Pros: Very stylish property, beautifully decorated. Olivier a most helpful host. Would go again.
Pros: On arrival Olivier was very sociable and made us very welcome with a refreshing, locally brewed beer and nibbles in the beautiful and secluded walled garden. He guided us to the adjacent private car parking and then helped us with our luggage to our comfortable bedroom, which was on the top (2nd) floor. Less ambulant people may prefer a bedroom on a lower floor. The location is convenient to the centre of town and on our first night Olivier recommended and made a dinner reservation for us at a local restaurant, a short walk away. On our second night Olivier kindly provided a superb charcuterie meal with wine in the dining room for 18 Euros per person. We enjoyed this more than eating out the previous evening and thought it was much better value. Breakfast was similarly enjoyable. We followed Olivier's recommendations about where to visit in the area and were not disappointed. It is a lovely place to stay for a few days and Olivier is an excellent host and good fun.
Pros: This ist just a perfect place to relax und visit the beautiful landscape, french villages and cities and drink very good wine. In addition to that Olivier and Christoph are just awesome host (and even tourist guides) who offer very good diner (my recommendation: you absolutely have to have dinner with them) in a very stylish house with a cosy and beautiful garden.
Cons: Nothing at all!!!
Pros: Highly recommended. Olivier is a very friendly and helpful host. Nice rooms, tastefully furnished. Nice garden, quiet location, very personal atmosphere. Good recommendations for restaurants and activities in the region. The village has, very unexpectedly, a real high class restaurant with moderate prices.
Cons: A few details in the room need fixing.
Pros: Olivier is a wonderful host. The hugely characterful home is warm, well equipped and lovely. Breakfast is bountiful with home made food. The village has a great restaurant. Highly reccomended place to stay.
Pros: Stunning interiors - a little heaven in a very unusual place. Host excellent. Highly recommended
Cons: From the outside it does not give the place justice. Do not judge book by its cover!
Pros: very good continental breakfast
Pros: Quiet, nice bed, very clean and good coffee in the morning!
Pros: I liked the style and presentation of the room very much. The breakfast area was delightful. The welcome was genuinely warm and I was made to feel that nothing was too much trouble.
Pros: The B&B was beautiful.
Pros: Our host was very accommodating. Not only did we mess up the booking slightly we also had a bad journey down and arrived at 23.45! He didn’t mine and was helpful. The pool is fab and we loved the small, cosy accommodation. A perfect getaway for a couple wanting a break. Wish we could’ve stayed longer and chilled by the pool but we were only there for a one night stopover. Of and the breakfast was lovely too.

Pros: Very stylish chateau, the impeccably clean room we stayed in was decorated with a modern twist. We usually had breakfast outside as it was pleasantly warm and sunny on most July mornings. Very kind and friendly, informative hosts. Great, peaceful location, ideal for visiting La Rochelle and Ile de Re.
Pros: Wonderful country location in a castle built more than 800 years ago.
Cons: A walk in shower or over bath shower would have been better than a bath.
Pros: - cleanliness - helpfulness of the owners - design of the castle and the rooms - breakfast it was a very good place to stay, I would stay there again next time and for more nights!
Cons: - nothing to complain about
Pros: Everything. I recently stayed here for 2 nights with my husband and I would gladly return any day. The property was pristine and lush with plants and trees. Our hosts were extremely helpful in suggesting places to visit, telling the history of the chateau and showing us around the turret. The location was stunning. It was very relaxing having breakfasts outside. Their breakfast was delicious with great breads, homemade jams, fresh fruit salads, hams and cheeses. We strongly recommend this little gem, probably the best we ever stayed in.
Pros: Exceptional place, an old castle which is in the process of renovation by the hands of the owners, who integrate the past and present . Fortunately, it has not been turned into a 'posh' place , with swimming pools and 'modern facilities'- everything necessary is there, with very good taste
Pros: Fabulous location, beautiful building and wonderful host. Breakfast exceeded expectations in a stunningly beautiful room. Would highly recommend this experience.
Cons: Nothing to dislike.

We strongly recommend this little gem, the best we ever stayed in.

Pros: Beautiful room. Very clean. Hosts lovely. Food excellent. Garage for the Moto. Cannot fault anything.
Pros: Not only is the home of Francoise and Alain just beautiful and comfortable, they are the most hospitable and warm people we’ve ever had the pleasure of staying with. The bedrooms are beautiful, tastefully decorated, clean and very comfortable. We had such a relaxing stay and Francoise and Alain went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful stay. Breakfast was served in the stunning garden with the wonderful backdrop of the pool, garden and french countryside. We benefited from all the delicious home produce of their beautiful garden, trying many of the local fruits which Francoise had made from what was gathered in their garden. Just amazing. We really couldn’t more highly rate this place. We have made friends for life staying here and so grateful to Francoise and Alain’s generous hospitality. A hidden gem.

