Directions to hotel very poor
Hotel staff are helpful with information about direction to the local places, restaurants. There is a free computer available for customers to use in the lobby of the hotel. Bathroom is small and uncomfortable to use. They should provide free hotel parking instead of charging customers.
No air conditioning is aproblem
THe family room is very spacious and large. The hotel is perfect for either a stop over on the way to other places or as a place to stay for visting the surrounding areas.
very pleasant staff good value for money
The size of the room and the cleanliness were very good
Staff is very nice and friendly (especially that they were serving dinner and doing reception). Rooms are clean and reasonable size. Is a very good hotel for 2 stars. It is not in the center of the town (there are restaurants very close, and the prices displayed do not include tax) but for us it was a very good location in exploring the Loire valley.
The breakfast and some of the staff. However, staff with little English were sullen and sometimes rude. Rude staff, particularly in the restaurant. My wife had a tea bag thrown onto the table after dinner
Easy to find, good value breakfast, friendly staff Rooms very close to the function room so unacceptable noise for a lot of the night as there was a function in progress.
WLan is included. The staff is very friendly. 5 km far from the next restaurant. A little dirty, but enough for one night.
perfect and comfortable room. within walking distance to city center. free parking just in front of the hotel.
Hospitality of the staff Bad work of the shower
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is a short distance from the town centre.
Very helpful staff. Cozy. Beds not so comfy.
The welcome was very friendly and the location was perfect. We also loved their dog, Timmy - who was not by the way, allowed in the hotel itself. Parking was advertised as "On site", this is not correct - the only parking was in the road.
Very warm welcome from the owner who took the time to tell us about the city as it was our first visit. Very good breakfast.
The hotel is beautiful, both charming and quiet, and the staff are friendly and extremely helpful. It's a great place to simply relax or to use as a base for Loire tours. One of my best ever hotel stays.
It's the most beautiful castle imaginable in the most magical setting. A dream come to life. This hotel is not right in Amboise and is going to appeal to experienced travellers with a sense of adventure and romance. You'll need a map and plan to arrive before it gets dark or you will likely never find the Chateau.
Our host was most gracious and helpful. Our room was well appointed and fresh. The advertised air conditioning still needs to be installed.
We enjoyed everything
My husband and I stayed at this Chateau for 2 nights during our honeymoon in October while visiting the castles in Loire Valley. It's a few minutes from Amboise, and only a short drive to all the famous castles we wanted to visit. Since it was low season, we were the only two guests there, and the staff were amazing! Breakfast was great, our room was absolutely gorgeous, and BIG! The view from our room was breathtaking, I could sit by the window all day if I had time :p I wish we could have stayed longer, it felt like home. The chateau also have washing and drying machine for guests to use, free of charge! And it has an elevator!! We will definitely stay there again when we go back to the loire valley.
Lovely environment, quiet and peaceful. The chateau had lots of character and the rooms were decorated beautifully with excellent bathrooms. It was well located, just outside of Amboise.
The room was just superb and luxurious. It really felt like we were staying in a castle. The owner was perfect. He was there was when needed him but not on top of you.
Everything was very nice and comfortable; we received excellent service. N/A
Great setting and quality of the finish of the newly renovated chateau
Excellent service, beautiful building.
The common sitting room and the breakfast one took in it were both lovely. The grounds are also very well kept up, and the pool looked inviting. The location is excellent, well within walking distance of everything. The hostess is charming. We actually stayed longer for breakfast than we intended on our final day before leaving for Paris since it was so comfortable there, and we were engaged in wonderful conversation with another couple from the us. There is also convenient parking on the premises. This is a b&b with three apartments. The one we stayed in was really for one person: the double-bed, shower, toilet and sink were in one small room with a small frosted glass divider separating the bed from the toilet and sink. The shower was open to the room. It helps if you have to have lived together for 37 years, as we have, to agree to this set-up, and still give it the positive rating that I did. If you don't like showering or going to the toilet in front of someone don't stay in this room. We did see one of the other apartments and it was much larger and lovely. Our hostess did offer to let us look elsewhere in the city for another apartment when we arrived, but we were tired, it was late, and she was charming and the rest of the b&b was very comfortable, so we stayed.
