We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hôtel De L'île & Restaurant La Chaloupe . The staff were very friendly and efficient. The accomodation was basic but very clean. The Restaurant was excellent offering a varied menu of sea food and meat complimented by fine wines and coffee. We would like to visit again and have recommended both the Hotel and Restaurant to friends. The hotel lacks an area, inside or outside where you can sit down. (other than in your room)
Good position for the coast and beach. Convenient for the pleasant town of Rochfort, and the surrounding district
Very nice modern hotel, very close to I'le Madame. Calm and peaceful surroundings. Very friendly staff. Excellent Restaurant.
Personal attention from staff No
Very clean, comfortable and excellent food No place to convene in the evening
We liked the friendly and helpful service, the seaside location and the quiet surroundings. The rooms were comfortable and clean. As with most hotels in France, at the moment smoking is still permitted in bedrooms. Whilst they did their best to mask the smell of stale cigarette smoke it is never 100% successful. Sooner France prohibits smoking in bars, hotels and restaurants the better.
Great rooms, very contemporary and comfortable with lots of 'extras'. The restaurant serves fabulous food, particularly if you like seafood! Wonderful. The menu didn't seem to change so if you were here for alonger stay you may struggle to find something different to eat every day. There are no other restaurants much around so this could be a problem. Also, the hotel felt very much like a restaurant with rooms as in there were no communcal areas to sit either indoors or outdoors.
Very friendly personnel, the room was tidy and comfortably furnished. Very friendly staff! I would definitely stay there again!
Extremely comfortable and well designed bedroom with seaview and excellent modern bathroom. Delicious meal (lobster!) well served and outstanding in value for money. Pleasant and helpful staff.
Just a place to sleep one night during travel.
The Visit was not a holiday as I was visiting my seriously ill father in hospital
Good breakfast and helpful staff. Good access to nearby restaurants Location not suitable for travellers without car.
Very friendly staff, speaking english very well. You can have a good meal (menu) in the restaurant for a very fair price!
The setting of the hotel is nice, situated on a lovely lake. I felt that this hotel was not good value for money, the food was very poor and the room was also not great. Our bill for room and dinner for one night was 250 Euro, we stayed in a 5 star Chateau during our stay for the same price!!!!! Very over priced
Central location very clean and tidy
Clean, friendly hotel. The noise at night which is not the fault of the hotel but it was bad.
Old fashioned hotel needing upgraded, very central to town, should include breakfast in price. Price of breakfast not included
well situated downtown and quiet, friendly atmosphere, comfort is modest but sufficient for weekend trip. doors to corridor were not tight allowing people passing by to be heard
Spacious clean room, a pleasant surprise at the end of a dull corridor. Adequate breakfast. Great location. Friendley staff. Would recommend to anyone passing through Rochefort. Don't be put off by the looks from outside. -
friendly nature of people, energy conservation
People very nice Need internet access
Staff were friendly, room was ok The biggest put off was the entrance way and the dreadful green carpet, when we got to the room it was actually ok. Breakfast room was nice and breakfast was great, just the hallway tainted the stay, good location though, quiet but close to centre, staff were very helpful.
central position, free parking, good breakfasts. No
The staff was very friendlly and helpful.
Quiet in a good location. The room was large and comfortable, if a little dated in terms of decoration. The air conditioning was effective and quiet. We found the welcome a little lacking in warmth
The location, the grounds and the swimming pool area. The rooms were very corporate and so were a disappointment compared to the grandeur of the building overall
Comfortable room, ask for the first floor front if you want a balcony, clean and good size. bathroom a good size and clean. Ideal for a short stay. We did not eat in the hotel but the restaurant menu looked very nice. Short walk into the lovely town of Rochefort. Rooms at the front are facing a road so a little noisy. Rooms at the back face a back lane.
The friendly welcome, courteous staff. Ideal position for purpose of visit The weather was very hot during our visit. Air conditioning would have been very welcome.
location and design no air con - it was hot 90+ degrees. And very noisy from kitchen ventilation shaft next to our room
There is no free WIFI
Nearness to La Rochelle and the Ile de Re We thought it a little tired and bland. Could do with redecoration. Also our hotel room smelled strongly of cigarettes. Not very pleasant.
The hotel stay was pleasant. The breakfast was reasonable.Only 5 mins from centre of town. We'd stay there again -Irish family with 3 Kids -
For the price a very good hotel, I cannot fault the hotel in any way, good clean & friendly hotel. No, all positive.
Near to town...I was visiting friends in Echillais and Tonnay Charente and did not want to rent a car on the days they could not spend time with me. I was able to walk to the Corderie, L'Hermione, Atelier Begonia,Musee de Pierre Loti, to lunch in town etc. Dinner at the Hotel one night was good, buffet breakfast good as well. Service in the restaurant was excellent. More soundproofing so that my phone calls did not bother others. My family was in a different time zone and to speak with them I had to call later in the evening. Thicker towels and updated bedding would be nice but I was comfortable without extra luxuries. Also because I did not want to travel with a laptop, a small area with a couple of computers for guests to use would be helpful. I had to walk to the Cybercafe, not always convenient in terms of hours it was open.
Excellent evening menu with interesting selection of dishes. Shower over the bath with shower head that would not stay put and showered most of the bathroom.
It was very convenient and easy to find and it was good we could have a family room for our 2 children.
Delightful small hotel in a gorgeous location (historic town of Rochefort). The generous buffet breakfast featuring home-made preserves and yoghurt was an excellent start to the day.
The hotel was well situated in the middle of town, staff were extremely friendly and hotel well kept. The hotel was fine, Rochefort on the other hand we found very expensive and quiet, but we we're only passing through on our way to Spain so it was ideal
The staff went out of their way to make you feel comfortable. It had all the comforts of a large, chain hotel (full bar, breakfast buffet, gifts/postcards available at reception) but with the personal service of a small, family owned hotel.
Perfect value fro little money. A pearl amongst the many hotels. The staff is friendly and breakfast better than in most 4star hotels. Room super clean also the bathroom.
Good location, nice hotel and nice staff Be ware of the stairs.
Ok for an overnight stay but not suitable for longer holiday in my opinion
Efficient check in/out, friendly staff
Quality/price ratio Bed was pretty soggy - new mattresses needed?
We stayed in eight Campaniles...This was our first Campanile we were so please with our choice the bedroom/bed was spotless floors were clean and the air conditioner worked without stale air blowing in our face at night the food in the restaurant was excellent this Campanile spoiled us as we did not have the same quality with others throughout our stay in France. We were very disappointed in the bathroom it was not up to the quality of the rest of the Room/Hotel it had huge holes in the wall around the shower and mold around the tub... The sink, and toilet were spotless.
Excellent for an overnight stay None
I would´t recomend it: too much money for what you get. Location on a suburb spot, near warehouses and industries.
We arrived late and I was tired having driven for the first time in France. Although the restaurant was about to close, we were able to eat and I was so grateful for that.
Food was good, staff were helpful. Black mold in corner of bedrooms, rooms damp and very basic. General condition of buildings was poor.
Clean, good bathroom and bedroom space. Staff good. Tea/coffee facilities appreciated. Breakfast not good value for money as limited selection - usually wider range in these hotels. We paid Euros 5 for similar breakfast at another hotel on the same trip.
