Location of hotel was good, as away from Ipanema Beach and the crowds, had a small beach directly below hotel and a shuttle bus into town
Hotel old 60's style hideous architecture, tiling/grouting in bathroom appalling, lack of coffee shop and attractive restaurant (apart from buffet restaurant near pool, but don't want to eat there every night) in evening, lighting in bar and hotel restaurant appalling at night - depressing. Very small pizza restaurant near pool, but always full as not nearly enough tables - very old fashioned - could renovate into lovely larger seating area as lots of room surrounding restaurant. Hotel overpriced considering all these drawbacks, staff pleasant in reception but many waiters offhand - not up to normal Sheraton high standards
The beach was private, clean and beautiful...a nice break from the crowded beaches of Ipanema or Copacabana. The driver service at the hotel was our best experience with knowledgeable drivers who were courteous and friendly. The concierge service was also helpful and friendly.
The hotel is terribly dated and run down. The prices are absolutely astronomical and do no warrant such mark ups. A simple buffet breakfast with very poor quality food and choices cost $26 US per person. Drinks are $9 for the traditional Caperienha where outside the hotel you pay a maximum of $5. The front desk staff at check in was overwhelmed due to the holiday season, but they were not only unfriendly, they were slow and inefficient. It took us over two hours to check in and once we finally got our rooms, they did not honor our prepaid reservation. This was eventually corrected, but the frustration was not worth it.
Very good location - close to everywhere
This is not truely 5 star hotel. It is poorly managed, no sence for details in hotel interier.
Good location, wonderful staff
Close to the city, spa was very good, staff was friendly.
Renovation, at times noise and blokking a bit of the view.
