Pros: We were warmly greeted by Nicholas and his wife. Our room was beautiful and spacious. They were very helpful and made a booking at a local restaurant in Barfleur. Nicholas also helped us by locating a Pharmarcy that would be open on a Sunday, on our way to Barfleur. The homemade breakfasts were delicious and varied. I would recommend this place as a wonderful stopover. Another great idea was having guests seated around the large table which enabled us to chat to others at breakfast. Merci.

7.5 Good
Cons: The payment process trough booking.com was inconvenient. It says that 30% will be payed before check in, and when I checked out I thought that I have to pay only the remain 70%. When the owner said that we have to pay the full rate I did not insist because I was not sure if it was deduced from the credit card. Later at home I checked and found that he was right and nothing was taken from the credit card. However it was misleading and can cause unpleasant situations, and therefore I suggest that it will be clarified that the 30% is not taken from the credit card and it is only relevant to cases of no show up

With a private bathroom, rooms at Les Transats also have free WiFi. Guests at the guest house will be able to enjoy activities in and around Barfleur, like hiking. Cherbourg en Cotentin is 28 km from Les Transats, while Carentan is 49 km away.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location!
Cons: Great location, with a view on the port.
4.5 Okay
Pros: Good powerful shower with very nice toiletries. Breakfast at the cafe next door is good. The evening meals at the cafe next door are excellent. Free parking is available close by.
Cons: The kitchen window above the sink looks directly into the shower room and loo!! ....so if you are having a shower you are doing so in full view of anyone in the lounge - this is despite there being some flimsy net curtains - why not for privacy sake just put some frosted glass in? The locks on the doors (to the communal hall and to the front)are pretty much useless.... we never got the front door lock to work without leaving the key in the lock - just so frustrating. The decoration has been done in a very slap dash manner which is a real shame because it makes you feel that they don't care (I'd suggest that it needs painting throughout as the walls are now very marked in places). The comfort level in the lounge is low because there are just two small and very firm individual seats.... can't understand why they don't put in a comfy two seater settee? - it would make a huge difference. The whole place needs a really deep clean - parts are very dirty. People parked their cars immediately outside the front window which was a shame as it meant you wouldn't then want to sit outside.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great view...great place.
7.5 Good
Pros: Fantastic location, lovely harbour view of authentic fishing boats. Tea and coffee making facilities, nice spacious room, very stylishly furnished, bright and welcoming. The Cafe de France next door is amazing - we ate three meals there. Make sure you reserve a table as it is hugely busy, mostly locals, esp on Sat/Sun.
Cons: No one there! The very busy guy at the next door cafe had to drop everything and take us to the room. No check in or out! It actually didn’t matter as we had prepaid but it was all a bit bizarre! Church clock chimes on the quarter hour all night so pack earplugs!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The accommodation was at the harbour and perfectly positioned and tranquil. The WiFi was good and we were next to a restaurant. A happy stay in a comfy bed.
Cons: The only problem was locating the owner, who couldn’t be reached on the phone but who we found next door! Otherwise, no problems.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really enjoyed my stay at Les Transats. Lovely comfortable room. Comfortable bed, comfortable chairs, sea view, tea/coffee making facilities, tv, Wi-fi. Barfleur is a lovely place to relax and staying in lovely surroundings make it all the better.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The property was great ...
Cons: There was no-one to meet us when we arrived. I knocked on, and opened a door that I thought was the reception area, but was a private apartment of some guy. He swore at me and screamed at me to get out of his apartment. This was VERY unpleasant. Additionally, all and everything regarding explanation is in French only. There is NO English equivalent of who to contact when one is in the situation of no-one present to meet-and-greet. It was all a bit confusing and disorientating, especially after a long drive. Please could this be rectified and clarified that it is highly likely no-one will meet you at the door, but that you can contact ........ for further info.

Pros: Our hostess was very friendly and helpful. The little courtyard she has created was charming( if a little near the road). It was a 5 minute walk from the unspoilt beach which was good for an early evening walk. There are several restaurants in the town which are easily within walking distance.
Cons: Wifi connection was variable - not always a bad thing when on holiday, but can be frustrating if you need to log on.

