dining room.
Hotel conveniently located. The room was small and basic but very clean. Our room looked over the main street with a nice view of the river and the valley hillside. Although it's an uphill walk to the castle, it's a very easy walk downhill back to the hotel. So do your shopping on the way back. The hotel has a very good restaurant but lots of alternatives on your way back, either eat at the hotel or pick somewhere to eat on your walk back, remembering it'll be an uphill battle to eat. Easy walk to catch the chair lift going up the hillside. Small market two blocks away. Breakfast buffet was very good. Hotel owners are a wealth of knowledge, extremely nice and very helpful. Will even go out of their way to point something out.
The hotel owner and wife were very friendly. After dineer we came back to the hotel bar and talked to the hotel owner, his wife and another guest for 2 hours. The hotel owner gave us excellent tips on sightseeing in the area.
It was a great hotel in a beautiful spot. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was excellent!
The view from the bedroom window.
Friendly staff, large, clean room, centrally located, parking on-site. Shower could use a curtain to avoid water getting on the floor.
The staff were very friendly and accomodating, the breakfast was good quality and the rooms were very comfortable My Mother-in-law is nearly 80 years of age and there was no lift to her room on the second floor, also our room faced out onto the main road with consttraffic noise all night
Great owners...very friendly
The warmth of the staff
The relaxed and personal atmosphere and the excellent food in the restaurant. Also its ideal location in a beautiful and quiet area of Luxemburg.
Every staff of this hotel were very kind for us and service was perfect. The taste of the restaurant is also excellent. We want to stay there again sometime.
you can do nice walking trips (mullerthal trail) with the children, which were very relaxed and not to boring. the breakfast is very poor for a room from more than € 100 . Each morning the same cheese, ham and they did not refull for example the orange jus, which wasn't even real jus.
very friendly owners - excellent food in the restaurant in relation to the price there is nothing to complain
Nice location. Staff friendly. Looked after children very well. Quite basic and dated accommodation, but very clean and functional, with comfortable beds. 2-3 star rather than 4 star.
Nicely located in the middle of the Mullerthal, an ideal base for day trips around the area. Nice garden area. No barbecue despite adverts promising this. We were given a smokers room despite our asking for a non-smoker room. Walls and ceiling were nicotine stained, or were they intentionally painted light brown? No shower curtain (Rm 33). Restaurant overpriced, a better, better priced restaurant is about 50 yards down the road. Smoking in the bar area meant the breakfast area smelled of smoke at times. The biggest problem however is the asylum seeker ghetto behind the neighbouring hotel ("Cascade") full of East European peasants. There is therefore a high crime risk, vehicles are parked in a public area and are so at particular risk - an alarm is a must! Remove all valuables from your cars. Insurance against vehicle theft also a must.
Me and my wife stayed there last week and learnt hotel staffs were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the restraunt very much. Would like to come back again someday.
Good Food, Happy hotel Staff
Very helpful staff wonderful rooms with a great view and decent breakfast
Restaurant good, though very expensive. Breakfast good Room was shabby, no A/C, small TV
View of Chateau de Vianden, gourmet food. Lack of internet service.
Excellent location with view of castle from luxury rooms and terrace. High quality food, but you must be prepared to wait for it!!
yes, the rooms simple but clean, food very good though not cheap, breakfast excellent pillows are bad.Wireless connection did not work.
cleanness of room Noisey street, lack of parking, overpriced
Located in Diekirch, Luxembourg, it was conveniently located near the pedestrianised city streets. The room was comfortable and very clean. The breakfast was continental. The staff were friendly but spoke very little English. It is over priced at 85 euros a room.
The hotel was in the center of Diekirsh, so everything was close! It was very clean and the staff friendly! It has nice bathroom!!! Few of the the staff knew english...
staff were kind, but didn't speak English; dinner was excellent no air-conditioning and no air flow; next to main road - noisy; no iron; no laundry service; breakfast was sparse; no one spoke English; room decor is dated;
the room was clean & adequate. The lady at reception was very polite when I arrived. the service at breakfast was terrible. Very unwelcoming. I was given a plate of jam & a couple of rolls & left for almost half an hour before I was given a ham & cheese, and only after I asked.
Helpful and friendly staff. Comfortable rooms. Secure parking. Good food
Good friendly staff, excellent restaurant as well
Location No aircondition
Very good bed The church bell in the morning
location check in time is too late, especially in off season
