Pros: Finca Maresia is a bit remote, but the staff is super helpful, so don't worry about getting there from the beach, plus you really are in the middle of the jungle. The bungalows are beautiful, food is amazing, what more to say...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The setting of the main lodge and the villas is beautiful, with views of the rainforest and an abundance of wildlife. Miguel, the host, is very welcoming and engaging. He couldn't do enough to help us and make sure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The communal set up for meals was very rewarding, meeting new people and hearing about different experiences. The design of the rooms was brilliant. Our shower was open to the surrounding rainforest. Although it is out of town it is easy to arrange taxis and lifts.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming people. Thanks a lot for an amazing stay with you.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely accommodations, great food, a great way to meet people while travelling. The nature and surroundings were beautiful. Miguel was wonderful in arranging tours and boats on and off Drake Bay.
Cons: It's far from the village. Hard to get snacks or food on non-meal hours. We had hungry teenagers and we had to walk to town to get them some food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was incredible; far enough away from the beach/city center to be quiet at night and enjoy listening to the sounds of the jungle. Getting to the center was easy with a mix of hotel-provided transportation and walking. The community breakfasts and dinners were a highlight, as were the friendly dogs and cat, hammocks for lounging, and Miguel's patient answers to all our questions and his recommendations!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place to be, beautiful finca with an amazing view over the finca from the terrace. Dinner was good and having it with all tourists together creates very nice chats. Having the finca organizing the Corcovado and night tour gives you the best tourguide of town!
Cons: -
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing Hosts sorted pickups from the ferry boat and helped with every aspect of ensuring we had a great experience. Beautiful Location.
Cons: No proper windows so couldn't really look out when in bed with the door closed, but the main house has a great balcony where we spent most of our time hanging out.

6.7 Good
Pros: nice garden
Cons: they should tell they do not sell rooms, they just rent a roof on you. I booked and when I got there I have a bed under a roof with no walls. It's nice for a night.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Free tea and coffee for everyone
Cons: the ambiance wasn't good there: the staff wasn't friendly when they knew that we already booked a tour in the nationalpark with another provider and didn't have interest in booking something with them; there was no wifi in our room - i guess the wifi-station is located in the common area, so you'll have wifi there and a little bit around, but in our dorm and i guess the ones next to it there was none; the rooms are very dark; - all in all I was disappointed, because there were a lot of good recommendations, but we did not feel welcome there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything else!
Cons: The kitchen fire need a bit more power
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner and staff is very nice and give good advices when it comes to tour-booking and more. Definitely recommend staying here!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I loved the atmosphere, the tent cabin was lovely, I met some very interesting and pleasant people there. The boss Anja is great and she booked us some great tours. I liked the common space, the brochures where you could find all the animals you saw that day, the lovely kitchen with all one could need, the free coffee. I also liked the warm shower :)
Cons: The place is very lovely, but it is outdoors, so, during the rainy season, I would not recommend a stay longer than 3 nights, at least not in the tent, because it did get pretty humid.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Incredibly nice people! They took over the organization of the transfer from Sierpe and tour through Corcovado Park. Great location in the middle of the jungle. Absolute recommendation!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very nice place in nature where you can get the full rainforest experience. Common areas and staff are lovely too.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is surrounded by lots of different plants and flowers, which makes it an ideal spot for wildlife and bird watching. Staff was nice, polite and friendly. When I asked to change room, they were very helpful in accommodating my request. They also helped me organise couple of trips, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Cons: Bathroom was a bit far from my room, especially when I had to walk to it in the middle of the night without any lights.

The Region Drake Bay is a really magical Place. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: I can only concur the raving reviews here. Excellent hostel, a little of the beaten path. Very personal care by the excellent host Mike, without being pushy in the slightest. He has excellent advice about the region (Thanks for the tip about the Drake trail hike, Mike!!) He has alternatives for the expensive Corcovado trips. His place is even good for spotting wildlife. We Saw a dozen (!) or so capucin monkeys in the trees by his garden. Although I guess that was lucky, so don’t expect those. Even the WiFi is excellent. Thanks again Mike! It was awesome!