Pros: The room was beautifully presented and pool brilliant. We enjoyed the breakfast and the hosts where very accommodating. They gave us a great local restaurant to eat at. Perfect, many thanks.
Cons: Too far from eateries
Pros: Boris & Lisa made us feel really welcome and helped us out throughout the whole weekend. A special mention to Boris who took us to and from the wedding venue as and when we asked. That was really great. The place itself was beautiful and was lovely getting to know the family and the other guests too.
Cons: The only small, and minor thing would be that the apartment was quite stuffy. If there was a way of improving the natural air flow within the space that would be great!
8.8 Excellent (250 reviews)

Pros: The hotel is situated in a lovely calm location with plenty of parking. With a 50% discount promotion on our room, we found it excellent value. Very friendly staff/owners. The room was very comfortable with a terrace and sun loungers with views over the lake. The restaurant also had views over the lake and the food and service were impeccable.
Pros: The facilities generally.
Cons: The cost of the wines at dinner at £40 was far too expensive. Basically a rip off.
Pros: The hotel was excellent in every aspect. The setting is delightful, the rooms excellent and the patio balcony superb to lie in the sun and relax. The food just superb. Although our booking had a hitch regarding arrangements before our departure this was dealt with in the most professional manner to our total satisfaction. Thoroughly recommended.
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff, good dog walk around the lake.
Cons: Weather could have been better
Pros: A lovely comfortable garden room, overlooking the lake - very peaceful indeed. The restaurant is excellent based on our experience.
Pros: Beautiful Location. Facilities were all included. The walk around the Lake was great.
Cons: There was no Bar facilities. The food was very Expensive & 22 Euro for 2 Gin & Tonics Is a bit Excessive. The Cornishman Was Not Impressed
Pros: Lovely quiet location, staff are helpful and friendly, a warm welcome. excellent size rooms with views over the lake, loungers to enjoy the sun and good quality toiletries . We used the swimming pool and the jacuzzi , both were very clean. We had a very good evening meal. Overall a very enjoyable stay !
Pros: Restaurant food and setting amazing. Facilities and staff lovely.
Cons: We liked all of it but if being super critical maybe rooms could be a little more modern.
When you stay at Chateau De Crazannes in Crazannes, you'll be in the historical district and 12 minutes by car from Chateau of Roche-Courbon.
Pros: The location was very nice.
Cons: Beds were not that comfortable. Basics like toilet paper were missing from the bathroom and the bathroom was exceptionally small due to the historic nature of the building. Breakfast was adequate however the croissants & pain au chocolat were very nice. No fresh fruit or fresh milk on offer. The outdoor swimming pool was not available for our use on a very hot day.
Pros: Nice place particularly for Children Swimming pool is great and the ground of the chateau wonderful. Children had a ball.
Pros: Fantastic real live castle!
Cons: The bathroom was tiny and shower flooded the floor lol
Pros: It is a period Chateau which is open to the public which has a number of rooms that are available to guest, the Chateau itself is quite charming but in reality it is not a place you would want to stay in unless you have a particular calling to the property, there are plenty of Chateau's around that provide more suitable accommodation. It was an experience, but one that would not be repeated.
Cons: Room damp, along with bedding obviously not ventilated or heated, poor bathroom facilities, certainly would not be adequate for anyone who is of a larger size as the width varied from 600mm to 900mm max. your knees touch the door when seated on the toilet and it is difficult to wash in front of the basin. Stair access would be a problem for anyone who is not 100% and access to the property is over a 50 meter grassed area, (not paved) and when we stayed it was sodden. Carrying your luggage up three high flights of spiral staircases would be difficult for quite a number of people. Parking is outside of the property on a dirt road.
Pros: Large room with view, beautiful setting, swimming pool
Cons: Bathroom far too small, WiFi not working, spooky at night having to walk through rooms in the castle to get to our room
Pros: The peaceful location. We felt like we were the Lord and Lady of the Château. Amazing property and grounds.
Pros: Lovely Chateaux and gardens. Big room.
Cons: Swimming pool was closed for our entire stay. Very disappointing for our kids. TV in room didn’t work and wc cistern was making a strange noise.
Pros: The castle was really beautiful, the rooms were fully decorated in style with the castle. After the guided tours have left, you will have the castle for yourself. At night that was really special!
Cons: I hate it when I book a hotel with a pool and the pool is closed. It looked perfect, it smelled perfect and the water was as clean as could be. But still it was closed. Even after I begged, wheeped and cried, the pool stayed closed. We were very disappointed.

Pros: Everything else was perfect. Stephan the host was extremely amiable. He is a Parisian who had been converted to country life many years previously when he bought this farmhouse.circa 1795. He .had converted outhouses to 3 cottages named Ile D'Oléron, Ile De Ré and Ile d'Aix. Very picturesque surrounded by lovely rolling hillside.. Stephan has made the conversions with loving care and retained the character. We stayed on Ile d'Aix the smallest of the.cottages with spacious sleeping and dining area and separate bathroom. French doors opened to a shaded patio and beyond that was a lovely swimming pool maintained at a constant 75F temperature. The room was equipped with crockery, cutlery, microwave and coffee and teamaking facilities. Complimentary figs and a jar of preserve from the farm were also provided, a nice touch. Stephan could not have been more welcoming. This was a little piece of heaven, quite unique and only 40 mins South of La Rochelle. Our cottage was perfect for a couple and had character that no hotel could ever compete with. The larger cottages would suit families as children could roam and play in perfect safety. A delicious breakfast (small extra fee) fresh bread from the village, delicious cakes, warmed figs and yogurt and fresh coffee completed our stay I must make a return visit and stay.longer. Bill and Marie.
Cons: Can be tricky to spot the farm name plate in the dark A light to illuminate it would be helpful for late night arrivals.
Pros: We enjoyed so much the romantic breakfast in the morning with a variety of delightfull homemade sweets (cake, Juice, jam and more). The sun was shining, we were the only guests at this moment so we received Vannessa´s full attention and she pampered us with fresh coffee and hot chocolate. The location is situated in a vaste area of argriculture land with no noise beside the birds which woke us up in the morning. Unfortuantely we could only stay one night... Parking was safe inside the walls.
Cons: As I am 1,91 (slightly overweighted :-) and my wife 1,70 the bed was a bit too small for us, but this issue we encountered mostly everywhere in France (King Seize beds are not very commun).
