With a stay at Hoyo Hoyo Safari Lodge in Kruger National Park, you'll be on a river, just steps from Manyeleti Game Reserve. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and laundry facilities.
Pros: The small boutique hotel experience. The room was beautiful. Outside shower wonderful. Bed heaven! Animal experience breath-taking!!!
Cons: Food was just ok. They tried very hard and taking into account its in the middle of no where, its understandable. However, not amazing. That where they could lift there game.
Pros: The property was good-to-very-good and the staff were friendly and efficient. Driver-guide and game drives were good too.
Cons: On the down side, it is rather cold at this time of year in Kruger so having dinner outside was NOT A GOOD IDEA: hot meals went cold very quickly and the lounge area had a large fireplace but no fire.
Pros: Our guide Andrew was excellent and the staff were brilliant.
Cons: You could only have a shower in daylight as they are outside.
Pros: Great get away from it all location including the benefit of no WiFi or phone signal. Staff were very funny and hospitable. We enjoyed their banter. Food was excellent and views over the waterhole wonderful. Watching elephant safely from about 20ft from our breakfast table was an experience. Rooms were clean and well serviced and our massage n one day was one of the best ever.
Cons: Game drive success was a bit mixed. Had a brilliant time watching 8 lions close to the property and the elephants visiting the waterhole were impressive. However, game density in the area seemed a little sparse compared to other safaris. Not sure if going in April with thick lush vegetation impacted the game viewing experience or whether we were just unlucky
Pros: The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. They like to treat each guest as an individual. Food quality was top notch and superbly cooked. Ambience and location are out of this world and very exclusive, which you would expect as this is not a cheap venue.
Cons: Nothing - it was all good
Pros: We only stayed there for 1 night. We then moved to another lodge from the same company. These hotels get easily fully booked. Very kind staff. A great experience. The rooms are much better than what they looked like on the pictures. Get ready for the " cast away" experience (no wifi - no phone). A real must!
Pros: The staffs always got big smiles on their faces and were willing to help us. See elephants and small owls during breakfast and dinner.
Cons: To renew the road to the camp.
Pros: Great staff, great food and great experience. I really had a great time in Hoyo Hoyo.
Pros: The staff all contributed to make our experience extra special. Whilst all of the team are lovely, in particular Given and Wonder stood out for us - Two of the most funny and kind individuals we've ever met!
Cons: Everything was perfect
Pros: Location and Staff ( they were fantastic !)
When you stay at Leopard Hills in Kruger National Park, you'll be in a provincial park and steps from Londolozi Game Reserve. Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, a computer station, and dry cleaning/laundry services. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The best stay experience we have ever had. The rooms are incredible - luxurious, tasteful and stocked with everything you could desire. We had a lovely view of the watering hole from our room. The food at the lodge is outstanding. The staff is superb - they are friendly, more than helpful, and go out of their way to accommodate any requests you might have. The viewings were fantastic. We saw the Big 5 within our first 2 game drives. Due to the small size of Sabi Sands, the controls on the number of vehicles allowed at any one points, and the wonderful rangers at Leopard Hills, we were able to witness some truly remarkable animal viewings. Absolutely wonderful experience - we cannot wait to come back.
With a stay at Imbali Safari Lodge in Kruger National Park, you'll be in a national park, just steps from Manyeleti Game Reserve. Featured amenities include luggage storage, laundry facilities, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available on request), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: everything, perfect location in kruger national park. our guide was really good. food was delicious, which is surprising compared to the location. staff was friendly and helpful. fantastic terrace which enables to see animals drinking.
Pros: 1. Nice and confortable room 2. Great location within the Kruger park, in the middle of the animals 3. Very good game drive safari with a great guide
Cons: 1. Poor service quality of the staff (except few ones like our guide), not very professional behavior. 2. Very average dinner quality.
Pros: Everything about this hotel was outstanding. What made it especially stand out was the viewpoint to the watering hole where wild animals put on a 24/7 show for you to enjoy. The safaris, food, drinks, service, staff, location and accommodations were top. I will recommend this safari lodge to anyone wanting to visit Kruger!
Cons: We loved it all.
Pros: Excellent lodge! Beautiful, organized and clean! Very nice staff that made our Safari experience exceed our expectations! The games were excellent and the rangers are the best!
Pros: The lodge is very well appointed and in a lovely spot by the river. The game driver was good but the hotel and restaurant staff were uninterested and simply went through the motions, pretending to be engaged. The only time they were slightly animated was when we checked out and they wanted a tip. I noticed other reviewers said the same so it's an issue. The GM was interested and interesting but he needs to encourage his staff to be as well.