Cons: Slippery bathroom floor! No bath rug! How dare you, Mike? ;)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Located on the outskirts of the village of Los Planes, this cosy hostel gives you a great opportunity to watch wildlife and to relax. Mike, the owner, is very helpful and takes great care of his guests. He has heart for Costarican nature, helps to arrange tours and gives hints for great hikes in the jungle and along the coast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful place to stay! Highly recomended! Mike is a terrific host! He knew the area very well and had great suggestions for activities. Also he helped us to arrange tours. The location is fabulous! It was so neat to see macaws and toucans overhead. A great place to stop on any Osa Peninsula adventure!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely host who will help you throughout your stay to make the best of it! It’s a great house where you feel immediately at ease. Surrounded by nature, keep out if you’re looking for a bar - the nightlife here is that of the rainforest! Delicious soda at a 5 minutes walk means you don’t necessarily have to cook.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect and quiet location on the hills behind drake. Close to the primary rainforest. Lots of animals in the garden (macaws, toucans, monkeys and many more) and a huge and beautiful self built house with a lovely garden and a well equipped kitchen. The host Mike is truly a great person. He helps you with everything you need and organizes all the tours you want to do. He also has good (and off the beaten path) alternatives to the expensive national park tours. I highly recommend the horseback riding there!! We stayed longer than planned. Absolutely stunning place and I would definitely come back again!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mike Suizo is the best man you can meet in the area of Bahia Drake! Always full of good advice, can relate everything about the close nature he lived in for most than 10years now. The place is amazingly quiet, the house is really clean and also cheap considering the area. You can speak English or Spanish. We come as guests and leave as friends. Hope we will get back to this place one day or another.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place has an awesome location with an inspiring backstory. Mike is not only very friendly and helpful, he also brightens up the place even more with his personality. Me and my girlfriend had a great time, and will forever remember this amazing place. Ps. 5 minutes after arrival I was hanging out in the hammock, and two Toucans started “dancing around” in front of me. So wildlife all around.
Cons: 2 hours after we left the place my girlfriend already started saying she was missing Mike and his place ;)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Corcovado Backpackers was brilliant and Mike (the owner) was absolutely amazing! He can speak perfect English and was incredibly friendly. His advice was spot on, he reccomended we do a waterfall hike (not the normal tourist one) a river walk where you have to walk in the river to try to spot Tapir, Corcovado National Park and a walk down to San Josecito Beach. There is the option of the shared or private room (we went for the private room). The private room has mesh instead of windows so you can hear the brilliant rainforest noises outside and the shared room has open walls so you are even more open to the rainforest. You can use his kitchen and he has a hammock up for relaxing. It is quite a long walk to the beach and the town but he can organise a quad bike to take you down to the town for a fairly cheap price. He also told us where to spot Sloths and managed to spot them in a tree for us when driving us back to his place. We completed the waterfall and river walk in one day, the entire time we were completely on our own and did not see another person meaning we could enjoy the nature around us even more. We started by walking to the waterfall up the river (recommend trainers not flip flops) keep looking out for Jesus Christ Lizards running across the water and Amazon Kingfishers catching the fish you stir up behind you. you reach a creek initially that you can swim in and then we got to the waterfall which was absolutely amazing! we then followed the route downriver looking out for Tapirs, it was a beautiful route and as there is no path on either side you walk through the river for the entire time which keeps you cool and is great fun! We found multiple tracks and trails that Tapir had made and smelt them several times (we could only identify all of this due to Mikes tips beforehand) but unfortunately could not spot one on our walk. This route was definitely a highlight of our trip and it was amazing to get to enjoy it without other tourists.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Corcovado Backpackers is located in a small village in the mountains, you feel like you're staying right in the jungle. That makes it very special! You can hear a lot of animals and even see animals like Tucans in the garden and relax in the hammocks. Or you can do hikes or tours on which the host Mike is very helpful! Mike is a super host, he organised my tour to the National Park and gave me a lift whenever I needed to get to the beach to catch a boat. This hostel was just perfect, I'd love to come back sometime!

Pros: Awesome place, well located above the beach, great view, big room, own fridge! Wildlife starts at your balcony!
Cons: Everything was just perfect!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location - sea view was amazing and it was a close walk the beach, restaurants and supermarket. The room was spacious although I was staying solo. It would be pretty cramped for a family of 4. The staff were really helpful and booked my Corcovado tour for me so it was set up for my arrival and did my laundry for a small fee in a matter of hours.
