Hotel was in a good location. Our room was very small and very poorly lit.
We stayed many places in Italy, but San Lorenzo really stood out. Beautiful, super clean, excellent breakfast. The woman who owns the 500 year old converted palace is pure class! And Relais San Lorenzo reflects all her good taste.
Comfortable room Plastic cups for breakfast juice. Artificial flowers on the table
Excellent location, spacious historic, well furnished, elegant setting with limited but more than adequate and very helpful assistance- nearby small hotel for any needed assistance when Relais not staffed. Good for independent travelers who are self-sufficient. Was perfect for us- might be problematic for someone traveling to Italy for the first time- really a b&b so that directions re checking in and out must be followed-
Easy reach of the city, lovely and modern
The room was very spacious and nicely furnished, high ceiling, large bathroom. The location was excellent for walking to sights. Another lamp would be nice as it was somewhat dark. It was a bit cold at night but we used the blankets provided.
Centrally located in Lucca. A building full of character and interesting features. Our particular room on a lower floor was quite noisy from staff working the kitchen above and guests passing through the entrance starwell. But all other areas seemed to be very quiet an peaceful.
a pleasant Ralais, interesting old Palais with historic connections, the rooms were furnished in 18th cent style. Comfortable and attractive, pleasant breakfast in beautiful large room. Staff were very friendly and approacheable We did not know that there would really not be anyone to let us in if we arrived between 13:00 and 15:00 when the hotel was closed. It would be helpful to make this much clearer. The location was superb inside the wall of the city
Convenient location close to places of interest. Spacious rooms, nicely furnished with patio access and nice Italian ambience Difficult stairs to access hotel foyer. Lack of help with luggage. Major noisy and dusty construction at building entrance. Taxi driver could not find hotel even with navigation device. Sign for hotel too small and brely readable from short distance. Owner not very friendly. Refused us use of toilet facilities after we had checked out.
Very nice old pallazo, nice lady at reception, beautiful rooms, well located, room butterfly is fantastic some noise coming from restaurant in the same block (kitchen)
we found the hotel to be near to the city centre and also found it to be in a quiet location, but this would not suit everyone as a car is preferable.
Be mindful this is an apartment and not a hotel. The staff was friendly and the apartment was clean. I would stay here again if given the chance. The stove for my apartment did not work, but the hotel staff permitted me to use the hotel next to my apartment. The beds were lumpy and need replacement.

we had a great time at this apartment, it was extremely spacious and comfortable, far more so than I expected.
Enough space to accommodate six of us and convenient for purpose (to visit Lucca and Pisa on the way to Sardinia). Swimming Pool. Clean. No microwave and insufficient plates / cutlery to self-cater. No air con in living room (which is where two of the children had to sleep and it was too hot).
Very helpful staff. Quiet location. Rooms in self-catering apartments are large and comfortable and the pool is clean. Supermarkets and pizza take away close to hotel. Self-catering apartments a bit short of equipment, i.e. oven, microwave and kettle. Would not stop me going back. Staff arranged airport transfer for 60 euros, worth paying. Enjoyed our time there.
Nice quiet family hotel, with pool which was essential for kids. Staff friendly and helpful did their best to please. Shops ans bus stop to town very close For self catering apartment very basic, no microwave, hair dryer, or iron (but in fairness was supplied when asked for)The surrounding area not very pleasing on the eye, although a nice view of the mountains.
It was close to the beach. No hot water. TV didn't work. The dresser drawer was broke and laying on the floor when we first walked in the room.
Location It needs reconstruction and meals were poor
A little expensive but great quality in return!
Great location, right on the beach
Air conditioners were working good. Dirty and smelly room, no hot water, broken shower, broken fridge, plastic glasses for expensive coctails in restaurant …
This is the way to view Italy. The atmosherics, the owners and the staff made this one of the best nights we had spent in the region (even in a thunderstorm). If you get the chance make sure you try dinner and spend longer than an overnight stop! Nothing!
Being able to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air and the fresh home cooked meals.
The receptionist Paola was excellent, nothing was too much trouble and she was so friendly and helpful. The setting of the hotel was lovely. The English lady in the mornings could have been more friendly and helpful. Very poor breakfast.
wine, dinner, staff (not manager) Busses did not run on a schedule
Convenience to several sites
Do not think this place deserves to be called a ***
Location is convenient Some thoughts about the owners: Oh the owners... they are really tired by all the tourists and probably they are in the wrong business... They rent something like 5 to 7 rooms at their own home and at the same time they don't want to bothered! Thats about 10 people a day that they have to avoid...They expect you to arrive between 15.00 and 19.00 otherwise they keep your money and you stay out of their property (check some of the previous reviews)! I made the reservation based on the location and the good average rating of something like 8.5. At that time I was thinking that it was a real hotel ... At arrival we found nothing but a closed door and a ringer that nobody answered... So I checked my confirmation mail just to be sure that we were at the right place and that was when I came across a strange email... Dear Guest: I would like to remind you that the check in is available from 3.00 PM to 7.00 PM. After 7.00 PM , you will not be accepted . BR The Owner Wow!!! I did not know what was more appropriate to laugh at this impossible message or to cry. Anyway I realized that time was exactly 15.05 when a young man came (probably an employee) called the owner named Patricia who was the whole time INSIDE the building but just didn't mind opening the door or answering our calls!!! The young man asked Patricia which is our room and she gave him instructions. So that was pretty much the only interaction we had with the hotel staff. We quickly left our luggage and headed for the city. Next morning we made what would soon be proven to be a very bad decision... we decided to prolong our stay in Pisa and head to the nearby villages. As you probably guess we were alone at the hotel and nobody answered our calls so I payed for our second night through the booking site, received the confirmation and left a written message at our door explaining that we payed for a second night (time was 10am). At 16.33 I received an sms from Patricia the owner: I'm sorry but your Bill isn't pay. You luggage is in the living. Ciao ciao Tried multiple times to call her back but she never answered so I forwarded her the confirmation letter just to verify that everything was payed and informed her that we would be back by 10pm. We were back in town by 9pm. At the hotel we met Patricias spouse who told us that they re-arranged our things in another room in the first floor but quickly after we had to confront Patricia that acted like crazy!!! Saying impossible things like that she had not eaten dinner because of us an all the time she were referring to us in Italian language saying very inappropriate things and she wanted us out!!! So Patricias spouse re arranged again our things in yet another room in the second floor without any windows with the bathroom outside and so small that we could hardly stand. Guess this was something like a punishment for being late... Because of text size limitations I'll make it short Patricia refused tho give me back some personal items of me like mine travel kettle... We called Police to help us out but that didn't work either... Patricia refused to meet them All ended with Patricias spouse (who identified himself as a policeman) threading my spouse to be careful because "the dog didn't like her" and HITTING and PUSHING my spouse out of the front door!!! We spent a whole day in the local police station and hospital... to be continued.........
