The Staff were very friendly - we were staying during one of the World Cup Spain matches - they had a big screen set up with tapas etc in the cloisters - lots of fun. No
room view of penafiel castle lit up on the hill-magical. Wonderful courtyard/cloister. Position next to the old town and river.Relaxed ambience and peaceful. Good breakfast but wouldn't reccommend the evening meal unless you are into gourmet food and small portions. €11 for a small bowl of onion soup set the tone
A very pleasant surprise. Comfortable room with modern conveniences, nice lobby, interesting refurbishment of an old convent, good dining room, all in a small town in the Ribera del Duero wine region of Spain.
Nicely reformed convent, excellent for discovering the Ribera wine region. Excellent Ribera del Duero winelist at very moderate prices.
A really outstanding hotel. Excellent bedroom. Perfect staff. Perfect position. Secure parking. Swimming pool. Nothing!
.Well locate for our wine tour. Very nice architecture. Good parking. Quiet and comfortable No internet connection at the room.
Very adequate room No forewarning about the noise from wedding reception guests on Saturday pm/Sunday am. Dangerously slippery shower base.
Very peaceful calm atmosphere - the Spa was very well equipped . The surrounding area is not beautiful but of interest to wine lovers
Staff were wonderful, very friendly and helpful For a four star hotel I would have expected to have a bathroom with a bath and tea and coffee facilities available in the room. We also had two beds pushed together which is not ideal. But the hotel is beautiful and well placed. It has a very relaxed atmosphere and the food for breakfast and the restaurant were delicious. The open space for relaxing works very well. Spa is a little overpriced
Great architecture, perfect location, very nice furniture, excellent restaurant. Wish we had been there for a longer stay. We travel to many loacations and stay in many hotels, this was a very pleasant suprise difficult to find as the Garmin takes you to the wrong location
The hotel was very easy to find and the staff were helpful, especially when we needed to book taxis. The hotel wasn't that convenient for easy access to the town centre.
Quality of the room and the interior design of the hotel The restaurant has a very limited menu and was overpriced for the quality of the food - we would never eat there again. It was our second visit in 5 months.
Extremely comfortable. Helpful staff. Quiet, even though close to A1. Lovely location in vineyards, Interesting building.
Beautifully restored building, the public areas reflect the areas history and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. Staff very helpful.
Very nice, room really good and facilities very good - although I felt the menu was a little expensive but good never the less - I would stay here again.
convenient location exspensive food
All the lights and water went off at about 8:00 in the morning (for more than 1:30 h), therefore we couldn't take a proper shower nor see anything in the room. Basically, a disaster (even if this could happen anywhere, it has actually never happened to me in many years of traveling). They reacted reasonably, though, and offered us breakfast for free. Also, this hotel is a highway hotel, therefore it is ok if you have to stop while on the road, but not the right location if you want to walk downtown (Aranda de Duero is > 5 Km away).
Used as stop on route home. What was supposed to be just that turned out to be a lovely experiance.
Ease of access to the A1 ,good security for cars
Reception staff very helpful and friendly, room comfortable and quiet even though highway very close. Associated restaurant slightly expensive but menus good value. Buffet breakfast rather expensive with limitrd choice - particularly in hot food.
Fantastic own wine
air con in the room
Room was spacious, well equiped, quiet, secure as was all of hotel Restaurant prices were high, cafetteria was better.
I like the rural poistionof this hotel The bacon, sausages and eggs were cold at breakfast
Great for on route ( next to main road travelling to Santander ). Situated next to a vineyard therefore sampling the hotel wine in their beautiful bar was a bonus. .
Proximity to the motorway - no problem finding it.
the peace and comfort of the room
all round quality hotel, good food and value for money nothing
The owner and the hotel staff are extremely friendly. They helped us out in arranging wine cellar visits. Also the hotel itself is unique in its design and feel.
The hotel is very well designed and decorated with a peaceful atmosphere. It could have been rather 'snooty', but the owners and staff were very approchable.
Everything about the hotel, the rooms, the staff and the breakfast were great. The access to Penefiel and the wine country was easy and while we didn't get to take advantage of the spa, it looked exceptional. The hotel is in a semi deserted village surrounded by delapidated falling down casas. It was very unnerveing driving up to the place. Very uncomfortable.
good service, good restaurant, excelent service in spa area, big rooms poor indicated from the main road
It was an outstanding experience, from getting their help with wine tours to wonderful dinners and the spa.
The receptionist was very good, spoke good clear Spanish so no problem understanding her. She also spoke good English though for us that was not necessary. The room was clean and well appointed. None
Convenient on the main road to Santander. Could not adjust the heating, it was a bit cold during the night.