Cons: There were quite a few bugs and lots of ants in my room initially but the guy at reception helped me get rid of most of them. Apart from that the place was clean.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view from the cabina. The location. The sound of the ocean from the room. Cleanliness. Very friendly staff! Everything about this place was great. The owner, Erick, was super friendly! Loved my stay here :)

Pros: This family business provides 100% quality customer service. They are invested in their clients enjoyment. They greet you with a smile, they provide great suggestions for tours in the area. Food at the restaurant is just scrumptious. We ended up staying an extra night. Location is great, has access to the beach, 15 minute walk to the town where you can get snacks, coffee, ice cream, first necesity items. I will definitely come back!
Cons: Honest to goodness can’t think of anything that I disliked.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Close to the beach and Drake. Place was simple but very clean. Good home-made food and personnel sympathetic.
Cons: A bit expensive for what it. Some lighting missing on the path from the room to the restaurant.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were the only guests and had the entire attention of the family running the place. They were delightful! Helping us with everything and booking everything for us! Sitting in the restaurant you look down a river onto the ocean towards the mountains on the other side of the bay. Awesome! Really great service!
Cons: We had a half-night blackout, which is normal for Costa Rica when it rains heavily, but the windows had no mosquito nets. Since the AC is out, we had to open the windows to mosquitos.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff very attentive, big and comfortable room. Good breakfast with several options
Cons: WiFi did not work in the room, only at the restaurant/reception
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Their restaurant is very near to the beach with a beautiful view. We were picked up after the boat ride from Sierpe and driven to the hotel. 9.6 Excellent
Pros: This property was everything I was looking for when I made plans to visit Drake Bay. Our particular cabin was super cozy, and the view from the deck was amazing! Every morning we woke up to the sights and sounds of any number of birds and could hear the waves crashing along the beach. It's also a short hike down into town and to the beaches. The owners helped coordinate transportation from the airport as well as the tours we wanted to do, and they also run the restaurant down below. We only had breakfast there but it was delicious and promptly made every morning. If you don't mind a place that's a little more rustic, you absolutely won't be disappointed!
Cons: As others have mentioned, the stairs up to the cabin can be a pain, but for us it was a non-issue. Just make sure to bring a flashlight with you if you have to manage them at night!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Raquel the owners hospitality, view of the ocean and wild life.
Cons: Lots of Steps, but as this was a return visit, this wasnt a major issue, just an fyi for people to wear a good pair of shoes or flip flops as they seemed to work.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Cabin was cozy, up the hill so we had great views over the bay and lots of birds flying around us. Watching the sunset was magic!
Cons: We didn’t have hot water and the mattress was not comfy. We felt the manager expected us to tip him all the time so made us slightly uncomfortable.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: - the view was amazing - the staff was very friendly and helpful - the food was delicious
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The view from our cabin (no. 1) was beautiful out over the bay through a clearing in the trees and all we could hear was the pleasant sounds of the array of tropical birds in the surrounding trees, we also saw a few monkeys! The cabin was very clean and were more than adequate. Raquel is a great host, she provided a free taxi on our arrival and departure at the beach and kept in touch throughout our stay for anything we needed. We would definitely stay again!
Cons: The only thing that we didnt enjoy so much was the walk from the cabin back down the steps/path to the road. This was because the pathway was a little steep in a few places and it was all generally very slippery, staying fairly wet due to being shaded from the sun under the plants/trees.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's not often we give a 10 rating, but we really loved this property. The individual cabanas are situated up on a hill with a fabulous view. The wildlife is prolific, with humming birds, tucans, and and vultures all around. The two sisters who manage the property both speak excellent English and were really helpful organising tours and giving advice. The associated restaurant serves very tasty food at a great price.
Cons: Nothing - though there is quite a climb to reach the rooms.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great spot with amazing view, and Raquel was the perfect host, she took care of all the tours and boat booking and was always checking of all was ok! We had an wonderful time !
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The lovely view from our lodge. Personnel very friendly. Good food in the restaurant.Tx Raquel and family for the great time.