Exquisite room in a private house, private gardens, owner extremely helpful, great breakfast
friendly proprietor who took trouble to ensure we were comfortable, swimming pool to ourselves, very nice large room, good breakfast, convenient location It was quite pricey even allowing for unfavourable £:euro ratio
This was the best stay during our entire trip to France. We would go back in an instant! The room was huge and magnificent with french doors to a beautiful garden with a swimming pool. The bathroom was more or a spa with a tub, shower with numerous jets, two sinks, and private toilet. Big beautiful towels and bathrobes were set out for us. The petit dejeuner was beautifully presented and our hostess was absolutely divine. As a bonus we had a private parking spot in a garage. We couldn't ask for anything more! Everything was wonderful.
The owners had a nice balance of being nice and helpful, but not invasive. I felt as if I was at home. It was very relaxing and quiet. Having only 3 rooms is nice...there weren't too many people coming in and out so it was more private. They have a private courtyard in the back which was very pretty. I definitely recommend the hotel. The owners are very sweet people and very good hostesses. They didn't have central air but they had a fan. However, I found that none of the hotels I stayed in in Amboise, Saumur and Paris had central air so just be prepared.
easy to find and close to A10 route , good choice as a overnight stop , clean and comfortable enough for one night , convenient , but do not expect luxury
Nothing really, but after an 8 hour drive anywhere would have been ok. The room was not at all welcoming, the carpet was stained, the bathroom was a caravan type pod where you had to hold the shower head rather than stand under it. It was very noisy when anyone left or arrived in a nearby room in the early hours. The whole place would be best described as scruffy and basic.
simple but great after 12h driving
Hotel personnel were very polite, helpful and friendly. They were always ready to help or answer questions. The room is too small, especially shower and WC part.
It's good as a stop for those who travel by car. There is free parking and you can get by car to the city center in 10-15 min. You get what you pay. W-fi was only in the main building
The location was excellent, easy walking to the chateau, restaurants, shopping. Staff were very helpful and attentive, nice grounds to enjoy a glass of wine, The room was very comfortable and clean.
Very helpful people - I arrived very late due to flight delays and instructions were very provided for me very clearly.
The building and grounds are simply lovely. Our room was incredibly spacious, comfortable and well appointed with a large and luxurious bathroom. The desk workers were helpful, cordial, knowedgeable and spoke English fluently. We liked Alla in paricular, as she is simply charming. We had hoped to have dinner in their highly-recommended restaurant, but after September 30th it was no longer open.
The manor is historic and very charming, but also has modern touches to make it comfortable. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was simple, but lovely.
Staff was incredibly nice and helpful. Accomodations were very comfortable and clean. Amenities were second to none.
Had a great room up top, overlooking the garden, comfortable and good bathroom all in a house built in the twelfth century. There was also a nice sitting room downstairs with open fireplace. The service was great, enthusiastic and helpful which added to our experience.
Beautiful hotel very convenient to centre of Amboise. Style is of restored chateau so don't expect ultra modern facilities, but it fits in perfectly with the ambience of the Loire Valley. Residents' lounge delightful with free wifi. Staff very helpful. Breakfast OK. 170 Euro is perhaps a little overpriced and we have stayed in equally high standard accommodation in Amboise for a bit less. However, this is a minor complaint and we would certainly consider staying there again.
The welcome, the staff, the tranquility so close to the heart of the town, the elegance of the building
Location, location, location, with views of the Amboise Chateau and easy walking distance from the town Le Manoir Saint Thomas is perfectly located. There is safe parking in the grounds. The staff are delightful and the rooms nice. Bit pricey, but if you are happy to pay you will have a very nice stay.