Cons: The restaurant and hotel staff (uninterested) other than the GM and game driver.
Pros: Amazing experience! Our safaris were fabulous, our ranger Eddie was fantastic! Food at the lodge was amazingly tasty and all lodge staff were so friendly, they really went above and beyond to deliver great hospitality!
Pros: The staff and facilities at Imbali were absolutely top-notch, and our only regret was not staying longer. More than the lodge itself, our safari guide Darryl Sheedy was the best ranger we encountered during our week in Kruger. Informative, funny, professional and safe. We would love to go back just to spend a few more days with him!
Pros: Everything! Magical place. Service was above and beyond. Our guide Suitboy was amazing. Great food and views.
Pros: Super comfortable bed, bathtub overlooking the river, all the animals at the waterhole right in front of the restaurant, the frindly staff, the game drives, all the food.
Pros: All perfect but not many sightings
Cons: Bad luck (or wrong area?) concerning the sightings
With a stay at Honeyguide Tented Safari Camps in Kruger National Park, you'll be on a river, just steps from Manyeleti Game Reserve. Featured amenities include multilingual staff, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available on request), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Great place to stay in the wild, near orpen gate. Tents are Huge, super clean and have every confort. We booked last minute after the disgusting experience we had at the Satara Camp. Guides are fantastic, we saw all the big 5 really close and they are very knowledgeble!
Pros: The location, the quality of the tents and service of staff was great. Everything was catered for and there was nothing more we could have asked for. The elephants walking by during lunch was just a bonus.
Cons: Absolutely nothing
Pros: Highly recommended as a private reserve stay with very good wildlife viewing. We had booked 2 nights at the end of a Kruger self-drive but opted to stay 3 because we enjoyed it so much. Reasonably priced for a private reserve lodgings, excellent meals, friendly and efficient staff and comfortable accomodation - the electric blankets were a nice touch in May. The brand new (2019) “infinity” pool and pool deck were a very nice addition and the elephants that came to drink there several times a day are a signature touch for this camp. The picture of the water buffalo attached was taken from the verandah of room 4. Manyeleti strikes me as a particularly appealing reserve, albeit seemingly an often overlooked one - nice mix of vegetation types, very good wildlife density, large area (23,000 ha) and very few lodges. Adjoins and is open to both Kruger NP and the much touted Sabie Sand reserve.
Cons: Nothing really. Just expect “comfortable” rather than “luxury” ... and heed all the warnings about locking your things away from the monkeys!
Pros: Everything was just perfect : the tent, the game reserve safari, the employees, the food, the timing..... It was good, everything was good.
Pros: Awesome tent with nice bed, good food, morning and afternoon tours included in the price
Cons: WiFi is bad (but what do you expect in the middle of nature ;)
Pros: The location and the staff were great.
Pros: Animals all around us!
Pros: Excellent guides, great viewings, wonderful experience. Great food, warm friendly people.
Pros: The look and feel is ok. The game drivers, and trackers try really hard to find the animals you want to see. Really appreciated their effort.
Cons: The final night dinner, was set-up outside. There was alot of rain and strong winds. The open fire pit didn't help, since all the ash and smoke flew into our eyes, water, plating...we eventually just got up ourselves and moved everything. The game reserve has alot of kudu, impala, zebra, and elephants...but not alot of lions, leopards, or giraffes. We also experienced power cuts during the hottest time of the day, when we were resting in our tents...so 36 degree weather inside a tent--really not nice. Also, there is no fridge in the tent, so we stored our drinks at the main dining area's fridge...little did we know we would be charged R150/day for opening our drinks and drinking them in the dining area... I mean when the electricity is down and the tent is super hot..
With a stay at Wild Olive Tree Camp in Kruger National Park, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Manyeleti Game Reserve and Orpen Gate. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available on request), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Its a lovely place to stay. Nice staff. We did a gamedrive and saw in the first 1/2 hour a leopard and later cheetas. The gamedrives are really good. The food is also good. The pool in winter is cold, but you can swim there. At night it was cold but not awful cold. Just sleeping in pyjamas amd you'll be fine
Cons: Its kinda expensive. You get a tent in the bush, thats it. The gamedrives are also 45€ pp per drive.
Pros: The place is nice, and dinner with all the rest of guest was very interesting. Nice people from all the world!
Pros: Guests dine together around a camp fire. Very homey.