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: We were a group of friends staying in Drake Bay after a 2 night stay at Sirena Station in Corcovada Park. We had the use of a hire car as we were traveling from Puerto Jimenez and were concerned as to where to park during our stay at Sirena, the boat leaves Drake Bay at 6am. Norlyn very kindly allowed us to park at The Cabinas until our official check-in and was really fast and effecient with all email communications. The Cabinas are extremely clean along with a modern bathroom and great air conditioning, which was a welcome relief after Sirena. Our room had a double bed and bunk bed, fresh towels provided, soap in the shower and a lovely modern sink. There was also a table and 2 chairs outside our door along with a very spacious, outside clean toilet. The freshly cooked breakfast of scrambled eggs was really tasty. Cereal was available along with fresh fruit, coffee/tea, toast, butter and jam. Everything was beautifully presented and all the staff we came into contact with were fabulous, nothing was too much trouble. I highly recommend Cabinas Pura Vida, all of us agreed it was fantastic value for money and I would definitely stay again if I am lucky to return to Drake Bay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Norlyn and Gabby were amazing hosts. I got a horrible sunburn so Norlyn cut open an aloe vera plant he had growing on his property to help soothe my sunburn. He picked us up from the beach when we arrived and drove us to our tours every morning. He made all the arrangements for our tours so we had nothing to worry about. They had the air conditioner going in our room when we arrived so it was already nice and cool. He communicated with me through email many times and was happy to answer any questions I had. The location is in the middle of town so you have easy access to stores if you want to shop but you aren't in the middle of the jungle which probably helps keep the bugs out. There were a few small bugs that came in our room but only if we left the door open which was amazing compared to other hotels we stayed in.00000000
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Really clean, lovely rooms, lovely common area, great location. Norlyn and his wife were very helpful.
Cons: 9pm felt a bit early to close the common area - as it was such a nice space we would’ve liked to be able to sit and read in the hammocks till 10pm.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: breakfast was excellent, tour recommendations and assistance with booking was excellent
Cons: the rain...so we will have to come back in the dry season!!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The owner was very helpful and friendly: thumbs ups!!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Drake Bay is a not that accessible, so we took the boat from Sierpe. (We emailed beforehand to ask them where to leave the car in Sierpe, got a lot of information). Someone from the hotel came to pick us up at the beach and drove us to the hotel. It isn’t far from the beach but the roads are not paved and none of them are flat. So it was nice that they came to pick us up. (They drove us to the beach for the tour and when we left as well) We booked a tour with them to go to Corcovado National Park. They gave us plenty of information and a list of what to bring. (We would add some slippers to the list as we were waiting to get on the boat in our hiking boots and had to take them off because you have to go through the water to get on. Same when getting of in Corcovado.) The tour itself was really nice and we would recommend it. The room was nice and we had enough space, but the beds were not very comfortable. The mattresses are very very hard. Breakfast is nice and you can already get it from 5:30 in the morning. So you can still eat before leaving for a tour at 6 in the morning. Nice place to stay in Drake Bay.
Cons: The beds are not very comfortable. The mattresses are very hard.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Norlyn the owner of the guesthouse is an exceptional host. Starting with an unexpected pick up from the beach when we arrived. He did everything for our convenience. Breakfast was delicious. Everything is super clean. Nice terrace with possibilities to relax in hammocks. We have not seen many guesthouses so clean and good in this price range. Norlyn even drove me to a diving shop one day. Not many owners of guesthouses will drive their customers around for free. What a perfect service.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wondered host. Basic accommodation but really clean and serviced every day. Well worth the money. Breakfast was wonderful.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful owners and staff. They all make you feel very welcome. The rooms are very comfortable, spacious, and have close to perfect showers! In addition, the common area and breakfast satisfied our preferences.

Pros: Great location next to a lovely beach with beautiful walks. Cabin was nice with lovely wooden flooring, electric sockets and a hot shower. We saw toucan, monkeys, macaws and hummingbirds.
Cons: Lovely staff but food was very bland and uninteresting compared to other meals we ate during our trips. Fruit is served on a plate and I would have preferred more. Expensive compared to other places we booked.

Pros: Great location next to a beautiful beach and lovely walks.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Las Caletas is a little paradise between Bahia Drake and Corcovado. That you can only access this hotel by boat gives you the feeling that you are indeed traveling to a lost island and the boat trip is a nice way to explore that mangroves on your way. Las Caletas is run by David and his incredibly friendly team (first and foremost Daniel and Brian) - they always went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and comfortable (thank you for the wonderful Valentine dinner!). The shared dinners in the evening are a great way to get in touch with the few other travelers of the lodge to share tips and experiences of how to explore this unique place in the South of Costa Rica. My husband and myself stayed in one of the "tents" (it feels more like glamping :)) and we really enjoyed it. My parents stayed in one of the rooms which was comfortable and spacious. We wholeheartedly recommend this lodge to everyone who wants to enjoy a peaceful time in one of the most beautiful corners of the world!