We loved Le Manoir St. Thomas and would definitely recommend it to friends. It was lovely, the staff was wonderful and the location was great.
Excellent welcome from helpful owner. Lovely location and facilities. Difficult to find
Had a kitchen area that was nicely equipped. Bed was comfortable.
Situation, kitchen, parking, price for three person not a major building
We had a studio apartment and it was great. Excellent to have a fridge and a few utensils. Staff are excellent and the whole experience was wonderful. Benoit did a great job of the food so make sure to try out their new restaurant, L'Alliance in Amboise. Bed was lumpy and the pillows were really bad - flat as a pancake! Despite that it really is a wonderful hotel in a great location and would stay there again!
Rooms are in fact small apartments, allowing you enjoy more freely of your vacations. Location is quite good, at walking distance from the centre.
Our studio looked like it was newly built, and was very nicely renovated with tasteful furnishings. It was very close to the main attractions in the town. There was nothing we didn't like.
Helpful Friendly staff. Good accommodation. Air con. Secure parking with gates. None
Liked the pool for children and the adjoining rooms as we are a large family of 2 adults and 4 children. Given our need to book 2 rooms the cost was more than i would like or to encourage me to stay longer. Also the lack of bar facilities was frustrating as the adjoining hotels/restreaurants would not allow us to have a dring without purchasing food.
Clean and comfortable rooms, ideal for a short stay, friendly and helpful staff, breakfast to suit most tastes.
Secure car parking
THe location, ideally suited for walking and exercising a dog. The room was a little basic, a kettle with tean and coffee making would have been a good and welcome addition.
I had a very pleasant stay in the hotel, breakfast was excellent
We did not stay long enough to form an opinion one way or another. It was convenient for visiting the chateaux in the area and easy to reach Tours.
The Swimming Pool was ideal for the children, as it was indoor and the weather was not too warm. It was a little bit pricey for a 2* hotel at about £110 per night just to sleep 4 in a very small space and a Continental Breakfast. The Campanile, right next door was about £30 cheaper.
Excellent hotel with family rooms. Small swimming pool that the children enjoyed. Minutes from a lake/park recreational area.Parking on site. Couple of restaurants close on hand. Excellent access to motorway and the loire activities and sites. Breakfast OK. Gets full marks for staff as they complimented me on my French (!) but their English was better. Great place for a few nights if exploring the Loire area. It's location is about 10 Km south of Tours centre so you need a car but Tours has the one way system from hell so getting in and out of Tours was an issue (definately need a car for this hotel). It was fine for us as we were exploring the Loire and for this it is well placed. For a weekend in exploring Tours I would suggest somewhere central and forget the car!
Good location for visiting castles. There is a lac nearby, very nice for morning jogging.
The staff were very helpful in accessing the hotel wifi It was being refurbished so was noisy and dusty
Very friendly staff, clean and comfortable, excellent value for money there was a drinks vending machine in foyer, possibly could do with a coffee and snack vending machine
The restaurant had a widw selection of foods although the menu was in french, but could of had an english translation.
It was fine for a short stop in transit.
As already indicated: friendly staff, good supply of towels, satellite TV including sport Noise from main road when window opened on account of heat
The most important thing were the kindness of the staff and the cleanliness of the establisment. Very impressed the location is a little bit out of town
No smoking rooms are completely seperate from smoking rooms Bit tired - no tea or coffee making facilities in room or foyer
easy acces, good attitude of hotel staff no
Convenient location, adequate facilities and pleasant staff Poor quality room, Although bedding clean, the general state of the fixtures and fittings inc carpets was very poor. Stained carpet. Broken picture with glass a safety hazard.