Pros: It is a simple, cozy place away from all stress, perfect for a complete immersion to know the South African culture and savannah wildlife. The wild olive tree camp has given me and my friends unforgettable moments! We all agree that between 8 days of travel, just the two days we spent at wild tree olive would be enough. On the first day we arrived late at the camp and were surprised by a moonlight and starlight dinner. The food was always wonderful, homemade and tasty, the kind that you feel was made with love. Making game drivers is a must. Patrick, the game driver, is super attentive, friendly, and has a wealth knowledge about bush life. We learned a lot from him. In just two days we saw all the big five, and lionesses hunting buffaloes, something I'll never forget. The service was perfect. Thanks to all the girls, Olga, Flavia, Lize, Hazel, Tswallo (sorry if I forgot anyone, or spelled the wrong name) and Patrick for all the learning and unforgettable moments. For sure, what I will miss the most about this trip are the friendships I made in this place!
Cons: I definitely enjoyed everything. But just to let you know, if you're going in the winter, take good cold clothes, and warm clothes for sleep, it's very cold in the morning and at night. There is no eletric outlets in the rooms, but you can leave the cell phone and camera battery charging in the office. And always be with your phone at night, you will need the lantern hahaha
Pros: Authentic bush experience.
Pros: Very friendly staff, game drive with Patrick was fantastic, very knowledgeable and friendly
Pros: The ambiance and meals.
Cons: Everything was great.
Pros: Very good game drive. Maybe little bit more expensive but it’s worth the money! Seen almost the whole big 5 in one drive (except for the rhino) definitely would recommend this one
Cons: Was a little bit more expensive than we thought. But it’s close to a private park and the Kruger.
Pros: Good location
Cons: More attention to be given to facilities like pool, spa etc
Pros: Location to the Krueger Orpin Gate was good
Cons: Finding the camp off the main road was hard
With a stay at Pezulu Tree House Lodge in Hoedspruit, you'll be 6.8 mi (10.9 km) from Kapama Game Reserve and 11.5 mi (18.6 km) from Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre. The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
Pros: Lovely staff, great experience for the kids when a giraffe visited our tree house
Cons: House we booked was to small for our family of five
Pros: lovely people, and owners. friendly staff and beautiful accommodation. very hospitable experience and location is great. will definitely return.
Cons: mess up of the booking and the room, we got swapped by accident with another couple. Room was blazing hot, not enough cooling. rooms definitely needs a fridge of some sort.
Pros: We like the location and the setup of the accommodation that's why we decided to go back for the third time. But we were not impressed with the outcome.
Cons: We were very disappointed with the quality of the food, the food was very standard and it felt like eating at a hostel. We were not asked about our preferences and the first night they made pork that we don't eat, they weren't prepared for an alternative dish and had to get fish and prepare it specially for us. The next morning we were served a vegetarian breakfast cause we did not have the pork. The second night they made rooibok stew and my wife don't eat game. When i asked in the mornings what they planning for dinner i was told its a surprise, after insisting to know the last day i was told it would be roast chicken. The previous owners was involved in everything that happened, even during dinners, my view is that the new owners are a nice couple, they should get involved as the lodge has lost the spark and uniqueness that visitors come for, the quality of the food and how its presented has been lost. You would expect for R4000.00 a couple a day that you would at least get a decent meal. The staff was friendly and willing to assist but unfortunately they are not the face of the business and can not make these decisions. There are other thing that i can complain about but this is not what we are about, we were disappointed because we know what the lodge was before and saw where its heading too. A real shame to see that this unique setup has lost it's touch.
Pros: The treehouse mountain view is amazing! You feel like you are on top of the world
Pros: the night game drive
Cons: price no aircon small swimming pool Rooms are hot / warm
Pros: We loved the jacuzzi in our room and the outside shower was divine. We had the opportunity to see from our balcony many game like giraffes, impala, zebras, waterbucks, ostriches and great variety of bird life too. Having the tree branches in our room was amazing and having tea/coffee facility was great.
Cons: The temperature gets really hot and the fan in the room is not sufficient to cool us down. The owners need to seriously think of installing aircon in the rooms to make it more manageable especially when sleeping. The walkway to front door got very slippery when it rained. Would have been nice if we had a mini fridge in our room that we could use to store our drinks
Pros: This is a unique take on African Safari, a tree house lodge. Waking up with a giraffe eating at eye level from your bed.... awesome!! Outdoor shower with hot hot water. What an experience!