Pros: The Hotel is amazing, it sits above a beautiful beach and it's close from the path that connects Drake Bay village to all the other beaches. The staff is very friendly and helpful, I specially liked the fact that they treat the guests by their first name! The food was absolutely amazing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location great staff peaceful place
7.5 Good
Pros: Watching nesting macaws from hammock Tasty three course meals
Cons: Too hot and no pool/air con to cool down Price of beers and soft drinks
8.8 Excellent
Pros: jungle feeling, lots of beatiful birds, butterflies and monkeys, nice food, friendly people
Cons: even it feels like a private beach, someone stole our beach bag (that was unattended, so pay attention)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was absolutely amazing. The views were beautiful and the beach was a short walk away. We stayed in the cottage which was a short walk up hill from the dining room. The boat transfer was smooth and not a problem although we would advise not taking huge suitcases as the beach landing is not suited to such luggage. As we were there in low season there were never more than 6 people staying which meant it was peaceful but sometimes conversation at the shared dining table could be a bit awkward. David, the owner, was helpful but not overbearing.
Cons: The food was fresh and simple and plentiful but not as good as we were expecting based on some of the reviews. We stayed in green season and therefore the weather was a bit unpredictable but that was to be expected and not the fault of the lodge.

Pros: The family that owns the hostel is really great! The owner booked a tour to corcovado immediately for us which was of good quality and the sons were really nice as well! We even forgot something and had to return by car and the son drove towards us for about 20 minutes!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was the best and most friendly host we had in two months traveling. He organized everything for us and the prices for the tours were cheaper then on the Internet. He does everything to make our stay unforgettable and amazing. We had the rooms on the hill and the view is amazing. The kitchen was well equipped, everything including the rooms and bathrooms were very clean and the breakfast was delicious. They have a restaurant and the prices are good and the food was really tasty. We loved this place and would come back anytime. We highly recommend the Hotel.

Pros: Clean simple rooms with a nice shower & AC. Hammocks to chill out in the front of the property. A 10 minute walk up the hill from Drake Bay. Right across the road from the supermarket & next door to the restaurant. Staff were great & helped us to book a tour to Corcovado
6.3 Good
Pros: The staff was really friendly and helped us with activities from the very first minute we arrived. While we were unpacking they arranged the diving for next day for us.
Cons: The walls are very thin so you could hear every street noise and the talking in the restaurant next door. There are no windows in the rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great staff; very nice the common area for free coffee or tea anytime; the room was really comfortable with a.c. and private toilet
Cons: Nothing ;)
2.5 Mediocre
Cons: Cockroaches infested. We had to throw away clothes because of tiny cockroaches invasion. Cockroaches do not die in washing machine. Scheme together with pacheco tours. Book tours with Picolina tours.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Alvaro was ready to pick me up when I arrived on the boat which made for an easy check in. The bed was comfortable, the AC worked great, and there was even a fan to dry my damp clothes (necessary in Costa Rica). I booked my Cano Island and Corcovado tours with the hostel and both were good. The location is great but really all of the places have a great location.
Cons: The diving company I went with wasn’t the best. They had 9 divers to one DM. The actual stay - nothing.
6.3 Good
Pros: The room is big and clean.
Cons: When we arrived in the boat from Sierpe everyone was being picked up by their hosts but no one went to pick us up. We read in comments from other travellers that in their case, they were picked up by Alvaro from Casa Tuanis. The path to the house is a slope and if you are lucky, the path will be dry. In our case, the boat left us at midday, the sun was heating, the luggage was heavy and the path was wet. When we asked the host the reason why no one came for us, the answer was "Take a taxi, they bring you here for 4$". The money itself is not an issue, but we didn't feel welcomed at all. We gave it another chance asking him if he could help us out when we were going to check out. He told us that he could arrange a taxi for us. In the end, we managed it ourselves. Speaking with other travellers from different hotels and hostels, they were all picked up at arrival and brought at departure. As I explained, the path is difficult, so be aware of this when selecting this accomodation. Also I did not like the fact of being several people at nights smoking marihuana in the entrance of the hostel.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: What a great place to stay! The staff were very friendly and helpful, from picking us up when we got off the boat, giving us advice and booking tours for us. One of the staff even helped us book a flight to San Jose as he knew it was the same price as getting boats and buses but alot quicker. Room was immaculate and even smelt clean throughout the stay. A/C worked fine and wifi was good. Great location with two restaurants and a supermarket pretty much at your front door, and not far to the beach and drake bay trail.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, clean and comfortable place. Alvaro is very kind and always helpful.