Overnight stay when travelling North from home near Granada to Bilbao for week with our UK based family. We really enjoyed our stay and intend to return for a longer visit next year.No noise at all from nearby motorway and room very comfortable.Being British we always have travel kettle and mugs so absence of tea making did not bother us.Never get it in Spain anywhere.Reasonable priced food not easy to find but the steak in the Asado opposite best we had in all time living in Spain. Highly recomend this hotel. Slight problem with shower fitting which made showering a challenge -but just a maintenance probelm
Only stayed there as it was next to a motorway on my way from Malaga to Santander. Idealy situated at the end of the sliproad. Staf helpful, English minimal.
Everything but could do with Tea/Coffe Faclities See Above
Clean, new, modern, spacious rooms, superb bathroom.Excellent restaurant opposite, also restaurant + caferteria otherside road. Approach from autovia, not clear. Autovia exit number need clarification [one more than hotel address]. Hotel sign hardly visible until very close.
The staff were friendly and welcoming. The rooms are excellent wih spacious bathooms. Beware of the slippy shower basin!
Booked as an overnight stop driving on to Granada. Hotel had no restaurant but a lovely bar and restaurant just opposite the hotel so we had a good meal there. Great overnight stop.
Convenience of break in journey. Found room very cold. thermostat not working and not enough pillows and blankets. no plug in wash basin unless requested.
The location was convenient for our onward journey. The room was lovely, surprisingly sophisticated and had all we needed No, nothing.. But saying the drinks machine was a plus, gave a wrong impression of the hotel - a negative one.
Lovely room & breakfast. Staff very pleasent and helpful. Pool lovely. Village only 5 minutes walk away. Hotel on a busy main road which can be noisy with the lorries going by when sat at the pool.
The customer service nothing was too much trouble, the facilities there are excellent, nice breakfast, very peaceful, changing and shower facilities if you want to rest by the pool after you check-out.Nice sunloungers with matresses. If you arrive late at night the hotel is in darkness you need to press buzzer to get in but we didn't know this and thought it was closed as there are no lights anywhere, also hard to see from the road as you drive along ok with sat nav but otherwise might be difficult to spot.
Hotel dog friendly, nothing too much trouble.
Very clean and elegant Booked hotel because it had a restaurant, this did not open until 9pm. As we were driving through Spain and needed an early start this was too late.
Pet friendly hotel, no fuss made about this. No hotel parking but plenty of parking nearby.
Very spacious room, with en-suite bathroom all clean and tidy. No problem with allowing us to have the dog in the room. Unfortunately it was a Sunday and the restaurant was closed although they had had a private function earlier, and the bar did not serve tapas, or snacks. Everyone was off to watch the world cup final! I think the breakfast was a little over priced considering what was on offer.
Hotel bedroom was excellent, Bar service rather slow, restaurant adequate.
Restaurant and buffet breakfast at value for money prices
Very helpful reception desk staff. Note that all rooms are different, make sure you get a good one!!!!
The friendly helpful staff The room was very warm despite having air conditioning.
Very well located, clean, very Spanish in decor and well located and godd value, restuarant not open on Sundays and few restaurant open in the city centre.
Very comfortable The food in the resturant was very very dissapointing. I did not eat my meal, told the waiter it was abad dish of food. I was told the chef cooks a good steak!!! I was charged for the meal. We were given complementary liqueurs.
Location The rom, reception and corridor stink/smell really bad smoke cigarretes. lied about tv channels!!!!!!!!!!!! Pay extra money to your hotel for nothing I coud not watch channel I wanted as you advertised satelite tv!!! Restaurant food not available at the cafe or restaurant until pm.resumen: olor a cigarrillos en porteria, habitacion y corredores. no me gusta que me enganen anuncian tv channels y luego cuando protestas te dicen que me tengo que aguantar, solo tienen canales basicos. no me gusta que me enganen con la comida no te sirven comida hasta las 9 de la noche y anuncian puedes ir a la cafeteria a cualquier hora.
Hotel was clean and they had a restaurant and cafe/bar. It was close to the city center. If you go, brush up on your spanish. This whole area of Spain do not speak much English.
the cafe bar was open for food when the restaurants in penefiel were shut
Excellent front desk staff Everything said in one room can be heard in the hall and in adjacent rooms.
Friendly, helpful staff. Very clean good beds and cot. Very good restaurant.
The receptionist was rude. Our room was not ready even though we arrived at 4.30 in the afternoon. We expected a room with a view of the castle but were given a room with a view of a concrete wall. After complaining and arguing with reception, we were eventually given a room at the front of the hotel with a view. The hotel was totally unexceptional in its style and facilities.
Restaurant was very cheap but good quality. Breakfast open till 11.00 in the weekends. Staff at the reception was not very helpfull in finding information. For example: They were not able to find taxi's for us.
Close to the city center. Good view of the castle. Two twin beds pushed together to make a queen. At least use queen sheets so the beds don't separate.
Friendly, competent staff, even though, to our shame, we speak little Spanish. Evening meal was very good in the restaurant and the breakfast copious.
