River Empress Information
About River Empress
River Empress from Uniworld Boutique River Cruises is one of the most luxurious ships to be found on Europe's Rhine River. It isn’t part of a class of ships: instead, it’s completely unique. Built in 2001 and refurbished in 2017, this 361-ft vessel feels wonderfully modern. The River Empress makes several trips along the Rhine, all captivating in their own way. The seven-night Castles Along the Rhine cruise takes passengers from Basel, Switzerland, to Amsterdam, Netherlands. Shore excursions, led by locally based, English-speaking guides, include wonderful walking tours of the charming towns visited along the way. There's also a riverboat tour of Strasbourg, and opt-in excursions to the Black Forest or a cable car ride in Rüdesheim. River Empress carries 130 passengers and a crew of 41. There are 61 staterooms and four suites of astonishing luxury and with varying sizes of window. Amenities include flat-screen TV, safe, hairdryer, pillow menu, and marble-tiled shower. Guests staying in suites also enjoy butler service and a separate sitting area. Onboard activities are low-key and relaxed, designed to complement busy days of shore excursions. Informative presentations about the next day's itinerary take place nightly, and there are enrichment lectures about local art, food, music, and wine. There is also a piano player in the Main Lounge, sun deck, a small spa, and in-room massages available. While River Empress attracts more mature passengers most of the year, it is child-friendly in the summer months, with creative activities for youngsters.