Cons: Nothing wrong.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: I had a great time in Drake bay. Middle of the small centre of Drake bay. Clean rooms, nice patio to sit and chill. I bootjes my tours at the hotel. Albero and Jamaica are super nice.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Surrounded by plants and tall trees, with a nice shower, spacious rooms and a quiet location.
Cons: N/A
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Huge room, tastefully decorated and furnished. New bathroom, with good hot shower. Free shuttle to and from the boat. Helpful staff - Spanish and English spoken.
Cons: Very loud music from a nearby karaoke bar blasting out until after 1 a.m. on two of the three nights we were there. This is the reason for my low location score. I feel a bit bad about writing this, as it's not the hostel's fault, but I think it would be a deal-breaker for some guests. If you go anyway ( and it IS a lovely hostel), I suggest taking earplugs.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The manager was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were cleaned every day. Towels changed.
Cons: The kitchen facilities were a bit limited, but sufficient. No sink in the kitchen.
6.7 Good
Pros: Very nice people, pick up at the beach and shuttle service to the beach.
Cons: Very simple accommodation, the door has big room under it and at the sides so we were a bit worried about insects or snakes getting in. Also the rooms get very hot.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The owner is really helpful.
Cons: There is a disco around quite noisy.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good value for money! Nice rooms! Fantastic owner!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: 1) We had a small kitchen in our room which was perfect for cooking simple meals. It was equipped with a coffee maker, pans, silverware, plates, and a small refrigerator. 2) The room, bathroom and kitchen where absolutely immaculate! I have never stayed in a hotel that was this clean. Also, many hotels in Costa Rica tend to have a musty smell, this smelled super fresh. They clearly take very good care of the property. 3) The beds were extremely comfortable. 4) Mauri, the receptionist, was very helpful in assisting us to plan our time in Drake Bay. She was very sweet and knowledgeable. 5) We ate dinner one night at the restaurant and the food was delicious!
7.9 Good
Pros: restaurant is very good. staff is very kind. they allow us to store our laggage when we joined over night tour. kitchen has bottled water and coffee machine is useful. location is 10 min far from center of town and it was good for us, silent and many wild birds.
Cons: it was my fault but i misunderstood our room grade. photo of room on web site is high grade room's. I expected the room has air conditioner but down grade room only has fan. we should better check more carefully.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Basic but perfect for a single room and clean. Kitchen facilities with everything you need...
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff were helpful, booking tours for us and holding our bags. Maureen met us off the boat on the beach and helped us carry our bags. They place is good value for Drake bay.
Cons: The WiFi didn't work for one of the days after a power cut.
7.9 Good
Pros: We received a very warm welcome and pick up from the beach was helpful. The room was clean and completely functional. No frills but I don’t think any reasonably priced place in Bahia Drake would give you that.
Cons: Being there in rainy season meant sheets felt a little damp.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff was great. First, we were picked-up at the boat which we did not expect. Actually, it is a pretty bumpy way when you need to walk with your backpack. For sure you won't manage walking with luggage. At Mirian's they arranged snorkeling and the trip to Corcovado for us and they even walked us to the meeting place. We had a great breakfast at Carey's next door and their provided dinner was also good. The room itself was simple but complete including a little, cute kitchen
Cons: The view into the garden was more a view onto parking cars. Still, they do efforts and planting beautiful bushes that attract birds and butterflies
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mirian, the owner is very kind and ready to help you organize. Rooms were very clean and the position, 5 min from the beach.