Pros: Booked as an overnight stop for early morning ferry. Easy 25/30 minute drive to port. Seaside town close by to get food and drinks. On site parking. Comfy bed with nice bedding and towels.
Cons: That hotel reception was closed on arrival at 8 pm and no one answered telephone no. left on door. 9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely quiet location in a pretty village, close to Barfleur and St Vaast La Hougue. Spacious room with a large comfortable bed. Had an excellent meal in the hotel's restaurant.
Cons: Would have liked tea / coffee making facilities in the room and more fruit options in the breakfast.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A very clean modern if slightly impersonal room in the extension of this well-located hotel with easy parking. The hotel’s restaurant is excellent and there is a bar within easy walking distance for that late-evening digestif. Close to a fabulous beach and within easy reach of the historic port of Barfleur and the oyster capital of St Vaast, this is a great place to overnight en route to or from Cherbourg ferry port.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Breakfast if you are into yogurt, etc. which I'm not would be OK.
Cons: This is not an English friendly establishment.
6.8 Good
Pros: Pretty village. Hotel was clean but ordinary. However both room and bathroom were very spacious.
Cons: The day we were there the restaurant was closed so had to look for somewhere in St Vaast. It being March, this seaside town had very very little to offer and we had to take what was open. Staff at hotel was only manager/reception. When we mentioned shower plug was blocked and door into bathroom was very squeaky/noisy, she just said it was nothing to do with her. There was vague mention of a maintenance contract for that sort of thing but there is no way of knowing if she made a note of some sort.
7.0 Good
Pros: Beautiful food, big bathroom
Cons: Difficult to use and slow wifi
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Warm welcome. Very comfortable rooms. Excellent restaurant. Lovely people
Cons: Nothing to dislike unless you wanted to be in a city 'hot spot '. Very relaxing and very French.

Cons: Nothing I can think of.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Parking
Cons: Réception close early. No accès to sitting area show on line, door locked. Room very small and old look for the price.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A small but lovely hotel in an equally small but lovely village. The rooms are very thoroughly cleaned every day. Breakfast was superb! As you step out of your room in the morning you are greeted by the smell of fresh croissants. The hotel is just a short walk from the cosy fishing harbor and marina. The place is run by a very lovely lady.
Cons: If the hotel is fully booked, 9 rooms, there isn't enough space to park cars. The only real disappointment was the failed wifi connection. The lady warned us about it being difficult but we never got it to work.

Pros: The very good conversation with the hosts and other guests over breakfast. They had their own hives and the loss of two of them lead to long discussion on environmental issues. Note to self: We'll need to go there on our bikes next time and not in a car.

Pros: The warm welcome from Monsieur & Madame Joly The excellent garden.
Cons: Always prefer a bath to a shower

3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The hotel is close to the port.
Cons: My wife reported to reception that the bed sheet was dirty. They said that they change the sheets every day - that's all. We asked if they could change them or give us a sheet to cover the dirty one, but they didn't. I reported that the shower head was missing a hook on the wall - so that it would be possible to have a shower. They said there is no hook! It is a hand held shower. We asked for a kettle to make a cup of tea or coffee. They said that a kettle is not provided in our price range! We spent almost 800 euro for two rooms for 4 nights. Even budget hotels would offer these basic facilities. The hotel is old fashioned - and not in a good way - and the staff are unreasonably unwelcoming. We were glad to leave and would have left sooner if we had not been penalised. We will make sure to recommend to our friends "not" to visit this hotel. Seriously, you can easily find better.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We received a warm welcome and our case was carried upstairs which we greatly appreciated. The atmosphere was calm and the subtropical garden a great joy.We enjoyed aperitifs there.Food in the restaurant was imaginative and delicious.Breakfast displayed a wide choice of food with local specialties ,again much appreciated. Although small ,our room was very clean, the bed comfortable and we loved the colors and fabrics used to create a shell theme.Thank you for another delightful stay.
Cons: Parking can be a small problem but there is usually a space in nearby streets. It is a safe quiet town and marina.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Location is good.
Cons: Buildings, bedroom, garden, restaurant, bathrooms all badly in need of redecoration and refurbishment. Shower didn't work. Breakfast is OK but below average for the price. It used to be a special pleasure staying there. Sadly, not now.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The garden is tranquil and very tropical .We love to have aperitifs there.Breakfast has an array of delights and may be taken outside in fair weather. The chef is imaginative and dinner delicious. Our room although small has charm and is very clean.Fuchsias climb all over the exterior walls of the courtyard and there are lovely plants in the stunning, large conservatory where you can dine.Another delightful stay.
Cons: Parking can be tricky but you can find a spot in the streets near the hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ambience of the hotel was great and the gardens were lovely, and very surprising to find. Family run hotel, so good.
Cons: Food was good but we felt our main course was over cooked, Good service though.
5.8 Okay

Cons: Room access difficult.
6.5 Good
Pros: Beautiful garden, dining room and entrance.
Cons: Small bed, small room. Door slamming when guests return.
7.5 Good
Pros: Les Fuchsias is a lovely albeit quirky restaurant partly in a beautiful garden. A real treat to eat a lovely dinner there last night. Very pretty place in a lovely town but a little let down by our room.
Cons: Tired room and very thin mattress on a hard base. Felt €11 rather exorbitant for a fairly plain breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very comfortable. The gardens are wonderful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was parking available on the street. The food in the restaurant was really good. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Normandie area as it was only 30 minutes from Cherbourg where I had business meetings.
Cons: I liked everything.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: location and beautiful garden leading to the annex. Lovely atmosphere.
Cons: Toilet in a different room to shower and sink !