Easily accessible by car
Tours! Great Location, Breakfast pretty good value and decent offering, Once you accept the basics the room and the amenities facilities etc. are fair. Housekeeping in Tours was good and efficient. Parking was good too and the Five Euros spent for the basement was well spent. On arrival we found that one of our rooms was not booked even though I had received the conformation e mail just that day. The young lady in reception could not find the third room booking, but she was very helpful. a room was given for the night at Mercure whose receptionist was seriously in need of some friendly training. She was grumpy and rude and we think she just had a bad day for which our friends were the victims a Receptionist later in the day Some telephone system on each floor even since it is not possible in rooms. In case you have an emergency there is nothing in your hotel after the receptionist leaves, no telephone no connection no nothing. windows! It was seriously hot int he rooms and we could do nothing to open the window which only opened two inches or so. I know that the railway tracks make lots of noise which is why you must have two double glazed windows, but if only this can be opened a bit to get in more ventilation.
Clean, good location, wifi only in lobby and it closed early evening
Clean, always good to be able to say that, comfortable, good value for money, convenient location for town centre, helpful staff.
Best price offered ever matching perfectly for all backpackers! Not actually, but, we expect if the hotel'd provide guests more facilities as well as something's like the bathroom stuffs, that would be better!
The access to WI-FI is only at the reception but not at the rooms. The noise from TGV is "something"...
No facility for storing soap & shampoo in the shower. Toilet seat wrong size therefore constantly moved around.
Very comfortable hotel with friendly staff
Close to the station Unkind staff
The managers were very friendly and the room exceeded our expectations
The location, the room and first of all the kindness of the managers everything was very good
It was located within easy reach of the old city but close enough to the modern are that walking into each area was quick
Great location, great decor and lovely bed. Better than pretty well every 2 star hotel we stayed in during our 2 week trip. Should definitely be more than one star. ... no lift, but no big deal.
This is a very nice small hotel (although it cost the same as the Grand Hotel Poitiers which is in a different class). The man on reception was very helpful although he spoke rather rapidly which made directions rather hard to follow. Tour has an 'interesting' one way system which could cause the driver and map reader to become somewhat stressed.
The hotel is perfectly situated between the cathedral and the old town of Tours. It has recently be renovated and satisfies all the needs of a 3* hotel, it is really worthed more stars. The perfect place to stay and staff was very helpfull.
The rooms where spacious, modern and immaculate. A short walk to a huge host of restaurants and attractions.
stayed in the larger room. new, clean. good value and worth the few dollars more for the bigger room. good breakfast. internet available.
The hotel is within walking distance of the train station, a huge plus! On your way you pass the Tourist Bureau for Tours, France, so you can get info before you even get to the hotel. Lovely staff; who were very helpful in booking a first-rate truly fabulous well-known local restaurant for dinner (La Ruche, which means The Beehive). Breakfast was very nice; I recommend that future guests do have the 7.5 euro breakfast. it was really great, no complaints at all.
It was very clean, well designed, comfortable and the staff were very welcoming. We were surprised to see it has just one star, but the fact it has no lift may account for that.
T ,he room was huge and the atmosphere was lovely. The restaurant is one of the best we have ever eaten at. You can walk from the hotel to a lot of places (Chateau, weekly market, Loire River, restaurants) Everyone there was very friendly. Nice grounds Although there is wireless there is not a computer available if you do not have your own. This made communication home difficult
Beautiful, large rooms with lovely furnishings. Comfortable bed with very nice linens. Large bathroom with updated fixtures like double sinks, separate bathtub and shower.
The location in the center of Amboise was ideal, the hotel was very comfortable and well appointed, bed linen was excellent - high level of attention to detail
Staff could not do enough and cuisine great although as only a set menu perhaps not everyones 1st choice but will definitely be returning in the future Having to leave
Excellent location within walking distance to old town, shopping, rue colbert (restaurants).
The location is excellent, parking at 7 Eur/day is nerby
Beautiful Hotel, close to the city center, Friendly staff, loved the coffee machine they had really good coffee and it was a great price.
Position in Tours excellent, Very helpful staff, Very clean and well presented throughout.
The location, comfort (clean and ventilated as we asked) and price. Nothing.