Pros: What a special place! The owners care so much about the property, cleanliness, and meals and it really shows. They helped us arrange a tour of Corcovado that was unforgettable! A truly unmatched experience for us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: If you're looking for a place to relax and stay away from the routine, noise ans people, that's your place! I loved being in the middle of nowhere, having breakfast and other meals in front of an amazing garden where you can also see a lot of wildlife. It's a very quiet place so you really have the chance to enjoy and listen to the voice of nature. And if you're so lucky as I was, you can even have breakfast with a parrot in front of you! It's a family-run hotel, very nice lodges preserving the rustic style. The family is just awesome and very helpful. You can see that they really love what they do. There are nice beaches only a few minutes walk from the property and you can also walk to Drake village, which is about 45 minutes away. The hotel was very clean and the room big enough to enjoy the stay. Wi-Fi works pretty well at the property. Breakfast and the other meals were delicious. Can't complain about a thing. I can only recommend this place.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: It is really remote in the Dschungel and you are not Tourist number in a Hotel complex but kind of a member of the host family and the small village. Lisbeth & Isaac take so warmly care of us, we felt so welcomed and looked after from the very beginning. The food was the best we had in Costa Rica, all traditionally self made and they fulfill you every extra wish. You feel like heaven. You can watch many birds in the garden, toucans, Aras etc. You can also play soccer every afternoon with the locals who play an excellent ball, really an experience! Or you hike along the coast line through the jungle or you simply jump in the water on the sandy house beach. Simply spent there 3-4 nights or longer, it’s worth every second!!! Thanks again Lisbeth, Vanessa and Isaac. Pics come later directly to your email inbox. Diana&Jörn
Cons: Only Cash, really only cash!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Abundant nature, good food and great hospitality at affordable price!!
Cons: It is a heaven on the earth, to reach heaven you will have to take some trouble !! To reach there you have to climb up a bit !! Once you are there you feel like you are in paradise! Cabin is spacious, most comfortable with an excellent view of nature, just by sitting in porch you could watch many birds of paradise like Tucans, Macau, parrots etc. Real paradise for birders. It is like a family business, husband and wife they run it very efficiently though they are lagging in speaking in English !! Food is gorgeous and plenty, really enjoyed very much. For couples it is real paradise.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Family hosts, food, location = Pure paradise I felt so welcomed by the hosts, a wonderful, truly warm-hearted Tico family from the area. They truly ensure that you are comfortable every chance they get. They even let me use their family kitchen to prepare some snacks. As a lone traveler, it was nice to get great conversation from the family who is very knowledgeable of the area and are open-arms in every aspect of hospitality. The hosts pointed out sloths, howler monkeys and flora - amazing place to stay if you truly want to be in a remote setting of undisturbed bliss. There’s a wonderful hike along the coast where there’s stunning barren beaches, highly recommended. This was definitely one of the main highlights of all of Costa Rica - best experience ever.. I will for sure be back again. Tengo mucha suerte de tener esta experiencia. Ya he recomendado este lugar a mis amigos y familias. Muchas gracias por la increíble estancia! :) :)
Cons: Nada!
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Nice people..
Cons: Long walking (500 m) ... claiming in a maddy trail. No trail to the bungalow caused me to sleep (in a rainy evening) and brack my leg! Over all not recommended..

Pros: I loved everything about this place! The food is amazing, the owner and his family are LOVELY, the location is perfect for a true getaway and my room was perfect! One of the best places I have stayed IN THE WORLD (and there have been many). You will not regret booking this place.
Cons: Having to leave was the worst thing.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The view from the room is just breath taking. We had hummingbirds and macaws flying all around us and watched a lighting storm across the bay. For such a great price, we really enjoyed our stay!
Cons: Bed was a little bit hard and water came through the roof a little bit in the storm.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The view is great! You will be picked up at the peer because the boat captain calls the hotel to tell them that you are on your way. We booked the tour to the Sirena Station in the National Park through the hotel (90$ per person, that’s the usual price) and that day we received breakfast before leaving. The staff is really nice. The cabins are simple but you’ll find everything you need. There is a kitchen to use and a communal area to chat, play games, eat...
Cons: The green parrots sleep in the tree in front of the cabins so it gets really noisy at 5 o clock in the morning. That didn’t bother us but if you are sensible for sounds in your sleep you should have that in mind.
7.9 Good
Pros: Beautiful view on the ocean, well situated in the Drake village. Personnel was kind
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Loved the view!

Pros: Very friendly and helpfull service. The view is also one of the best. Murillo is near to the beach.
Cons: Cabinas de Murillo are at the main road in Drake Bay and a lot of motorbike passing loudly very early in the morning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view was fabulous. The location was good with good eating spots around.
Cons: The knife in the common kitchen had a funny smell to them.