Cons: The first impression! The welcome drink and check in were done at a table in the restaurant while standing. They have a lovely upstairs area for this with lounges and a view. But they dont use it!
Pros: The staff and guides were really friendly and courteous.
Cons: Nothing -- they offer a wonderful experience.
Pros: We stayed in the dream house, which has a view over a square where we could see the giraffes pass by. The food here was good as well.
Pros: Excellent concept
Cons: There needs to be more attention to details. The area is extremely hot the drinks weren’t cold. The rooms don’t have a fridge which is ridiculous as people want to sometimes have a drink in the room keep some milk for coffee No drinking glasses in the room. Totally overpriced and obviously caters for foreign visitors who pay ridiculous prices for very poor facilities and service
When you stay at Timbavati Safari Lodge in Hoedspruit, you'll be convenient to Mafunyani Cultural Village. Featured amenities include laundry facilities, coffee/tea in a common area, and a water dispenser. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Our game drives in Kruger and Manyeleti were great. Godfrey, our excellent guide, was very experienced and knowledgeable. We spotted a lot of exciting wildlife incl .big five.
Pros: Beatiful bushes nice place to be
Cons: Not that much
Pros: Cultural / old modern style place to stay away from home
Pros: Super-close to the Orpen Gate entrance to Kruger park. We arrived late and started early, but the few hours in the lodge were nice. Cool dinner area, huts were clean and comfortable. Staff really friendly and helpful.
Cons: Bar area closes at 10pm - could be open a bit longer.
Pros: Very pretty setting. Staff was all very welcoming. Dinner and breakfast were very good, with good selection of dishes and plenty available. Only wish we had an extra day to appreciate the pool, bar, and wildlife on site.
Cons: Although not an issue during our visit, cottages are not provided with air conditioning.
Pros: The place was great value for the money - for accommodation, dinner and breakfast. It is a nice environment with some animals and birds around. The room, bathroom and bedding were nice and clean. The bar & pool area were quite nice for dinner. In the morning I enjoyed 8km run on the main road.
Cons: Not much I didn't like, the food could be a bit better however I must admit I was late for both dinner and breakfast and some selections were finished.
Pros: the staff and manager were very attentive . fex we had some car trouble on the way there so we arrived very late but we found they had put our dinner in the cabin for us . what made the stay extra special though was the ranger Ishmael who drove us around for 2 days in and outside kruger park he was very keen on us seeing the big five and worked tirelessly to get to the best spots and with 18 years experience he knew where to find the animals . we had a great stay:-) me personally i could not sleep since it was near 40 deg C during the day and there is no aircondition in the cabins
Cons: the stay exceeded our expectations
Pros: All staff are very friendly and make you feel at home. Good food and nice accommodation. Will definitely visit again. Hopefully next time not for work.
Cons: The rooms need a major remodel.
Pros: The Ndebele paintings outside the rooms
Cons: The place is nice outside but inside the rooms are bad. Linen doesn't smell fresh. The fleece on top of the bed is dirty. The bathroom taps were dirty, not shiny at all. We booked dinner and breakfast at their restaurant and the food was horrible. The only nice thing about the breakfast were the eggs &yoghurt. The table cloth at the food stations were dirty and old eeww.

Pros: Close location to The Kruger Park for a value overnight stop.
Pros: Nothing! absolutely nothing. Nada, Rien,
Cons: The mirror was not hanging on the wall, merely leaning against it. The toilet holder only had one screw on it so it was hanging downwards and could not hold the roll. The soap holder dish in the shower was just hanging on so it could not hold the soap. The shower had scale or mould in it. The walls had damp, so that the paint was peeling off the wall. The light remote did not work. The wiring was incorrect - the day night sensor had been wired into one of the internal lights so I had to switch off a circuit breaker on the DB board to switch the lights off. There was a bedside light on either side of the double bed but neither of them had a bulb. Even if they had, the lights had 2 pin sockets and there was no 2 pin adapter, also the one side did not even have a plug socket. The only positive thing I can say about my stay is that both the room and the linen were clean. The price was horrendous - I could have stayed at a far better venue up the road, in Hoedspruit, for R300 less per night. I would not recommend this venue to anyone,
Pros: clean room and perfect for day trips to Kruger Nationalpark
Cons: Accomodation is difficult to find via GPS so contact Rhury guesthouse before your arrival. He was very helpful in explaining the way
Pros: The bed was comfortable and the room was cool
Cons: Some of the staff need to be trained when it comes to welcome guest and friendliness, it is good to see black people create jobs and own businesses. Please assist with training