Friendly staff. The hotel has a cat. Cosy feel. Lacks an elevator, bad idea if you're travelling with lots of luggage. The water heaters are turned off at night, forget about showers before sleeping. Not enough electric outlets. Bad internet connection which frequently disconnects. No "do not disturb" signs. On the last day, I was forced to check-out at 8 am in the morning for some reason.
Hotel Moderne is a conveniently located, budget hotel in the center of Tours close to the railroad station, the tourist office, and many different restaurants. It is an older hotel with a certain charm. There is good cable TV with French and international channels. The staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are small, but adequate. Bathroom facilities are somewhat cramped, but the shower space was adequate, and the water pressure good. There is no elevator in the hotel. The WI-FI was not used.
The friendly atmosphere and location for transport and sightseeing. It is also quiet throughout the night.
The location was ideal. The staff were friendly and the price was right. Tours is a lovely city for walking and the hotel was in a perfect location for "new town" shopping and "old town" dining. Parking was convenient and easy. Breakfast offering could have had at least one protien choice such as yogurt.
Clean rooms. No noice from street. Good for staying just one night. Booked an extra bed but this message was not seen by the staff. We got immediately an extra room next to our room! Rooms have had there best time. Air conditioning inside the room with a tube outside the open window.
The quality of the room, his space and commodities. Has no lift.
iy was a greay hotel for a stop over the directions on yhe internet were poor
you pay for what you get.It was functional. No drink making facilities
Good location for starting a visit the castles of Loire Valley
Food was excellent, the service provided was professional and polite. Questions asked were answered accurately. The coice at breakfast was limited
Room was excellent, large bed, nice bathroom/shower, very comfortable. Restaurant was good with a good selection of food and wine. Outside patio area was a bit shabby, needs some updating
The room was large and very comfortable. The room was very clean and the tea making facilities were a nice surpise. The indoor swimming pool/ sauna and steam room was a very relaxing. The restaurant provided great meals and service.
Rooms were very clean and comfortable.
Restaurant staff very friendly, comfortable room and really enjoyed pool/spa facilities Booked the hotel to attend conference in the centre of Tours - Mercure Tours Sud is relatively far from the town centre and taxis forming only transport.
it's the best two-star hotel I have stayed in in France
I liked the beautifull interior of the breakfast room. It was terribly noisy at night outside of the hotel. We couldn't sleep at all!
Good location and stylish decor. Rooms and corridoors noisy. You can hear other people using toilet/shower. Impersonal, small and poky.
Ideally located. The manager who moved us to rear of hotel after complaining about noise in front room. The situation of the front room initially given to us. We had to be moved to rear of hotel because of noise from bar/cafe strip below hotel which made it impossible to sleep
Location, location, location no
Central, very convenient, nice atmosphere. Side street room noisy at night
Its location very close to the center of the old city Air conditioner did not work well. In summer it is O.K. but in winter I am afraid.....
I found it very comfortable and welcoming. Beautifully appointed room and the hotel felt very 'French' to me. I have already recommended it to friends in Bordeaux! Thank you!
It was in a good position from the town, the staff were very helpful, the breakfast were good.We stayed twice at the hotel.
Clean. Friendly staff. Great breakfast. Central location. No
The staff had made a lot of effort to allow us access to the hotel even though we arrived long after the reception closed On the other hand at the price we paid we expected a hotel that had 24 hour reception and at least a kettle in the room. This was a very overpriced budget hotel and although the staff were helpful we were very disappointed with the standard of accomodation which did not reflect the price charged
Central location, on-site private garage parking, very helpful and friendly staff, modern and clean room. Not much room in the bathroom.
The staff were very friendly.
The room was basic, but very clean, comfortable, and had a great balcony. It was also very quiet. It was in a good location, within walking distance of the train station and fun areas of the town. We did not realize that it is actually closed from 12:30 pm-5:00 pm so there was no way to drop off our luggage.