Pros: great food.. great beach access nice people.. kayaks wildlife nature a beautiful lagoon
Cons: they have 3 very bad rooms tiny dark and noisy and we got one for first night.. then they changed us to a much nicer brighter larger ocean front room.. it was like night and day.. make sure you get one of the ocean front cabins.... this place is expensive compared to some other good places in Drake Bay
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good location with easy access to the beach. The food was terrific! It was the best food we had in all of the places we visited in Costa Rica!! The staff were kind and extremely helpful. They helped us arrange taxis to and from palmar sur and were helpful when our original flight was canceled. The air conditioner was excellent! And the bed was comfortable.
5.0 Okay
Pros: To be fair - the hotel staff itself was mostly very frienldy, helpful and nice, good first impression - unfortunately I had to deal with an arrogant hotel manager who believed she had to patronize parents and their children (!) Absolutely misleading info respectively too late provided info about various snorkling trip rules. You cannot put 14 people on a boat for snorkling and then (because the group has been made by the hotel is so big) expect them to snorkle and stay very closely as a group under the "dictate" and "domination" of an incompetent person in the water. This is a "nonsense experience in paradise" and this is not why one does travel to this area. Therefore - terrible stay for me personally but for elderly people the hotel might be ok - I do respect elderly people. The hotel is rather nothing for "younger guests", especially not for guests who travel with children. Parents do not need hotel managers to patronize them. I am a parent by myself and do take safety and responsible behavior also during sport activities like swimming extremely seriously - no compromise on safety - we had private life jackets and other private safety equipment with us - better equipment than what the hotel offered but we were not allowed to use our own equipment the way we wanted to use it ! The hotel is nothing for more dynamic and sport oriented guests. Trips to Cano Island - do organize individually or simply go to Madagascar, Seychelles or other spots.
Cons: Misleading respectively too late provided info on "rules which do apply" during activities like snorkling. Arrogant hotel manager on site - unwilling / unable to listen to customer / guest feedback. Kitchen: average for a spot like Drake, poor if higher standards and expectations would apply. Boring atmosphere in the hotel - it is not a "pirate cove".
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Private boat from the lodge back to Sierpe. Nice pool and very close to the beach.
6.3 Good
Pros: Beautiful remote location
Cons: Bar area for after dinner drinks would be nice. Insufficient loungers and parasols around pool area. No choice for evening meal.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very nice atmosphere, friendly staff, lovely location. We really enjoyed it.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Practically everything
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The magnificent views, wildlife on your doorstop, friendly staff.
Cons: The hike up the stairs to get to the rooms :)
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel staff and Resturant/kitchen staff were excellent. We had a medical issue and Carlos, the hotel manager, made the arrangements for 2 doctor visits, personally drove us and stayed to translate the doctor's instructions. We needed boiling water for a treatment and the kitchen staff were very accommodating. They saved our holiday! The food was delicious and pleasing presentation. Had a good wine selection. The Chef, Shirley, is an asset to the hotel.
Cons: The hotel owners need to upgrade the bar and kitchen .
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location, staff, amazingly beautiful setting. Restaurant is amazing. Chef is Italian and is excellent. If you are looking for good Italian and Spanish it's great. You must make reservations in the morning. All the people are very helpful. Breakfast is also great.
Cons: My only complaint is that there is not any air conditioning in most of the rooms. The ones that do have it are not accessible yet and there are many stairs to climb. I really wanted to give this place the best, but, that is the only issue. Giovanni, Rolando and all the guys are great. Very hard working and honest. We will be back as long as we can get an air conditioned room. Pura Vida.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: fantastic location, staff, trips and food
Cons: cant think of anything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I can't speak highly enough of this hotel. Amazing view, great food, friendly staff, fantastic scuba diving. Need I say more? In particular, Justin and Shirley were fantastic, as were the housekeepers who cleaned our room daily. We would 100% come here again.
Cons: No complaints at all
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. The staff is very friendly, flexible to guests' special needs and very professional. The hotel restaurant is delicious, a very nice atmosphe and dishes are high quality. Our room was huge, very comfortable, clean and had the best view of the Drake Bay. The hotel helped us organize tours to Corcovado park which were punctual and excellent in general. Transfers to and from Sierpe by boat also met our expectations. I recommend this hotel 100%.
Cons: The boat transfers and Corcovado park entrance fees are much lower for Costa Rican nationals. This is not made clear in the hotel website. The hotel will make a discount to nationals if they ask for it, but this should be done by default.
